Dawn Russell is determined to get revenge on the vampires who killed her father. Darkly handsome Malachi Jameson feels the same way, even though he’s a vampire himself.

The problem? His idea of revenge is quite different from Dawn’s. She’s thinking wooden stakes driven through hearts Rambo style, while Malachi’s more about turning tables by bringing Dawn over to the dark side.

Revenge is a dish best served cold, but there’s more than one way to make it.

A short vampire romance with a nice, steamy bite.

Dawn’s father was turned into a vampire against his will, working in a club was the only job he could get until his immortal life is ended. Dawn won’t let his death be in vain she vow’s to get revenge on the vampire who killed her father. At his vampire funeral she watches all his friends trying to determined which one is the killer even confronting them as they attempt to leave. It’s Malachi who has the answer’s she much needs and is willing to help her get her revenge. When Malachi produces the one who killed her father he also offers with it a once in a life time opportunity that will change her life forever.

I like Dawn she’s a honorable daughter who’s willing to go at lengths to avenge her father. She also has noble goals to cure cancer which is how her mother died, her only issue is she’s running out of time. I like that Malachi is willing to help her achieve her goal even if it means pulling her into his world. The chemistry between the two of them works really well and they steamy.

I’ve had this one on my kindle for a while as a freebie and figured it would be a great way to start a day of reading. I like the story the characters are easy to connect with and the concept of vampires living among the humans works. It’s a quick fast paced vampire romance that has story and even a steamy moment. This is my first book by the author and I enjoyed her writing style. A great short romance that is easy to finish in one session. I’m curious to check out other books by the author.

"Amazing Vampire book!"
Dawn is set to find her Dad's killer. Dawn loved her Dad even though he had been turned into a vampire. She is sure she will find his killer at his funeral. But at closing of the service she meets Malachi a super sexy Vampire. He lets her know he knows who her killer is . What Dawn did not know is her Dad had talked to Malachi before he was killed, and made a special request of Malachi. Will Malachi honor Dawn's Dad's request and help Dawn get vengeance for her Dad on his killer. You will love this book!. The story line is amazing!. The characters are awesome. Plus you get the sexy vampire bite LoL . Michelle Fox is such an amazing writer I just love her books , and I think you will to :) .

Dawns father was a vampire who was murdered and she’s looking for revenge. She meets Malachi a vampire who offers to turn her as she’s dying.
He finds her fathers killer and gives her the chance at revenge.

This was just over so quickly, I understand it’s a short story but there was barely any backstory or a chance to get to know the characters. The romance was rushed and I just felt disappointed left wanting so much more at the end.

Interesting little read.

Ok I have to say this book wasn't what I expected, at all, I think that's mainly because on Amazon it's titled 'Vampire Romance: Turned' so I expected a romance which in my opinion it's not, that's not to say this isn't an interesting little read because it is.
It's starts at a funeral, Dawn's dads funeral, her dad was a vampire and apart from Dawn everyone attending is a vampire, Dawn wants to know who killed her father and it's not like she's got anything to lose so she's not quitting until she has her answer.
I would have liked more, a lot more, this felt like the start of something so I'll have to check it out.
Most of the reviews I've seen give 5 stars but while I enjoyed this little read I feel that for me 3 stars is fair, this is due in part to its length.

This short  read from Michelle Fox is good, I picked it up for free too!

It's not a long read so won't go over plot, there's a sexy and smooth vamp called Malachi and a human called dawn.

For a short story I really got a feel for Dawn and was intrigued by Malachi.

Left me wanting more!

2.5, round up

Meh, I didn't much care for this. If it was going for romance, it missed the mark by a mile. They had sex, sure, but there was no romance. Worse, I found Malachi skeevy. I didn't like or even trust him on Dawn's behalf.

this isn't a romance book. there's one sec scene and I barely even call it lust. it was mechanical that's about it. easy n quick to read but lack luster. it could've been great if it was another 60 plus pages. but yeah nah. sorry but no thanks.

What...did...I...just...read?

The pros...there are vampires
The cons...everything else...
There is no plot...no actual romance...no character goals and plenty of contradictions. This is a pure smut vampire sex fantasy. Over 50% of the book is just their hardcore sex scene.

These are the contradictions:
Beginning sentence makes me believe she is a vampire Hunter who hates vampires but yet she gives herself willingly over to a vampire in the same day then gets turned by him.

Her father was turned by a vampire and she hated the vampire that took his life, she swore to get an eye for an eye then finds out it was another Hunter who killed her father and she backs down from killing him because the vampire said they don't kill humans...what...that is so stupid.

This is the entire story plot...if you want to even call it that:
Daughter of a wrongfully turned and murdered father seeks justice for father's death. Speaks to one suspicious and cocky vampire. Passes out do to her own cancer. The vampire she was accusing took her to his club while unconscious and showed her the Hunter human that killed her vampire father. She then finds out vampires really have soft hearts believe in God and don't murder humans. She also finds out that vampires can only turn a human through sex while feeding on them. So since the vampires still have good natured hearts after they are turned they just can't turn their own sick dying kids because they would have to rape them. So they look to find other vampires to rape them for them only if the rape is to rough the human turns into a zombie. After hearing all that and the possibility she could die instantly she spreads her l legs becomes a vampire so she can finally have enough time to cure cancer. The pros...there are vampires

Short and sweet as it was, I enjoyed the story. It’s hard to get an insight into the character’s lives with just a snapshot but the world they live in was described well enough for the reader to get a good understanding.

Oh boy… first off… page breaks. They’re a thing. How about you use them? The blurb, reader bonus, author bio and chapter one should NOT all be listed without a break.
Now to the story… oh, god… What did I just read?
Dawn’s father became a vampire and then someone killed him. She decides to have a funeral for his vampire friends where they drink toasts of blood so that she can identify the murderer because the killer HAS to be there.
*blinks*
That’s what killers did, right? Inserted themselves into the crime somehow? This was the whole reason I even had the memorial service in the first place. (Kindle Locations 62-63).

*laughs hysterically*
She thinks she can get all the vampires to sign the guest book so she can hunt them down later because they obviously killed her father… who was a VAMPIRE. *face palms*
Omg… then one, Malachi, tells her, her father’s killer isn’t there… [no? Really? and this is soooooo silly.]
This MC thinks it matters to vampires if their victims are ugly or not. But mostly because they ought to be eating her.
[Sweetie, we need to talk.]
By vampire standards, I looked like I tasted good, so what was with the hyper focus on beer belly over there? (Kindle Locations 137-138).

Please tell me they drain her. I’m 25% in and I’m hoping the MC gets drained by the vampires… this isn’t good.
Nope, the chubby guy is her father’s killer. He’s a vampire hunter which oddly she thinks is bad given she wanted to do it herself a page ago. And murder her father’s killer.
She kicks him with her high heels and drives the heel in.
*blinks again*
You remember how she was BETTER than vampires?
Yeah… neither do I.
But Malachi has it under control.
“Yes. Turning someone involves a,” he paused, casting about for the right word. After a moment, he settled on, “an intimate relationship.”
I blanched. “You mean sex?”
He cocked his head to the side and studied me, as if taken aback by the bluntness of my words. “Yes, and your father wasn’t comfortable with that aspect of turning you.” (Kindle Locations 205-208).

Ah… saying the word sex is many things but blunt isn’t one of them. And gosh, your father didn’t want to fuck you to turn you. *snorts* she’s also upset… ‘my father didn’t have sex!’ she wails…
[honey, we REALLY need to talk…]
Oooh can I guess who wants to fuck her?
No prizes for guessing this.
[And what IS this vampire world where having sex is required to turn people. It’s about blood and darkness surely.]
Wait… Malachi doesn’t want to eat her, as she’s ill. Evidently she has cancer. She’s annoyed that they might think she tastes bad.
“ I’m good at math and science . Really good . And I’ve studied the biochemistry up and down , and inside and out . I know cancer and I have lots of ideas . I just need the credentials and experience to figure out if any of my theories are any good . ” (Kindle Locations 268-270).

What? You don’t cure CANCER by having it and knowing math and science… well, you know what I mean.
[And let’s imagine for a second, a world where vampires exist and you are a young person who has cancer. There’s so many better ways to deal with this.]
Malachi tells her it is against their sacred rules to turn the dying [imagine having immortal cancer forever? NO, writing brain! Corral those plot bunnies NOW]
But he’s up for it.
And she agrees which is odd given she HATES vampires.
So… the sex… she’s horrified that he bites her ‘there’. Oh ffs.
Malachi says:
“You fight me, but you don’t really mean it, do you?” (Kindle Location 460).

Says all rapists everywhere…
Then after she becomes a vampire she refuses to kill the Hunter because ‘she’s not a murderer’

This was my first book introduction to Michelle Fox, and I will have to say that I'm hooked and looking forward to reading her other stories; especially in the world of vampires. This is clearly an adult novel with a very steamy sex scene in it.

My one complaint of this story is that it's a short story which I was able to read rather quickly. I was disappointed to read that another full length vampire romance novel from the same world is available; however it has different characters. I really wish there was more depth to it, and a much longer storyline since the idea behind it has plenty of room to grow.

That being said, I do think that Fox was able to give a good complexity to her characters even in this shorter story. The book quickly sucked me in with its fast pace, and kept me guessing until the end. Especially the build up to the romance and turning point for Dawn, the main character. Dawn is very relatable and easy to connect with. She has clearly gone through some tough times in her life, causing her to be independent and a strong female lead; yet also has times of vulnerability that we clearly experience along with her. Again, I look forward to other stories by Michelle Fox and think she has great potential in her writing abilities.

Dawn is determined to find the vampire that killed her father . While he was a vampire he was all the family she had left even though she herself is human. At her father funeral she decided she will find the vamp on her own, she challenges Malachi . Malachi warns her not to challenge the vamos and he whispers he know her father killer and he will meet her to discuss her father murder.

Malachi knows Dawn is sock with cancer and gives her a choice to stay alive and find that cancer cure by turning her . After loosing his wife and daughter he refuses to let her die too and what more his attraction to her will make the turning sweet and eternal life complete with her as his .

Good book not to long or too fast paced. You can relate with the characters.

Entertaining fantasy listening 🎶🔰

Another will written fantasy world 🌎 thriller short story by Michelle Cox about a young woman 🚺 who has the same cancer her mother died from. At the funeral for her father she meets a vampire who can help you by changing her to a vampire and the fun begins. I would recommend this novella to readers of fantasy novels 👍🔰. Enjoy the adventure of reading 👓 or listening 🎶 to Alexa as I do because of health issues. 2022 👒😤 ⌚

This wasn't bad for such a short read. The length didn't really allow for much plot or character development, so I always find it incredibly difficult to really get fully invested in novellas. However, this was pretty good considering how short it was. There's a decent plot, and what originally drew me to this book was the one star reviews about the smut - which was probably the best part of the story.

Second chance at life

Very short story, but well written. At some point in each of our lives, we realize that revenge is not what's it cracked up to be. She realized that instead of killing the person who killed her dad, that he will be much more useful to helping her save m an kind.

Great story

I enjoyed this one,i just would liked to have had a longer time with dawn as a vampire, after her first drink it kind of ended rather abruptly, it would have been amazing to see into that world just a little longer, did Malachi keep her i know he said she was his,but was she just a flying fancy or something more permanent.

Short and well written

It’s such an entertaining little novella that just makes you wanna read more. I lacked some stronger emotions but I guess, they are left for the full size stories.

I really liked the heroine and wouldn’t mind reading more of her adventures.
Totally recommend for an evening read. 💚

I enjoyed this novella/short story.
It was basic and I’d love to have seen it developed into a novel, i think it has the bones for a great book.
Everything just happened so quickly and easily that I don’t remember the names now but I had a good time while reading it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ give it a go if you need a quick vampire fix - 40 pages and you’re done.

Quick read that wasn’t the best. The description wasn’t anything like what the book was about. A girl is sick and her dad was a vampire that got staked in the heart. She then gets turned into a vampire which apparently the only way how is sex. Kind of ruins everything you love about vampires. Even their sex appeal

Was worried that with it being such a short read it would not have much of a plot. I was pleasantly surprised there was a plot with even some back story. Overall I liked the story an the two main characters in the book.

Dawn's father was turned into a vampire, but then he was murdered. She is determined to find his killer and is convinced it was one of the vampires, but she's a bit out of her league.

This was short, kinda sweet, kinda sexy. If you take it for what it was it was a good enough read.

Quick and to the Point

The attraction between Dawn and Malachi was well developed. I enjoyed her evolving feelings/emotions toward her father's murderer before and after her turning. Unfortunately, it was too short.

An entertaining read

Dawn's father is killed and she wants to know who did it. Thinking that vampires killed him, she holds a funeral/ memorial service for him, hoping to flush the killer out. Instead she finds the vampire leader and a new life. Interesting way to turn a person and looking forward to find out out more.
