Zombies are one of my favorite tropes in horror. Eddie comes out with a fresh take on the classic zombie trope. A woman who gives birth to a zombie after getting infected. As the story went along, I actually found myself cheering for Susan as she tried to protect her zombaby.

It's the classic showdown of a zombie mom trying to protect her offspring against the government, which doesn't necessarily have the cleanest of intentions, as they want to experiment on her and her son. The story has the feel of a movie playing in your head.

It's a classic zombie tale that's entertaining, but it's not something you've read millions of times. I found myself having fun with this one!

If you like zombie books then you need to give this one a shot! It starts right as everything begins at a wedding in Savannah, GA. It is fast paced and will have you thinking you are watching a zombie movie. It is fun to see the story of a zombie mom just trying to keep her zombie kid alive(ish). Definitely recommend!

This was a weird overall tale that does have its moments. One of the better features here is the rather emotional and generally gripping second half that comes about with the increasing activity trying to bring a new series of members into the zombie army. As everything comes together incredibly well with the build-up beforehand featuring the amount of depth in their relationship so that we can get a sense of just how much motherly devotion and love she has for her newborn baby, the gradual evolution that she’s able to not only change her appearance at will but also communicate with other zombies to get them under her control so that she can unleash an army to protect her son is quite fun. The frenetic action, graphic gore, and emotional resonance of what’s on display here are handled quite well as it leans into this aspect of the zombie canon.

That said, there are some problems with the story. The main factor here is the seemingly jumbled and scattershot story, where it seems incredulous to believe that a virus of this scale and magnitude will be allowed this much leniency and lackadaisical government oversight depicted here. The multiple depictions of the couple’s escape from the zombie-crashed wedding they were attending turn out to be a decent enough starting point, but the way the story is handled after that is hard to believe. As it’s determined that various branches of the government are aware of everything happening, not just with this location, but we’re told of other encounters with the zombie virus along other points of the coastal portion of the country, it doesn’t serve any logical reasoning for their hands-off approach to the wife.

Knowing how close she was in proximity to the husband before the incident on the plane ride home, how quickly he turned, and what happened with him once that happened, to see them be more concerned with months-long surveillance, more than any kind of quarantine or more intense forms of scrutiny, feels incredibly unlikely to see play out. As this becomes more pronounced the longer it goes, with how much monitoring the government is doing versus what should be done with the situation, the story as a whole starts somewhat clunky, and although it does get fixed during the book, there’s still that starting point to get through. Also challenging to navigate is the clunky writing style, with awkward dialogue that reveals exposition or conversations that lack realistic beats, making for a somewhat difficult read.

What Did I Just Walk Into?
A zombie wedding massacre leads to a baby shower from hell. Susan survives an undead outbreak, loses her husband, gains a virus, and later gives birth to the world’s hungriest newborn—who just happens to be a full-blown zombie. She’s half-zombie herself, trying to keep her little flesh vacuum fed while dodging Homeland Security and plotting to build a zombie army. Honestly, she’s just one diaper blowout away from total collapse.

Here’s What Slapped:
Old-school Romero-style chaos with a side of Mommy Dearest.
Creative feeding scenes that toe the line between horrifying and darkly hilarious.
Government agents written like they belong in a Syfy original movie—in the best possible way.
Susan is somehow both nightmare fuel and relatable (minus the brain snacks).
Reads like a gory B-movie you’d watch at midnight with pizza and regret.

What Could’ve Been Better:
Government response was way too “meh” for an active zombie mom situation.
Dialogue occasionally clunky enough to trip over.
Could’ve gone even harder on the horror-comedy balance—lean in to the absurdity!

Perfect for Readers Who Love:
Train to Busan but wish it had a playpen
Parental devotion cranked to apocalyptic extremes
Gory pulp horror with zero apologies

A mother will do anything for her child even if she and the baby are flesh eating zombies. And that's exactly what you're getting in this action packed old school novel featuring gruesome deaths and a whole lot of undead mayhem.

Susan and her husband are attending a wedding when zombies begin to attack. He gets scratched and they barely escape with their lives. Hoping to avoid reporters, they celebrate their escape with some wine and sex. However, her husband has been infected and will suffer a horrible fate.

A few months later, Susan finds out she's pregnant but not only has she been infected with the zombie virus but so has her baby boy. After he (it) is born, she'll do ANYTHING to make sure he's fed and kept safe.

In this world though the government is well aware of zombie outbreaks and when they learn about Zombie Mom and zombie baby, it's a bloody showdown. Susan wants to infect an army of zombies while a government agency wants to capture her and her baby to experiment on.

This reads like an old school zombie book with a straightforward narrative, plenty of blood and action, and occasional dark humor along the way. This novel does exactly what the title suggests and we'll see how this zombie Mom can kind of control herself. Half zombie and half human taking care of a bloodthirsty full on zombie baby who has no love for anyone other than his mother.

The story plays like a movie in your head and it's definitely a movie I'd like to watch. It's fun, fast paced, and filled with gore. I highly recommend it.

Alright so I just read this here ebook Zombie Mom: A Motherly Horror by Eddie J. Morales and let me tell ya it was wild.

First it start's off with Susan and Vince at some fancy wedding on a island down by Savannah. Boom outta nowhere zombies start crashing the party like it was a open bar and Susan and Vince gotta fight their way out. Then later Susan finds out she is pregnant. Guess what. Her baby comes out lookin real scary.

Then she starts feeling sick too and the government along with the CDC and Homeland they are all up in her business all day every day like nosy neighbors with clipboards. Susan is just trying to hide her baby and figure out how to feed him without the whole town knowing she has got herself a zombie baby. She still loves him like any mama would so you are rooting for her even tho she's about to fall apart.

The writing keeps you hooked. It's like you are on a busted rollercoaster with no seatbelt. You think its funny at first then you realize this woman really has got herself a zombie baby. Now she is a zombie mom trying to keep it all together.

I ain't gonna lie this ebook is crazy but I couldn't put it down. I laughed. I shook my head more than once. It isn't your normal zombie story. Its got heart and nasty guts too but mostly heart.

I give it 5 outta 5 catfish!

In the world according to Eddie J Morales, a zombie virus does not necessarily mean the end of everything. Outbreaks happen and are dealt with. It’s a cool idea with lots of potential.
One such outbreak occurs in the opening paragraphs of his latest work, Zombie Mom. A young couple barely survives a wedding gone wrong, but they do not emerge unscathed. The wife conceives soon after, and you guessed it, she is to be a zombie mom.
And this is where the fun begins.
What would a mother do to protect her child. More to the point, what wouldn’t she do? Zombie or not, Susan does what she must to keep the authorities from taking her baby, giving us loads of bloody entertainment leading up to a perfectly fitting and satisfying ending.
Five stars for a fun and creepy read!

This was a concept in Zombie I hadn't thought about before. If you think regular kids are bad, Zombie Kids are much worse! But, the super power Zombie Mom has is a fun idea that I certainly think could be used in future installments!

If you want something different to read that'll make you think "What If?" instead of "How fast do they run?" Try this one.

Only Eddie Morales could make me feel emotional about a zombie baby. Zombie Mom is weirdly heartwarming, horrifying, and hilarious all at once, like The Walking Dead had a baby with This Is Us. I’ll never look at baby formula the same way again.

I want to encourage you to read this very fun and very unique take on zombies. Zombie Mom is the story of a woman who finds herself pregnant shortly after her husband succumbs to a zombie virus. Little did she know, her husband was mid-zombification at the time of conception, and what she's carrying isn't totally human...

What will Susan do to protect her little zombie baby? How will carrying a zombified pregnancy affect her? This book is incredibly creative and took so many wild turns. It's highly entertaining and offers something different!
