From the back "Death Must Die" gives an intimate first-hand account of a woman's spiritual quest in close association with several of India's greatest modern saints. Unfolding against the backdrop of Banaras in the 1940s, where she lived as a teacher and musician, we are given an in-depth picture of her intense relationship with the extraordinary woman who becomes her guru--Sri Anandamayee Ma.
Written like a good novel, this diary was never meant for publication and feels very authentic. You get the taste of a rich Jewess from the cream of Vienna who first discovers Theosophy, J Krishnamurty and the Avatara Anandamayi Ma. Ma comes through vividly in these notes but there is much more. There is a chapter on question and answers that ranks up there with Ramana's Talks.. The book is printed to high standards and feels very professional. Overall a wonderful package for lovers of the old India.
the journal of a european woman who finds her guru (anandamayee ma) in india back in the 40s. fascinating to see her process, but is also - kind of like my own spiritual journey - frustratingly slow at times.
