One is a grease-streaked heartbreaker. The other is a buttoned-up romantic. Neither of them saw this coming.
Jo Fuller likes her life fixing cars by day, charming women by night, and never getting too close. Her Portland garage is her pride, her independence is sacred, and love? That’s just a fantasy people read about.
Evelyn Barkley is one of those people.
A research assistant with a serious career plan and a secret love of steamy romance novels, Evelyn’s life runs on logic and order until a Friday night out turns into a slow dance she can’t forget.
Can a woman who doesn’t believe in forever fall for one who’s never taken a risk on love?
Fixing Hearts is a butch/femme lesbian romance full of heat, heart, and second chances.
KC Luck’s storytelling of adventure with strong characters continues with this small town big hearted romance. Jo the owner of the local auto shop and mechanic extraordinaire and Sapphire’s heartbreaker has her eye on a woman that seems out of sorts in this place. It is a birthday celebration and the woman definitely is here because of her group. When the women’s eyes lock with Jo’s she looks away but Jo has been struck by something. As she walks over to her and gets her name, says happy birthday and asks her to dance things start to feel different than what Jo usually feels. Evelyn definitely likes what Jo represents but can she do this. Only realized she is interested but never has been before has her fears rearing its ugly head. She convinces herself to go along with it. But when she leaves, twice as things were getting interesting, Jo wonders why she is so taking with this woman. Can both of them stop listening to their fears and try with their hearts? A sweet and sincere read.
Jo Fuller meets Evelyn Barkley at Evelyn's birthday party as the local lesbian bar. Jo is drawn to the shy but pretty woman, and they dance and drink a bit. They go to Jo's place... then Evelyn bolts, leaving a very confused Jo.
Evelyn regrets bolting but intends to leave it alone... until her car breaks down and she ends up at Jo's auto shop.
Jo forgives her, and they start to date, but other troubles come up.
This is a great KC Luck quick read that's filled with a lot of big emotional umpf and love. Well written, well developed, and kept me smiling throughout. There are bumps in the road but at least the angst is low. And there's enough simmering love to keep the flame lit.
I really enjoyed this story between a really talented auto mechanic and an environmental researcher. The auto mechanic and restorer of antique cars was a bar fly most Friday nights- love ‘em and leave ‘em type, until a shy researcher came to the bar one Friday night- and the rest is herstory.
Jo and Evelyn are interesting characters and their love story is fascinating. KC has done a good with this one. The story flows well and it's an easy read. If you like a strong butch and a beautiful femme, this is a story for you! I enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what KC will give us next.
This is a femme,/butch story. Evenly is a person that want to help the environment. She has never been with a woman. For her birth they go to the gay bar and she meets and Jo. Jo owns the automotive shop in town who has a motorcycle with a leather jacket. She is a bit of a player but after meeting Evelyn at the bar things change. It a cute story with HEA
This book is about taking a chance and opening yourself up to what’s put in front of you! KC Luck’s book are always a favorite of mine but JO and Evelyn are just so stinking cute that you have to root for the happily ever after! 5 🌟
KC Luck has written an extremely good story about finding that special someone. Jo and Evelyn made a great butch/femme couple. I enjoyed reading about their relationship.
I lost interest in the book. The characters were so melodramatic about nothing that I simply couldn’t continue. The conflict was so forced that it was laughable. I loved butch and fem dynamic though. I would only read this book again for the cars.
A wonderful read. Both MC's are adorable and the angst is low but has several twists. A few fiery sex scenes with a seasoned butch gently introducing the wonders of women loving women intimacy to a delayed coming to terms with her sexuality character.
As much as I loved Evelyn and Jo and as fun as it was to read about how they met, their hesitation, their undeniable chemistry, I wanted more. It felt like I was just reading the surface layer of their relationship, like everything related to their relationship was too easy. Even the conflict that they dealt with felt too forced; if they had a simple conversation, it would've just been a little blip. Don't get me wrong - at the core of it all, it's a wonderful romance and we need more books that showcase characters taking chances on themselves.
