She knows the rules of the game . . . but she can't resist his moves.
Publicist Abby Fields's career is on the rise. And with failed romances in her past, she has no time for men. When a job opportunity opens up with a sports team in Florida, Abby eagerly packs up and heads south.

Logan James is hot on and off the ice. With his team on an epic winning streak, life couldn't get better . . . until he meets Abby, the fiery redhead assigned to protect his team's image.
Now Logan's finding it difficult to concentrate on anything other than getting Abby undressed. But after a secret is leaked to the press, the taste of betrayal opens old wounds. If they can't learn to trust each other, they may risk losing more than their hearts. (50,000 words)
Shannon Richard lives in Tallahassee, FL with her adorable rescue dog Teddy—not that she’s biased or anything. She enjoys experimenting with a new recipe in the kitchen or perfecting an old one, typically done with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc in hand. She has no shame for the amount of reality T.V. she indulges in, listens to entirely too many podcasts, and is now a plant lady.
This was a first Shannon Richard read for me, and I'm definitely not disappointed. The novella was more on the sexy side than sweet, though these tow did have their moments, but I guess it'd be hard to write something that was simply sweet with two characters, Logan and Abby, who had as much chemistry as I think these two did. Although there were parts of it that were definitely predictable (like the conflict), I can't say I was overly bothered by it.
Other than having great chemistry, I thought the two characters were pretty great for the most part. Logan James is a pro hockey player who doesn't like his life to be all up in the tabloids, preferring to keep his private life private. One of the things in his past that he prefers to keep quiet is his daughter, Madison, who died eight years ago at the age of five. (And that's totally not a spoiler because that's revealed in Chapter Two.) Logan had gotten his girlfriend at the time, Cassidy, pregnant two months into dating her in his freshman year at college. Cassidy's parents were pretty God-fearing, so she went through with the pregnancy instead of aborting, but she wasn't too keen on having a child. When Madison was diagnosed, she basically just up and left the relationship (there's no indication on how deep his relationship with Cassidy was) and doesn't show up at all in this book, so no OW drama. He was a pretty sweet guy and totally into Abby, though he'd avoided starting anything with her for the past three months (since she'd started working with his team).
The only thing I wanted to be different about him is his manwhore nature. Over the years, he's slept with a lot of women, including picking up random hockey groupies (which the author refers to as "rink bunnies" but err...they're known as "puck bunnies," jsyk) at games and in college. He's had relationships over the years, but he never really did "serious." When he's talking to his friend, Jace, he mentions that Jace goes on "benders of meaningless sex," which he then says he knows a thing or two about because he's done that and it doesn't work. I wish the author had gone a different route with him instead of doing the same ol' ~tortured past leading to manwhore present~ trope.
Then we have Abby. She was a pretty strong character, imo. She had to deal with a lot of shit in the testosterone-filled environment that is hockey. She also has a very antagonistic co-worker who doesn't like her at all. (He constantly refers to her as "D.C." which people take to mean in relation to "Washington" because she'd previously worked with politicians, but he means it as "Damn C-word.") She was a pretty decent character, too, and I have no real complaints about her. Shew as interested in Logan just as much as he fancied her, but she avoided pursuing him in the beginning. The reason? Because, unlike Logan, she has a "no fraternization" clause in her contract, so her job's on the line if she starts anything with him.
Unlike Logan, though, she doesn't really sleep around. She's not a virgin and hasn't had a bad sex life, with mentions of a boyfriend or two (though no details) and her "failed romances," but she hasn't slept with nearly as many people as Logan probably has (and is going on one year of celibacy before sleeping with Logan).
The only relationship complaint I have—and it's more nit-picky than anything else, honestly—is that I wish Logan was as sure of Abby as she was of him in the beginning. In the beginning, while Abby is positive in how special he is to her, mentioning that "she hadn’t been this attracted to a man in well… ever," Logan thinks that it's "been a while since he’d been able to get that lost in a woman," that "really he was pretty sure he’d never gotten that lost in a woman." While he's the first man she's ever been this attracted to, he's "pretty sure" when it comes to Abby. I wish he'd been as sure of her as she was him in the beginning, especially since they'd been pining after one another equally for the last couple of months. I know, I know, nit-picky, etc. It was just something that bothered me in the beginning. I do want to mention that I didn't think she was second best or anything, but I just wanted to note that because it bothered me.
The last thing I had a complaint about was Abby's father. Her issues with her father felt pretty unresolved, so I was disappointed in that. I wish more had come of that or that there'd been a more solid resolution there rather than how open-ended it was.
Anyway. I enjoyed this book enough that I think I may pick up Richard's other books. Paige and Brendan definitely intrigued me because their relationship dynamic here was adorable!
Quick & Dirty: Amazing romance that was sexy, emotional, and very entertaining. I would highly recommend this series to anyone that is looking for a sweet romance read!
Opening Sentence: “Truth: when was the last time you had sex?”
The Review:
Abby Fields just recently moved to Florida for a new job. She will be working for the Jacksonville Stampede’s (a professional hockey team) public relations department. This is a great career move for her and it comes with the huge plus of being only three hours away from her best friend, Paige King. It does state in her contract that she is not to fraternize with any of the players, which isn’t a problem until she finds herself in a cabin all alone with Logan James on Valentine’s Day playing a game of Strip, Shoot, or Truth. This leads to one of the best nights of her life, but if she wants to keep her job it better not happen again.
Logan James is at the height of his professional career. His hockey team is on an epic winning streak and things seem to be going perfectly for him. Then Abby Fields walks into his life and for the first time in a long time he finds himself attracted to someone for more than one night. She is a gorgeous, fiery redhead that he can’t get out of his head, but them being together needs to stay a secret. Logan is no stranger to keeping secrets — his past is full of them, but when one of his most heart wrenching memories is splashed all over the news he blames Abby for the leak. If he can’t learn to trust her how can they ever take their relationship to the next level?!
Abby is an adorable character that was easy to love. She appeared sporadically throughout the rest of the series and even though she wasn’t around much I always liked her. She seems like a put together person and she has been quite successful in her career as a publicist. But I loved that underneath her business suits she has insecurities just like everyone else. Her past relationships with men have never been all that great and her family life from growing up was far from perfect. I enjoyed her witty personality and thought that she was a great character. I am so glad that I got to read her story and see her get a happily-ever-after!
Logan was seriously so SEXY! First off, he is a professional hockey player so he has a killer body, and a gorgeous face to go with it! But the thing that is most sexy about him is how humble and giving he is. He obviously has a lot of money and he is could easily be one of those sports guys that flaunts what he has but he doesn’t. He is a very private person and doesn’t like to have his personal life splashed in the media. I love that he volunteers at the children’s hospital and helps make sick children’s dreams come true. He seriously is such a great guy and I loved everything about him. His romance with Abby is electric and adorable at the same time. In some ways I wish we could have watched them meet and get to know each other, but I will admit that their story started out with a bang! I think they are perfect for each other and I loved watching their relationship develop.
Undressed had everything I wanted from a novella! It was sexy, fun, emotional, and the perfect quick read. I was so excited to read Abby’s story and this did not disappoint. I will admit that there were a few moments where I wish Richards would have gone a little bit more in depth, but after finishing the story I can see why she didn’t. This is a novella, not a full length novel, so to keep it at a shorter length some things just can’t be explored as much, but this in no way made me enjoy this book any less. I loved the characters, the plot was interesting, the romance was perfection, and honestly, I think this was a very entertaining read! I have read the entire Country Roads series and I loved all of the books. While you can easily read this as a standalone, I would suggest you read the rest of the series because it will make you appreciate seeing all of the characters from the previous books. I do remember reading in other reviews and they thought that some of the other books in this series really dragged out and far too long. Personally, I didn’t feel this way but if you did I wouldn’t worry about that in this story. It is short and to the point, so you get all of Richards’ wonderful story telling without the lengthily book. I am pretty sure that this is probably the ending to the series since most of the characters have gotten their story now, but whether it is or not I look forward to whatever Richards comes out with next! I would highly recommend this series to anyone that is looking for a sweet romance with great sexy times!
Notable Scene:
The next two things Abby did shocked the hell out of both of them, as evident by the fact that his eyebrows climbed up his forehead.
One: She reached across the table and grabbed the shot, taking it in one fell swoop.
Second: she scooted the chair back and stood. She unzipped her skirt and pushed it down her thighs, adding it to the pile that included her hair clip, blazer, shoes, and blouse. There were now just as man y of her things littering the floor as Logan’s—he’d lost his jacket, tie, socks, shoes, and belt.
She reached for the bottom of her camisole next, lifting it over her head and tossing it at him. He caught it before it hit him in the face, pulling it away as his eyes did a slow skim of her body. That mouth of his turned predatory as he took in her red bustier and lace panties, and black thigh-high stockings.
“Damn, Red.” The whisper that left his mouth was one of awe.
FTC Advisory: Forever/Hachette provided me with a copy of Undressed. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.
Undressed is my favorite Country Roads story to date! Shannon Richards has packed a heck of a lot into this sinfully sexy novella – it’s interesting, heartbreaking, compelling, and of course, red-hot.
I have a weakness for hockey player heroes and Logan is definitely drool-worthy on and off the ice. But he’s more than a hot bod with skills, he’s a man with a generous heart and a heartbreaking secret he’ll do anything to protect. Logan hasn’t really wanted to get close to anyone in years because of his past (for reasons I won’t spoil), but Abby gets under his skin and makes him come alive for the first time in years. And it’s easy to see why. Abby is a heroine with brains and determination to spare. She handles sexist coworkers along with sometimes uncooperative hockey players and doesn’t blink an eyelash. Logan, however, throws her off her game. Her contract forbids her from getting involved with any of the guys on the team, but there’s something about Logan that Abby simply can’t resist. And when she finds out that he wants her as well…watch out because Undressed gets down and dirty in all the best ways. The chemistry between Abby and Logan is fantastic and I simply could not put their story down, entranced as I was by these two.
Of course, even when hero and heroine fit one another perfectly things aren’t going to be easy. There’s workplace politics, old wounds, and the ever-present press that will challenge Abby and Logan. The only thing that kept Undressed from being the perfect read for me was the inevitable reveal of Logan’s secret to the world. You can tell it had to happen for plot point reasons, but the how of it left me disappointed. Without spoiling what happens, I can say that someone as smart and aware as Abby should have seen what was coming. That being said, it was the only blip in an otherwise superb romance.
Undressed is part of Ms. Richard’s Country Roads series, but it can be read as a standalone. I’ve been reading this series completely out of order and I had no problems at all. Fans of the series should love the cameos made by their favorite characters, and of course, Abby’s best friend, Paige (of Undone), is a key supporting character. As much as I loved the Mirabelle crowd, Ms. Richard has me even more excited to read books about Logan’s siblings, characters new to the series. I’ve got my fingers crossed in the hopes that Adele and Liam will get books of their own.
Undressed is fast-paced and engaging with characters you have to adore. I absolutely loved Abby and Logan and I cannot wait to re-read their story.
FTC Disclosure: I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I loved book four in the Country Roads series, so I was really looking forward to seeing what Abby and Logan’s story had in store for us. He’s the sexy hockey player with a haunted past, she’s the former political publicist who represents everything he hates. But there was something there, a spark that neither one of them could deny, and we got to see it firsthand before this story even really kicks off. Logan and Abby share a blissful night of passion, but the next morning brings new light for her…she isn’t allowed to fraternize with clients, and Logan is exactly that. Resisting his charms and magnetism became a second full-time job for her at that point, and it was a steamy, sweet, emotional journey for both of them.
Despite the fact that we pretty much jump right into these two having their way with each other, there was great chemistry between them. They had one intense evening together, but it left its mark and you could see why. They both needed each other even if they didn’t want to admit it. And even as she kept him at arm’s length to protect her career, what Abby grew to know of the real Logan over the weeks following made him even harder to resist. She was willing to risk her livelihood to see just what they had, even though he was holding back from her.
Logan James, he was the real deal, the shockingly gorgeous male specimen with a heart of gold, and that was before his secret was revealed to his woman. What we readers know of Logan is heartbreaking, and it was so sad seeing through his point of view what he’d been through. It made what he had with Abby that much more important, because I so wanted her to be his chance at real enduring love and a second chance at true happiness. Undressed is a heartwarming addition to the Country Roads series, and I for one am hopeful we’ll get a book 5 before it all wraps up!

She took a deep breath before she finished off the last of her champagne, determined to get her head back in it…and her heart? Well, who the hell cared about that? ~Loc 906
“So you were jealous when you thought Adele was my date? “Could you be any more smug?” “I think I could, but your dress is distracting me from it.” He moved his hands from their location on her butt, traveling back to her hips and running them up to her waist before he slid them back down. “Does it make you feel any better that I can’t even think straight when I look at you?” ~Loc 1004
But he’d said it at the very beginning of this whole thing, during their night spend in Mirabelle: “Simple is overrated, I’ll take complicated any day.” ~Loc 1585
My Review: This book jumped right into the story with a bang and I loved that. Abby and Logan work for an NHL hockey team...he's a player, she's in the PR dept. They've been at odds for months because he wants to keep his private life private which makes her job more difficult. The book starts out with them snowed in at his cabin after their flight was cancelled for a PR appearance...and they've been drinking while playing a drinking game. Yeah, you can see where this book is going. But I loved the way that it jumped right in. When the book starts, they're four drinks and several clothing items into the game. It makes for an intense read immediately....and it really never let up. I loved that. This book is called a novella...but it's a long novella...50k words, and it never feels short on story. At all.
First, let me just say...hockey. If you all have been reading my reviews at all, you know I love hockey and sport themed books. This was a fun one. I liked the premise of it. I loved Logan's backstory. He's so much more than the reader...and the heroine, Abby...realizes at first.
The two of them are snowed in because they are on their way to visit a teenage boy who's having difficulties with his cancer treatments. That theme of compassion and kids with cancer flowed throughout the entire book and I did really like that.
The conflict of the story is that Abby's contract says she can't fraternize with the team. She also has issues with one of the other PR execs who's incredibly sexist. That means that the two are sneaking around a lot and even though the relationship is going well, that adds stress. She's an incredibly strong and independent character. There's an interesting sub-plot with her and her father.
Overall, the book was just really good. While I own most of this series, I haven't read the others yet. I need to go back and do that. There were also some incredible members of the hockey team introduced and I really hope the author provides some other stories from that cast of characters. But this one is definitely worth picking up.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Logan is a very private and sexy hockey player. He wants to keep his private life private as much as possible as a famous athlete. So, he often butts heads with Abby who works in PR for the Stampede. Abby is brillant at her job, but is often underestimated and underappreciated as a beautiful and short woman. She's surprised that Logan didn't put up a fight when she broached the idea of visiting a sick teenager as he is one of the less cooperative players.
Logan and Abby share an undeniable attraction that finally gets the better of them. Any relationship would be impossible for them since they both work for the team, but so is staying away from each other. What begins as a fling becomes more as they get to know each other.
Undressed is a fun novella set in the Country Roads world. Undresses can be read as a standalone. Shannon Richard created a great couple within the sports world of hockey. Ms. Richard also provided a great cast of secondary characters, including some from the Country Roads books. Fans of Rachel Gibson and Jessica Lemmon would enjoy Undressed.
I love this series so I'm always excited when a new book comes out, and this author is one I really enjoy reading her work. Our girl Abby can be impatient at times especially when it pertains to her man and getting him naked, "she was working the buttons a moment later, but her impatience got the best of her and she ripped it open. He grinned against her mouth as buttons scattered across the wooden floor, but he didn't break the kiss." Logan he appreciates his woman's efforts especially when it's of the teasing nature: "My bra is. I'm not wearing panties." Logan's head came up in an instant. "What was that?" "I'm going commando. The material of this dress is too thin. Shows everything. So I took a leaf out of your book." As I said I enjoy this series and I'm always looking forward to a new book, but now that I got a taste of these delicious hockey players I want more of them.
Undressed was the Country Roads story I didn't know I needed! I really enjoyed the connection between Abby and her hockey player, Logan. They had sizzling chemistry and both were working to overcome hardships in their past. The hockey setting was interesting and I enjoyed the PR aspects of Abby's job. It was also nice to get a little visit from some of the Mirabelle residents of past stories to show that Abby was still connected to the town. I think the short format was perfect for this story because it set the relationship up well, but limited the amount of drama Abby and Logan could have. As they are both mature, respectful adults, it made sense that their bump in the road would be minimal, needing only a chapter or so to overcome.
Thank you to Forever Yours and Netgalley for providing an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have not read any of Shannon Richard’s books before, so this is a first for me. Undressed is okay. Just okay. Like many stories I read these days, Logan and Abby are trying to fight their attraction to each other until finally one day on Valentine’s Day, they give in. After this, they overcome struggles in order to be together. It’s a typical formula to a good romance book, but the book makes it nothing special.
To say that I am a huge lover of Hockey romance books is a bit of an understatement. They are absolutely my all time favourite genre to read. Although, sadly there aren’t enough hockey romances out there to read and what is out there is normally either a huge hit or a really big miss. When I read the synopsis for Undressed, I jumped at the chance to read it but then after realizing it was book #4.5 in a series, I went into reading it with a bit of apprehension. The book says it can be read as a standalone, but that isn’t always the case with series books. To my surprise and delight, this book being able to read as a standalone held true. Would I have maybe enjoyed it more if I had read the first four books, probably but only because I would be getting more of Paige and Brendan, character I know I would have fallen in love with in their book, the first book of the series. Not having met them already was not needed at all to be able to enjoy the storyline of this book.
PR rep Abby Fields has decided to leave the politicians behind in Washington and move closer to her friend and try out hockey players instead. After several months of Logan and Abby having an attraction for each other, they come together one night due to circumstances and decide to play Strip, Shoot or Truth. The chemistry between these two is instant and off the charts and when they decide to play a game that alcohol along with the removal of clothing comes into play, these two can’t fight holding themselves back from the attraction and finally give in. They come to soon realize that that one night isn’t enough for either of them, but there is just one problem, Abbey has it in her contract the hockey team that there is no fraternization. Seeing though how Logan likes to keep his life private, they decide to see where it goes and keep their relationship hidden. Or at least they think they keep it hidden. What they don’t realize is they are not very good at hiding their feelings by they way they look at each other when others that know them well are in the same room with them.
I loved Abby, first because she was a sassy red head, which is my favorite female lead character. She like all red heads had great sass and spunk that I loved and was such a great strong character. She was confident in herself and knew what she wanted. And I really enjoyed that she was real, she wasn’t always perfect, she had a side that wasn’t always strong and I loved that she let her walls down and let Logan see it.
Logan, how can you not absolutely love this hot hockey hunk. He’s an amazing player who could very easily be nothing more than an arrogant asshole, but he’s not. He’s a bit rough and gruff at times, but it’s him in a dark place after losing his daughter years ago, it’s him keeping people at arms length and it’s him trying to keep his private life separate from his public life, not something easy to do when you are a pro hockey player in the NHL. But behind all that gruffness is a great big teddy bear with a huge heart of gold. I love how amazing generous he is, especially when it comes to sick kids.
Overall, this was a really great hockey novella that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was a great mix of some hockey action, hot sexy scenes as well as some totally swoon worthy romantic scenes. I loved these two together and the relationship they had. I loved that they were always saying “Truth” and being 100% honest as they got to know each other. Even though I felt the ending a bit rushed for my liking and I was left needing a bit more, I must say found it was a really great length for a novella, it actually felt more like a short novel. The storyline moved at a great pace having it carrying out over several months and without it feeling like an insta-romance that took place over a few weeks which is what normally happens with novellas. I also must say I really enjoyed the author’s writing, I am not normally a fan of books written in third person POV but didn’t mind this one at all and didn’t have an issue at all connecting with the characters like I normally do with third. I will definitely be going back and checking the rest of the books out when I can find some time, especially the first book, would like to read Paige’s story. I really hope that this won’t be the last we see of Abby and Logan, would absolutely love to see Jace’s have his own book which might hopefully include Adele, it seemed like the author was hinting something more between these two in this book, so here’s hoping there is more to come. This may have been my first book by Shannon Richards but it definitely won’t be my last, and I will be looking forward to what else she has in store for this series.
Ok so I’m hockey person. If there is a book about hockey I’m going to read it, I can’t really explain why except I’m Canadian and that is what we do hockey.
This book was a little different; usually it’s all about a player and the outside world. With this book we get to see how the ins and out of a hockey player.
Publicist Abby Fields's is new to the game. She is new to the terms Hockey and she is defiantly new to the term Hockey Stud.
Hockey players were no better than politicians.
That is her motto and she is sticking to it. She has her job and that is to make sure these “hockey players” make nice and seem even nicer to the press. Except she wasn’t counting on Logan James, who want to fight her at every turn. He was hot on and off the ice and he knows it.
Logan was the only one on the team who didn’t call her Ms. Fields or Abby. It didn’t bother her at all. She was sure there had been way worse nicknames for her, and one based on her auburn hair color was not a bad one. Besides, she really hated being called Ms. Fields because it reminded her of Mr. Fields, the cookies.
Imagine her surprise when he agrees to go and visit a sick little boy. This is a huge step for Logan, since he doesn’t do these things, well he does he just keeps it on the down low. He doesn’t think its right for the public to see every aspect of him and he’s right oh is he right. So this visit should be a no brainer, I mean in and out right, except what happens when your stranded in a snow storm and your stranded with this hot and heavy hockey player and your sharing a room, and did I mention it’s Valentine’s Day? Did I mention they were playing truth or dare, hell this just got a whole lot more interesting.
Though the way Logan was looking at her might challenge that last statement. She was feeling more than a little warm as she looked into those green-gold eyes of his that sparkled from across the table. Then there were his lips that quirked up to the side. He had a sinful mouth, one that promised to do wicked things.
So when push comes to shove and drinks and shots are drunk, nothing is to stop them from having a one-night stand. Well nothing except the clause in her contract that is basically don’t screw the hockey players, but how can she say no.
He was…there were no words to accurately describe him. He was one hundred and ninety-five pounds of male perfection.
What is one night right? I mean no one has to know, they are stranded and it can be just a drunken mistake. Just one thing, she wasn’t ready for Logan to fight, she wasn’t ready for him to want more, she wasn’t ready for him.
“After being inside you, I don’t know that I’ll ever return to reality. I’d like to explore this whole thing further.”
So they start his secret romance, this secret affair, so secret that no one not even their friends know or family, basically it’s just the two of them. But then what happens when all their nights are spent together, what happens when your secret looks between each other is suspicious.
Somewhere in the time they’d been spending together, things had changed. Morphed into something…more. She hadn’t noticed it, not until she’d been forced to stay away from him. Not until she walked into that room tonight and thought he’d come with somebody else. Not until she’d felt that burning jealousy, that sinking disappointment. And then he fixed it… Told her that he needed her.
So now that he needs her and she is finally ready to admit to the world that she wants him, a secret is leaked and all fingers point to the person he thought he could trust. What happens when she sees that he doesn’t trust her? What happens when he learns that he might be wrong? I’m pretty sure that when your undressed the secrets stay under!

What happens when she sees that he doesn’t trust her? What happens when he learns that he might be wrong? I’m pretty sure that when your undressed the secrets stay under!
If you’ve read Undone (the first book in the Country Roads series) you might be familiar with Abby Fields. She is Paige’s best friend and makes appearances throughout the series. There were hints that she might get her own story and this is it. Abby was a publicist for politicians in DC. She recently took a job as a publicist for a NHL team. The change was huge but she is finding that she loves it even more. But, just like in DC, she has her problem children. One of those problem children is the very hot Logan James. When she says “problem child”, she doesn’t mean that he causes too many problems for her to fix. It’s more his unwillingness to participate in many of the publicity events hosted by the team.
Logan James finds the team’s new publicist to be unbelievably hot. Too bad her profession is one that he absolutely despises. He’s not interested in exploiting other people for his or the team’s benefit. Having suffered a significant loss when he was younger, he realizes that doing good for the sake of doing good is the only thing he’s interested in. That means he’ll do his own charities and if the team’s publicity team wants to be involved they’ll have to agree to his terms.
After an unexpected snowstorm and a night stuck in Logan’s cabin while waiting for a new flight to a charity “event” in Mirabelle, Abby and Logan take their non-existent relationship to the next level. The next morning, Abby is already moving on. Because, in the end, it should have never happened. She will lose her job if anyone found out she had any sort of relationship with someone on the team. When they get to Mirabelle for the media-free (Logan’s demand for his cooperation) and personal (to Abby) event, Abby observes Logan interact with all of her friends in Mirabelle and realizes that maybe Logan isn’t quite the standoffish jerk she thought he was and that he really is more like the guy she spent the night with.
It’s been a long time since Logan’s been in a relationship but after one night with Abby he’s willing to explore the possibilities. Unfortunately, she’s already acting like nothing ever happened between them. On the bright side, Logan isn’t opposed to going after what he wants. So after telling Abby that he’s still interested (and after Abby has a heart to heart with her BFF, Paige) they decide to continue their relationship privately. Away from the eyes of the team and management.
Of course, hiding a relationship with a NHL player that is likely going to playoffs is difficult. Even more difficult is hiding their relationship when certain members of the team (both on and off the ice) will stoop to anything to see Abby fail at the job she loves.
As you all may have noticed, Shannon Richard has quickly become a favorite author. I’ve adored the Country Roads series and this novella was a great addition. Abby is a wonderfully strong contemporary romance heroine. She is a determined and focused professional and her solid belief that she should be able to have her career AND her relationship is both attractive and refreshing. And wow….I thought the Men of Mirabelle were something. Obviously Shannon Richard was just preparing me for the force that is Logan James.
So, yeah. If you are looking for a steamy romance featuring a hot hockey player and an all around amazing woman, Undressed is probably just what you are looking for.
My first experience with Shannon Richard was Undone, which I read via Netgalley in February 2014. I remember really liking it because it was just cute and fluffy and almost angst-free. Well, Undressed is pretty different.
I guess it's good when authors don't follow a formula. It's really frustrating to pick up the third or fourth book in a series just to find that it's the same story with different names. Because whereas Undone was cute and fluffy, Undressed (as its name might imply) is a little more steamy. And while Undone was pretty low on the drama scale, Undressed has the characters sneaking around and hiding their feelings. Best of all, though, is that while I noticed a lot of errors in Undone, I had an uncorrected proof of Undressed and noted minimal mistakes.
So what's the story? Abby Fields is a high-powered publicist working for the Stampede, a well-known hockey team. Her job is to get the players in the news -- in a good way. Her toughest customer is Logan James, one of the best players, who would rather keep to himself. But after circumstances beyond their control land them in a secluded cabin for the night (and a few shots of alcohol get involved), Logan and Abby find themselves in a very unprofessional situation. The problem? Abby's contract clearly stipulates that she cannot fraternize with the players, and doing so is grounds for immediate termination. So when Logan and Abby find themselves falling for each other, they need to keep their relationship, and their feelings, secret.
Although I read and enjoyed Undone, somehow I missed Undeniable, Unstoppable, and Unforgettable. I don't know what happens in the rest of the books, but part of what I really liked about Undone was how easy Paige and Brendan's relationship seemed. In Undressed, not only are the characters struggling with their relationship (it's got to be hard to hide your feelings from your coworkers every day!), but they're also struggling in their personal lives. Abby is dealing with a father who only wants to be in her life when it's convenient, and Logan is fighting to keep his most personal memories private. Sometimes it feels like they almost have too much going on in their lives, particularly for a novella of only 224 pages.
Undressed is a quick, steamy read that gets a bit too dramatic at times, but is ultimately enjoyable.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the free copy!
The 5th book in the Country Road series Shannon Richard delivers again. Undressed can stand alone but after reading the other books in the series this book continues to develop the characters I have grown to appreciate. The style of writing is the same with the right amount of hot steamy sex scenes interspersed into a good story line. Undressed tells the love story between Abby and Logan both with pasts that can thwart their love for each other.
Abby is successful in her career with the sports team and has no difficulty with the clause that states she cannot have a personal relationship with any team members. All is well until she meets Logan. On a trip to Mirabel where Abby gets to see the kind and generous man Logan is she falls prey to his seduction. As the physical attraction between them escalates it becomes obvious that her job could be in jeopardy. On finding Logan’s past she becomes a victim again of having someone she loves walking away from her. Taking a new career path and then being fired from the team she feels she has lost everything. She has to wonder if Logan will ever trust her again. After talking to her friend in Mirabel she realizes she might have to fight for what she truly wants. But will it be enough!
Logan a successful hockey player prided himself on keeping his personal life private. His past mistakes have kept him distant from forming any serious relationships. That is until he met Abby. Physical attraction aside he just can’t put her out of his mind. As the relationship grows Logan realizes he is in love with Abby but when he finds out what she knows of his past he pushes her away. Only a friend makes him see what not having Abby in his life is doing to him. Can the want of her erase the distrust he felt?
I loved the way that the author is able to continue these stories without the reader finding the books predictable. Each has characters that are unique and believable.
The reader can put themselves in the setting and get immersed. I look forward should there be a sixth book.

I received a copy of this book to write an honest review for Netgalley and Cocktails and Books.
UNDRESSED is an intoxicating story that pulled me from the first page. I always enjoy reading about professional hockey players and I love everything about Logan James, who plays with the Stampede hockey team. He’s a nice guy with a southern drawl and he’s been attracted to Abby Fields since she started as a publicist for the team. They start a relationship, but can’t let anyone know they’re seeing each other because it goes against the company policy. When Abby starts her job, she signs a contract stating she won’t date anyone working for the team. At first a secret relationship sounds like a good idea, but as time goes by, trying to keep their relationship secret becomes difficult for both of them. Logan insists on staying out the limelight and he doesn’t make Abby’s job easy. He believes his personal life is private and has no interest in doing anything to gain publicity. He hasn’t been in a relationship in a long time and he’s surprised by his strong feelings for Abby. They just seem to click and enjoy being together. I admire Abby. She loves her job, and works hard to be the best in her field. Although she cares about her job, Abby also wants to be with Logan. Logan and Abby both carry some scars and it takes them a while to open up and share their secrets with each other. This is part of the Country Roads series and is a stand-alone. It’s a well written story that is fast paced and even though it’s a novella, didn’t feel too short. I enjoyed everything about this story and easily connected with Logan and Abby.
First, I want you guys to know that I have not read anything else from this series. And that may have impacted my views on this book. I usually don't jump into the middle of a series but the summary for this one was so interesting that I just had to break out of what I usually do and give it a try. In hindsight, that was a bad idea.
The premise of Undressed was great. But it took me 5 days to read a 200 page novella. It just didn't keep my attention. At. All. I can't really pinpoint why that happened. I just wasn't interested. Now, the story is pretty good - I really enjoyed the main characters (Abby and Logan) and I liked how the story flowed but there was just something missing. Some spark or pizazz or something. I'm not entirely sure what.
Undressed really yanks at your heart, a lot of the story revolves around a horrible part of Logan's life. It was just horribly sad. You know what? Maybe that was what I had a problem with with this one. In my opinion, all great stories have peaks and valleys ... high highs and low lows that really put the reader through the wringer. While this one had some super low lows, the highs weren't enough to offset the lows. At the end of the novel, I was just left feeling unfulfilled. This book was just ... okay. Now if you're really into this series, it will probably be perfect for you because it really received high ratings ... it just wasn't for me.

I have been a fan of the Country Roads series from the beginning and this novella is no exception. This book can be read as a standalone but the secondary characters will probably be more comprehensible if you’ve read the other books.
We’ve briefly met Abby before but now she gets her own story and deservingly so. She is adorable, independent, smart, and feisty. How can one not fall in love with her? She has recently moved to Florida (although not Mirabelle) for her new PR job with the Stampede.
As a hockey player, Logan is used to being the center of attention on the ice but off the ice he prefers to keep his life private. He’s had heartbreak in his past and now honors the horrible situation by volunteering with hospitalized and ill children with wanting no publicity at all.
Abby has a clause in her employment agreement to not fraternize with the players. This is like an immediate cock block to the chemistry between her and Logan. They keep finding themselves in steamy situations which become harder to stop. They quickly find that what they thought could be just a fling will really never be enough.
This has everything I’ve come to love from Shannon Richard’s books…just a shorter version. The characters are witty and charming. The romance is sweet, yet passionate. I didn’t want this quick read to end.
Shannon Richard has hit it out of the park once again!! Brava! This series is addictive and fun and always gives me the feels . Though I was a tiny upset when the first couple of pages were SPOILER CITY!!
Abby: She is the fiery redhead publicist who moved to Mirabelle to represent an NFL hockey. But when she mixe business and pleasure things are not so private now. Though Abby had problems with trusting men because of her father she didn't take it out on every man she encountered. But one night with Logan has made her discover the proper definition of trust.
Logan: He is a very private person which makes Abby's job a lot harder. But being snowed in as him ready to smile for the first time in eight years. He has a secret that he that only his family knows about and he wants to keep it that way. He was caring, sweet and passionate about helping the kids he met. What I loved is that he didn't do it for the fame, but he did it out of the kindness of his heart. I think that's one of the things that made me love his character and I think that was Abby's as well.
Final Thoughts: What else can I say about these series? I just love everything about them. So now I need to go back and read books 3 & 4.
I am a huge fan of Shannon Richard and she does not disappoint! Another winner :)
It was really nice to see a softer side to Abby because since book one, Undone, she has been scaring the sweet, sexy men of Mirabelle. But don't get too worried that she lost all her bite because it is still there, it's just directed at a certain coworker who is not loving the fact that Abby is working with him. I absolutely loved Logan. It was nice to see a character introduced that hasn't been in the other books before. It adds a little freshness and spice. He adds a little spice with his fondness for red..lace.
The novella doesn't start with them just meeting, it's after Abby has moved and is established in her new position in the PR department for Jacksonville's hockey team. So I do have to say I was little bummed that we didn't get to see Logan and Abby meet because it sounds like it would have been interesting, seeing as they were both pretty snippy with each other. So my only complaint is that there just wasn't enough for me!! I don't want these books to ever end!
Logan is hot, private, and pretty hard to get... until he meets Abby. Abby works in the PR department for the hockey team he's one of the stars on. While journeying to meet a sick teen with cancer, they get stranded... and they get to know each other (hint, hint)! Only problem... there's a clause in her contract stating that it's against company policy to fraternize. So, does she sacrifice everything for them to be together or do they go their separate ways?
This story was too short for me. There were moments when I just laughed out loud and moments when I was frustrated because there were things that weren't being said or there was a misunderstanding... I adored everything about Abby and Logan. It was a quick read and the only time I put it down was to go to sleep!
This was another one of those books I couldn't put down. Any book that starts out with a Truth question and leads to the chemistry that Logan and Abby had I am all in to continue to see what the story is about. The chemistry that they had for one another was undeniable and even though both of them had some hurdles to get over her not being able to really trust and him getting over the loss of his daughter they were both able to overcome those hurdles and find the love they both had always wanted. I would recommend this book if you are looking for a light heart romance where love wins in the end.
I really enjoyed this story, but I felt like it ended too soon. The story was still well written, but I’ve been waiting for Abby’s story since the first book in the series, but felt like I didn’t get to spend enough time in her head when her story finally came around.
Logan was a great hero, not too perfect, but still a really great guy. At times he seemed a little “too nice” for a pro-athelete, but the character was still written consistent.
I have enjoyed these entire series, and if you have read any of the previous books and enjoyed them, you will love this book. This can easily be read as a standalone, and would be enjoyed by anyone who likes a country romance.
ARC from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review… I absolutely Love this series! Shannon Richard rocks! Undressed is so amazing! I have a weakness for hockey player heroes!! This is story is about Publicist Abby Fields's She just moved to Florida when a job opportunity opens up with a sports team! Logan James is hot on and off the ice, him and his team are on a pic winning streak, life couldn't get better.. But then he meets Abby & is finding it difficult to concentrate on anything other then Abby!! Loved it you need to read it to see what happens!!!
a really great 4 star read. Great hockey hunk novella that was easily read as a standalone book even though it's part of a series. Really loved Logan and Abby's story and hoping we may now see Jace's
So this book started off a little too "too much" for me. I wasn't sure if it was going to be something I could read, but I ended up liking it. There were a lot of pages to skip, but the actual story was really good. I'm going to attempt a full length novel by this author, even though I'm a bit hesitant. I'll be reading it in the 7 day return period just in case.
I haven't read any of the other books in this series. I was kind of hoping to get a feel for the author's writing by testing out a novella first. I enjoyed it enough to search out the first full-length book.
I liked both Logan and Abby. Their antagonism toward each other in the beginning was kind of fun, and I liked how much chemistry they had.
