The first book in a Viking fantasy series based on Norse mythology where each human chooses a god to bind their soul to... and gets that god's powers in exchange. But when the king of the gods destroys Runar's village, he chooses to bind his soul to Hel, the dark goddess of the frozen underworld, in order to get revenge.
The land of Modig Jord is slowly freezing over. The Jords who live in the north must return to the ancestral lands in the south, but new enemies block their path.
Every Jord tries to bind their soul to a god, and in return, they get that god's powers. But when Runar’s village is razed for daring to refuse the king of the gods, he is left an outcast. The only god who will accept him is Hel, the reclusive god of the underworld.
Hel’s Crew follows Runar across the lands and seas of Modig Jord where he meets a cursed skeleton looking for adventure no matter the peril, and forms a motley band of warriors to journey into the wilds for revenge.
Dive into an epic fantasy world inspired by Norse mythology.

A magical masterpiece! The worldbuilding is vivid, the characters unforgettable, and the plot a perfect balance of wonder and tension. The magic system feels fresh and integral to the story. I was glued from the first page to the last. A must-read for all fantasy lovers.
Really enjoyed this book. The plot is quick and does not keep you waiting long before pay offs are received. The author did a well done job on researching and using Viking lore and culture. It surprised me how much is inspired and parallel to actual cultures of the Vikings down to the basic details to the largest. The magic system is also unique with the people swearing themselves under gods to gain access to the magic system. The gods themselves are also very interesting and seem to be weaving their own plans and machinations behind the scenes while the characters of this book slowly work through the world. There was also a romance plot within this novel that I felt progressed at an appropriate pace and was not too sudden. Of course I would love more and a lengthier book to delve further into this wonderful and detail rich world. Hoping for a book 2!!!
This book was right up my alley. Loved the concept behind the book but maybe a little too fast paced. Felt like the entire book happened in a week. Some of the writing is a little rough and its hard to tell if someone is speaking and if they are who it is. Sometimes it was difficult to tell thought from speech. The main character is also uninteresting I could care less for him. Best thing he has going for him is being tied to hel. Its only 1 of 2 books from this author and I dont wanna be too harsh but I have to be honest. Great idea for the book though just not with the delivery
