Since devastating secrets were uncovered by Nora Kessler, Niklas Fleischer and Victor Faust have been divided as business partners and brothers. But ultimately Niklas is persuaded to lead a mission to Italy, and he sees it as an opportunity to set in motion forgiveness—or retribution—for his brother’s betrayal.

The mission: play the role of a wealthy German investor and kidnap a beautiful, notorious madam named Francesca Moretti. No stranger to these types of roles, Niklas is the best man for the job, but this time the risks will be much greater as he will not be doing it alone. Izabel Seyfried, still fresh out of a life of imprisonment and sex slavery, could be negatively affected by the things she will see in Moretti’s mansion, and Niklas must keep her in line so she does not blow their cover and get them killed.

But Niklas isn’t the only one who must play a role—Nora takes on the humiliating task of playing Niklas’s slave, and Izabel must play the role of his lover.

On one hand, Niklas couldn’t be enjoying himself more. On the other hand, the emotions that continue to rage inside of him may be too much for him to control, and it may be Niklas—not Izabel—who needs to be kept in line. He cannot forget what Victor has done, and this mission may just be the beginning of his downward spiral.

Can the blood bond that Niklas and Victor share as brothers be stronger than resentment? Or will vengeance dig the blade so deep that their bond be eternally severed?

OMG! Where is this story leading?!? I'm dying to find out...but too scared to look! This fifth book in the series was another mind-blowing roller coaster ride.

Izabel is able to pull Niklas back into the fold, convincing him to go on a mission with her and Nora. If anyone could reach him after what Victor confessed in the last book, it had to be Izabel. They've always had an interesting dynamic between them, but never more so than in this book.

After playing the ultimate villain in the last book, Nora is integrating herself into the group with relative ease. Izabel has become her pet project of sorts. She spends her time training her in the art of callous indifference and critiquing her every move as an operative. It is clear that Izabel still envies the cold and calculating Nora. However, I think that deep down, Nora also envies her.

While Niklas, Izabel and Nora are on a mission to capture the infamous Madame Francesca, Victor and Fredrik stay behind. Victor is still tying up some loose ends and always planning ahead. He doesn't appear in many scenes this time around, but he makes quite an impression in his few appearances.

This continues to be a fantastic series. If you love dark, edgy stories with a little romance, some action and plenty of suspense, this is a great series. This book has left me reeling! I'm curious, and also terrified, to see what Victor has in store for Izabel and the others. I have this ominous feeling hanging over me, telling me that his actions are going to wreck my world. I'm still too scared to face whatever is in store, so I'll probably wait for the Audible edition of the next book to be released. Once it's released, it's game-on!

5***I LOVE “MY” BLACK WOLF STARS

Series: The Black Wolf is the 5th book of “In The Company of Killers series”. This series MUST be read in order.
Type: The Best Romantic Thriller/Suspense Series
POV: Multiple

“I do whatever I want…because I’m my own person. And I’ll fight for whatever I need to make me whole. Whoever I need to make me whole.” Niklas

Niklas Fleischer , was born in the Order the same as his brother Victor but he knew he didn’t want that life; He did not want to be an assassin, he wanted to be “FREE” and not have to respond to anyone. At an early age he wanted to leave and escape but the love for his brother was much stronger, so much that he knew he couldn’t leave without him so he decided to stay and prove that he could become strong and good as his brother. He was the only family he had, Victor had killed his father to protect him.

“Victor was a natural, a machine, he took to everything as innately as an infant learning to crawl….I knew I would never be as good as Victor no matter how hard I tried,” Niklas

Niklas can’t forgive his brother from murdering the love of his life; a woman he had fallen in love with on an assignment. He felt betrayed by his own brother who he always trusted and thought he would never do anything to hurt him. He was hurt and I hurt so much for him. He covered under a hard mask, a bad boy who fuck and smoke and didn’t care shit what people thought about him but beneath it all he was amazing. I loved Niklas since the beginning of the series but this book just sealed the deal for me.

“I believed him when he told me that night that he’d never do anything to cause me harm. I believed him with my whole life and my whole heart and my whole goddamned soul.” Niklas

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This book focuses mainly on Niklas; however so many things happen as usual this author brings out so many twist and turns had me thinking about my sanity by the time I was done and wanting more. Victor only trusts his brother to carry this assignment, no matter how hurt Niklas was about what he did; he knew that Niklas will risk his life to protect his love “Izabel”. Victor’s weakness has always been his brother and now it was Izabel the only way he will let her go is with Niklas at her side.

“When I look at you, I see Niklas as that boy all over again, and I will not let you follow me into misery the way I let my brother….I know no other man with more loyalty and heart, than my brother” Victor

Victor sends Izabel and Nora; Two badass female assassins to find Niklas and ask to come with them on this assignment, he was the only one that could pull it off. The mission was to find Olivia Bram, she was abducted seven years ago; they needed to purchase her and send her back to the United States. Then they had to capture Francesca Moretti an evil, sadist woman who they knew took the girl and deliver her to Olivia’s father to deal with her in his own way. However, things did not worked as they planned so many things happened while they were in Italy my head was spinning. I was nervous, anxious; I was sad, mad it was just insane.

While Niklas, Izabel and Nora were on their mission; Victor Faust and Fredrik Gustavsson were dealing with other business in the order; They lived at Boston headquarters running an Underground assassination organization. Victor’s priority was to get Vonnegut; resolved things in his Order, how much can Nora be trusted?; makes sure Izabel ability to be a part of the Mexico mission; and find out if his brother is in or out. He sure was on top of everything and I’m in awe of him but I have the same questions or more by the time the book ended I have millions of questions. Dorian Flynn, well also part of the Order betrayed them. And what happened I did not see it coming and I was devastated at first but then after reading farther on the reasoning behind Victor’s decision I understood why he did things the way he did. He is so smart I love him I wish there was more of him on this book and Fredik but this was Niklas book and boy did I enjoyed it, no, I freaking loved every second of it.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I loved everything about this book. How Niklas was a human after all, he just pretended he didn’t care but inside he cared a lot. I love how he freaking loved his brother no matter what, I know he resents him and who knows if he will ever forgive him but I know he loves him. I loved the relationship he had with Izabel and how he protected her and called her “Izzy”. The way he fucked “Nora” just to make a point and them both loved it. I cried so much for his pain, for his childhood, for the freedom he always wanted and for the love he never got. But overall I loved the fact that he was amazing on this book. A complete badass assassin, he took control and over the mission and I everything he did was amazing in my eyes. This book was everything I look for on a book and more. I want more and will be counting the days for the next book in the series. This is not a series with happy endings and sweet roses. I recommend this to anyone looking for a good romantic thriller full of action, suspense, surprises, and is not afraid of people dying.

“To be human means to always go with your heart. The moment you betray your heart is the moment you lose everything.” Victor

I wish I could find words to describe how perfect this book is. It is by far the BEST book I have read in the last few months, combining just the right amount of action, suspense, violence, and romance. It’s both a character-driven and plot-driven story with such intricacy it kept me guessing the whole way through, with surprise reveals that made my eyes go round with shock. I had no idea where the story would go, no idea what kind of plot twist the author would throw in; in fact, I would even say this book is a contradiction. Loyalty and betrayal, love and hate, sacrifice and self-preservation...this book has it all and a blend of all the above is what made this book such a riveting and unputdownable read.

This book picks up right where things left off at the end of the last book, where startling discoveries were made and affected every single member in Victor’s order. Perhaps the person who was most shocked and hurt is Victor’s half-brother Niklas and ever since then, they’ve been divided and distant. Since I was dying to get into Niklas’s head and read what was going on in his mind, I was so ecstatic that The Black Wolf was mainly his story. Niklas is arguably the most complex and multi-faceted character in this entire series, as he’s had to balance his unwavering loyalty to Victor, his duty to the Order, his confusing and mixed feelings for his brother’s love Izabel, and now, the hurt and anger of Victor’s betrayal. I loved getting his perspective while I read. It fascinated me to see how quickly Niklas could adapt in his surroundings, his reaction to multiple traps and obstacles, and his constant inner struggle regarding Victor. The author nailed the male POV – not just for Niklas’s chapters but also Victor’s – and made it feel so real, raw, and genuine to the point where I got choked up at a few parts.

“You are my brother…and that makes you my only weakness. It is why it’s forbidden to have ties like ours, why we can never tell our secret – because ties makes us weak, and weakness gets us killed.”

While Niklas is the main character of this book, Izabel and newcomer Nora play huge roles as well, and once again, the author didn’t disappoint with both of their character portrayals. Together, the three of them go on a mission that involves an evil and sadistic madam and that’s when all three of their skills are really showcased. The thing is, the number one quality that I love about this series is the stellar character growth in each book. I like that not everyone starts off as a badass, and that while reading I’m a witness to each character maturing. Victor’s weakness is Izabel. Izabel’s weakness is her humanity. Niklas’s weakness is his love and loyalty to Victor. These very flaws are what makes these characters flawless, as it makes these deadly assassins feel real to me.

“…you are better at being human than any of us, you have not fully given your life over to this life and I do not think you ever should…you want to be all these things because you think they will make you a better operative but deep down you know it is wrong; you are beginning to fight an internal war, your mind wanting one thing, but your heart wanting another…and to be human means to always go with your heart. The moment you betray your heart is the moment you lose everything.”

Even though this is the 5th book in the series, I’m a little surprised that the author was still able to create a fresh, engaging plot and keep my attention (though I probably shouldn’t be surprised since this author’s books haven’t bored me before). To me, it’s so incredibly rare to find an ongoing series that makes me pine for the next book immediately after I finish the last, and most of all, make me actually want to continue the series. Sigh. It’s going to be an agonizing wait for the next book to arrive but I just know the author will deliver yet another amazeballs addition to this already fantastic series.

The Black Wolf is the 5th book in this highly addicting romantic suspense series, so reading the first 4 books are absolutely necessary, especially since this book picks up right where things left off at the end of book 4. Reading order:

"We are unique, you and I, the black wolves of our families, mutations; we are special."

description

In the Company of Killers is by far one of the best series out there. A perfect combination of suspense, action, and romance. I find myself devouring each and every installment, once I reach that last page, I am always left yearning for more.

description

In The Black Wolf the reader is thrown back into the world of The Order, a secret group of assassins, and with the secrets revealed at the end of book 4, everyone is a bit on edge, especially Niklas. After learning of his brother, Victor's betrayal, he is destroyed.

description

When The Order gets a request travel to Italy, and kidnap Fransesca Moretti, a madam with a sadistic streak, Victor trust only Niklas to accompany Izabel.

"What makes you think your brother's loyalty to you will always be unwavering, Victor?" I stand up to meet his gaze waiting for his answer. "Because he is Niklas," he says, "and I know no other man with more loyalty and heart, than my brother."

I fear going into the plot anymore, I don't want to spoil anything. The Black Wolf is a gripping, wonderfully paced story, that kept me on the edge of my seat. It's dark and gritty, and full of complex characters you can't help but love. I can't wait for more.

5 STARS! ★★★★★

“We are unique, you and I, the black wolves of our families, mutations; we are special.”

If there is such a thing as book heaven, I'm in it now after finishing The Black Wolf. This is a high that I can't come down from because reading this is like being on crack; one taste and it kept me addicted. Hook, line and sinker. Hands down this series is THE BEST romantic thriller/suspense series out there and if you haven't pick it up, you have NO IDEA what you're missing out!

The Black Wolf being the 5th book in the series, takes on a progressive storyline whereby The Order (which is the organisation of assassins) has been shaken up with the aftermath of Book 4. Secrets were revealed and the consequences are devastating for some, particularly with Niklas learning about his brother, Victor's betrayal.

When a new mission surfaced that only Niklas would be the perfect man for the job, Izabel convinced him to take the job and together with the newly recruited Nora, they were jetted of to Italy. A mission that hits close to home for Izabel, their latest target comes in a form of a beautiful sadistic madam named Fransesca Moretti.

I'm finally glad that we got Niklas's story in this series. Readers have always seen him as the rebellious and cocky one but being gifted with his POV certainly presented another side of him we've been dying to learn about. While Niklas may be the focus point of this book, I love how the author cleverly shifts to other MCs at times to allow character growth especially Izabel in this one. The dynamic between Niklas and Izabel was something that I've been looking forward to for a long time and I'm glad it delivered!

This is probably a book that I can't give too much away due to the nature of the plot but honestly people, READ. THIS. SERIES. This is just one of those reads that I wish I could devour each page slowly but I can't help but flip the pages fast enough to see what comes next. Call me a hopeless dreamer but I honestly wish this series would never come to an end.

JA Redmerski once again delivers a read that is incredibly well-paced, a storyline that grips your attention from start to finish and puts you on a ride that keeps you on the edge at every single turn. If this series was a real drug, I'd be a very jolly addict because God forbid I wish I could have infinite of it!! Not only is the author capable of messing with my mind with new twists and revelations, she is a genius with wrecking my emotions with her words alone that I wished I wasn't more of a human to be able to stomach these feelings. She hits me right in the gut!

It's absolutely thrilling, heart-racing, dark and gritty in all the right places plus a group of characters that I'd love to be acquainted with. I can't ask for a better read when it comes to this genre and I'm already dying for the next!

The Black Wolf marks the fifth book in J.A. Redmerski's heart-pounding, thrilling series, 'In the Company of Killers'. With unexpected revelations and developments that kept me on the edge of my seat, and fleshed out, complex characters that continue to grow with every book, Redmerski weaves a seductive web of suspense, violence, and romance.

Bitter with Victor’s betrayal, Niklas isolates himself from his brother’s Order and drowns himself in women, cigarettes, and whiskey. His indulgence in vices and self-pity comes to a respite when Izabel convinces him to take a mission in Italy. Along with Nora, the three must infiltrate the infamous Francesca Moretti's mansion, kidnap her, and find a missing girl. But Francesca is no ordinary madam; with a sadistic streak more terrifying than Fredrik Gustavsson’s and a questionable sanity, she is the best and most ruthless in the business. Even with Niklas’ experience and Nora’s skills, things don’t exactly go as planned...

“With Francesca Moretti, the stakes are higher, the risk greater, and the game deadlier.”

description

We learn more about Niklas in this book. His discordant feelings for his brother, his volatile rage, and his inner demons. I’ve always found Niklas to be intriguing in previous books, but now that we get to step into his mind and see his inner workings, I've come to really like his developing character (maybe even more than Fredrik).

“We are unique, you and I, the black wolves of our families, mutations; we are special.”

description

Niklas is a fascinating character. He’s in a stage where he’s just starting to find himself. He’s been in Victor’s shadow for so long, struggling to keep up with his brother’s seemingly perfect discipline, but they couldn’t be more different. What sets Niklas apart from the other seasoned killers, like Victor and Nora, is an undercurrent of humanity that he fights to suppress. Who knew that underneath that bad-boy, reckless, unapologetic exterior was an intensely complex character?

description

There’s a slightly different nuance in Niklas and Izabel’s relationship in this book. Niklas is growing into himself and grasping on to his humanity - something he sees and respects in Izabel. Whatever is developing between them, at least on Niklas’ end, is too complex to put into words, but I’m eager to see how it will unfold. His relationship Victor, on the other hand, is still in a murky, dark place. He hates his brother for the betrayal, but loyalty runs deep in his veins.

“Loyalty is not so unlike love: you do things for it that you would not otherwise do; you feel a terrible, all-consuming sense of responsibility to uphold it; you go the extra mile to prove it; and most of all, you accept the pain it creates because to deny it would be to deny the loyalty itself. The only difference between loyalty and love is that for love you do all of these things because you want to, and you would do them again, and again, and again. Loyalty is learned; love is organic.”

description

With heart-pounding twists and page-turning suspense that builds until the very last line, The Black Wolf makes a great addition to the series. The end promises dark times ahead for our killers, especially Niklas, Izabel, and Victor. This is going to be a long, excruciating wait for the next book, but I can’t wait to see how J.A. Redmerski will blow us away again.

5 Incredible – Could-not-put-it-down STARS!!!!

The Black Wolf is the fifth book In the Company of Killer series. I love this series. I love every single novel in this series. I love how each book is its own beast and I love that each one focuses on a new person, yet the entire group is featured.

This is Niklas story and I was DYING for this one.

I actually waited awhile before I started The Black Wolf, I just knew in my heart this one would give me a book hangover and I’m still reeling over it! Let’s just say it took me a few days to write this review because I just adore and love this book so much.

We know from Seeds of Iniquity that Victor killed Niklas’ beloved. It came to a complete surprise and I still love Victor, flaws and all. Because of this betrayal Niklas is forging his own path. Also, Nora is part of the group now. Oh the dynamics!

A lot of questions come to my mind. How is Nora going to fit in? Will Nora be a threat to Izabel? Will Victor forgive Niklas? What will Victor do?

Victor has a new contract, he needs two slaves and an owner to go into the field and adduct a Madame. I was really interested in the plot of the book as you can imagine. Victor needs two slaves and of course Nora and Izabel are brought on the mission, but how will Izabel act? She is a reformed slave. Will she have a break down?

I thought Victor would be the “owner”, but he needs Niklas to do it. Victor says he needs Niklas because Niklas is the only one that can complete the mission flawlessly, but we can kind of guess that there is much more to it.

The best part of the book and why I love the author so much is that there is so much more than what is. There’s a motive to every move and you will continue guessing until the very end.

THE.VERY.END!

Izabel is treated as Niklas’ girlfriend and Nora is treated as Niklas’ slave. They are to never break character unless they are alone. There is crazy tension all around! Niklas cares for Izabel and he would do anything to protect her and you will see it. Nora is a different breed and she finds Niklas attractive. She wants his body and I love how different Izabel and Nora are.

When the three go into the mission, there’s so much drama, suspense and questions! I love it. I can’t go on to how much I love this book. I love how all the players are woven together. I love reading every POV, I love Victor’s love for Izabel and I love reading Niklas inner turmoil.

And do not even get me started on the end. The author doesn’t leave you hanging, but there will be a lot of questions going through your mind. TheMAIN question is what is Victor’s motive and plan? I can’t wait for the next book!

What I think ….

I ALSO want…

J.A. Redmerski brought the excitement and excellent character development for this group of assassins in this fifth book of the series. This story was really action packed and centered around Niklas, Victor’s brother, who in the last book found out something very damaging about his big brother.

“I believed him when he told me that night that he’d never do anything to cause me harm. I believed him with my whole life and my whole heart and my whole goddamned soul.”

Victor has a new assignment for Izabel, Nora and Niklas in Italy. The woman will play his slaves and they are to rescue a stolen girl and kidnap the evil sadistic madam. This plot was crazy and very well done as feelings between Niklas, Nora, and Izabel come into play and staying into character is a challenge for some. Meanwhile, we are treated to chapters of what the other members are up to in America and things are seriously brewing for the next book between Victor and Izabel and I’m pretty nervous.

This installment in the series was very creative and all characters are darkly wonderful. I fell completely in love with Niklas in this book and am really excited to see what happens next for this group of assassins.

“To be human means to always go with your heart. The moment you betray your heart is the moment you lose everything.”

If you haven’t meet this group yet, I highly recommend picking up the first book of this series and joining The Order.

OMG - That was one kick-ass ride! First off, let me say I was soooo excited about this fifth installment of the In the Company of Killers series and I was NOT disappointed! Well, except for the cover art. Now, two days after finishing it, I am still thinking about this book! Let me add that I also have read a different book in the meantime to shake off this preoccupation little book high but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. And you know what? I'm glad.

The author J.A. Redmerski has written a stellar series for fans of dark thriller/suspense. She has thrown in complicated relationships and incredible characters that you can't help but feel a connection with...no matter how inhuman they may appear. Although The Black Wolf is Niklas's story, Izabel and Nora are equally primary characters and contribute their own POV's, along with a smaller role by Victor. I found Izabel's portion in this novel to be incredibly touching as readers see her begin to embrace her tendency to show tenderness. As much as I've enjoyed seeing her character evolve, I hated seeing her try to break herself for the sake of the job. It seems like Niklas feels the same way :)

Oh Niklas...
description
I very much enjoyed getting to know Niklas more in this installment. I never really liked his character much, but I have to admit I teared up at the tiny bits of humanity he seems to have kept hidden away for himself. Fredrick will always be my favorite "killer" though (and I was happy to see him in this one a few times), but I now have a new appreciation for Niklas. He's a character I'm hoping to see much more of in the future.

Just as my view of Niklas has changed, events in this book had me questioning my view of some of the other characters as well. The cliffhanger ending basically promises me that I really don't know anything at all about what's in store for them and any predictions I may have about their motives or their future in general will surely be discarded. All I can say is the next book cannot come soon enough! I applaud you Ms. Redmerski! As much of a mind-f*ck this book may have been, I don't ever want this series to end. Keep them coming!!!

My favorite quote:
"Loyalty is not so unlike love: you do things for it that you would not otherwise do; you feel a terrible, all-consuming sense of responsiblity to uphold it; you go the extra mile to prove it; and most of all, you accept the pain it creates because to deny it would be to deny the loyalty itself. The only difference between loyalty and love is that for love you do all of these things because you want to, and you would do them again, and again, and again. Loyalty is learned; love is organic."

The In the Company of Killers series includes the following installments (as of July 2015):
Killing Sarai (In the Company of Killers, #1) by J.A. Redmerski Reviving Izabel (In the Company of Killers, #2) by J.A. Redmerski The Swan & the Jackal (In the Company of Killers, #3) by J.A. Third read thoughts: I honestly think I might like this book a little more every time I read it. Like, Niklas is my favorite character in this series.

Second read thoughts: Ok, so one of the biggest reasons I wanted to re-read this series was because I wanted to pay more attention to Niklas in the first books because I had wrote that boy off long ago and didn't like him. And then in #4 I was starting to take more notice of him and when I first read TBW I really really fell in love with him. And now here we are, my second time reading this book and I loved it even more this time around. This is my favorite book of the series (I have since read the 6th book as I'm writing this review) and I really just want more and more and more Niklas in future books. How has he become my favorite. Except for Nora of course, who is Queen of All the Land.

----

First read thoughts: I can't decide if this is my favorite so far of the series. Damn. All my feels. I may be doing a non-spoiler series review of books 1 - 5 if that interests people! More people need to read this series. It's the best.

5+ It wasn't enough...I still need more stars!!

I'm not OK. Just different.

Yet again, I am left in awe after reading another epic installment in the ITCoK series.

The last time we heard about the Order, the group was left in disarray, when the arrival of newcomer, Nora came and shook everything up and secrets were revealed.

Nicolas Fleischer seemed the one to be the most effected by what he learned. After hearing about his brothers betrayal, Niklas has gone AWOL, and no one has heard from him. Unknown of what has become of him, he's kept himself away from the group in hopes of gaining some clarity.

A new mission has been presented, in which the skills Niklas encompasses will help them achieve their goal. Victor wants his brother to carry out this mission, as his love, Izabel is determined to advance her skills by being a part of it. He knows that if Niklas goes, she will be in good hands. But they still have to find him and convince him to go. As it is, his heart is not in the position to go back to work.

 photo image.jpg3_zpsob8tw4sd.jpg

The Mission- A father is looking for his lost daughter, and is positive she ended up in Italy where the notorious Madam, Francesca Moretti is using her as either one of her many sex slaves or cyprians that conduct business for her. Their goal is to get her out, and abduct the famous Madam unharmed. Niklas will be accompanied by Nora and Izabel. Since the leaders' girlfriend has had a past as a sex slave, Izabel has the potential to ruin everything by getting feelings involved. And Nora...well, Nora doesn't have feelings.

 photo image.jpg2_zpsx3gykutm.jpg

This is a more complicated task than it seems. This is a family business, and many are involved. The estate is also heavily guarded. But the hardest issue, is not knowing exactly what Francesca looks like.

The trio use their skills in order to succeed. But they have some bumps along the way.

 photo image.jpg4_zpsdy0gksmo.jpg

Will this assignment prove to be too much for Izabel? And with everything that occurs, will Niklas be able to forgive his brother, settle his past, and come back for good?

 photo imagejpg3_zpsdfa8f0b7.jpg

This book has once again proven that J.A. Redmerski knows how to write a non-stop exciting read that you want to read from cover to cover. And when it does end, you're pissed because you want so much more. This grabbed me from the first page and it consumed me til the very end.

I loved getting into the mind of Niklas. The first three books, we didn't get too much from this man. It wasn't until the last book that we were able to get more information about parts of his life. We are so used to his casual demeanor and how he butts heads with Izabel, so it was nice to actually know what happened to him and gauge more about his personality and his thoughts.

Even though this is primarily a book about Niklas, Izabel played a pivotal role. It's told mostly from their POV, with some snippets from the rest of the team. I loved seeing the dynamic between the two.

There was also something that occurred at the 90% mark that totally shocked me. O.o I agree that what happened was the right decision, but I admit that I got a little choked up about it.
It also seems that Victor has something in the making that's giving me major anxiety. It wasn't revealed what exactly is to go down, but whatever takes place involves Izabel, and Nora seems to be privy to it. As usual, I am left wanting so much more from everyone.

I'll keep my fan-girling to a minimum, but I just want to say, this is the absolute best, and has everything that I crave and adore in a book. These characters, this dangerous lifestyle, the writing...gah! I love them to pieces. I'm always highly anticipating the next book, and I hope it never ends.

Amazing. Phenomenal. Brilliant. Incredible. One of the best series there ever was. How this author can keep up with all the twists she's thrown, and come up with things that continue to shock me, I'll never know.

I don't even have words to write a proper review for this because I am still trying to process what the fuck I just read. I have wayyyyyyyyyyyy too many questions and I need the next book NOW!

Best series EVER!

5 loyalty is learned; love is organic stars

Holy shit. This book was everything I hoped it would be and more!

By the end of the book, here is how I felt about all of our favorite In the company of killers characters...

Izabel - She can do no wrong in my book. She is, and will always be, the most amazing heroine I have read about. I love her more and more every book!

Victor - Fuck him. He's dead to me.

Nora - She is still one crazy-ass bitch and there is nothing she can do or say to change my mind about this. She's literally unfeeling and I truly hope that Izabel doesn't become that.

Niklas - LOVE LOVE LOVE him. Niklas is the new Victor in my opinion. He is so much more of a complex character than any of the books let on and I completely found myself changing how I originally felt about him.

Fredrik - ::sigh:: he just needs love. that is all.

But seriously, this is hands down one of my favorite book series and I cannot WAIT for the next book!

5 Needing More Stars!
In typical JA Redmerski style she once again has us sitting on the edge of our seat reading and wondering what's going to happen. Has us racking our brain trying to figure out what Victor actually has on his mind. What his plan really is. Ugh!! I keep thinking to myself am I really ever going to know?? lol Fuck I hope so! I love this series! I was so glad that I read the first two books forever ago and then some how forgot about the series. Only to read books 3 and 4 recently. So everything was very fresh in my mind when I started this one.
I loved getting more of Niklas. Even though he's an asshole and often times a real dickhead we got to see that he also really does have a heart. My heart was beating really fast while the three of them were on their mission. I was amazed that Izzy held it together!
Of course we got a little bit of Fredrick also. Glad to see him back in the game.
I got really really sad around 90% when something I knew was probably going to happen but I was praying it wouldn't. I wanted that story dammit!! Then later I couldn't believe what was in the file that Victor was reading. It kind of made me angry and I honestly was no longer as sad. lol
Of course we get no more insight on Nora. If she can be trusted or not. I'm still not sure. All I know is she is one strong woman!
We are not left hanging on a cliff really. But of course we all know that it's not the end and you will be like me....waiting very impatiently for more!!!

Oh WOW!! This volume was incredibly thrilling! The entire time Niklas, Nora and Izabel were on their mission, I was on tenterhooks! I kept waiting for Izzy to mess up. There were so many instances where she showed how much she has grown and I am so glad for that because she didn't really impress me in the last book. But here she was a freaking star! In this book I was also able to fall for Niklas and I really hope that despite the acrimony between him and his brother, that they will find a way to get past the past and that Niklas will get his well-deserved HEA. Oh, and Nora was still a badass lol!!

*Buddy-review with *P*u*r*p*l*e* Masochist is posted on Way Too Hot Books.*

I can honestly say that with each new book In The Company of Killers series gets better and better. This series is dark, suspenseful, characters and relationships between them are so complex.

I wanted a book about Niklas since forever (okay, since book #1 – I was always curious about him and I thought there’s more to him than what he showed to the world). And now we finally got it and it was everything I wanted and more. If you’re already a fan of this series, and you approved of the direction things took in Seeds of Iniquity, you’re gonna love this!

Anyhow, this time around, the main story revolves around Niklas, Izabel and Nora, on a mission in Italy. I don’t want to spoil anything about that, I’ll just say it was exciting, gripping, bloody and just overall, amazing. After five books, I don’t doubt J. A. Redmerski; wherever she decided to go with the plot, I’m on board. This has become one of my favorite series, precisely because it’s unpredictable and unconventional.

This particular installment picks up where things left off in the last book – Niklas is hurt over Viktor’s betrayal and nowhere to be found; and Nora is the new addition to their Order. Since her introduction in the last book, I loved Nora. She’s so badass and great, and I only wish she had a bigger role in this book. (There’s a lot we don’t know about her yet, but I’m hoping it’ll be remedied in the next book.)

Furthermore, these characters are what do it for me in this series. Now, in the book #5 we feel like we know them (I’ve personally grown so attached to them), but in fact every one of them is hiding something and we’re on our toes to know everything about them.

Finally, the reason why this book was so bloody awesome is that ending! Whoa! What happens next is the big question. I was buddy-reading this with my dear Purple Masochist and we have SO many theories. Also, while she’s very against a love triangle, I can honestly say I wouldn’t mind it. But, I guess we shall see.

***
My favorite Killer in this part: Niklas, obviously.
My least favorite Killer in this part: I love them all.
I particularly liked: Niklas – Izabel dynamics.
I didn’t like the fact that there was so little of Nora. With Fredrik and Niklas, she’s my favorite character and I wish she had a bigger role.
I hope that the next book features more Fredrik. (I miss him!!)
Book #6 I want more than any other book right now! I’m both anxious and eager. Hurry up please, JA we’re dying here!

Niklas ♥

Wow. Wow. Wow! This series has the Best Badass Assassins. EVER. J.A. Redmerski surely slayed this and damn, straight five stars on five books?! YES. It totally exceeded my expectations and it's absolutely worth obsessing for.

description

The confession pulled off by Nora Kessler strained Niklas and Victor's relationship. Niklas remained loyal to Victor and remained as his shadow. He will do everything to protect his brother, just like the way he (Victor) protected him most of the time. His betrayal was unforgivable and it gutted him.

Setting it aside for a while, he's assigned in a mission along with Izabel and Nora (Niklas being a rich master, Izabel as a lover/slave and Nora as slave) to rescue Olivia Bram, and kidnap the head of the prestigious slavery den, Francesca Moretti. Throughout the mission, they are going to play different roles and must stick to it or else, they are not going out alive.

"Loyalty is learned; love is organic."

It's not as dark as the other books but the plot twist will keep you entertained and thrilled. I'm very impressed on how each character stands out in their own way. That undercover mission is pretty challenging and there are lots of triggering factors that might blow their cover, particularly Izabel. My heart really breaks to see her endure something that reminds of her troubled past but DAMN. Just like Nora Kessler, they remained impassive in the most difficult situation.

"I may hate him for what he did to Claire, your sister, but he's still my brother and I still watch his back. And nobody fucks my brother over but me. Nobody will have their vengeance on my brother for any wrong he's ever done, but me."

I never thought I would love Niklas Fleischer. Believe it or not, I wasn't into him unlike Victor Faust and Fredrik Gustavsson. i'm just not a fan of him on the previous books. However, his character development is awesome and he deserves the spotlight. Now, I just love The Black Wolf.

description

That ending REALLY makes me nervous for the 6th book and I don't have any predictions on what's going to happen. All I know is that: IT'S GOING TO GIVE ME A HEART ATTACK. I hope it's not the last book. I'm enjoying this one crazy bumpy ride.

I am a huge fan of this series and this author and I was really looking forward to Niklas Fleischer’s story but I was left somehow a bit let down by the time I reached the last page!!
I know most of the reviews so far have been 4 and 5 stars – maybe I missed something in this book!!!! I wanted to love it but ended up just kinda liking it…..

Apart from the beginning of the story….which is absolutely fabulous…Izabel & Nora on a mission is something to else….exciting, suspenseful and fabulicious…but from there onwards…..nothing amazing really happens!!!
Most of the time we spend with Niklas, Izabel and Nora on their mission to take down the evil Francesca Moretti in her Rome palazzo filled with evil sex buyers and abused sex slaves. With a few snippets of Viktor & Frederick, who are two of my favourite characters in this series…and of course Izabel!!!

I wanted to get to know the real Niklas…..yes, we know he’s broken by what Viktor did to his lover…but what else makes him tick????

The characters just didn’t move forward for me!!
And another pet peeve was ….how many times does Viktor take and place his hands in his trouser pockets!!!!!!

Despite my “grumbles”, I love this series and can’t wait for the next book. I just hope we get more depth of character and plot!!!

And yes, I simply loved the cover!!!!!

THE BLACK WOLF was nothing I could’ve ever expected, but everything I could ever hope for. It was completely engrossing, I stayed up until 5am reading, unable to let these characters go. JA Redmerski is a master of manipulating emotions, she can transmit powerful feelings with just a couple of words.

The story explores the good and bad side of human nature in the underground ring of crime. And yes, there are good sides. We meet a malevolent antagonist with vicious intentions, but we also get to see the light inside a character that seemed to be as hardened and merciless as any other killer. The plot is dark, fast paced, and action packed. The characters are distinct and compelling.

Izabel may be imperfect as a killer, but she’s a strong and beautiful character, her compassion and sense of justice shines through and through. I think those around her underestimate her too often. She might not be perfect in the sense of Nora, but she can certainly hold her own ground and get the job done, all while fighting an internal war, between the heart and the mind. To cling on to what makes her human, or abandon it to become a better operative?

“To be human means to always go with your heart. The moment you betray your heart is the moment you lose everything.”

I LOVE Niklas in this book. His presence is commanding. He’s a dominant, sexual, larger-than-life character. That kiss; I know I probably shouldn’t have liked it, but I did. A lot.

"I kiss her long and deep and hard until I feel like I’m running on the fringes of my emotions; they’re tearing away at me like hands in Hell reaching out for me as I leap over the flames, trying to pull me down with them into sin, and as hard as I try to get away, a part of me wants them to take me."

description

Niklas is officially my favorite character. He’s better than Victor. Yeah, you read that correctly (*dodges rocks pelted at me*). Now let me explain, he’s stubborn and crass, and yes, he’s an all around asshole, BUT he’s a sympathetic character. You can’t help but understand his suffering. He may be rough around the edges, but deep inside, Niklas is a vulnerable person. My heart ached for him. There were points that left me in complete and utter shock. Threads are unraveling, breaking...relationships shifting.

“To love someone means you have something in life to fight for, something to live for.”

In the Company of Killers is the best of dark suspense. It’s intense and gritty with unpredictable twists and turns. I never know what to expect next. There’s something wildly addictive about these books – in a twisted kind of way, I guess I crave these commanding, morally ambiguous characters.

If you like your suspense dark and anti-heroes darker, you’re going to love this series.

I NEED THIS BOOK ASAP

"I do whatever I want…because I’m my own person. And I’ll fight for whatever I need to make me whole. Whoever I need to make me whole."

J.A. Redmerski did it again! I'm speechless! Seriously, 'In the Company of Killers' is a mind-fucking series and I love it!! AND Niklas is now my favorite!

***
I dip my head toward her and slowly touch my lips to hers; my hand carefully wrapped about the side of her neck. I want to squeeze it, like I would any common whore like Jackie who I can fuck my aggressions out on, but I can’t. I can’t and I don’t know why. Instead, I slip my tongue into her mouth and find hers. And I can’t take it; I feel my lips slowly crushing against mouth as we drink in each other ’s breath. I want—need—to pull away, but I can’t do that either. I kiss her long and deep and hard until I feel like I’m running on the fringes of my emotions; they’re tearing away at me like hands in Hell reaching out for me as I leap over the flames, trying to pull me down with them into sin, and as hard as I try to get away, a part of me wants them to take me. I want to sin. I want to kiss her.
And so I do.
And I don’t stop.

That motherf!cking kiss! I never thought I wanted it to happen until it happened!? I can't believe it! I shouldn't like it, but IDGAF! I want more. Bring it on! I'm ready.

P.s.: And Fredrik gains another fan. It amuses me that almost every guy who meets him becomes fascinated by him. I can't say I blame them.

P.p.s.: I got this feeling that the serial killer Fredrik is going after is a woman.

FIRST THOUGHTS AFTER READING: WTF are you planning to do O.O

This review is posted on Way Too Hot Books.

After the brilliant previous installment- Seeds of Iniquity (ItCoK, #4) I was positive that there was no way I could love this book as much as I did that one, BUT I was wrong. Niklas was not among my favorite characters. As the matter of fact I was quite annoyed with him until the previous two books because of the *thing* he did in the 1st one and his rather superior/macho attitude, but now we all know the cold front he puts up is only an act and that he can be quite charming when he wants it and add to that very, very sexy. Together with Fredrik & Nora he is now without a doubt one of my fav characters in the series.

"Niklas wanted freedom; he has always wanted to be his own person, play by his own rules, live by his own standards, and not in the shoes or the shadows or beneath the gavel or the whip of anyone else."

The story was dark, gripping, action-packed, suspenseful and twisted with some unexpected and jaw-dropping twists as always. J. R. Redmerski keeps mindfucking us messing with our heads and in the best possible way. Our dearest rogue agents are at it again- on another undercover case in Italy trying to solve one of their most dangerous cases so far. The undercover trio was so bad-ass and the villian and her devious plans so fucked-up. I won't say anything else about the plot, except that it was spectacular.

And the ending? Oh. My...I'm still trying to process what had happened. I don't know what to think, what to feel and I definitely don't know what to expect from the next installment. I have billions theories of the possible outcomes, some of which I fear greatly and truely hope the author doesn't take the story in that direction. J. A. Redmerski, I trust your judgement, just DO NOT turn this into one of those melodramatic love triangles, I beg you!

All in all- I'm in love with this series! This is my 2nd favorite installment and my third 5 stars rating so far this year and damn well-deserved. I'll be crossing days until the next one.

“To be human means to always go with your heart. The moment you betray your heart is the moment you lose everything.”

Highly recommended to every fan of dark, romantic and suspenseful thrillers and fans of TV shows like Nikita. This series is a must-read!

Kitap, çok kısa.
Kapak, ölürüm.
Niklas, aşkım.

İşte okurken hissettiğim her şeyin özeti.

Gözlerim şu kısa kitapta, kesmedi beni n’apalım, Izabel’in o malum sırrının ifşa olmasını aradı durdu. Bu konuyla ilgili beklentim yüksekti doğrusu. Redmerski de bunun için ilk adımları attı. Bu meselenin ekip üzerinde etkisi nasıl olacak meraktan çıldırıyorum.

Serinin 6. kitabı Behind The Hands That Kill’i okumak için çıldırıyorum ama o da bitince ne yapacağım, inanın bilmiyorum.
description I believed him when he told me that night that he’d never do anything to cause me harm. I believed him with my whole life and my whole heart and my whole goddamned soul.
I believed him…

description “Stronger?” she says. “No, Izabel, it’s exactly the opposite. To love someone is to take on the responsibility of keeping them safe, of worrying about them. It’s just a burden.”
“Well, I think you’re wrong,” I say. “To love someone means you have something in life to fight for, something to live for—I guess you wouldn’t know, you’ve never felt love, so you can’t possibly understand.”

Okay, I'm just going to come out and say it: This is one of the BEST series out there and seriously needs to be optioned to have its own TV Series.

Phew. Not that I got that out of the way, I can start my review.

LOVED. LOVED. Loved this installment. The mission carried out in this one was definitely interesting (a man wants Victor's order to track down his daughter who was kidnapped by sex slave sellers, and kidnap the current person in charge of this organization, Francesca) and provided some deeper insight on some of the characters, but especially Niklas. At first, going into this, I was like ehh because Niklas has never been my favorite character, BUT as the story progressed I became more and more interested in his character and his past. I was extremely pleased with the character development in Niklas. And I was also pleased that by the end of the book, Niklas was in a good place, or at least a better one, about himself and also I think coming to terms with Victor's betrayal.

" I do whatever I want...because I'm my own person. And I'll fight for whatever I need to make me whole. Whoever I need to make me whole."

In conclusion, I was just left in awe after this installment and yearning for MORE. J.A. Redmerski just continues to prove her stellar writing abilities, and so I am super excited for the next book in this series! In the meantime... my poor nails will be gone (super anxious about what will happen next).

3.5 ⭐️

Way, way better than Seeds of Iniquity, but still, it feels like as the series goes ahead it tries too much in the dark and suspence side, resulted being just a little predictable and... cliché? Apart from the mission thing, the story itself never really moves forward as well as the characters. Also, the multi POV's didn't work well here (and by that I mean Fredrick's POV was pointless).

Still, I loved being inside Niklas head and Nora truly grew on me here (Izabel, on other hands is starting to get on my nerves) and the ending set up some intriguing things; Victor is definitely up to something, I just hope it won't turn out being what I fear .

Yazar niye Fredrik'i üzüyor bilmiyorum.

Kapak resmine ölünür! ♥️

So freaking good, I forgot how much I enjoyed this series!

"The Black Wolf" was highly entertaining, I absolutely loved Niklas in this book. Izabel, Nora and Niklas are a great team, I really enjoyed them working together.

I'm never going to get tired of J.A Redmerski writing, it captivates me the moment I start reading!

I seriously can't get enough of these characters , I even grew fond of Nora... I can feel her becoming my fave.
This book was a wild ride, give me the next book please!
