Dark thoughts feed our demons...

A week ago Paul didn’t even believe in demons. Now he sees them everywhere. They ride around on heavy human shoulders, whispering hateful silence to their hosts.

In the wake of a tragic accident, Paul finds it hard to take the demons seriously. He is too caught up in mourning the loss of his best friend Kris. Whatever responsibility that comes with seeing demons is of no interest to him. Paul just wants his life back.

Except Kris is haunting Paul. The demons are starting to notice him watching them. Also, he seems to have developed some pretty incredible abilities beyond seeing demons. A new life needs to take shape if Paul wishes to survive, but the cost may be his old life falling apart.

Demons & Angels is the first novel in the Walking Between Worlds universe, a supernatural story set in Heaven, Hell, and San Francisco.

Jay Norry, aka J.K. Norry, is the multi-genre author of several books, many blog posts, and a few short stories.

He wrote his first book in his early twenties. After sitting on the manuscript for almost ten years, Stumbling Backasswards Into the Light was finally published via a small press in January 2012. Jay wrote his next book shortly after, and published Demons & Angels through his own company (Sudden Insight Publishing) in December 2014.

Since then he's written a lot of books. And he doesn't seem to be able to stop.

It's not a bad problem to have.

Jay lives in the hottest part of Northern California with his wife Dawn and their furry little princess Ximena. While he spends most of his hours on the side porch writing books, he also enjoys ticking items off his unending to-do list, drinking good scotch, and dreaming up future home projects.

I loved this book.

It's a hard to put down, page turner. Well written and descriptive, with a thrilling storyline and a unique take on personal demons and angels.
The author brought his characters to life in my mind and I lived alongside them through the turmoil and action.

However, be prepared, the ending is a real cliffhanger! Have the next book ready. If I had, I wouldn't have spent the past hour, since finishing the book, cussing J.K. Norry.

Walking Between Worlds; Book 1: Demons & Angels by J.K Norry

Paul Stone is not an ordinary person. He has the ability to see Angels and Demons, he finds he is not the only one who can do this. These people are called "Walkers". Paul meets a woman named Brenna along his journey, could there be some feelings between the two? Who is she, what is the role she will play in Pauls journy? Soon it is up to Paul to try to figure out who is good, who is bad, and to try to stop the evil in the world. Will he be able to do this, and will he be able to handle his new found role in life?

An original story that crosses the real world into another world of evil and good. I liked Paul, and I liked how his character developed. There are many characters, some you will like others you will not. I liked watching how the story unfolds, how Paul has to do some deep soul searching. Not only is he on a mission, but a personal one as well. There is also the suspense of who to trust, who is good, who is bad. There is enough action and drama that balance the story perfectly. Overall I liked the story, the plot, the originality . I feel that those who like Fantasy, (Demons/Angels) will enjoy Demons & Angels.

I thought this would be an interesting story. A different spin on the demons and angels wars. I was so disappointed. It turned out to be a twisting and turning mash of characters, all trying to tell their own story first. It was confusing as hell and I gave up trying to read it.

It was fine at best. I’ve never read an author who mentioned the smell of sex so many times in so few pages.

Being a huge fan of the TV show Supernatural, I was immediately drawn to the premise of Walking Between Worlds, a story of angels and demons, heaven and hell, and those that walk between. Book 1, Demons & Angels, revolves around the journey of Paul Stone, a man who discovers he has the ability to see and kill demons, and Mason, a man plagued by one.

This story is not your typical angel and demon plot. It has an intriguing, creative twist that definitely keeps things interesting. I especially liked how the author didn’t portray all angels as inherently good and all demons as utterly evil. With the author’s descriptive style, each scene is painted in such detail that you have no trouble seeing it unfold in your mind. There were some unexpected twists and the action is done well, providing a nice balance to the drama as Paul must adjust to his new life. I enjoyed Paul’s character and that of his guide, Chris. Far less, the sections told through the POV of Mason. For me, the long detailed descriptions of his band and his relationship with Sarah were difficult to get through. I enjoyed them at first. Then I began to feel like they interrupted the flow and didn’t really need to be there. The story, told from Paul’s POV, was solid and interesting, and more than strong enough to stand on its own without the slow-down effect of the interludes into Mason’s life. That being said, the writing itself was stellar. There were some lines I went back and read again just because they were that good.

The tension revolving around Paul and his new job as a walker built well throughout, but it really ratcheted up in the last quarter of the book. As the stakes increased, so did the pace, complimenting each other all the way to an unexpected (whoa-did-that-just-happen?!?) cliffhanger of an ending. It left me more than curious to see where this inventive supernatural series goes to next!

Paul Stone is the only one among his friends that sees and hears strange things. Mason can see demons—at least the one on his shoulder. The two men have never met. To the observer, the only thing else they have in common aside of their paranormal abilities is when Mason unwittingly drives through the scene of the crime, which leaves Paul comatose for three days and his friend Kris dead. Mason is your basic schlub and a loser musician. Despite his fixations with drug and alcohol, Mason meets Sarah and his life suddenly transform from one of a loser to a man who finds love and success in the musical arena.

Paul, on the other hand, is happy that he's alive and building a relationship with Brenna, the love of his life. But it's not until he strikes up a conversation with the now deceased Kris that he realized something bizarre is going on, especially when he can see devils, angels, and demons. Paul learns that he has become a Walker and now has the ability to live his life in both the earthly and ethereal realms. While he has been given the task of separating demons from humans, Paul's life is put at risk when he gets involved in a battle to find who is killing off Walkers...

Interesting read, when Paul and his friends step out from having coffee, Paul's friend is hit by a car being driven by Mason, a man who has a few demons in his persona. Paul's friend Kris is killed and the reader is taken into an adventure. This story delves not only into the world of angels and demons but into their origination. Do we cause our own good and evil or is it out of our hands. This supernatural thriller takes a look at those angels and demons in a more realistic way and the journey is well worth grabbing this book and having a look. I think this author has a unique writing style which readers will love because the author speaks to you and has some wonderful things to share.

I think Angels and Demons, by Jay Norry is a wonderful story mixing a spiritual context with action/adventure. The plot, no spoiler from me, tells the tale of the organization of the universe, humans, angels and demons. His characters play in all three. The pace quickened as the story moved along, and there are twists that will surprise. Underlying, yet not completed, is a love story, I think. I guess I'll have to wait for the next one. Looking forward to it.

This book reminds me a little of the TV show "Supernatural". The Angels vs Demons thing is very interesting to me. This book kept me wanting to read more. I hope to see more character development further in the series. I would love to learn more about them. But I guess a good book keep you wanting more. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Wonderfully inventive

Jay Norry's novel cleverly builds up an ordinary situation then in the blink of an eye shows how fate and something seemingly inconsequential can have catastrophic results for the main characters. I really enjoyed his colourful descriptions of Walkers and his take on Angels, Devils and demons is original and refreshing.

*I received a copy of this book for an honest review...a very long time ago. Sorry, Mr. Norrey, please forgive me for that!*

So, this book was NOT bad. At all. A very interesting plot and telling, and interesting characters, too. I found it pretty unique to what I've read before, and really liked that about it. But, for some reason, I just couldn't get into it. I have no idea why, either This is the sort of book that usually hooks me and won't let go until it's over, but I just didn't get engrossed, and in fact found myself putting it down and coming back to it over and over again, rather than devouring it at once.

I do think a lot of people will like it, those who are fans of paranormal, angels, and demons, and hope that they don't have the issue I did with being unable to connect. I will read more of this series and hope it's just a one off for me.
