Constructive news, you can't be against that novelty! With all the disasters, conflicts, murders etc. our media offer every day (and every hour), one craves for something one can smile with. Still, this is not wat "constructive news" is about: not positive (versus negative) news, no cosy gags, or cheap feel good messages. This little book makes clear that constructive news is a conscient strategy focussed on presenting solutions for problems, or at least making an open discussion about them possible. And indeed, no one can be against something like that!
Nevertheless I have some problem with this book: it is so full of slogans and excessively catchy phrases that to me its credibility is affected. Because, if you look attentively, our media are already offering lots of constructive stories, solutions and ideas; it's not all negativity you can see or hear. Moreover there are some issues with the concept of constructive news: there's a danger to fall in the trap of commercial, political or ideological interests. And finally, as the author agrees: reporting about the important issues in our world is and remains the most important task of journalism; the rest is an interesting supplement.
So, I have mixted feelings about this book. More so, because it clearly lacks a thorough text-edition.
