An excellent read about the Mississippi Delta. Contained many truths, insights, and understandings re: the human experience in that area of the deep south during the first quarter of the 20th century. It is a well written study, prosaic in presentation, of the author's exploration into the highly complex society he discovered while in Natchez, a place that "is in the world but not of it." Many of the authors observations hold true today. Sort of like the Delta is a microcosm of the entire country. And excellent read and highly recommended.
