Parish & Richards investigate what appears to be the simple case of a woman who was sexually assaulted and murdered in her own apartment, but Richards is convinced it's the work of a serial killer . . . Stick & Xena attend the A&E at King George Hospital to investigate a woman who says that she murdered her boyfriend, but things are a lot more complicated than they first appear. And then Xena gets some bad news . . . Jerry Kowalski is back at the office. She's dealing with a client who lives in a high-rise called Butterfield Spire, which is owned by recluse Israel Voss. There's a smell, but the building supervisor won't let her bring in the experts to investigate . . .
Tim Ellis was born in the bowels of Hammersmith Hospital, London, on a dark and stormy night, and now lives in Cheshire with his wife and one ShihTzu. In-between, he joined the Royal Army Medical Corps at eighteen and completed twenty-two years service, leaving in 1993 having achieved the rank of Warrant Officer Class 1 (Regimental Sergeant Major). Since then, he settled in Essex, and worked in secondary education as a senior financial manager, in higher education as an associate lecturer/tutor at Lincoln and Anglia Ruskin Universities, and as a consultant for the National College of School Leadership. His final job, before retiring to write fiction full time in 2009, was as Head and teacher of Behavioural Sciences (Psychology/Sociology) in a secondary school. He has a PhD and an MBA in Educational Management, and an MA in Education.
An enjoyable read as ever, a couple of errors though, firstly during Chapter 17 Parish and Richards refer to the name of the photographer as, get this - Andrew Shelton but later on when they actually go to see him he is called Ryan Hadfield!!
Later in the book when Stick phones the hospital for a DNA sample, Stick refers to Parish and Richards victim rather than the one for his case, but on the next page he was actually phoning about his case and not Parish and Richards.
other than that I couldn't put it down and read it in 3 sittings in around 24 hours.
I've now caught up with the series and looking for another series to read whilst waiting for book 15 to come out!
