After escaping her abusive ex, Mira is abducted by alien mercenaries. Now she's the newest member of the Reapers, on a ship full of misfits and killers where she has exactly zero useful skills. Well, except she's a hell of a gamer.
When she rescues a damaged battle robot, she finds an unexpected ally. But as danger closes in, she must decide if she's ready to stop running and fight for the man who's becoming more than just her protector.
AGENT. PROTECTOR. MONSTER?
NOMAD agent Davis Tell's cover is blown when an enemy attack awakens unknown alien DNA in his blood. As his body transforms into something more than human, there’s just one thing keeps his primal instincts at bay… his obsession with the team's beautiful newest member.
When the Reaper’s are hunted for the secrets in his changing DNA, Davis must control the beast within or risk becoming the monster Mira fears. But as their attraction ignites and threats mount, they'll have to face the the alien he's becoming might be exactly what she needs.
Mina Carter is a New York Times & USA Today bestselling author of romance in many genres. She lives in the UK with her husband, daughter, a puppy who pays no attention to her whatsoever, and a bossy cat.
Mira is waiting for the other spaceboot to drop. Rescued from her odious ex-boyfriend and abuser during a mission, she's waiting to be abandoned or spaced whenever they find it convenient to get rid of her! However, this crew may be rough around the edges, crotchety and very nosey but they are also the oddest, most inclusive found family you'll probably ever meet and Mira's about to find out she's now one of them!
She may think she is least skilled person in tow with a group of Mercs but Mira has talents that are going to come in very handy. Davis may not have made the best impression on the newest team member, what with almost strangling her when they first met! But he's not undercover any longer and he'll admit to himself (but no one else) just how much the new girl is getting under his skin. But when he is injured and his body begins to change outwardly and internally he wonders just how much of himself well be left and he'd unalive himself before harming his crew or his...Mira.
Davis is such a compartmentalised character. With all the roles he's played over his time as a NOMAD agent and now Merc, he's not sure where on lie ends and the next begins. He takes the protector role seriously and I love the way he recognises Mira's talents and expertise even when she is hesitant to think of them as much. Mira is still kind of hating herself for falling for the dipsticks lies and allowing him to rule her for so long that she's hesitant to be under the thumb of anyone else, making Davis' new possessive traits a bit daunting for her. But I loved the way she pulled on her big girl knickers and said "sod this" and went for it.
The crew is as nutty a squirrel nest and the banter is brilliantly witty. The "monitoring his vitals scene" will live in my head for ages, I almost bust a lung laughing at them being sprung! Wee spot is such a trooper and I'm really hoping we can get him/her a new shiny body soon.
The action keeps the storyline moving nicely, the smexy times are intense but don't get in the way of the adventure. Now to see what fresh level of heck they find for the next adventure.
I love these alien stories and the fact that we're going to learn about the story behind the different members of the Reapers. Mira amazed me with her skills, her strong empathy with Spot, and her strength of character. She had previously been manipulated, abused, and stripped of her autonomy, and she didn't want to jeopardize what she had achieved so far, so she considered it extremely important to consider what Davis represented to her. Davis feared losing not only his humanity but also his relationship with Mina. Davis's situation was very intriguing and mysterious, and it kept me on edge with the internal struggle he was experiencing and the thread upon him. I enjoyed the crew camaraderie, Mina's gamer side and her connection with Spot caught my attention, which captivated me. Renn left me thinking, eager to know more. A different story full of suspense, intriguing situations, conflicting emotions, and an adorable metal character.
I loved this so much! I was so sad to see it end. Mira and Davis. Woo wee! I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this. I was pleasantly surprised. Mira and Davis are dancing around each other as they are both attracted but have so much going on - on the sidelines. Mira is a gamer/rescued victim of domestic violence. She is trying to find her way and her worth with the Reapers group. Davis is a former human operative now Reaper. He is the only male human on the ship. On one of the Reaper assignments he is shot with an electric radiation blast and soon he starts to transform. They discover his genes are not actually all human and something recessed in his makeup is pushing forward. This serves as a catalyst for him to acknowledge his inner attraction to Mira. As the team tries to discover what Davis is morphing into, Mira is still trying to show her worth - to herself and to the team.
I love this series. This book tells the story of Mira who at the beginning of the book is found to be an assistant/partner to a controlling abusive Dr who systematically isolates her until she is completely under his control. When the Reapers raid the facility on a mission to find and rescue another person Davis sees how Mira is being abused and rescues her too. The thing about this book is there is too many teasers and back stories that really need more explanation. I’m hoping at some further books so many of these loose details will be cleared up. I’ve noticed this happening in the first book as well. It’s like the author has ADD and got off track with the storyline. I read a lot of her books so I will be patient and watch for future books. I truly enjoy reading anything written by her. I look forward to reading more about the reapers.
Davis is changing right before their eyes and his is not happy. He is human and proud of it until he isn't. Mira is attracted to Davis and the he gets secretive. Can she accep5all that he is and what he is becoming? Salvation for the Alien Mercenary is the latest in Mina Carter's Alien Mercenaries Reapers series. I enjoyed getting to know this band of mercenaries better. Davis is changing and struggling with how and why. But he is sure that Mira is his but will he go too far in his efforts to protect her? I loved seeing Mira and Davis navigate a budding relationship even as Davis changes at a molecular level. Ms. Carter has given us a fast paced story with unexpected twists and turns that i thoroughly enjoyed. I cannot wait to see where she will take us next.
Mira has become a kind of accidental member of the Reapers Mercenaries. (See Book 1.) She was rescued by Davis, the only human Reaper, who is also the ship’s engineer. Davis feels responsible for her and makes sure she has what she needs.
During a battle with a group of M’Suun, an old Imperial clan of Lathars, Davis is shot with a weapon that begins to change his DNA. Mira helps Davis while he’s recuperating, and they grow closer. The changes Davis is undergoing get progressively worse, and it’s clear they need to find out what’s happening. Mira & Davis grow close while Davis becomes more & more alien.
The rest of the crew keep us amused and the mystery of the battle robot keeps us wondering while Mira & Davis fall in love. Another great story for the Reapers!
One of her better Lathar book in my opinion. I'm liking the merc series and the feral series a lot more than the main one. I think the MMCs are just more interesting.
I think I would have loved this book if we'd gotten to know Tell more before his transformation. I would have liked more small moments from before, like when he set up her gaming console. Everything after his transformation began felt too animalistic and didn't seem true to the glimpses of his character that we'd gotten before.
I appreciated Mira's character. She was aware of who she was and where she stood next to the Reapers, in terms of not being a badass. But she was still competent and ended up being helpful in a few circumstances.
Mina Carter has outdone herself again. I I just picked the book up this afternoon because I saw her name and it was when I had not read. That was about 3 o’clock this afternoon now it’s a little after midnight and I just finished. I sure wish I could’ve spent a little more time, but the action just keeps pulling you faster and faster.
And the silver lining here? I realized that I’m on book 2 and I don’t believe I ever read book one so I’m gonna buy it right now but I’m not even gonna crack it open, so to speak.
Holy guacamole. This was such an epic read. The way Mina delivers a story of this caliber is addictive. This series and all her subsequent books just leave the reader begging for more. Point in case, Mira, what this woman has gone through, but damn if our hot brooding scowling hunk, Davis, isn't the cure of all ills.
This slow burn will leave you quaking in your boots. The enormous transformation that Mira and the Reapers witness is astounding, but love prevails. 🔥💜
I'm looking forward to seeing where the next book takes us!
This was another fab read for the series and I loved how Mira and Davis both had self doubts to deal with. I liked the feel of equal footing for them, even if their doubts came from different places. This is a slow burn romance but when the heat gets turned on, it's on full blast ;P With witty banter, action, twists, danger and drama, I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see if they'd let go of their baggage and take the risk on love. I'm really enjoying getting to know the crew more and cannot wait for the next book. Good fun!
Love the Latharian world and this book is a great addition to it. Davis and Mira work through the personal issues blocking them from truly committing to eachother, but they perservere with lots of exciting action, intrigue and smoking hot romance. Well written as always, with indepth character development of each main character and all those within the story. I joyfully received an ARC from this author and am freely leaving this review to let everyone know this book is fun and entertaining, as well worth my time.
I am so in love with the entire series by Mina Carter. I can't wait for the next book. Mira was kidnapped by aliens and she lives with them after she saved them. I know right. She saved them from her boss and boyfriend and Tell didn't like how she was treated and kidnapped her. She is attracted to Tell that is human on the Reapers mercenary team. Things start to change after Tell is shot. His DNA starts to change. What will happen now? Can he be saved? Keeps you on the edge of your seat with what will happen next. I read an arc of this book and this is my review. A must read.
Mira is rescued from a messed up situation by the Reapers. She is now reevaluating her life. Mira is also trying to integrate herself with this eclectic crew of misfits. Davis is the a human mercenary among the crew. He has superhuman prowess. But that's threatened when the crew is the target of an ambush. Things don't add up and Davis smells a rat, which uncovers that a crew member's secrets. Davis is now fighting for his life as the attack causes serious changes to his body and his biology.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and am leaving a voluntary review.
Action packed sci-fi romance must read! The second book in he exciting Alien Mercenaries:Reapers series brings Davis and Mira’s story to life. He was attracted to Mira from the first meeting and when he finally gets the chance the dangers heats up for the Reapers. Will they be able to take their relationship to the next level? One click to find out in this newest addition that doesn’t disappoint. I loved the characters chemistry that heats up as the danger that follows them points to one surprise after another. This is a definite must read!
The Latharian universe is a great series. The first spin of with cyborg Zero was well-written and humorous. Nice to have a lighter spin sometimes. This cyborg spin off connects Zero (first book in this series) with a new full of heros and heroines. Can't say enough good things about both of these books. Had to go back and reread the first since it had been awhile and it needs to be read in order. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!
Mira wowed and stepped in when things got real and impressed everyone with her laser focus and skills with tech - honed from top level gaming and learning as a medical assistant in her former life. Davis was attracted from day one but also had other life altering issues to deal with. Together along with the other Reapers and a newfound friend, they continue to work, fight and provide laugh out loud moments while kicking serious enemy butt like no one else can! Love these guys.
The Reaper’s found family grabs your heart, but each couple’s story is special in different ways. Mira and Davis each have secrets, who knew the humans would be so interesting? And there are a couple of mysteries going on in this book. The clues are doled out piecemeal, but as we wait the building love story between Mira and Davis keeps you on edge. I loved the world building also, it was like taking a trip to space. Great read!
Good book. This book was enjoyable and had an interesting plot. We find out more about Davis and the effects on his body after being in a battle. He and Mira make a good couple. Lots of action and they spent a lot of time together. More things are introduced and leads to interesting revelations that I’m sure will be carried throughout the series. Not my favorite book by this author but I enjoyed it enough to finish it in one day.
This series is exceptional and this book is nonstop action from the first page to the last. Mina Carter is a highly talented author who never disappoints readers. She writes characters that are vibrant and refreshing. Filled with scotching romance Davis and Mira develop the slow burn of attraction that makes this love story believable. This is a do not miss read. Download nd enjoy❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ms. Carter has written a 2nd rousing book in this Alien Mercenaries: Reapers series. Main characters Mira and Davis are mired in their own self-doubts of worth and desires. This is one heck of an emotional trek throughout and very much worth reading to discover how and/or what happens. This is my voluntary review of the ARC I received.
This book is another great set of characters, the storyline creates a need to keep reading and to find out what is happening. The tension created around what the changes mean for the main character is great and I just love that Mira was a heroine and rescued the robot and the story was just fabulous- I had to finish it in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down.
Davis and Mira are the only two humans among the Reapers. Mira, who was introduced in the first book, is happy to be free of the situation she was previously in. Turns out she has more going for her than being a medical assistant. she is a good strategist and tech person.
Both her and Davis are drawn to each other but it is complicated by the change Davis is going through after being hit in a fire fight with the M'Sunn. Turns out Davis may not be as human as he thought. Now it is time to seek some answers.
Another great read by Mina Carter! Davis and Mira’s story had just about everything in it, romance, action, and mystery. Every bit of those was a joy ride with beautiful detail especially the character development and action scenes. I can hardly wait for the next installment!
Davis and Mira. He watches her but rarely approaches. She wants him but cannot make the first move. They are paired together at a salvage lot looking g for spare parts for the Lady's Dream. Mira finds a small broken robot and takes it home with her. The beginning of a whole new adventure with The Reapers and Davis.!.
It’s all about perception Such a fantastic story! I love the characters and the way these two let go of their baggage to become the couple they were meant to be. But not without a bit of danger and excitement and a lot of drama. The crew brought their own personalities into the mix and made me love them all even more. Secrets were revealed and the author set us up for the next story by the time she was through, making for a story that captured my attention from the first page. This book just made it onto my re-read list and I can’t wait to start from the beginning again.
I loved this book, it has a great storyline and the interaction between the characters is great. I can't wait for the next book. I received this book as a Free ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
