Callie Osbourne thought she knew her husband.
After losing her spouse, Carrick, to a horrific car accident, Callie plunges deep into a lonely depression. Her friends abandon her and the school fires her from her teaching job.
Only a knock at the door from a tall, stunningly handsome man could turn her luck around. This man turns out to be Carrick’s older brother, Ronan. Problem is, she never knew Carrick had any family at all, let alone a gorgeous brother.
Now Callie needs to decide if she wants to follow this mysterious Ronan to claim her husband’s land at Beartooth Mountain.
But Ronan’s family is hiding a shocking secret. And they aren’t the only ones who lay claim to Beartooth Mountain.
I wish I had paid attention when I opened this one as a short quick read, because I don't like this growing trend of authors publishing a book in parts. It seems kind of shady in my personal opinion, but that is a talk for another time. This book had potential right up until the moment at the end that ruined it all. Now I'm not going to spoil things, but I just didn't approve of the heroine's actions, and this definitely made me not want to continue with the remaining parts of the book. Had the story been complete, I would have given it the normal 100 pages I generally give all books before I declare them DNF. Alas, that wasn't possible with this one, so all I'm left with is the nasty after-taste in my mouth from the heroine's actions. Unfortunately, I'm just not pushed to read more now when there are far too many books out there to read.
This one snuck up on me as a great read. Callie is recently widowed by Carrick who was a bear shifter, but he never shared that fact or the fact that he has family on a mountain in Montana. Imagine Callie's surprise when his brother Ronan shows up at her door with a copy of his brother's will that deeds part of that mountain to her. She has to sell it or live on it. In the meantime she has to fight the attraction she feels for the man who looks so much like her husband but is so different. And when they get to the mountain, a cougar shifter named Jenner lets the paranormal secret out of the bag and wants to claim her for himself. This was a nice and hot bite, just the beginning of what looks to be a great serial.
This was an okay beginning. I made the mistake of not realizing it was a partial story and that frustrated me when I got to the end. I'm sure the rest of the story is probably fine but I wasn't inspired to find the next part. The characters seemed a bit one dimensional and I just didn't connect with them like I would have liked - especially for a serial type story.
Callie's husband dies leaving her alone with no family. Until a knock on the door she realizes that her late husband had lied when he said he had no family. At the door was her brother in law wanting the land her late husband left her. So she decides to go with Ronan to the land and sign it off so she gets in his truck and goes with only to have little bumps in the road. Good read
I really enjoyed reading Choosing Her Alohas:(Alphas of Beartooth Mountai: Part 1) A BBW Werebear Shifter!!! All about Callie Osborne a young women who just lost her husband Carrick who was a werebear but never told her. She find out six months later when his brother Rona comes to take her back to the mountain so she can see the land her husband owned, that now belongs to her. This was one of the hottest stories I have ever read!! On their journey to the mountain they encounter a cougar who is a werecat, who wants her, just as Rona does. Read this story, because it is intense and will drag you in!! It’s full of emotion and plenty of toe curling does occur. I really want to read part 2!!!! Author how do I find it!!!
I hate a story that ends in a cliff hanger in order to get you to read the next book. The story was confusing and incomplete. It was to short to to give it more than a 1 and then the cliffhanger sinched it.
After Callie lost her husband, she is surprised when his brother Ronan turns up on her doorstop to let her know that Carrick left land to her in his will. The kicker is the family wants the land and is counting on Ronan to get it back. Thus begins the trek to Beartooth Mountain and when passion flares with Ronan & Callie, you get interesting results since Callie doesn’t know that her husband & Ronan are bear shifters.
While the characters didn’t seem that developed and the story was a little weak this was still a good read.
This is a cliffhanger, which would probably be okay if the plot, setting, or characters were interesting enough to make a reader want to continue. They're not. You get a quick set-up, the recently widowed MC being obsessed with her newly found brother-in-law, an implication that she's key to the survival of the pack (not fleshed out at all), and two alphas both key on winning her. There's little backstory or anything to really make you care whether this pack makes it or whether the MC and her brother-in-law make it work.
Callie is mourning the loss of her husband, Carrick and has shut out the world. Unknown to her Carrick has some secrets.
Ronan, his brother shows up to take her to Beartooth Mountain so that she may decide what she wants to do with the property Carrick left her in his will. Along the way Callie encounters Jenner, a cougar shifter whose plan seems to be claiming part of Beartooth Mountain as his own. Callie feels an intense sexual desire for Jenner. Ronan, a bear shifter returns to find them in the throes of passion. After a fight between the two, Callie learns that Ronan and his family are shifters. With Ronan being injured they continue the slow journey to his den. Soon after arrival they argue and Callie impetuously ran away. Jenner finds her and takes her to his lair and they continue from where they left off. Afterwards Callie realizes the magnitude of her actions.
A nice tale. The sex was hot. Wouldn’t pay for the other installments though.
The is was a very good story. It was only 57 pgs. But was worth it. You felt like you were introduced to a good beginning of the series. It was good enough that I got book 2-4 already and each was only .99. Was a fair price for a short story series. Sallie was feeling like she lost everything. She had no family left and her husband just died in an accident. Out of the blue (2months after her husband dies) a guy shows up looking for her. Ronan, is callie's brother in law. Her husband said he didn't have any family alive, so this was a shock. He is here to show her the family she has and the land that was left for her. But what will she do?
What can I say, its the first part of a very promising series, not really a cliffhanger buts its there. Callie lost the love of her life, her husband Carrick in a car crash. Three months later his brother Ronan shows up with a will and is wanting the land that his brother left her. But Ronan has other pressing matters than getting the land and saving his clan/family, it the desire for Callie. But when he talks her into leaving her home to go to his den there is trouble on his land by a menacing cougar Jenner. Callie didnt know about the secret her husband's family and Jenner until she was put in the middle of a fight, about her.
Glad it was free lol to short and the next two books are not a bad price at .99 cents but book four and five are $2.99 and both under 59 pages. The story just squashed together for a couple hot scenes. Needless to say when I finished this book I checked out the rest and decided to skip them because book one couldn't hold my interest long enough to see what happens. Man dies, woman meets the older brother of the deceased, she gets the hots for him, she finds out she was married to a shifter, I just couldn't continue with it. And trust me I love my paranormal just to boring for me and then have to pay $2.99 for book four and five I still can't wrap my brain around that lol
The story was a widowed Callie and is introduced to the realm of shifters, a bear, Ronan, and Jenner, a cougar. Both alphas. Both want her and they are enemies. Callie was wed to Ronan's brother who died in an accident.
The concept was good, the reason for a 3 is because of the grammar and spelling errors. It distracts from the story. I keep getting these serials and I really do not like them, at all! Could make a good book if it was in one novel, and the errors taken care of.
Full review to come. I am so back logged on reviews, but lately I have just wanted to read, read, read and not be bothered with reviewing. So, I imagine I will get back to it eventually, But for now I’m going to read another book instead.
Callie, a bit of a weakling and city girl, I feel she can't cut it in the wild. She thinks she can try to live on the mountain?! I think not! Poor Ronan, but then I feel for Jenner! I am so undecided, what will Callie do? I hope she's sucks it up and picks both. I really don't think Ronan will be okay with that, but then if he can't see....
If you're looking for a great werebear menage, look no further! The main character is easy to relate to and connect with and I loved watching her get pulled around by her two alpha men. I also found myself rooting for Jenner, which was unexpected but there was something wonderfully refreshing about his animal instincts. Great series, worth reading all the way through!
A nice shifter romance, but one that ends too weakly. The protagonist is a bit too willing to go off with a complete stranger, or a bit too willing to follow a wild animal (even one she knows can shift into human form), and seems a bit too comfortable to accept the whole idea of shifters in general. Still, the writing is solid, and promises good things to come in future installments.
Kindle Unlimited book in series. Cliffhanger. Good beginning to series about a woman who loses her husband and finds out he had many secrets. When 2 shifters, 1 her brother-in-law and the other his rival, both want her they fight. One is hurt and lashes out and she runs into the arms of the other.
Really liked with the exception of it being a cliffhanger. That was a bummer. Entertaining with a catchy shifter storyline that makes you want to read more to find out what is going to happen between Callie, Ronan and another unexpected character.
Callie sure has her work cut out for her. I know I would have just as tough a decision has she does. Both alphas are hard to resist and I can understand her indecision. I definitely have to read book two to see what happens next!
I was really excited about this book, Callie has actually become the most aggregating characters I have ever heard off. I think I someone needs to knock some since into her.
It was a short read but good. The author was able to keep my attention on the storyline. Wow to choose between two alpha shifters. Interesting especially since Callie knows nothing about them and was just thrown into it.
This trend of releasing tiny pieces of novels must stop. I don't care if the writing is interesting when I sit to read a story I want all of it at once. I refuse to purchase the other parts this is an incomplete manuscript don't waste your time
I have got to stop reading these short serial's. Every time I finish one I'm unsatisfied and have to dig for the next books to know what happens next. This sorry wasn't particularly inventive but it pulled me in nonetheless.
This has the potential for an interesting shifter story, but it didn't hook me enough to keep me reading. I think the volume was a bit longer, I might be invested in the characters and plot to continue.
Didn't like the heroine "Callie" - she was blah and made stupid choices... The whole "heat" scenario put me off... She's human and it didn't seem to fit the story.
