USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestselling author Janie Crouch writes what she loves to read: passionate romantic suspense.
After a lifetime on the East Coast—and a six-year stint in Germany due to her husband's job as support for the U.S. Military—Janie has settled into her dream home in Front Range of the Colorado Rockies. She loves engaging in all sorts of adventures (triathlons! 200-mile relay races! mountain treks!), traveling, and surviving life with four kids.
Heroes exist. Let a Janie Crouch book prove it to you.
Do not start reading this book until you have a chunk of time to devote to it. I read it in one sitting, absolutely unable to put it down. At the end of the previous book (Armed Response) the team learned that Natalie Freihoff, the dead wife and motivation for Freihoff's vendetta against Omega, is actually alive. The head of Omega, Ren McClement, makes it his personal mission to find her and use her to draw out her husband. His only question is whether she is innocent or part of his scheme.
Six years earlier, Natalie had used the confusion surrounding a bank robbery to escape from the terror of an abusive marriage by faking her death. She has been looking over her shoulder ever since, terrified that he will find her.
I loved Natalie and Ren, though it took a while for me to warm up to him. Natalie's inner strength is amazing, as is her determination. As the details of her marriage emerged, the depth of Damien's depravity becomes even more obvious. In spite of all the trauma she has endured, Natalie is still a kind and caring person. Ren bugged me at first. Because of what he has seen and done over the years he is very cynical and is convinced that Natalie is working with Damien. He seems completely unwilling to believe that she is innocent.
I enjoyed the development of their relationship. Though understandably wary at first, Natalie quickly felt that Ren was a man she could trust. I loved watching her open up and share some of her story with him. It was fun to watch Natalie's effect on Ren. Though his mind tells him she could be guilty, I loved his internal horror as he finds himself telling her things about himself that are true, rather than the carefully crafted cover story he was going to use. By the time they escaped from the train accident, Ren had begun to realize that he had been wrong about her. I loved his growing protectiveness as they got to know each other. There were some really sweet scenes at their cabin hideout as Ren's attentions helped build up Natalie's confidence. But Ren was also fighting the guilt of his deception and knows he has to come clean, though fate and a mountain lion seem to have other plans. I ached for Natalie with the way the truth came out. I loved the ending as Ren showed how well he understood her and gave her what she needed, but also didn't give up on them. The final scene was sweet and romantic and perfect for the two of them.
The suspense was fantastic. The tension has been building through the entire series as Damien tried to destroy Omega and the team worked to stop him. The tension built as Ren tried to decide if Natalie was on the side of good or evil. There are also sections told from the viewpoint of Damien, which added to the worry about Natalie's safety. The action goes from zero to sixty as the team puts their plan into action. I ached for Natalie and her realistic fears and fully believed that she had a much more realistic view of Damien's deviousness than the team did. My heart was in my throat as her fears came true. But in spite of her terror, she was able to do something to help bring him down. The final confrontation was an amazing piece of teamwork. Ren was fantastic with his outwardly calm and focused intent, and I loved his final statement to Damien. It was extremely satisfying to see the team members from the previous books in on the takedown. I ached for Ren and his fear that they wouldn't be able to save Natalie and I was on the edge of my seat until they did.
One of my favorite lines from the entire book, and maybe even the series was about Lillian and her place on the team: "Nobody ever expects the ass-kicking midget dropping out of the ceiling." I will miss the Omega team and can't wait to see what is next.
I left a lot of comments while reading this book, because I just couldn't believe how awful and stupid what I was reading actually was.
The entire book is predicated on "hero" Ren McClement acting on an opinion without a single shred of evidence, and that opinion not making a lick of sense.
This whole mini-series has been about Damien Friehof, some sort of criminal mastermind, stalking, injuring and killing members of Omega Sector and their loved ones in retaliation for the death of his wife Natalie, killed in a bank robbery SWAT shoot-out that Omega was involved in.
Now, it turns out that Natalie is still alive. She faked her death in that shootout and has been in hiding for six years, sure that Damien would kill her if he found her. (And kudos to Crouch for at least giving us an idea of how Natalie faked her death).
Ren McClement, who we are to assume is the most super duper agent of them all, as he created Omega Sector, has two possibilities upon learning Natalie is alive:
a) Natalie has been in hiding for six years because it's common knowledge that Damien Friehof is a terrorist, madman, and general all-around psychopath.
b) Natalie is actually working for Damien, despite the fact that everything Damien has done is because he thinks Natalie is dead.
Of course, Ren goes with (b), despite having zero evidence of this. Despite the opinion of a behavioural analyst agent who says it's more likely Natalie is a victim. Despite it making zero sense whatsoever that Damien would be carrying out a revenge plot because he thought Natalie was dead if she was actually alive all along and helping him out.
It was something I just couldn't get my head around.
Anyway, Ren has gone with opinion (b) and it's important to find Friehof because he's gotten hold of some canisters with a deadly pathogen and is once again set to kills thousands of people. He wants to find out if Natalie can tell them of Friehof's whereabouts (under his bizarre assumption she's working for Friehof, that is). Let's look at a couple of options that Ren could have taken:
a) Bring Natalie into Omega custody and question her, where they could easily verify why she's staying in a nice house and why she's working in all these fancy buildings. After all, Omega Sector, as the book itself puts it: "A multi-organisational law enforcement task force made up of the best agents our country has to offer." They've been able to hack into confidential medical records in the past! Not hard to verify anything Natalie tells them.
b) Scare Natalie into going on the run, and set up an elaborate scenario that forces Natalie into taking a train trip. Drug Natalie, fake the train crashing, drag her into the snowy wilderness, risking death via mountain lion attacks, pneumonia, and infection, before bringing her in front of the media to use her as bait and ensure that Damien Friehof comes after her once he knows she's alive, DESPITE thinking that she's already in contact with him and that HE KNOWS WHERE SHE IS ALREADY.
Sorry, I was trying to be level-headed and caps free while writing this review, but the bizarre, utter stupidity of the plot and its characters thinking just gets me all riled up again!
Anyway, you can probably tell that Ren goes with plan (b).
Around the 50/60 page mark is when Ren drugs Natalie and fakes the train crash. I wrote in my comments that this book was 1 star from that point on. I found this utterly deplorable. The HERO DRUGS THE HEROINE. I will not abide that. It is not acceptable in any way, shape or form. The book spends some time trying to convince us that he had to do it for his job, and that Natalie understands this, but I did not buy it. Drugging somebody without their knowledge is a sick, degrading act and is punishable by law. I absolutely hated Ren for this action and for his general stupidity throughout the book. And his use of the endearment "Peaches" to describe Natalie.
Yuck.
Once again, I reiterate: Ren has concocted a plan ultimately designed to convince Damien Friehof that his dead wife is alive and lure him in. This is despite Ren's assumption that Natalie has been assisting Damien for six years and will call him after the fake train crash, which would suggest that Damien indeed already knows his wife is alive. So why would he be getting revenge for her death? Why would they need to convince him she's alive if they think they're already in communication????
My head hurts just thinking about it.
And to carry off this fucking stupid, mind-boggling plan, the HERO DRUGS THE HEROIN.
When she's freaking out later, Ren is thinking it's a weird phobia of snow or a reaction to stress. Not that he's drugged her, without her knowledge or consent, and without knowing if she might have some reaction to whatever drug he's injected her with. Unless he's looked up her medical records (as this agency tends to do). But that still doesn't excuse DRUGGING HER WITHOUT HER KNOWLEDGE OR CONSENT. I don't care what he thinks she's done!
I didn't just dislike this book. I hated it. The plot was stupid. The hero's motivations and behaviours made no sense, and his actions were utterly disgusting. I don't find the hero drugging the heroine, under any circumstances, to be acceptable, much less romantic. Good grief!
Ren's actions completely break Natalie's spirit. And because Omega keep coming up with utterly fucking stupid, poorly thought-out plans, she's of course captured by Damien and subjected to alarming abuse. All because of the "hero". It left me with a sick feeling in my stomach. No amount of grovelling could make up for what Ren has done, but this is Harlequin, so you know what happens....
See my comments about what else I found wrong with this book. I don't want to write about it anymore. I'm stunned at all the 4 and 5 star reviews.
This book has caused me to drop my Intrigue subscription. I've still got piles of books into the future months (allowing me to catch up!), so once I've read those, maybe I'll pick the subscription up again. But I might skip any of the ones written by Janie Crouch, even if she has now apparently moved on from Omega Sector.
A great conclusion to this romantic suspense series. The heroine was interesting as well as the plot and action. I was often intrigued by what would happen next. I understood the need for the hero to keep a secret and I liked how it was eventually resolved. Agent Ren uses Natalie, the 'dead' wife of a terrorist to lure him out so they could catch him.
I adore Crouch's Omega sector books and Lawman's Protection was no exception! I wasn't a huge fan of Ren at first, but thankfully he wasn't as awful as Joe (from a few books ago. I'm still pissed at that asshole!).
Natalie's story made me cry. The abuse she suffered was bad enough, but the terror she has lived in for the years in hiding is just as heartbreaking. Ren was so sure that Natalie was in on Friehof's plan he was willing to use her without her consent. However, once he spent time with her, he did realize that she was not only NOT helping her ex, but that she was essentially his first victim. If you don't feel for Natalie, you might be dead inside. I wanted her to get her HEA so much! I was totally invested in the story because I just had to know she finally is free!
The story is a culmination of the plot ARC with Friehof but it isn't necessary to read the previous books. However, you should! I have enjoyed this series, and the previous Omega Sector series books. Its romantic suspense at its finest-building romance mixed with danger! Crouch manages to pace the story perfectly so that it flows well and never feels slow! Also, safe for mom because the sex scenes are fade to black! Mom-you would love this series and you can order it in paperback since you hate your kindle. :)

In the Lawman’s Protection-Book #6: Release Date 11/1/18 I finished it in one day. Be prepared because you won’t want to put it down.
When Ren McClement who’s the Omega founding agent goes undercover to find Natalie Anderson it gets very interesting. She’s Damien Freihof ex wife who they thought was dead. Damien has been terrorizing, and been after the Omega Sector for quite some time now. Ever since he thought Natalie was killed by there agents.
After he sends in two of his agents to make contact with Natalie she freaks and needs to run. Just as he predicted she would run. He just hopes he can win her over. Now it’s time to get her on there side. He needs to play it cool, but things go a little off track. Hopefully she’ll see him as nothing but a nice guy.
In the Lawman’s Protection is the sixteenth and final book in the richly written and enticing Omega Sector saga, and while I’m excited to read Janie’s forthcoming books, I’m sad this series is over.
Damien Freihof, the sociopath who has been hellbent on taking down the Omega team for what he perceived to be their part in the death of his wife, Natalie, is continuing on with his mission to destroy the team and their loved ones. After finding out by accident that Natalie Anderson Freihof is still alive, Ren McClement, the man responsible for the Omega Sector’s formation, is determined to finally stop this criminal once and for all. He’s firmly convinced that Natalie is aiding and abetting her ex, so when they track her down in California, Ren handles it personally. He’s going to do whatever it takes to get Natalie to help them stop Freihof and finally capture him.
After following her for days, the Omega team makes their move and sends Natalie running right into their arms. After befriending her on a train, Ren and the team go to extreme lengths to arrange it so that he and Natalie are ‘trapped’ in a cabin in the woods. Ren is prepared to do whatever he has to do to convince Natalie to give up Freihof’s location, but after arriving at the cabin and spending time with her, Ren realises something he’d never really considered – Natalie is a victim of Freihof’s, too, and she’s been on the run for six long years.
Ren is drawn to Natalie in ways he never imagined he would be – his world is dark and full of evil, and Natalie represents the good and the light. He doesn’t want to involve her in his shadowy world, but she lived there for years during her marriage to Freihof, a controlling and sadistic man who abused her physically, mentally and emotionally. Natalie is a survivor, and her spirit shines... and Ren finds himself unable to resist her.
He’s on a deadline to bring Natalie in and gain her co-operation, but a run in with a mountain lion throws everything off and he’s not able to tell Natalie who he really is before time is up. Once she finds out, she’s understandably withdrawn, but determined to stop her ex at all costs – even if it means risking her own life.
Freihof’s final act of terror towards Natalie is both horrific and a testament to the strength of a woman who refuses to give in to evil. It will make your heart skip a terrified beat or two, but the bad guy FINALLY gets what he deserves and true love conquers all, which is exactly how I love my romance books to end. A triumphant conclusion to what has been a stunning series.
An ardent love story and an explosive finale to the riveting romantic suspense series that has kept the readers on the edge fearing for the protagonists' lives, while swooning over the ardent romance. Natalie's survival instinct and strength to withstand the horrible abuse her ex-husband Freihoff, the searched after killer and domestic terrorist, done on her made me admire her while her destiny broke my heart. To think that she was so whole, so strong, still standing and taking care of herself after everything she went through is nothing sort of amazing. One of the things that I truly admire about Janie Crouch's writing is the way she builds her heroines to be tough, capable, smart, independent women, with an inner strength that carries them through the worst possible scenarios life can put them in. Ren had a bit worried at the beginning, I admit, but I warmed up to him soon, when I witnessed his kindness, his good heart, his struggles with honesty while working undercover, and his aim to protect and guard Natalie with everything in him. The sweet and luscious love story developing between Ren and Natalie is the center of the story, capturing my heart, making me sigh because of the tangible, strong connection between them, the way they get each other, and oddly enough, the trust that was building between despite the circumstances. The secrets Ren had to keep to accomplish his mission, to stop the terrorist attack yet keep Natalie safe while getting her co-operation gave the story intensity and put the whole situation on a frail edge that could crumble at any moment. The wild nature surrounding them while on hiding put their endurance on a test, yet it is the threat from the fellow humans that can end their lives before they have a chance to explore the passion and feelings flaming between them. The smoothly flowing and well-written story pulls you in, brings all the feels into the surface, and makes you fall in love with the characters. I loved how the whole Omega team was present in the tale while the suspense was fierce, each doing what they are the best at. They pulled Natalie into their fold and brought me in tears with the support and kindness they showed her. With the delightfully tender and gentle love story for the founder of the Omega sector, the agency bit farewell to the readers, with the final showdown to capture the terrorist that has plagued them for so long, tortured themselves and their loved ones and even killed their own. Now I want to go and binge-read the whole series again... ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side
3.5 stars. A well written suspense romance. As usual, I've picked up book six, in a six book series. 😐 I had no problem understanding the back story, as it was pretty much the law enforcement team closing in on the bad guy they'd been hunting from book one. If I had realised, I would have read the stories in order.
(Each book is stand alone re the couples and their individual plots. All the characters make a brief appearance at the end, so mild spoilers.)
I liked the story, the H/h and the action. There's not a great deal of description in the steamy scenes, but some good slow burn chemistry in the lead up. There's drama, suspense and angst, plus the bad guy is suitably horrible. I'll be reading more by this author. 😍
Did you ever want to kick the hero? Hard? Multiple times? I did. But those postcards...oh, my (sigh). Wonderful thriller romance. Great characters. Straightforward, realistic plot. Loved this book!
This is a truly engaging, suspenseful and intriguing romance. From the start you will become so invested in the lives of the characters, you will feel the anxiety of the suspense and the anticipation of the heartache yet to come. Natalie and Ren will weave themselves into your heart, and you won’t want to let them go.
The story is fast paced, action packed and will keep your attention from beginning to end. The characters are well-developed, the emotions are high, and the passion is steamy. The storyline of the series is intense and compelling, but each story can be read as a standalone. You may find it more enjoyable if the stories are read in succession as the characters are integrated into the whole series. I highly recommend you read this story and the series!
First book I have read by this author and it was amazing. Full of drama, suspense, action, adventure, unusual situations and circumstances and romance. It had a strong cast of characters and a solid, engaging storyline. It was non-stop excitement all the way to the end.
My heart went out to Natalie. She had been through a lot in her abusive marriage and even though she was able to escape by faking her death, she still never felt safe. She became excessively compulsive in regards to her safety, always searching and watching, trying to be as plain and forgettable as possible and always checking, re-checking and checking again all the doors and window locks at home. She just knew deep down that her ‘death’ would not last forever, that her obsessive ex would come for her and next time it would be the end. She worked many jobs for cash under the table just to have food and shelter but she always had her bag packed and ready to go at a minutes notice. Even though she seemed weak, she was resilient and had a core inner strength and a determination to survive.
Ren, on the other hand, I really was determined to not like him. He gave Natalie such a hard time in the beginning and with the befriending and setup, I just wanted to strangle him. However, knowing his side of events and what had happened to his friends and others he worked with because of Natalie’s ex, it made it easier to understand where he was coming from. He was definitely a leader, strong and sure of himself and his mission. He had already deemed Natalie guilty and was sure she could lead him to her ex so they could end his reign of madness for good. The more interaction he had with Natalie and the more they talked and shared about their lives you could tell he was a good man with strong convictions just wanting to keep those important to him safe.
I enjoyed the drama between all the characters in the book and the pace of Ren and Natalie’s friendship to romance relationship. I also liked the postcards, that was a nice sweet touch. There are also some somber moments, moments of excitement, smiles, laughter, and tears. Great read, all around. * I received an ARC of this book from the author with no obligation to review. The thoughts expressed in this review are non-biased and completely my own.
This was first published on my blog "Lecture toute une Aventure"
Ren is a fantastic character, we learned about him a little before in the series but he has a complex personality and his life is full of mysteries since he spent most of it undercover. I really enjoyed learning more about him and to see him act as well....he is really the perfect match for someone like Nathalie
Nathalie has fear deeply set in her bones...beside psychological trauma, her body as well as her psyche show the traces of Damien torture.... she took the opportunity she saw to flee but she never felt free always terrified he would find her again....but no matter how much she suffered...deep inside she is still a good person, she shows compassion and when she can help other she does...it's really telling how courageous she is.
This story was all i wanted it to be...there was tension, moments where i cried, moments where i laughed all together with the Damien arc coming to an end and while i love this series it was really time for him to meet his fate and for the rest of the characters to be able to breathe a little... It was a page turner from the beginning and if this could work as a standalone i prefer to recommend you to read it in order so you have a deeper insight of what the characters have suffered to help understand how far they are willing to go to succeed. It's said they suffered yes but it's it's too light explanation for what they really endured so this series is better read in order for sure.
It's a great romance with a excellent dose of suspense so i recommend it without any hesitation or doubt!
It all comes back to bite him! When terrorist Damien Freihof began his rampage on the Omega Sector unit, he claimed it was revenge for them killing his wife, but circumstances lead them to believe she's not really dead, and that she might be just the bait they need to bring this madman out of the woodwork so they can take him down once and for all. This has been an exciting series with lots of twist and turns, and this book was a fairly fitting end to it all.
Omega Sector founder Ren McClement will stop at nothing to bring down the terrorist who has been attacking his group of highly trained law enforcement officers for the last few months. Freihof has killed, injured and tormented more than anyone can stand, so Ren's determined to bring his reign of terror to an end once and for all ... even if he has to use an innocent party to do it!
Natalie Anderson has been on the run from her demented husband for several years now, and she should know better than to trust a man she runs across, but Ren seems so sincere. Little does she know that he knows exactly who she is and who she's running from ... he just believes she's an accomplice instead of a victim! As he comes to know the real person, Ren wishes there was another way out of this mess, but he has no other option than to reveal that she's still alive ... will it end her life for real this time, or will he be able to save the day and keep her as well as the rest of his team safe from Damien Freihof?
This was, possibly, the most frustrating of the lot. I actually liked Ren for the most part. I liked Natalie too. But what I didn't like was the fact that he did use her ( yeah, yeah for the greater good )... but I don't think that is good enough. Natalie has gone from one prison to another. I would've been much happier to see her just... being. Or even if she had died... that would've made far more of an impact.
And... how incompetent are Omega? They throw Natalie under the bus with the media and then happily send her off with two local officers when they know that arsehole ( still can't remember his name Fleeval? ) is on the loose and has out-witted them on many more than one occasion? Deeply sighing here.
AND... and this really gets my goat. How did he manage to evade the almighty Omega for so long? And how else was he getting information from their so-called secure HQ after the timely death of Mr Fawkes? You see, I actually had an idea several books ago that more than one person would've been involved... and I had decided that other person was Cynthia. ( I think that was her name - one of Steve's four assistants... why he needed four when he couldn't even keep the building safe... I don't know.... )
I think part of my irritation is that I kept hoping and hoping and hoping...
So... looks like I'm going to fall into darkness... and tho I am not small... I am fierce.
Ren, a member of the Omega Sector, is determined to take down a terrorist, and he knows the way to do it...through the man's wife, Natalie, who he believed was helping Damien. The only issue is she's supposed to have died years ago. Ren and his co-workers have since learned differently, and his plan is to use her as bait. What he didn't expect was his reaction to her.
Natalie did what she needed to in order to escape Damien, even faking her own death. And it worked until Ren tracked her down. Of course, their meeting was under false pretenses, something she doesn't learn until they're in danger.
Though Ren has a change of heart after meeting Natalie and getting to know her, he comes clean too late and it destroys the trust she had in him. His goal now is to not only prove his growing love for her is real, but to also rid her of the threat of her ex once and for all. Something that will save numerous lives, if only they can stop him in time.
Can Natalie move past Ren's deception? Can she let go of her life with Damien that still haunts her and move forward? Will Ren be able to prove to Natalie his feelings are real? Will Ren and his team be able to stop Damien before he reins destruction upon their heads? Is a HEA possible for them?
One-click now and follow along as two people who begin a relationship founded on lies must decide if they can overcome that and what's to come.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**
Wow, just Wow! I received and ARC for a review. This is the first book I have read of Janie's and now wish I had read the first five books before this one. Do Not I repeat Do Not start this book if you have some place you need to be or something you should be doing. Cause by the time you have read the first page your not stopping till book is done. Its that good. Drama, suspense, danger, abusive husband, cocky lawman, and not to be missed the romance too. Ren McClement, is the head strong, opinionated head of Omega. After finding out that the ex wife of the Terrorist Damie Frelhof is still alive he set out to use her to get his man. He wins Natalie over even thru she usually doesn't trust anyone. With his charm, good looks and easy way. Only problem is his plan doesn't work out like he planned. Other unknowing events take over leaving both Ren and Natalie in danger. Many twist and turns to come, don't want to give anything away. Gab a copy and start reading ! Am going to get the first books and read them too now. I hope you love the ending as much as I did, it's great.
I enthusiastically requested the ARC of this book, as I have read and really enjoyed this author. The book, In the Lawman's Protection was a great end to the Omega Sector books. I have read only some of the series but had also reviewed the prior book, so I was up to date on some of the characters.
This book follows the story of Natalie Anderson Freihof, who the Omega team think will lead them to her husband, Damien, the super villain to this series. As the story begins, we learn that Natalie is a domestic abuse survivor who is still in hiding from her ex-husband. As part of the Omega team’s plan they force Natalie to go on the run and there she meets Ren McClement. He is the founding member of the team and is skeptical of Natalie.
As the story continues, they are forced together and begin to develop a relationship. Unfortunately, Natalie does not know Ren’s real identity. Their chemistry and relationship were well written and I really enjoyed that part of the story. Yet there is a lot of action and adventure mixed in to keep you on the edge of your seat. Additionally, I thought the ending had a very realistic time line that made it a bit more believable.
In the Lawman's Protection is the sixteenth book in the Omega Sector Universe Series (Omega Sector: Under Siege Book #6) by Janie Crouch. I am reviewing The Omega Sector Universe series, which is made up of 16 engrossing reads and comprises of three connected series. Omega Sector Omega Sector: Critical Response Omega Sector: Under Siege This is a compelling collection of romantic suspense novels that blends high-stakes action with emotionally engaging storylines. The series focuses on a team of elite operatives who face dangerous missions while navigating complex personal relationships- resulting in a dynamic and immersive reading experience. Each book in the series offers a unique storyline while maintaining a connection to the overarching universe. The characters are well-developed, with their personal struggles, highs and lows, adding depth to the storylines. The balance between suspenseful plot twists and heartfelt romance ensured an engaging read throughout. Happy Reading…
Six years ago, Natalie Anderson Freihof took advantage of the confusion surrounding a bank robbery gone bad to fake her death and escape an abusive husband. She’s been on the run ever since.
To avenge Natalie’s death, her ex-husband has mounted a one-man reign of terror on Omega Sector, the agency he holds responsible for her death.
When Omega agents discover Natalie alive and well in Santa Barbara, living in a million-dollar oceanside mansion, Ren McClement is convinced she is helping her ex with his agenda. Getting information from her any way possible becomes his sole focus.
In this conclusion to the six-book series Omega Sector: Under Siege, Janie Crouch King proves to be the master of plotting. In the Lawman's Protection is tightly written and satisfying. I am sorry to say good bye to the Omega franchise, but am looking forward to Crouch’s new endeavor, Linear Tactical, coming this fall.
I have enjoyed the previous stories of this series and have to say this one is my favorite . Damien Freihof, is a terrorist that has been after after the Omega Sector when his wife is killed during a bank robbery. Now it seems that she is alive. But is she working for him? Ren McClement, the creator of Omega Sector, a group of elite law enforcement men and women , decides they need to find her . Since the group is short of members, he takes that assignment. Little did he know that both their lives would change forever. The story is filled with suspense, good guys, an evil man, lies, near death experiences, and romance. But trust is tested and things don’t run smoothly. If you have enjoyed the previous books, you will get a chance to revisit the lives of the previous characters. Problems will be resolved and loose ends will be tied. A great story not to be missed. I voluntarily read this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Natalie is on the run from her ex and has been in hiding for six years. Her ex is a killer who has out to kill as many of the Omega Sector agents he can. Ren is an Omega Sector agent and goes undercover to get close to Natalie thinking she is a partner with her ex and helping him with his crimes. Ren's assignment is time sensitive due to the fact that Natalie's ex has stolen biological canisters. The more time they spend together the more he realizes he was wrong about Natalie and now he not only has to protect her but has to worry how Natalie will feel about him after she learns the truth.
The ending of this story was so great I read it twice. I loved the omega sector series. They had all the action, suspense and romance you would like in a story. I can't say enough about jc's books. They are the best romantic suspense stories and you do not want to miss reading them.
I received a copy and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion.
This was an amazing conclusion to this fabulous series of Omega Sector books. The team working together finally take down Damien who had made their lives a living hell. Ren who formed Omega Sector set up an elaborate plan to get Damien's ex wife Natalie to either contact him or be used as bait to catch him. As Ren found out as his plan unfolded Natalie was hiding and running from Damien for six years and was not working with this monster. As Ren and Natalie start to fall in love , he was about to tell her the truth, Ren is attacked by a mountain lion and Natalie saves his life. The series of events that happens was action packed as the Omega team, Natalie and Ren take down this terrorist. It has a happy ending as Natalie and Ren get their happily ever after when she has time to heal first. This was just an amazing romantic action packed series of books that I highly recommend.
6 years ago Natalie escaped her evil, abusive husband. She's been able to stay hidden from him even though she constantly fears he will find her. By a strange happenstance Omega Sector gets a lock on her location. Her ex has been after the members of Omega Sector for years...trying to kill them and those close to them. Ren created the agency and wants to end Damien's reign of terror. He thinks Natalie has been aiding Damien all these years so he comes up with a plan to use her. Will he see his mistake too late? Janie Crouch gives us an excellent romantic suspense story. A fast moving story with great suspense, a sweet romance and relatable characters. I loved watching Natalie grow stronger and more confident...and loved how Ren helped her through the tough moments as best as he could. I really loved this book and highly recommend it.
In this book, the hero decides to tempt out the evil mastermind of this series. Proactive instead of reactive.
The heroine knows intimately what the evil mastermind is like and just how evil he is. She doesn’t want anything to do with him and wants to keep under his radar.
However, our hero wants to taunt the evil mastermind using the heroine. He was thinking she was working with the mastermind, but found that wasn’t the case. Then came the real challenge.
When the final showdowns happen, the evil mastermind is out minded by both the hero and heroine.
The overall plot is different than what I was expecting, but was good and different. However, this book felt like the whole thing was forced and, in turn, I felt forced to keep reading. And this is after I really wanted to read this story.
This was an excellent end to the Omega Sector: Under Siege series. Even though I knew most of the characters from previous books, how the story rolled out was the part of the intrigue. There were so many great things: Sweet Mother of Chocolate is one my new favorite sayings. I also loved how the author incorporated post cards as a means of communication later in the story. Ren is your standard hero character. There was a lot of attention to detail about trauma survivors. Natalie seemed like a young damsel in distress but she really showed her strength and the struggle to survive. There are actually a lot of strong females in this series. Since this was the last book in this series, it was nice to read about some of the previous characters from the other books. Well done!
This story continues the hunt for the enemy of the Omega swat team, as in the previous books, but can be read as a standalone. Ren is determined to end Freihof's reign of terror, the way to do this he thinks, is through Freihof's 'dead' wife Natalie. Ren believes she is still alive and working for Freihof, but if she is innocent, he will set her up as bait to catch Freihof. This story is well written with good characters. There is great understanding from the author of Natalie's fears and trauma. It shows how a meticulous thought out plan can go wrong, from an unexpected incident, and how not to make assumptions, about someone you have never met. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author.
This was the perfect ending for this series. Bonus: we got to learn more about the mysterious Ren! It was a heartbreaking and emotionally charged story, especially reading about Natalie's life with Damien, and the unimaginable horrors inflicted. With the newest threat hanging over them, Omega Sector is once again pulling out all of the stops to locate the evil mastermind, and hopefully end his reign of terror. It's certainly not a story to be missed. I have absolutely loved this series, and really wished that there were more stories in the series. It's definitely a series that I would love to read more about. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
Oh boy this one made my heart melt! And the ending is absolutely sigh worthy. I couldn't ask for a better way to spend a few hours of quiet time. This is my favorite by Janie Crouch to date. While I love her male characters, it's her female ones I connect with most. Crouch's female characters are strong and not necessarily in physical strength. There are other ways to be strong and contribute in a relationship or a conflict. Natalie has an amazing inner strength. She may seem beaten but she's not. Not by a long shot. This book is sweet, romantic and at the same time, full of suspense, you won't be able to put it down.
Wow ... what an amazing book. For those that read Janie’s books this is the last one in the Omega Sector Series. This story is Ren & Natalie’s. Ren was the creater of the Omega team and Natalie is Friehoff’s “dead” wife. Ren believes that Natalie is still in contact with Friehoff & he plans to expose Natalie. This book has some amazing twists to it & we learn more of what Natalie’s life was like during her marriage. I loved the relationship that developed even though Ren was being selective with the truth. A gripping story we see most of the Omega team & a great ending. A must read for all Janie fans.
Omg, this was well worth the wait. This book has it all. This is the final chapter in the OMEGA series. Ren is the founder of Omega, he goes under cover to get Natalie to help him get her ex husband. At first he thinks, she is working with her ex. But then sparks fly and so does the drama and suspense and action. This book was the perfect ending, to this amazing series. Trust me, you don't want to miss this explosive ending.
I did recieve a copy of this book. However I chose to do a review. I have bought all the previous books and I was so waiting to read this final book. It is a great series and I wanted to share my thoughts with you.
