Dog Lover who likes her pastries full of cream and sugar...oh...and I write some ;-)

Aside from being an author, I am also a mom to a beautiful little girl. I tell everyone I named her after my great-grandmother (because that's the mature answer), but really, I named her after my favorite princess - just so happens I got lucky and they had the same name...If I wasn't a writer, I would work on a horse ranch - I'm an animal lover (in addition to dogs, horses are at the top of my list). I wear flip-flops pretty much everywhere I go. I would rather stay awake until 5 am than get up at 5 am (years of bar tending have left their mark), if I can, I'm going to the beach AND I will always be nice to people who bring me chocolate...or coffee...if you bring me both, I'll probably love you forever.

I write the way I live, following the story wherever it may lead, always ready to start the next one. This is clearly reflected in my body of work which to date includes everything from Children's Lit to Thrillers.
I happily reside in sunny Florida (for now) with my daughter and three dogs.

I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review.

This is my first time reading this Author, and this book was good! Her writing is smooth, and easy to understand. I feel like it took a little bit for the book to get going, and I was surprised by the outcome; but I liked the storyline.I like how sassy the main character Rumor was. Got to love a girl that can hold her own!

On a more personal level, per my taste, I wish the book would have been a little more sexy. I also would have liked a secondary character to add a little something to the book.

With all that being said, I would recommend this book. It was an easy, fast, and fun read. I just wanted a little more bite!

It's Kinda My Thing

My Rating: 2½★

K.S. Thomas is a new-to-me author and this story was my first foray into her writing. For more than 60% of the story, I thought the romantic tale was what happened between Rumor and Brody. They had a long-standing history and Rumor had an unrequited love for a known man-whore. Fast forward a few years, Rumor is living a fabulously glamorous life in Las Vegas, thanks to a magnanimous benefactor named Shaun. It was hard to get a bead on Rumor and Shaun's relationship. You could tell they cared for one another but their relationship just seemed like one of two caring friends.

At her day job delivering singing telegrams, Rumor has to deliver the unhappy news to a groom-to-be that his intended bride has cheated on him. As fate would have it, the unlucky groom is none other than Brody. Her Brody. Brody is thrust back into Rumor's life and they pretty much pick their relationship back up. Although the Rumor in this one is colder and more closed off -- a direct result of Brody's earlier actions.

I won't rehash all the story for you but I will say that I honestly didn't care for any of the characters in this story. Not Hailey (she was a bish). Not Brody (he was a dawg). Not Rumor (she was fickle). Not Shaun (he was manipulative). The story just left me feeling unfulfilled because I couldn't feel for any of them. Brody and Rumor were childish in their dealings with one another. He went back to Hailey so then she decides she is going to randomly hook up with a man in front of him. The back and forth between them was just giving me whiplash. And then when they FINALLY get over themselves to do the deed, at about 50% into the story and after all the sexual tension between them, the entire experience is faded to black with them gasping and catching their breaths on the next page after they were done.

After all of that and a bit more drama between Brody and Rumor, with Shaun standing on the sideline. The scrip is flipped. Like totally! When it happened I couldn't believe it. And again, I won't say because I don't want to ruin it for other readers. But, I was not at all pleased about how things happened. I wanted the characters to grow up and even at the end, I still felt that Rumor had a lot of growing up to do. Her decision making abilities were....not good. Granted, what happened in the end was probably the best out of all the scenarios but wow it took her going through a lot and doing a lot more to see something that was very apparent all along once you started backtracking clues.

All in all, I was not particular satisfied with this one. Although it wasn't my cuppa, other readers may enjoy the angst and drama of the story.

After two years of playing cat and mouse, Rue runs away from her best friend and sexual obsession. Three years later, he re-enters her life in the most unexpected of ways. Rue believes his matured and ready to own her heart, but is it too little, too late?

This story has a moral to live by. Never settle for less than what you deserve. I was rooting for a character that I knew never stood a chance. I cried when Rue cried, I laughed when she laughed. Her snarky and quick-witted attitude had me from page one. This is a definite best-seller in the making.

I have a love hate relationship with this book. I was thrown for a loop on the way it ended.

It was pretty angsty and everyone knows how much I enjoy angst in the books I read.

I have mixed emotions when it comes to this book.

Rumor was a wonderful character. When she breaks up her ex boyfriends wedding. He was the last person she expected to be at the altar.

Brody's character always seemed unsure of things with Rumor. They have known each other for a long time. They would take one step forward then two steps back.

Then there is Shaun. He has taken care of Rumor at her worst. He is Rich and gives her anything she wants. They have never took it past the friend zone.

Let's just say you should expect the unexpected. Things did not go the way I thought and I am not sure if I'm happy with that or upset.

This was a great book if your looking for something to mess with your emotions.

The problem I had with this book and the reason I gave it only 4 stars was because I feel like there should have been more to lead up to that ending.

All in all it was worth the read. I'm happy I had the chance to read it.

DNF AT 80%

WHAT?... that was not what I expected. This book just tourned upside down and not in a good way for me.

I was engaged in a story line and then suddenly I have to come to terms with this other situation that I did not see coming ('cause there was not a hint in 100 pages) and it's supposed to be a good thing? NO.

As a reader, it blew the whole book off. I could barely feel sorry for Rumor but then, with her "reveal" I just hated this immature, selfish girl. Ugh. I'd just like to forget this whole story and I'm sure I will.

It’s Kinda My Thing
By C.B Stone
***** A must-read, work of art
The beautiful simplicity of It’s My Kinda Thing by C.B. Stone made it difficult put down. – finished in a day. Stone doesn’t mesh words when telling the contemporary tale of Rumor Davis and her no fuss life in Las Vegas. That is until an old flame that was never fully extinguished shows up again, in of all places, his wedding to another woman.
Rumor and Brody Holmes have a history in Wyoming that was never quite resolved before she ran away to Vegas to start a new life, and a new life she definitely was able to create for herself. Her hope was to make a life with her voice somehow, music being her passion. But in the meantime she worked doing singing telegrams and it just so happened that she was sent to do one at Brody’s wedding to Hailey, something Rumor wasn’t aware of. And it was one designed to destroy the marriage that was about to take place.
What happens next is a test of something Rumor had always hoped for, a chance with Brody Holmes back home in Wyoming. During the trials and tribulations of trying to figure out if they’re truly meant to be she forgets about Shaun Penny, the man Brody named her “sugar daddy” out of jealousy. And then there’s the shot at a career in music career in New York. What’s a girl to do?
I hesitate to say much more about this page-turner because I don’t want to spoil it for you. It’s My Kinda Thing is witty and unexpected. You won’t want to put it down. It being told in the voice of the three main players makes it relatable and deeply insightful. My only caution is that it is definitely “R” rated. There is adult language and adult content throughout. I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone under the age of 18.
C.B. Stone’s It’s My Kinda Thing is an unrestrained look into the life of a “real” woman living a real life with all its trials and tribulations. I highly recommend this quick read and am super interested in learning if there are other books written by Stone because I definitely like the vibe of this contemporary piece

~Katheryn's Review~

I just finished reading It's Kinda My Thing, by K.S. Thomas. I enjoyed reading this book. Rumor is quite a character, LOL. Did not catch any grammar mistakes, then again I am the type that catches misspelled words not grammar, LOL, and I did not catch any misspelled words. It was pretty easy to follow, it really only went back and forth from past and present just a couple of times. I like the way the author painted the character of Rumor, I could picture what she would look like in person. It was very interesting to watch the relationship between Rumor and Shaun evolve. Starting the book with the singing telegram, and that it was her ex, was priceless. I really thought she would end up with her ex, but when she confessed her feelings for Shaun that was awesome, especially that she surprised herself with the confession. Would enjoy seeing second book regarding Rumor and Shaun, and their wedding and maybe throw in a pregnancy.

~~~Doris's Review~~~
I enjoyed this book. It is a romantic love story of a young woman trying to find herself. She has escaped her hometown for Las Vegas. Rumor is trying to mend her broken heart. Brody the love of her life has moved on and she is crushed. In Las Vegas she throws herself into doing singing grams until she finds something better. Her dream is a singing career, and she wants to do on her own. She has been living with Shaun whom she met on her first day. He has asked her to move into his penthouse and they have become fast besties. Rumor is still not happy with who she is. She struggles with her identity in this fast-paced book of a young woman coming of age and understanding what she really wants.
Rumor Davis has always had aspirations of being a singer but wants to do it on her own so she sings telegrams instead in Las Vegas. When she ends up revealing that a girl has been cheating on her fiance at the altar she discovers that she has broken up the wedding of Brody Holmes, the boy she had a crush on back in high school in Wyoming.
Will Brody make right this time around and will Rumor decide to put her own dreams back on hold in order to go back to Wyoming?
When Rumor's roommate, Shaun tells Rumor to be honest about how she feels with Brody will everything fall into place like she always wanted?
This was such a great book about second chances and unlikely love!
I really liked that Rumor was trying to deal with things on her own and was not accepting hand outs beyond her living arrangements. It was interesting to see the girl she had turned into due to her own split with Brody the first time.
Brody was not about to let Rumor go a second time and I loved watching him figure out everything. Yet Hailey was also not about to let Brody go and it was interesting watching her fight for him although their relationship was so far from perfect.
I was shocked at a couple of the twists as I totally did not see them coming!! The ending was great and I was unprepared for it until a certain spot in the book!
Great read and I can't wait for more from this author!
4 Stars!
I liked this book. It was a short, quick, fun read about one girl trying to find herself in this crazy world and just maybe get her happy ending. This book was short but packed a serious punch. It was sweet, funny, steamy, full of twists and turns, and took me on one crazy ride with an ending I totally did not see coming.
This is Rumor's story. Rumor lives her best friend. They are close and he is kind of her rock and saving grace. Rumor works for a singing telegram company. When she gets her latest assignment, she doesn't expect to see someone from her past, Brody. When she realizes its him, she bolts. As Brody and Rumor reconnect, a relationship blossoms before their eyes. But can they have a happy ending or does fate have other plans for these two?
I really liked all of the characters in this book. I totally did not see the ending coming at all but honestly, it was for the best and I LOVED it! This book really shows you that big things have to happen in order for you to see what is right in front of you.
I recommend this book!
First and foremost woman I am giving you a HIGH 5 fo how you did that twist which nobody is going to see coming until after they have already turned. NICELY PLAYED!!!!!!
I see some are saying that this is juvenile but really think about it...there are plenty of times in our life that we ourselfs want to turn around and flip the bird, slap the crap, laugh in the face of that one person while pointing your finger at them.... so you know what stuff it with that juvenile crap K.S did it/wrote it just right.
Rumor aka Rue what she did and how she did it was on point. You never truly realize something is missing until....well until..
" But you're right about her heart. She doesn't hand that over anymore. Well, not to most people anyways."
"You may be the reason she wanted to lock it up, but I'm the one who showed her where to hide the key. And I ain't telling you where to find it until I know you're ready."
And that my people is what happens when you get burned by the person that you love...yet you know for a fact that this person is the one that knows how to love the greatest the hardest....
ull of snark and sarcasm, humor and not to mention plenty of steamy sex It's kinda my thing tells the tale of Rumor Davis and her two men Shaun Penny and Brody Holmes. Brody was her bad boy back home in Wyoming. After she had her heart broken the last time she headed for sin city to launch a singing career and throw away her sweet girl next door image. Her best friend and roommate Shaun Penny tries to reunite her with Brody but things happen so read on and find out. This book was told in a he said she said style so you get both points of view of the story. I highly recommend IT'S KINDA MY THING. to all K.S. Thomas fans and romance fans. You'll laugh, cry and keep reading.
I loved this story. Rumor is a girl who is sort of at a crossroads. She has a beautiful voice but her job is singing telegrams in Vegas and rooming with her BF Shaun penny. The story had great pace and the chemistry between the characters are exactly what you want. This story takes some twists and turns and then a great ending happens. I was rooting for it from the beginning. Find out by one clicking this book. Highly recommended.
Why does K.S. Thomas keep writing me more book boyfriends? I love a strong independent woman and a man who takes care of her without her realizing it. The singing telegram job is totally original and not the same old storyline we keep reading about. Fate has a funny way of working out, even when we have some people pulling the puppet strings for us!
I thought this was a really cute book. I liked all of the characters except for maybe Brody, but I kind of liked that he was an asshole. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because it was written like you talk, not necessarily correct writing grammar. There were quite a few times I had to re-read sentences to understand them. Overall funny, cute, quick, light read.
I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it after I read the first few pages but ended up reading it in one day.
It has a great twist to it which I enjoyed.
For those who don't want sex scenes this book is for you. It really didn't need them.
