Caterpillar Face is a collection of poetry that follows a traveler's story of inner transformation as they explore the world both within and without. These poems are evocative and dreamlike as they consider the jarring realities that force us to question our existence in this strange world.
Uxia Rose is a lifelong writer and creative. She currently resides in Connecticut with her husband and children. Caterpillar Face is her first collection of poetry.
I received my copy via a Goodreads giveaway. “Beauty will save the world.” ― Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Idiot This was the great and true quote which I kept thinking of while reading this poetry collection. It seems to me that this poet (a) acknowledges the reality of beauty (past, present, mainly future) and (b) trusts that it will be saving/fulfilling/resolving. For me, this puts the current strangeness faced by this troubled/talented writer in focus.
I really enjoyed this collection of poetry and the persistent imagery of caterpillars appearing throughout. My favorite poem was “My Favorite Place” as I immediately thought of someone who elicits that feeling within me.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a very strange book of poetry. For example, one begins with the words "I was born with caterpillars on my face." I found it kind of fun although I don't think I'll memorize any of these for date nights with my wife.
