✨ A slow-burn, lyric-soaked romcom about creative sparks, owning your spotlight, and the kind of synchronicity that can’t be auto-tuned.
One indie folk singer. One rockin' emotionally unavailable session guitarist. One week in Austin for SXSW. What could possibly go wrong?Sage Wilder knows better. She’s been burned by her own dreams, ghosted by her creativity, and manipulated by the last man she kissed on stage.
She’s here to play her set, dodge her ex, and steer clear of men with guitar-calloused fingers and heartbreak in their eyes. Especially the ones who strum chords like foreplay and speak fluent harmony.
But then she ducks into Cornelia’s Bar and meets Daniel. 🎸 He’s quiet. Intense. Infuriatingly off-limits.
And when a rehearsal disaster turns into a late-night jam session, the tempo shifts—and everything changes.
Suddenly they’re sharing a mic, studio time, tacos, and sexual tension—plus creating a song that sounds suspiciously like the start of something real.
Now Sage has to Stick to the sheet music she’s outgrown, or risk it all for a new sound—and a duet that could change everything.
Slow-burn romcoms with sass, song lyrics, and found-family magic.
Chris Candie writes romantic comedies full of big feelings, sharp banter, and found family vibes. His Taylor Thursdays at Cornelia’s series mixes karaoke, trivia, and a little music magic with heartfelt, slow-burn love stories. Expect smart heroines, swoony moments, and the kind of humor that sneaks up on you between chapters. KU reader? You’re in the right place.
Chris’s books are set in cozy-but-vibrant Austin, Texas, where karaoke, trivia, and glittery surprises bring people together in unexpected ways. He believes the best love stories are about more than just romance—they’re about the people who cheer you on, the community you find along the way, and the moments that make you feel like you belong.
Readers can expect:
*Slow-burn chemistry
*Laugh-out-loud banter
*Heart-squeezing emotion …all tied together with music, a mic, and a happy ending worth singing about.
When he’s not writing, Chris is usually deep in book research (sometimes in a bar, for science), gardening, or spending time with his dogs. He calls his fictional worlds “a love letter to Austin” and to the kind of places—and people—that make you feel like you’ve come home.

I won this book through a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. Thanks for choosing me.
I entered the giveaway not realizing this book was technically part of a series, so of course, I had to read the other two before I read this one. I loved them all. Spending time at Cornelia's was a fun, sometimes emotional ride.
Throughout this book as well as the other two, the love story was a huge part, but the found family was also important. In this one we saw Sage finally grow into who she wanted to be, find love with a wonderful man, create the band she dreamed of and re-connect with her father. I had a great time watching it all unfold. I teared up a little bit, because why not? She re-connected with her father after so many years of silence, it was honestly beautiful to see her let him in.
As for Mitch, I wasn't sure whose side he was on sometimes, but in the end he came through for Sage and I respect him. Sage and Daniel make a great couple. I think they just might be my favorite couple of the three books I've read by Chris Candie. They are each brilliantly talented and willing to bet on each other even if they've only known each other for a short time. Fate seems to have worked its magic to bring them together, because as soon as they meet sparks fly, lyrics are written and two hearts fused together to beat as one.
I'd honestly recommend the entire series, not just this book to any fellow Swifties out there. Really to anyone looking for a sweet romance with behind the door, fade-to-black "spicy" scenes Swiftie or not. They weren't overwhelmingly long or too short, each was just the right length and you can tell how much Chris loved writing each novel. They were all beautiful.
I enjoyed this book. At times I felt like it was a little rushed but at other times I was like omg so slow. But in the end it all wrapped up nicely. I loved to watch Safe grow and for taking charge of what she wants.
The love story is cute, the Father/Daughter relationship is great from not understanding to learning more about the truth behind her Fathers life. The story of Sage taking charge of her own destiny is awesome.
Super cute book. I received this book as part of a Good reads giveaway and am so thankful! I think I probably would’ve enjoyed it more if I was more into music and Taylor Swift. If those are up your alley you will love this book!
