הספרון של אלמון האובד הוא אוצר מוסתר.
נכתב ע"י פנדלטון בצרפתית ותורגם במלאכת אומנים ע"י יוסף מיוחס פותח את תקופת המקרא לפנינו ופורט את מקרה הצלת יהואש בן אחזיהו מפני המלכה עתליה המרשעת בת אחאב.
המעשייה כתובה בשפה מליצית אך ברורה של שנות החמישים של המאה ה 20. התיאורים המקראיים יחסית נאמנים למקור ומזכירים את שפת התנך. מספר קטעים מהספר לקוחים מהווי ותרבות אירופאים של פנלדטון כמו תיאור מכשפה, או תיאור עדת צוענים או אפילו כתר מלכות
אך לקורא הממוצע הדבר לא אמור לפגום במהלך הקריאה
בנוסף בחלק מהמקרים נראה היה שיש קפיצה קטנה בעלילה. לא ברור האם במקור או במהלך התרגום בוצעה הטעות

When I come across a really old and obscure book I tend to become a bit excited. I revel in the possibility that I might be reading something that no one else has read for decades. I suppose I get the feeling that I might be discovering a long forgotten treasure. I chose this book solely on that basis. Before I started reading it I did not have the slightest idea what the content might be. I suppose I got what I deserved for choosing a book in that manner. It turned out to be a preachy religious tract. Yuck! It did have one redeeming point though. The religion I am most frequently beaten over the head with is Christianity. This book promoted Judaism. I was somewhat interested in finding out what the difference was in being beaten over the head with another religion. There was not much difference however.
