I’m a USA Today bestselling author, and I’ve sold over 100 novels. Yes, 100! Needless to say, I write a lot. I’ve had the honor of receiving the Booksellers' Best Award for romantic suspense, the Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice Award, and I was a finalist for the Rita. My books have been featured in Vogue, Woman’s Day and Woman’s World. I’ve also had nearly a hundred short stories and articles published in national magazines. I love hearing from readers, and you can contact me through my webpage at: www.deloresfossen.com.
I did not care for the book. There was very little romance. I will say Grace and Dutton at least were not jumping into bed every few pages like in some books. They just seemed to be rather lukewarm about each other. The book did not have a good ending. They admitted in the end that they loved each other. But there was no mention of marriage before the baby was born or anything else.
It seemed that most of the book was spent on the fact that Cassie and Wilson wanted Grace fired.
Why was there a feud between Grace's family and Dutton's family? That was never mentioned. It seems that should have been revealed at the first part of the book. The reader only knows that there is animosity between the two families.
The book was supposed to be romantic suspense. There was very little romance and very little suspense. I don't really have any interest in reading the rest of the series.
Once I started the book, I had trouble putting it down.
I mean, how can you write about a 5 month lady sheriff who just came out of the morning sickness period only to face two major homicides involving two deputy sheriff's of the female persuasion, killed while on duty in a savage way and their bodies tied to the fence post of Dutton's ranch.
Dutton is there, when she arrives on scene and is not happy that Grace showed up. Being the father of their unborn baby, he is worried about what this whole situation could do to her and the child she carries.
The author is using her great gift to write a crime thriller that grips the reader, from the start and never lets go.
I highly recommend this great book and rate it 5 Stars.
Okay, so I'm a Delores Fossen fan. I've not been able to resist any of her Intrigue series/ Cowboy romances for years, and when this popped up in Big W I couldn't resist. Her Baby, Her Badge is an emotional ride that had me gripped from the beginning to the end, not to mention guessing! I loved the way the relationship between Grace Granger and Dutton McClennan evolved and played into the back story, and look forward to more in this Renegade Canyon series. Given this is her 150th publication, I also need to go back to find any I've missed along the way!
Love Delores Fossen books. They suck you in and they are hard to put down.
Grace is investigating a murder of a female police officer. While there to investigate Dutton, her baby daddy she is pregnant with comes to the scene because it is at his ranch.
As the investigation continues there is no shortage of suspects.
I admit I thought that I had it figured out who was behind the killings and who was after Grace and Dutton but was a little shocked.
Sheriff Grace Granger is 5 months pregnant with killer targeting female deputies and leaving them on the fence at Dutton McClennan ranch. With Dutton desire to keep Grace safe get in the her way to solve the crime. There is suspense and a hint of romance. This is the first book in Renegade Canyon series of only 2 books. 4 stars because a 5 months pregnant law officer wouldn’t be out in the field.
This book's storyline was okay. Grace's character was okay. Dutton's character was okay. I liked the ending. I think this story needed more action. I think this story needed connection between the characters.
Daniels writes excellent suspense romances, and ENGAGING THE DEPUTY will keep you glued to the pages as you ride on a twisting plot to find out who’s the killer. You’ll be surprised!
