Where the hell do I start??

I was given an unedited version to read by K E Taylor herself to read whilst she was waiting on getting her edits back from her editor.

Words cannot describe how excited I was when she told me I could read an unedited version of Life After You, I had been DYING to read for MONTHS and when the moment came that I could read it, I felt like I was a fat kid in a candy store. I was so excited that I did a little happy dance that looked something like this.

When I had finally calmed myself down

I eagerly opened my kindle and boy oh boy, I felt like I had the holy grail in my hands. I had this amazing amount of excitement inside of me and I was going to burst if I didn’t get stuck in!

Life After You is about Mackayla Smith & Logan Dale,

The story is told in 2 different point of views, both Mac’s & Logan's. I loved both characters, but my god the way K E Taylor writes Logan is just amazing, she wrote him perfectly. So very well and you forget that he’s being written by a woman, he was all man and no hint of woman about him. He has such amazing one liners about Pokemon and Power Rangers and other amazing stuff. Mac, I loved her inner voice she wasn’t annoying or irritating like some female leads are. K E Taylor managed to juggle the different POV's perfectly with the right amount of emotion and everything else needed. The supporting cast are a hoot, I was in stitches every time they were in the scene, they all had such amazing well written lines and I connected to every single character instantly.

I was hooked from the first page, I don’t want to give any of the story away so I’m not going to write what happens all I will say is that my god, I started off so happy and excited, but then before I knew it K E Taylor had sucked me in and put me on a roller coaster that I didn’t even remember getting on. My emotions and my god my poor heart,

Just when I thought YES! My world came crashing back down to the best plot twist ever! I’m not telling you what, just trust that you need to read it for yourself.

K E Taylor has such an amazing talent, her writing is so easy to read and her plot just flowed effortlessly together. Life After You is going to be a big hit, I’m talking New York Times best seller list. People everywhere are going to be talking about it. And let’s not forget that I read an unedited version can you imagine how much more awesome its going to be when it’s finished and ready to be published. All in all Life After You was better than I ever thought possible. Watch out for this one, there’s no doubt about it that you will be seeing the name K E Taylor a whole lot more!!

I’m just gunna finish off with this

Can I rate this ten stars?

Sweet baby Jesus! Give me a Logan Dale, somebody? anybody? *fans self*

Okay, so this is a story about Kayla & Logan primarily, but also features Burnt Ashes (Logan's band) and Dean & Clay, Kayla's new friends.

Each of the characters in Life After You has a role, I didn't not connect to any of them, they were all written perfectly.

The boys in the band - wow - You can see that they all are really close and have a certain family unit about them even though they're not related. I love that. K.E Taylor writes men perfectly well, to the point that you forget that this book was written by a woman.

The sex was well written, and not every single page in which you find in a lot of books at the moment. This story focused on the storyline, and for me it was so much better because of it.

Now - Let me warn you about the ending.

IT.WILL.RIP.YOUR.HEART.OUT.

But after shouting and screaming 'say it ain't so!' ... I finally picked myself up, mended my broken heart and sat and thought about what happened. It still haunts me even now. After thinking about it, I actually think the author is some kind of evil genius, because of the way she worked it.

For a first time author, this woman has it nailed.
It had laugh out loud moments, heart racing, tummy clenching moments... and moments where you need to go stock up on cookie dough and devour the whole lot, while drying your tears on copious amounts of tissues.

Cliffhanger be damned, I'm gonna be first in line to buy book two.

Well.. I have just finished reading after starting this morning.
From the first page I was hooked, the main characters were awesome. The lead female Mac isn't your typical whiny I need someone to care for me kinda girl, which are really common lately, she is strong and can look after herself. Logan, the lead male, was all man. I forgot at times that he wasn't written by a man, his thoughts and knowledge were all male which is what I want from my book men, I don't want to see female thoughts sneaking into his head. The main characters alternated their points of view in Life After You and normally this annoys me, as I forget who is who but K.E TAYLOR is an amazing writer, she made it flow from one scene to the next, leaving nothing to the imagination. It was easy to picture everything that was happening and was written perfectly.

This book had me on an emotional rollercoaster, I was up, down, happy, sad, elated, frustrated and angry.

I can't write much more without giving away the plot, but the end killed me!! Everyone needs to read this!

Every time I break my own rules I end up disappointed and this was no different. The first book after my 5 error rule and I broke it because I was curious to see how it ended. Once again i'm left wondering if i read the same book as everyone else, because for me this was a lemon. I didn't connect with either character. The heroine was ok but i never really got in her head enough to feel her pain and empathize with her. The hero was kind of a douche. "I can't fuck you against a wall outside a club...but its totally cool on top of a car inside someone's place of business." He tried to dictate her life which I find unappealing and several times in his thoughts he called her a bitch which was downright appalling. You really only get two chapters of them as a couple and its insta i love yous. But why? Why do they love each other beyond they're both pretty and have known each other a long time? I frankly don't understand because we never get a sense of them together and why they actually "fell" for each other. The sex scenes were ok but nothing i'd brag about. The plot was really good but just really poorly executed and shoddily written. There were typos galore (seriously do people even edit books anymore?) and several non sequiturs that left me scratching my head. Also this was an utterly British book which would've been fine...except it was set in the U.S. Either write what you know or do enough research to know how the people in your setting would actually talk. Several colloquialisms were messed up and the middle third of the book basically had no contractions at all, which made it came off as stiff and overly formal. And the cliffhanger ending was obnoxious because I only finished the book hoping for closure.
Bottom line: great idea, awful execution. wouldn't recommend

Life After You by K.E. Taylor is an emotionally gripping romance that takes readers on a journey through grief, healing, and rediscovering love. This isn’t your typical love story—it’s raw, intense, and at times, deeply personal. With some spicy scenes and mature themes, I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone under 18.

The story follows Mackalya, Logan, and Braden as they navigate the complex realities of loss, depression, and emotional recovery. Each character is layered with pain and hope, making their stories feel incredibly real and relatable. For me, the connection was especially strong—this book echoed parts of my own life, and one moment in particular made me feel like it was written just for me.

There’s a powerful twist that caught me completely off guard, but what stayed with me even more was the core message: you’re allowed to be happy, even after everything you’ve been through. That reminder was both freeing and validating.

One quote that really struck me was:

"I’m allowed to be happy! I don’t want to let go of the grief, but I also don’t wanna let go of this feeling of being OK. Content. Happy. Loved. Like it’s actually OK to live my life without carrying the guilt. The shit we go through makes us who we are. We are all just scar tissue beneath the smiles."
This line brought tears to my eyes. It reminded me that healing doesn’t mean forgetting—it means allowing yourself to feel joy again.

Overall, Life After You is a beautiful, heartfelt story that will tug at your heartstrings and leave you thinking long after the last page. If you've ever struggled with grief or questioned whether you're allowed to be happy again, this book will speak to you.

I love a good childhood friends to lovers romance and mix in the brother’s best friend trope, a rockstar MMC and a love that was meant to be and I was hooked. This book has so much more going for it. It is an adventure ride of a book with so much going on but the most poignant thing is the discussions, thoughts and actions related to grief. This book
Is also heartfelt and emotional in the best ways and I was rooting for Kayla (Mac) and Logan from the start. This is the first book in the series and I definitely wanted to keep reading.

I was given an advance readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

K E Taylor has done one fantastic job on this novel, it has left me gasping for more, absolutely amazing!

She touched on every emotion going, the start of the book you can feel the heart break as you learn the despair that leading lady Kayla goes through.

You follow Kayla's story as she tries to get herself together, moving to Portland where she hopes a fresh start is on the cards. Leaving everyone else in her life behind, shutting them out so she can learn to breathe again. As soon as Kayla arrives she finds herself asking for a job at Patty's dinner, where she also scores herself somewhere to leave in Clays and Dean's boarding house.

Dean and Clay are the heartthrobs of the town, both boys will have you in awe of them. Especially Clay, my god did he have me laughing out loud in places. As for Dean he is the one to use and abuse you, except there is something about Kayla he really likes.

Further into the story you learn about the boys she left behind, Sam, Chase, Trey and of course the boy she has loved from a young age Logan. All four boys making up the popular rock band Burnt Ashes. The guys are worried about Kayla and make it there mission to go and find her and bring 'their girl' back to them. However Kayla isn't going to make it easy for them.

Both she, Clay and Dean form a good friendship. The boys giving her some laughter back into her life after the heart break she has had to endure. Though at times she is lost in memories as triggers hit her hard, that even you as a reader can connect too (a few tears were shed from me).

I could tell you more about the story, however I feel I may have already spoken too much. All I can say is please give this series a read, it is amazing and you won't be disappointed. Be warned though, just as everything seems to fall into place for Kayla. It does take an unexpected turn of events leaving you on a cheeky little cliffhanger.

Congrats K E Taylor on an amazing book and I sure as hell cannot wait until book 2 is released. I also can't wait for your novella to be released in December where I can have more of the beginning to this series.xx

This is such an amazing book! I can’t believe it is K.E. Taylor’s debut novel! From page one, I really felt like I connected with Mackayla, Logan and the other members of Burnt Ashes. This is one of those books that you cannot put down. And when you do you are constantly wondering what happens next. Dealing with the grief of losing someone close to her, Mackayla decides that it is time for new change of scenery. So she decides to let fate decide where she goes by throwing a lucky dart at a map. Knowing that Logan and the guys will come looking for her, she decides to leave while they are on tour. The only thing she doesn't plan on is how quick they find her and who comes after her. This book is my favorite kind of book: forbidden love, hot rock-stars, and a close group of friends. This book is the kind of book where you feel like you have known the characters your whole life. I can’t wait for book 2 !

OMG! This book is simply amazing! I could picture every detail and scene in my head. I was truly sucked in from the first page. It's had me laughing out loud, crying, screaming no! yes! As it absolutely pulled at my heart strings and I felt like I was there with the characters. I really enjoyed the twist and turns that I really didn't see coming. Logan Dale is most definitely in my top 5 of book boyfriends, I need him! My only complaint is the book ended! Please, I'm begging you hurry up with book 2 as I need more Logan, plus I need to know what's going to happen after the ending of book one. I'm going to be one clicking this book when it's released so I can have the paperback on my book shelf with my other favourite books that I love to reread over and over again! I will be recommending this book to all my friends :-)

I really don't know where to start with this story, it's definitely an addictive read that I couldn't put down at all. Mac is a girl who has been dealt so much tragedy the loss of her parents and now her twin brother. The only way she can is to run away from all reminders but to do that she has cut off from her brothers band members and best friend Logan who she has loved most of her life. This story takes you through your emotions that you get so caught up in the story you lose yourself completely, the humour has you laughing out loud and the sadness has you in tears so be prepared....

All I can say is WOW!!! This author really knows how to tell a story. This is a story about love, loss, pain, friendship. About how one person can go through so much pain in her life, but still see the good in things, still be optimistic. I would definitely recommend this book to others, and I can't wait to see what else this author has in store for us.

Found this book from a Facebook add for the third in its series. I was chosen as an ARC reader for the third book not knowing it had 2 predecessors… I started reading today anxiously wanting to get to the third book and WOW. I could not put it down. Finished it within hours and I am hooked. Starting the second one tonight as well. The ending? Devastating. I cried a couple times throughout my read and I cannot wait to read Holding Onto You.

It's a fine line between heartache and heartbreak - and K.E. Taylor's "Life After You" has it all.

When you first pick up the book, you might think it's just another romance novel serving you a damsel in distress and a hot tatted up rockstar that might just end up saving the day - but boy are you wrong, because Taylor's novel is so much more than that! And be warned... once you're through with the book, you'll be wanting nothing more than a Charger, a piece of Mr. Dale (to hell with that, just give me all of him!), and possibly a changing room along the way...

Mackayla Smith has known both heartache and heartbreak and has had to suffer through more loss than anyone her age should ever have to. Having lost her twin brother, the only remaining family she had, she decides to leave life as she knows it behind, looking for an escape - for a fresh start.

But what if it all keeps leading her back home?
Home is where the heart is, they say.

And Kayla's, hers is with rockstar Logan Dale - her best childhood friend, and member of Burnt
Ashes, the band her brother had been part of. Logan Dale, who might just happen to have made a promise to never touch her, to never let himself have her.

Promises get broken, and hearts get mended - just to get ripped apart again when happiness seems in reach. "Lifer After You" is an emotional rollercoaster, that you just don't want to quit - once you've let yourself get lost in between the pages, you won't want to put the book down, because it has it all:
A hot and steamy romance, that will have you craving more. Characters that aren't "stuck", but that develop. Tattooed rockstars - I mean, hello, do I really need to say more?! - with unique characters, that will have you wanting to tour with them. And... an end that will leave you wanting to beg K.E. Taylor to hurry up with the next book in the series!

K.E. and Lee Taylor's Life After You is the first instalment in the Burnt Ashes Series. It centres on Mackayla Smith, a young woman who struggles with the loss of her twin brother, and Logan Dale, Burnt Ashes' lead singer and Mackayla's twin's best friend. The novel deftly weaves together themes of introspection, hope, grief, friendship, fame, and resilience.

Mac decided to quit Burnt Ashes during their tour to find solitude, calm, and time to move past her loss as she struggled with loneliness and grief. She begins a new life with a few people who have embraced her after finding a home away from Logan. Logan, however, can no longer allow Mac's absence. When he discovered where Mac was now, he travelled to find her and confront his feelings for her. Will Mac be able to accept a relationship with Logan that goes beyond friendship, or will she remain with her new life?

I enjoy rockstar/celebrity romances, and I have never regretted blindly embracing this book. I was captivated by Logan's charm and his unwavering devotion to Mac throughout my reading experience. Grief is difficult to cope with, particularly for Mac, who has been profoundly impacted. However, he has shown her nothing but extraordinary emotional support, and Mac undoubtedly needed him to get her over it.
As they spend more time together, their chemistry becomes more and more intense and irresistible. You simply can't stop begging for more scenes from these two.
In addition to the romance between Logan and Mac, I loved all of the humour that the other band members offered. Their close bond developed into a family, and their witty banter was a nice addition to the story.

With a concoction of hilarity and feel-good warmth, Life After You is a celebration of the messiness of love and the beauty of embracing life's unpredictability.
Note that this leaves you on a cliffhanger, and the sequel is on the horizon.

I find it very hard to believe that this amazing book is a debut novel by Author KE Taylor. Wow I am very impressed!

This story focuses on the band Burnt Ashes, started by Logan and Braden. In this beautiful rocker romance we meet and instantly fall in love with Kayla. This poor sweet girl suffers a horribly painful loss right away and my heart instantly hurt for her. The in depth amount of detail this author uses to describe Kayla's grief and feelings was impeccable. I've been through this and let me tell you KE Taylor nailed these painful emotions perfectly. I actually felt as if I was Kayla experiencing all of her deep pain. And wow this author knows how to describe a man's thoughts and emotions to a tee as if she were in a man's mind. This was beyond neat and interesting as I do not usually see this. Plus she used the just the right amount of humor giving us a little break from the serious issues in the book. Again I'm impressed beyond words.

I am new to rocker romance books and I highly recommend this book . And I am so excited to have found this author and look forward to many more books from her.

Was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.. and boy am I glad I did!? LOVED it! KE Taylor is surely a writer I'll be following from now on, can't wait to read more of her stuff!

Female lead Mackayla is unlike most and her strength is apparent throughout the book. What she has endured and lost is painful beyond words, yet she is taking charge of her life and trying to move forward.

I'm a sucker for hot rocker books but this was unlike most I've read. I loved getting to know the band, she had me laughing my a@@ off just reading through their banter & antics. ;-) I really felt like I knew the characters, was a part of their story...

Cliffhanger ending folks, beware! As painful as they are, they leave you wanting more so I'll take it!? Love putting a book down at the end only to catch my breath! Can't wait for the next book- I MUST know what happens to Mac & Logan!! HIGHLY recommended!

I have a mild book hangover.

You see, when I picked this book up, I didn't know I was going to love it as much as I did and it ended in a way which had me both gasping and screaming for the next book!

I loved how Life After You didn't feel like a "typical" rock star romance. It wasn't about a groupie falling in love with a hot rock star - although Logan IS hot! It's about friendship, but there is also a heavy sense of loss throughout which doesn't ever get lost or forgotten about during Kayla's journey. It's part of her story, and it is all weaved together beautifully.

The level of hot guys in this book is off the charts - I hope we see more of all of them in Book 2!

Wow this book is totally amazing! K.E Taylor is a new author to me and I must say she wrote this book beautifully... Life after you kept pulling on my heart strings all the things Mac has been through is purely devastating and can't image the pain and suffering she went through... But thank god she had Logan... But how long for? Surely if you loved someone for so long you couldn't just let them go? But we all know that when things are going brilliant a spanner always gets thrown in the works and turns your life upside down!

Wow! Started the book this afternoon and it was just so gripping I couldn't put it down.
Extremely well written, every character had a part to play and you feel like you can relate to each one. The female was not your typical girly girl or annoying in any sense and man would I like to get my hands on Logan dale the main male character.

I was laughing, crying and screaming out loud in anger at the book as if what I'm reading might magically change in front of me.

Cannot wait until the next book.....

I instantly was hooked on this book, the characters are relate-to-able I totally love them.
At times I was frustrated with Mac and logan. But I soon got past it. They are such a adorable couple. There were some full on lmso moments in this book and there were times I was crying.
I fell in love with Katie's style it flowed perfectly. The emotions were perfectly reflected.

I totally loved this book from the very first page. The Characters are all very unique. There is laughter, tears, suspense and a whole lot more with in the pages of this book. It finishes with a cliff hanger, so I cant wait for book 2 to be released. The author has created a wonderful book, with a fantastic story line and I would not have guessed it to be her debut book as it is very well written. Loved this book! I didn't want it to end. MaKayla is one of my favorite characters, her sassiness and sense of humor pulled me in. Lots of emotions and great feels! Can't wait for the next book! MaKayla has been in love with her best friend for years and slowly simmers in her turmoil of not being able to claim Logan as hers. After the loss of her twin Braden she needs a change of scenery to breathe and live again. Will Logan find her before its too late? You'll have to read to find out! I recommend Life After You to anyone who loves a not so typical romance.

This is a story I couldn't wait to pick up where I left off.
You meet Kayla who after her brothers death decides with a dart where she wants a fresh start with her life. She ends up in Portland, Oregon where she meets Patty, Clay and Dean, in the mean time she has her past trying to get in touch with her. This is an amazing emotional story about heartache, true love and new beginnings. This story ends in a cliffhanger that will leave you wanting more. I can't wait to see where this series goes, there are so many great characters that you want to know more about.
