Just a few thoughts about this one.

One of the hallmarks of a good book is for the research to fall seemlessly into the background, making the world the story is set in feel more alive. But there is a fine line between that and having it take over. This book is one such instance where the research overshadows the story in a big way. Most of the book just screamed 'Look at me! I know how a hospital emergency room works!' and not 'Hey, this is a sweet love story of two people reuniting what never should have split in the first place.' The plot was so thin you could read the newspaper through the threadbare tatters because of this.

My next beef is with the heroine. I cannot and will not ever agree with a woman holding a man in contempt about not being around when a baby is in the picture when she hid it from him the whole time. Not only that, but she's completely in the wrong blaming him for not being there when the baby dies the day it's born. Well duh, you weren't together, he was out of town, never got theessage, and when he did, she had disappeared. Zero blame can be laid on the hero for this one, honey. No amount of explaining will ever make it otherwise.

Third, when she's all up in arms about him having an 'affair'. Sorry again, chickypoo... you were 'just friends' by your own admission, therefore no affair to be had. Suck it up, buttercup.

Ms Anderson has a knack for creating characters that are realistic and easy to become involved in. This is an emotional reunion romance. Nick and Sally have hurt each other in the past but without malice. It's now seven years later. Realizing why relationships never seemed to work out for him, Nick spends two years trying to track Sally down. Sally's shaken when Nick turns up as the new registrar in her busy A & E, but then wonders if they have a second chance to make it work this time. I loved reading Nick and Sally's journey to HEA.

This novel was emotionally paralyzing at times. I couldn't imagine the pain involved in losing the person you love by his choice and then losing her baby. Too much pain. Wow!
