I'm not sure yet if I agree with everything Dr Bar presented in his book, but I found it extremely helpful and insightful while studying Revelation! His understanding of the Old Testament and historical Jewish culture was invaluable!! Made me want to go read all the prophets and dive in with some eastern thinking tools!! The book starts off very promising, and is worth reading for anyone studying Revelation in depth. I found some of the discussion on artificial intelligence to trend off topic and feel like a fanciful extreme. Overall, I appreciate the resource and learned a lot.

I love Eitan Bar's books! I wish this one talked a bit more about the 1000 year reign. Jesus returing but allowing sin to continue has always made no sense to me. I am going to be resurrected into a sinful world? But due to the fault line running from the Mount of Olives to the East Gate, I view Zechariah's prophecy regarding the messiah's return as literal (and there being punishments to nations who disobey him during that time). I can't wrap my mind around that. While I didn't get clarity on those specific questions, I overall got an excellent interpretation of Revelation! There are so many theologies that don't seem to make sense with the text, and this cut through all of those theories. Most importantly, you get to hear revelation interpreted through a Jewish, not American, context. Great read!

A thoughtful, well-rounded perspective

I don’t have to agree with every single point of Dr. Bar’s perspective to have been greatly impacted by his book. So much to think about. I believe every American, every Westerner, should consider a Jewish perspective of the Bible—It was written by Jews (largely) to Jews (largely) so a Jewish or Second Temple Period understanding is a good hermeneutic.

This book is truly a REVELATION of hope

I have struggled with the mainstream churches, in all I'm, "you are not alone in this." The book of Revelation is clearly explained and gives hope and peace to the heart and mind. In the book of Revelation, John leans heavily on Old Testament symbols with deep meaning to those in the 1st Century. Eitan draws out these symbols and offers a non literal view that deepens the message of the Revelation!

Reading Revelation through a Jewish perspective is interesting. I was taught to read the Bible literally. So to read in terms of concepts and metaphors is new to me. It definitely makes one think. It's good to get outside of our traditional thinking.
