Be careful who you trust...

We all know the stories of affairs going wrong. They seem so simple until a third party is involved. The Chess Man is involved, carefully planning and enacting games for his victims. The rules for this game are simple: kill or be killed. The winner gets out alive.

Will Emily spare Brent or kill him?

I would live to see another follow up tale of what happens next. I feel like there could be another exciting story as a sort of sequel involving the survivor and the Chess Man. The open ending allowed for it in my opinion.

“Bedtime Tales of Horror: The Chess Man” by Bradley Poage will creep you out. I cannot understand how one man can envision so many unique and disgusting ways to present horror to an innocent reader, but that’s exactly what Bradley does every time he submits another Bedtime Tale for our reading pleasure.

“The Chess Man” is precisely what his name implies: careful, steady, always a few steps ahead of the competition. He plans every move, and considers every possible outcome. He knows exactly how to respond to whatever move his opponent makes.

But his game is not played on a board with little plastic pieces. When you play with The Chess Man, you won’t get a rematch.

You know, there are some seriously sick people out there, and Poage has included quite a few of them in his stories. “The Chess Man” is no exception.

Diabolical

Emily realizes that she would rather be with a winner, however she may only be safe for NOW. What she fails to realize is that chances are, since Andy stays "a step ahead", she has no idea when he is going to seek revenge for her indiscretions. Ahhh, won't that be sweet. After all Andy is the "Chess-Man Assassin".

This horror story is also a thriller in my opinion. its wonderfully written, and as any of bradley's stories I felt pulled in. This woman has an affair and her husband finds out. The "trap" was set perfectly they didn't realize when they woke up the chess man had other plans. Great story!

What's that saying about feeding the wolf inside us all? The big bad wolf inside the chess man is clearly hungry for a show down of gruesome evil, but who will play along? Who has a big bad wolf snarling inside them? A very fun short.
