Bentley Celeste is a witty, foul mouthed, reclusive, dark romance writer. She lives her life in solitude, hiding from her painful past and the one person hell bent on destroying her future. She doesn't have time for relationships and has no interest in allowing anyone but her best friend into her private little sanctuary.

Tristan Reece is sultry, sexy, and jaded. He also happens to be the cover model for Bentley's long time acquaintance, Electra. He believes everyone who he loves is going to betray him, and then walk away. Though he carries the reputation of a ladies man, Tristan prefers to keep his heart and his bed empty.

A chance meeting blind sides Bentley as she's nearly trampled by the giant wall of muscle that is Tristan. Tempers aren't the only thing to fly. Bentley may not have any interest in Tristan, but after getting his ass handed to him through a verbal assault, he can't forget the tiny Spitfire that sparks more than just his fury.

Both are stubborn, with the will to fight against each other until the very end. Will Tristan's determination be enough to fight the demons lingering in Bentley's shadow? Or is Bentley's fear strong enough to tear them apart.

Warning: This book is intended for 18+ due to strong language, violent scenarios, and sexual content.

When I was asked to read this book I had no idea what what I was getting myself into. I always like to give new authors a try and am so glad I did. This debut book by Arie Lane, is unlike anything I have read before. It is set the Indie book world. The heroine, Bentley, is an author and the hero, Tryst, is a cover model. For a new author Ms. Lane has developed a unique and enjoyable writing style. Her characters are flawed but realistic and they are quite lovable. I think I read perhaps, the best line of the year in this book when Bentley was yelling at her best friend Dante. I won't share it but, you will know it when you see it. I may forever snicker when I hear the word glitter.

The sexual tension and banter between Tristan and Bentley is terrific. At first, they seem to be an unlikely pair but readers know that those characters make the best stories. To say Bentley has had an awful childhood would be an understatement. Tristan's upbringing was also painful but not nearly as perilous as Bentley's. The spark is immediate, though both try to fight the attraction, Bentley more so than Tristan. Besides the hot sensual story there is a suspense storyline that will tear at the reader's heart. Bentley's mother is perhaps the most dysfunctional mother I have ever encountered in my years of reading. Bentley had to run and hide from her to save herself. Her only friend being her childhood friend, Dante.

This book has a lot going for it, parts are funny as hell, parts are sad, and others are suspenseful. The sex is sizzling and the banter between characters is creative. However, the past may destroy what the couple has going for them. Be warned that it does end in a cliffhanger but book two is in the works and looks to be just as creative as the first. I cannot wait to see how this story plays out.

***Received an ARC for an honest review by Bookalicious Babes Blog***

Tryst, Arie Lane's debut book, is one of the hottest and funniest books I've ever read! This story makes you pee-your-pants laugh and is wet-your-panties hot!

Tryst is funny, witty, entertaining, hot, and a bit scary. This book is a breath of fresh air...an easy read that flows well with descriptive words that 'jump off the page.' This story takes you through the lives of Bentley and Tristan, and is narrated by them in alternating viewpoints (my favorite!) so it feels as if they are talking to the reader and one can easily grasp the characters' thoughts.

Bentley, an author of erotic-thriller romances, meets Tristan, a book cover model and more at one of her book signing events. From their initial meeting, the banter between them is oh-so-sexy and hilarious! Tristan literally almost knocks Bentley over and he is not prepared from what comes out of this hot fireball's mouth:

"You know, if you weren't so busy checking if your life-sized Barbie has hit puberty and if her tits are plastic or not, you might have noticed it wasn't a damn wall you just tried to dry hump. Hell, if I wore high heels, I might even be tempted to bitch-slap him with one of them."

Shocked at first by this petite beauty's dirty mouth, Tristan dishes a hot and hilarious retort back to Bentley:

"You are rather tiny, or maybe I should call you fun-sized. I could definitely see myself having some fun with you. I mean you're pretty hot in a naughty librarian kind of way. You know, the kind with the nerdy glasses and hair in a bun, but once you take them away you're left with a pretty face and a body you could bang for hours."

Bentley, while shocked herself, doesn't let Tristan's insult mixed with turn-on talk slide:

"Well naughty librarian or not, you're the last thing I'd be banging. I bet you aren't banging much of anything. Judging from your body mass, I'm betting you're overcompensating with all of those muscles. I'll wager the muscle your sporting below your belt probably isn't big enough to accommodate even my fun-size, as you put it."

Bentley, as a result of a tortuous childhood and a psycho mother from hell, has isolated herself a bit from the world and a date is the last thing on her mind. But Tristan is tall, muscular, sexy, funny, witty, tattooed and sweet...the whole package...can you say hotter than sin?!?

Tristan has crawled under Bentley's skin and she's irked. Her anger in the story is my amusement:

"I'm so infuriated with myself for allowing that asshat to get under my skin. First, he tries to grind my ass into the tiled floor, and then decides to try and make my breast his next meal...what the [frick] do I look like, KFC?

Used to women throwing themselves at his feet and one-night stands, Tristan can't walk away from the captivating petite beauty who spits fire at him yet makes him burn with desire.

"Yeah, I know if might sound conceited, but that little ball of sunshine will be mine--it's just a matter of when and where."

Bentley doesn't want to let Tristan affect her, but he is slowing breaking down her barrier. She is scared yet turned on by this alpha man who wants to protect her from the danger that continues to lurk around the corner.

"The man is one very sexy enigma. That I'll admit, even if it's only to myself. The man has a body that would driven even a nun into a frenzy."

Tristan wants this sassy, sexy, and sweet woman who has captivated him... captured his heart...and set his body on fire. However, Bentley still struggles with demons that haunt her from a tragic past. Tristan still pursues her relentlessly until she's had enough and decides she's done hiding from life...from men...from romance...from happiness.

Done with fighting the sexual tension and building love between him, Bentley relents to this amazing man...her knight in shining armor...who has her feeling emotions that she's never felt before.

"I feel something strange between us, a magnetic force that pulls me to him."

Once they connect, the chemistry is as hot as Bentley and Tristan's dirty-talking mouths. Swoon!

"She isn't just under my skin. She is embedded so deep inside of me that I don't know that I'd survive losing her."

But there is that pesky past again that just can't leave this couple alone. Then...BOOM! Cliffhanger!

Great debut novel by Arie Lane! I can't wait for more!

5 sexy stars!

I was not quite sure what to expect from this book being the author's first book. I can't imagine having such an evil and nasty mother like Bentley had to endure. No child should ever have to go through abuse at all but what made it completely incomprehensible is that it was her mother doing the abusing. A mother should be there to love, protect and take care of her child/ren.

Bentley did the smart thing and left home to find somewhere faraway to start fresh, away from her hateful mother. Her mother wanted her dead and had the chance but was unable to finish what she had started.

Bentley is an author who goes to author signings to meet and greet her fans but tries her best to keep it under wraps so her mother is unable to locate her. At one signing she attends a very attractive man bumps into her and their banter is quite entertaining. He is the cover model for one of her friends, who also is an author.

Tristan the cover model is attracted to Bentley but it seems more so because she carries the facade that she is completely uninterested in him. They both have secrets from their pasts that they would like to forget and don't care to share them with others. But there comes a time that they need to begin to trust someone with their pasts in order to hopefully fix what is broken or somehow learn to move forward.

This is a must read even though there are very dark horrible events that shape the characters lives. You will be on an emotional journey especially with Bentley, after learning what she has endured but you will also see some good things. She is a very strong and no nonsense kind of woman. Tristan is a very strong and cocky hot guy who knows what he wants and go after it. Their encounters often end with Tristan doing something to piss her off but the bantering will have you laughing.

Can't wait for next book!

My Rating:
3.5

Favorite Quotes:

“I’m wondering… do you have a talent for pissing women off enough that they want to castrate you with rusted scissors, or am I just special?”

“What, there aren’t enough other women here to tickle your pickle?”

“Definitely don’t try to serenade her, because I heard you singing while unloading the truck. You sound worse than a tone deaf drag queen trying to sing Whitney Houston.”

“You okay, baby doll? You came in here looking like someone ran over your dog then tossed it back in your yard.”

My Review:

Arg. I had a difficult time deciding how to rate this book. It was not at all what I was expecting. It had some really funny lines which are always a plus, but the melodrama was so over the top and over-wrought, that it was painful to read at times. I almost gave up on the book in the beginning as the first 20% was rather intense with recounting instances of torture and memory of abuse and humiliation, but as I kept reading it became clearer. Another plus, the sensual scenes were smokin’ hawt, but damn, it ends in an evil and nasty cliffhanger, and I just despise those, and there was no indication that this was to be a series… I am bummed and now looking forward to reading lighter fare after this one. Don’t get me wrong, Ms. Lane has skills, I just wish this story had utilized more of her humor and less of her angst.

Iread the prologue of this book in a release party Arie attended and I was so excited about it! I thought it sounded amazing! Then I read the blurb and I was slightly confused because it made it sound like a YA book set in high school or just out of, but I was still on board. Then I read the book. It had some serious editing issues, but I was still enjoying it. Bentley and Tryst have some great chemistry, but if they aren't having sex then they are just volatile and mean to each other, and I was not so fond of the insults they threw at each other. I get that Bentley had an extremely traumatic childhood, but it seemed like they wanted to hate each other then even be friends let alone lovers. I still enjoyed the story line though. The fail for me though was that it's a serial. It was a rather long book and that would have been ok if it wrapped up in one book. Overall it was a pretty good book, depending on how long it takes for the next one and if the editing is better, I'm undecided if I'll buy the next or not.

Five stars Sexy!!!

I had this baby pre-ordered for months, it seemed. That's a lot of hype to live up to, in my world. I am not a patient person! But, It was well worth the wait.

Knowing what I know about the Indie author world, this book seemed like a little bit of undercover expose' for me, and I LOVED it! The characters were strong, Hell, Bentley is VERY strong at times. The writing was very descriptive, offering a finely painted canvas background to explain what has gotten her to the point she's at. (It wasn't a pretty picture, but it was hers.)

Her foil in the book is Tristan. He's the light to her dark, the punching bag to her mouth (which he loves, btw), and perhaps just the thing to break her from her shell and get her to actually live the life she's been hiding from.

The sex was hot. The book was hot. But, there was a nice balance between steam and humor. The book was very funny in places. Let's just say Bentley earned her nickname, spitfire.

This is a new author, and one i'm definitely glad I gave a chance.

was given this arc to read for an honest review...

And boy am i glad that i was given it! this is 5***** plus some all the way for me.

Its based on a girl Bentley, who is an author, and the boy Tristan who is a cover model..

They meet at an author signing... and thats where this story begins...

This is Arie Lane's first book, and let me tell you its a good one! She takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions... and i love this storyline, it keeps you hooked from beginning to end... well cliffy ending... and i don't really like cliffy endings unless the next book is out, but i am so stoked that i got to read this book.

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, or bed, or sofa...or wherever you read, and you will want to keep reading it...

So when i comes out...don't forget to one click it...

OH MY GOODNESS!! PLEASE GO OUT AND BUY THIS BOOK AND READ IT!!!

This is the story of Bentley and Tristan - two broken people who have a past that they both are trying to overcome that happen to meet by chance. When they are connected together, they are no longer broken - they are made whole, made right. It's as if they have been trying to find one another their whole lives to be shown what true love is!

description

This is the debut book for author Arie Lane and it does not disappoint! If you love witty banter, twists and turns that come out of nowhere, a strong independent heroine who runs from the past and a hot as sin alpha male who has his own demons chasing him - you are in for one hell of a treat!

Bentley Celeste is a romance author who is on hiatus from the world due to a very dark and disturbing past. She has ran from the past for as long as she can remember and kept herself shut off from the outside world due to fear. An old friend of her sister's asks her to come to an author event and she obliges, but she is nervous as hell! And you can totally see it as the scenes unfold! Bentley does not expect to get her world turned upside by Tristan Reece, the delectable cover model who is cocky as hell!

Neither Bentley nor Tristan realize what this chance encounter will do to the rest of their lives. Tristan pushes Bentley's buttons in a way that no other person has in a long time. She can't believe all the foul mouth statements that she voices as she talks to him and why he seems to get under her skin so quickly. Tristan doesn't understand why he is drawn to this "fun-size" woman who clearly hates his guts. But he takes a chance and moves over 800 miles to be near her due to Bentley's past rearing its ugly head at the event. Bentley tries to fight their connection, but fate seems to wiggle its way in and shines a little light on the couple.

As the story unfolds, you watch the characters struggle with their past, insecurities and faults. You watch them develop the relationship as well as mature as characters throughout the situations. The emotional roller coaster hits on every stop in this book as well - love, happiness, frustration, anger, sadness, pain, etc. But these are all emotions that real couples go through because nothing is perfect - it's REAL love.

Real love is about finding the one who will compliment you as a person and who cherishes you. Real love is about taking a journey with another person to find true happiness. It is something that takes effort and dedication on a daily basis in order to be successful. There are times that will be difficult, but it is about how you handle those difficult times to see if it is real love.

As the couple begins to realize they do truly love each other and have found that one person who makes them whole, the past seems to come back to bite them in the ass and create one more hurdle for them to endure. However, this hurdle is one of the biggest they both will have to face. Its the one person that Bentley has always been scared of and has never fought back against. Its also the one person who she has always tried to get to love her with no avail. How do you overcome the gut-wrenching, all-consuming fear that this person evokes? Bentley believes she has to run, but Tristan thinks they have to stand together and face it head on!

Now this book does end in a cliffhanger - but the second book is released in April! I do not usually read cliffhangers, but I believe this book ends at a great point. Their journey has been a roller coaster so far and they both still have secrets and fears that are dominating life. We had to expect at some point that the past would catch up to them - that's life. And finally it did - in an extreme way. A lot of times these situations cause crossroads in our path and we have to decide which road to take. I think this is why its perfect. The cliffhanger leaves us at a crossroad!

First off I just have to say Woah!! Tryst is an awesome book!! I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into.. all I knew about the book was it had a strong female lead and I love a strong chick in a story!

I think strong is an understatement when it comes to Bentley!! She is super tough! She definitely doesn't take crap from anyone & I mean anyone!

When the book first starts you see all the torture and hellish things Bentley has to endure.. from that moment I wanted Bentley to have a happy ending. I felt soo sorry for her.. she is so broken!

Then here comes Tristan.. her knight in shining armor who Bentley sees as a Douche in tin foil!

The dynamic & sexual tension between these two are amazing!! Half of the book you are laughing your butt off because of the stuff Bentley says... the other have you need a shower after the steamy scenes!

Arie Lane does an amazing job at making you feel like you are in that world.. makes you wanna cry with Bentley .. or fan your face with the scenes between her & Tryst.

Love this book! Can't wait for the next book!! Dying to find out what happens!!

Tryst has a little bit of everything!

I want a cover model all my own.

Tryst is hot, sexy and picture perfect on the outside. Bentley is not. She's studious, determined, but a shell of a person. She's suffered loss, abuse, and neglect in her childhood, and It's shaped her into the recluse she has become. That is, until she meets HIM. He turns her world upside down, and gives fodder to very sharp tongue. She's rough with him, testing him with her verbal assaults, trying to keep him at a distance. But, he'll have none of it. He wants the good and theban... he'll take all of her. If only she'll get past her own hang-ups and let him.

It's quite a ride in Aerie Lane's TRYST, but one that is worth the read, and emotional investment. I can see myself picking this book up again at some point and giving it another go. Bentley's tongue lashings are too funny not to.

Arie Lane has a hit on her hands with her debut novel..Bentley Celeste has been hiding under her pen name from a mother who gives new meaning to the words Mommy Dearest!!!!! Tristan is a cover model and is Sexy as Sin,and when these two run into each other ( Literally) sparks fly, well from Bentley's mouth anyway!!! She is snarky and a spitfire!!! And that's exactly what Tristan calls her...Tristan also has not had the best childhood and together these two learn to open up and experience the meaning of True Love...With an array of side characters you'll love and hate, you definitely don't want to miss out on this gem!! Word of warning though,it does end in a cliffhanger, but all the more reason to get the next book to see how their journey ends...

I tried and tried but just couldn't finish this book. It didn't help that I started to other infinitely more beautifully written books at the same time, one of which was The Return by Jen Armentrout. So I had that comparison to how I like a book to make me feel... And realised this was not for me. I didn't like the characters and everyone was just so angry all the time. I didn't believe in the relationship either, it just wasn't built up enough for me. I need a bit more description in my books to help the flow. But there's not a lot of that. Hell I don't even know what town this is set in. Sadly this one wasn't for me.

What a page turner this book is really better than I thought it would be. Bentley has so many layers to her you can't help but fall in love with you and relate to her in many ways. Bentley and Tristan are both trying to get over some past hurts and problems. Tristan pushes Bentley's buttons in a way that no other person has in a long time. They really don't understand why they are each drawn to each other.

The author does a great job with the characters and the over story. I will be checking out the 2nd book.

I was given this book as an ARC and agreed to give an honest review.

Such an amazing book!! This is not a typical run of the mill romance novel. Arie Lane throws all kinds of weird and unique curves in this book. And the banter between the two main characters is nothing short of hilarious. Very, very good book, I will highly recommend it to others and look forward to reading the second in the series!!!

Holy shit, the shit that Bentley endured was horrifying and to make matters worse was it was from her own mother (the devil). Seriously her mother was the Devil. Tryst was strong, stubborn and arrogant to say the least. Bentley was strong, protective and sheltered. She did what she had to do to perfect herself. This book was funny, heartbreaking and sexy as sin. Great read but warning there is a cliffhanger. Ugh...I hate cliff hangers!! Excited to see what book 2 will have to offer.

This book shocked me; there are just no other words for this feeling other than shocked. I expected an erotic romance, they meet at a book signing, and she will be a spit fire and show her anger towards any man due to her past. I figured Tryst would be the man whore who knew he could get into any woman’s pants in 2.4 seconds of flashing a smile, but was I ever wrong. The author ripped my heart out with this one and I am so glad to see a story that shows not all women are born with the ability to be a mother. The author has weaved a story that is so deep in emotions and thoughts, it would be impossible for a reader to walk away unaffected.

You can’t even say Bentley had a troubled childhood, she had NO childhood. Being born with a twin sister has its challenges alone, but if that twin is beautiful and you are average it makes things a bit worse. Bentley’s nightmare doesn’t stop there, let’s add the fact her mother hated and abused her, while showering her sister with love because she was going to be a top model that was until her sister disappears. Bentley gets out of town as fast as she can and becomes a successful author of books with kinky sex and killing men who deserve it. This is how she deals with the anger from the abuse and losing her sister. When she runs quite literally into Tryst, let’s just say there were fireworks but not chemistry. She detested his behavior and he loved her breasts.

Tryst isn’t your average sexy man, he has a lot of loss and baggage he is dealing with, and along with nightmares he still suffers from his days in the military. What I love about Tryst is he knows when he had messed up, he tries to do what is right by Bentley, he knows there are a ton of pieces behind that mask of anger and hard hitting jab, but he sees the little broken girl inside and is determined to love her back to life, if she will let him.

Now the thing that shocked me was this isn’t a romance story first, it is a story of survival, recovering and trying to find the person who you were meant to be before life, war, loss and evilness invaded your world. The author shows us how life really does shape a young person and creates this broken soul that is expected to function perfectly in society. The author gave us suspense, drama, heart wrenching memories of what they had overcome. She infused the story with humor, sarcasm, tears, terror and hope. She showed not only the side of the victim of extreme abuse, she showed the story of the man who loves her and wants nothing more than to figure out the map to create her peace of mind. The author gives us a story of what evil can destroy and what love can rebuild.

No this wasn’t a story of just romance, this was a story of LOVE, unconditional, sacrifice everything you have kind of love. She doesn’t hide the mistakes both Bentley and Tryst make as they find their life together. She amazed me because when you first start reading you connect to this hurt young woman as she describes what her mother has done to her. Then chapter one starts and BAM you find this fire cracker that would scare most men. She can knock a man into the fetal position in no time, then crumble and need someone to pick her up and help her hold it together. She is a wide range of emotions and it is hard for the reader not to get caught up in the vortex. I highly recommend this book; I doubt you will forget these two after you read their story.

I decided to buy this book because I did a promo post on my blog page, and, even though the cover was meh, I thought I’d give it a try. When I read the title, I took it to mean tryst, as in a sexual rendezvous. I didn’t realize it was the guy’s shortened name. Not that this really matters, but I thought I’d clarify that for anyone who might have the same misconception. This was something that was my bad and is irrelevant in regards to my rating.

I gave this book 3 stars because it seriously needed an outline and bipolar meds for the characters. The editing wasn’t great, but it wasn’t horrible either, so it didn’t really play into my rating much. What I had a hard time with were the inconsistencies. At one point, Tristan acts as if he is too lost to put two and two together in regards to Bentley being a twin who lost her sister, but at another point a couple of pages further, he recalls all of this stuff about what the sister’s friend told him about the both of them. Another example is where in Tristan’s POV he says he hasn’t seen Bentley in three days, yet when it switches to Bentley’s POV (which is supposed to be during the day as Tristan’s), she recalls their last encounter as being from the night before. There was also a lack of good distinction between skips in time. That may not bother some readers, but it’s a peeve of mine. I’d like more than just a skip to the next paragraph to indicate a span of several days has been skipped over. I think some of these issues could have been avoided if the author had written out a detailed outline of the story to keep things better organized. That might have also helped a whole section from the prologue from being repeated further in the book.

As far as the bipolar meds… These characters were so moody and all over the place it made my head hurt. One minute Bentley is trying to demolish Tristan’s balls for supposedly assaulting her, and the next she is straddling his lap, consumed by lust that came out of nowhere. They both go from one extreme to the next and blow up on each other and say the wrong things over and over again. It was a bit over the top. As was Bentley’s mother continually getting out of going to jail for the stuff she did to Bentley. I realize it was a huge part of the story/conflict, but it was a bit much and got to be unbelievable.

I hate that it feels like I’m really ripping into the book, but there was just a lot going on that affected my enjoyment of it, and I feel I should mention these things in a review. I gave it 3 stars instead of a lower rating because I didn’t hate the book. However, I can’t say for sure at this point whether I will pick up the next book or not. I’d like to see where the story goes, but I hope for more organization and better editing and proofreading from the author before its release.

**2 Warnings to End the Review**
1. There is a cliffhanger.
2. The language and the unmentionable things done to Bentley are not for the sensitive or faint of heart. They are horribly graphic and disturbing (though Bentley’s mouth was sometimes quite humorous if you don’t mind foul language and excessive use of the “f” word).

Things I liked:

Book was free with kindle unlimited.
Dialogue between MCs in the beginning was sassy, strong and entertaining!!! Loved their first interactions!
The heroine Bentley knows how to kick ass... Or should I say balls!

Things I'm not so sure about:

Even though it was far from insta love, the H Tryst moves cross country to protect Bentley (who had yet to even give him the time of day)... Let me just throw all my belongings in a moving truck, drive two days and buy a house that just so randomly happens to be available right across the street from Bentley, a girl who has only said shitty things to me and shut down all encounters whether they be physical, sexual or emotional. Eh, whatevs, moving on. They had to get in the same town somehow I guess.

Most stories need some sort of villain obviously and even though the psyco mom is a rare one (some props on that) I don't know that as a reader it ever made sense. Yes, we get an explanation as to why and the lady is definitely off her rocker but something about it didn't seem believable. Not that I can ever really understand what motivates the crazy vicious in someone but I don't know how else to put it. For me, the development and understanding of the villain and their motives in a story is just as important as the development of the MCs. I need more than a mental breakdown because she didn't want twins...

The only other thing that kinda bothered me is the missing time. No, I don't need the play by play of every minute of the MCs every single day but one paragraph would end with them having a great date or great sex or an argument and then the next paragraph would start with usually Tryst being upset about 2 or 4 days passing without any communication... Did they not have each other's numbers... Did they not live across the street from each other... I don't understand and it would pull me out of the story making me think I missed something because it would pick up so randomly from one paragraph to the next.

Oh and there is a cliffhanger!!!

Overall, would I recommend it? Yes, if you have kindle unlimited.
Will I read the next one? Not sure yet. It ended on a fairly big cliffy which should leave me as a reader salivating for the next book but in reality I'm left annoyed that there is another book when I thought I was reading a standalone. So, I'm not saying I won't, but I'm not saying I will. (Maybe I can just read the part where the crazy mom will get what's coming to her!)

I will say, I wish more authors would write about strong female characters that can kick ass and talk dirty but also have that breakable and vulnerable side to them. That was very well done.

I won this debut book in a giveaway from the author. I am always excited to read " new blood", and I sure wasn't disapointed.
Bentley Celeste is an erotic, & dark romance author who hides from the world due to a very dark and disturbing past. She has a mother who hates her. Always has, always will. In fact, if Darla Celeste could find Bentley, it could be the end for her. She has been trying to kill her since before she was even born. Darla did not want twins, and put her all into Cora ( the pretty one) her ticket to grandeur on the heels of Cora's modeling career.
Bentley and Cora are twins, ( albeit completely opposite) Cora, thin and willowy..Bentley is short and curvy and has suffered her mothers wrath, both verbally & physically all of her life which left scars inside as well as outside for Bentley. It's left her a very broken girl who has no idea how it feels to be loved. She lives a solitary life, alone with some very dark secrets, with very few people within her small circle....Then one day she her life is turned upside down when she is almost literally walked over by cover model Tristan Reece. ...Tryst isn’t your average man candy, he has a lot of his own baggage & secrets He is dealing with, including nightmares he still suffers from his stint in the military. He has a face and body that lets him have his way. That is until Bentley goes all hell fire missle on him. She has zero tollerance for that crap, and just wait until you find out why! This chick just can't catch a break in this horrendance life she is forced to live. ... At the same time I was feeling bad for Tryst. The poor guy just can't seem to do anything right where Bentley is concerned. He starts out with the best of intentions and I get my hopes up for them,... they really are magic together, then, ...you know those secrets and stuff I was telling you about? Yeah, one of those happens...... and, well, ..... I'm still routing for them...
The characters are all well developed, and true to life like which really made this an emotional read for me. The twists, turns, surprise and secrets kept me off balance right through to the cliffhanger. I am so going to read the conclusion of this story. I was actually glad it wasn't over yet and had more to come!

What is it like to be a twin? What if your twin hates you? What it your twin dies, murdered really, and never recovered? These aren't just questions for Bentley, they are her reality. Bentley and her twin Cora were polar opposites. Her mother adored Cora, and loathed her. She verbally and physically abused Bentley all throughout her childhood, while Cora was her shining star. Later, when Cora disappears and ultimately declared dead, her mother's abuse turns deadly. Bentley leaves town with her best friend Dante. Vowing never to return to her hometown.

Six years have passed, and Bentley is in town for a book signing that Cora's best friend, Elektra, asked her to do. When she checks into the local hotel, Bentley runs into Tristan, who happens to be Elektra’s cover model, he's a total ass. Bentley scurries to Elektra's room, where she and Tristan run into each other again. Here he begins to learn Bentley's story, and her connection to Elektra. Bentley's mother makes threats at the book signing, so Tristan takes it upon himself to be her personal protector, and maybe just lure her into his bed in the meantime.

Arie has written and excellent blend of love story and suspense. Even though there are some really hot sex scenes, that's exactly what this book is, a love story. Bentley learning to love herself and allowing someone else to love her as well. Bentley's character is well developed, as we knew her history, well most of it, from the prologue. Hopefully we will get a little better understanding of Tristan in the next book.

If you are a fan of crime/suspense and love stories, this is right up your alley. I can't wait for the next book to see Bentley get her Happily Ever After, if anyone deserves it, it's her. Tristan is a bit of an enigma, so I'm hoping for more insight on him in the future. I'd recommend this book to anyone wanting a fast paced, action filled, steamy book. Warning: if you don't like cliffhangers, skip this one.

Bentley is an author who has had to deal with an abusive mother her entire life. Bentley has done her best in her adult life to keep her mother from finding and killing her. At one of her signings she quite literally bumps into a friend of hers cover model and though the attraction is immediate her distaste is also quite strong from their very first meeting. Tristan knows the moment he bumps into Bentley that she is different and he makes it his mission to get to know her. When Tristan discovers that Bentley’s mother is out for blood he packs up his entire life and moves across the street from Bentley to act as her bodyguard – will also trying to worm his way into her heart.

This is an emotional read – the things Bentley has had to deal with are sad. I really enjoyed the journey – its’ very well written. I love the banter between Tristan and Bentley. I’m giving this a 4 star instead of a 5 star because I jus couldn’t get over Tristan packing up and moving across the country for Bentley after only having known her for like 2 days. It just wasn’t believable in my mind and I couldn’t stop thinking about it as I read on – and then Bentley didn’t even question it when he shows up at her door. It was just a bit farfetched to me but besides that it was a great read!

We meet Bentley and Tryst at an author signing in Bentley’s hometown. She’s short and curvy and a mouth on her that would cause a navy guy to blush to his roots. Tryst is a cover model for one of the authors at the signing and he thinks he’s the gift placed on this Earth for women. To say that he rubs her the wrong way would be an understatement. To say that she intrigues him would be even more of one. There’s a lot that I could say, but since there is a second book, I won’t put it here. What I will say is this. Some parts of this book had me laughing like a braying donkey. I wished I could say that I enjoyed this book more than I did, but I couldn’t get as into it as I would have liked. I didn’t find the characters that likeable. Well, I didn’t find Tryst that likeable and frankly, I think his behavior bordered on that of someone who should be in prison rather than someone to reward with sex and love. He’s brash and assuming and though Bentley made it ABUNDANTLY clear (as in literally kicking his butt), he still persisted. He moved across the street from her after having met her over a single weekend. Yeah….just no.
Ms. Lane’s debut book, offers a lot of promise, and though I felt that this particular book didn’t meet up to it, I would by far, not discount her as an author to follow. I do see a lot of potential in her and do look forward to seeing what she puts out there in the future. So would I recommend...(https://textuallove.wordpress.com/201... the rest of the review behind the link.

Let me first say that I thought I could get creative when I would be swearing and ranting, but nothing can top some of the shit that Bentley says had me spitting out my drink or about pissing myself laughing. I bow down to the queen of the put downs.

Tryst is not what I thought it would be when I started to read it and yes I did read the blurb obviously. It is actually darker than I originally thought and the way that we are left hanging at the end made me throw my kindle in frustration. Yes it is a cliff hanger, I am warning you about it because by the time you reach the end you don’t want it to end. This isn’t an easy story to read at times, it is painful and heart wrenching when you learn about Bentley’s past and what she has survived. Tristian, or Tryst, is a cover model and while he has this reputation as a man whore he is anything but. He sees something in Bentley that has him risking his balls and the ability to have children in the future just to spend some time with her. I loved how he didn’t back down from her even when most men would have had their balls shrivel from being verbally castrated.

I hope that the next book is released soon because I want more of Bentley and Tristian, not only for her creative verbal assaults but because her story is one that has been filled with so much pain that I hope she finally finds some peace and happiness.

This is a great debut novel by Author Arie Lane. The book pulls you in right from the prologue and it doesn't stop. Part suspense, part mystery, part comedy, totally hot, and definitely swoon worthy, this book offers a little something for every romance reader!

Bentley Celeste is an author living a life in hiding under a pen name. She hides from her past, from the fear her mother instilled in her, fear of knowing her mother is still out there wanting to finish what she started. Bentley's mother has always hated her, never wanted her, and tried to kill her more than once. Stepping out and attending an author event in her home town by the request of a friend, her life is turned upside down when she is literally bumped into by Tristan Reece.

Tristan Reece cannot believe the spitfire he has run into. Or how badly he wants to get her underneath him. But more than that, the more he learns about her, the more he realizes, one night with her is not going to be enough.

As the story continues and secrets unfold I was glued to my kindle wondering what would happen next. I loved watching the romance between Bentley and Tryst bloom, how they pushed and pulled each other and matched each other in unexpected ways. The way they began to grow together and rely on each other.

I expect many great things from Arie Lane and can't wait for the next book Rendezvous!

A love/hate/love story

Arie does a great job with the characters and bringing them to life. look forward to more books by her. Great job Arie!
The main characters are Tristan and Bentley. Bentley has had way more then her share of betrayal, hurt, disappointment, and torcher.. her world gets flipped when she runs into a sexy, cocky, book model who is real yummy named Tristan. Never thinking it could happen Tristan feels an instant attraction love at first site.
Bentley has definitely been dealt a crap hand for life with her monstrous mother so finding, knowing or feeling love has never been a option for her but then you have Tristan who is bound and determined to make a lasting last imprint on her heart... great story does end on a cliffhanger but definitely a good read

Tryst is the first in a series by Arie Lane,
As a friendly warning to anyone who dislikes cliff-hangers, this novel will end with a massive one. However the story is certainly worth it. I found I just couldn’t put this book down I was constantly drawn in by the female lead who due to very rarely dealing with people socially has developed a filthy mouth and has absolutely no filter for it, I was literally in stiches by some of her one-liners.
And while this did provide a lot of comedic relief Lane still managed to give her characters depth with the background behind Bentley which leads to her isolated lifestyle to Tristan who until Bentley was just the ADD playboy and romance cover model.
All in all I thought this was great read and recommend it to anyone who likes their romance without an excess of fluff.
