Because sometimes, the heroine might not need saving, but it sure is nice to have someone else to bear the weight of the world.
Bre Taylor has given built her life around serving the most vulnerable, particularly the dogs, cats (and occasional scaly friends) at Paws and Claws Animal Rescue. She doesn't accept help easily, but when her world starts crumbling around her, she'll find herself at a crossroads.
Hunter Banks made a fool of himself with Bre when he realized she'd given up her apartment to sleep on a moldy cot in the animal shelter office. A lawyer with somewhat of a "hero complex," he reacted poorly, and he's done his best to rectify the situation.
But when the waters Bre has been barely treading threaten to consume her, Hunter offers her an out. A marriage of convenience to help both of them, one with an escape route if she wants it. But as the days and weeks wear on, Bre finds herself in a place she never expected - falling in love with her husband. It should be perfect, but forces from the past and tragedy in their midst threaten the fragile thread binding them together, and it'll take faith, understanding, and love to keep them from falling apart.
This is a tender story of a marriage of convenience. I must admit that Bre seemed to have everything thrown at her at once. Hunter is definitely the hero here, but his gentle and compassionate heart was so endearing. Little Max and his trials added to the plot greatly; it gave Bre and Hunter a purpose to fight for together.
It is plot full of faith in God and the love and support of friends during trials. It is a blessing to know we are never alone when God is by our side. I was cheering for this little “found family” just like everyone else at the end. I enjoyed this addition to the series. I received a complimentary copy from the author and these are my voluntary and honest opinions. I was not required to leave a positive review.
As this series, Mountain Promise, continues, I find myself feeling as if I’m part of the family, whether by birth or by community. While each story is unique in itself, each one blends seamlessly into the next as you reconnect with familiar characters and meet the new additions who fit as if they had always been a part! Bre, Hunter, Max and the rest all add a dimension to culminate an ending so fitting, so perfect, not one thing is left wanting!
Hunter and Bre, what a beautiful pairing. It was a treat to read both throwback stories. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.I hope there are more books coming😊
