It’s a typical day of bureaucracy and stress for President and First Lady Jeff and Kitty Katt-Martini, made more stressful when alien spacecraft are spotted making a beeline for Earth, none of them from the Alpha Centauri system. Then a cryptic request from an old adversary pulls Kitty out of the White House and into an explosion—and an even more explosive situation. Not only is the Mastermind back in the game, influencing the Club 51 True Believers to find and destroy all Centaurion bases, but he’s also found a dangerous benefactor and created some frightening new cloning abilities.

And, just to make things a little more challenging, those alien spacecraft are coming to ask Kitty for protection, and asylum on Earth. Police stations being blown up and war helicopters in play aren’t enough to keep Kitty down, especially when she’s got some new alien friends helping out. But what these aliens share will rock the world—the other aliens on their way to Earth are fleeing an enemy so terrifying that even a Z’porrah ship is trying to get to Earth for safety and protection. And if Earth isn’t able to stop this threat, there may not be anything left of humanity. Now Kitty and Company have to figure out where the Mastermind is and stop him, before any new aliens land. And then they have to save the world from a deadly invasion. Or, as Kitty calls it, Thursday.

There are fourteen books in this series and despite how long these books are, the series doesn’t feel very long and I think this is mainly due to the fun personalities that this book has. In all my reviews for this series, I always state how much I love Kitty. She’s got a little bit of sass and spunk, but at the same time, she’s also very responsible too. And her work as First Lady doesn’t really change her. I like that about her. She is who she is and no matter what comes her way, nothing really seems to faze her.

First off I want to say that if you’re thinking about trying this series, you can probably get away with reading one in the middle of the series because Koch has a short recap of events at the beginning of every book. Now you probably won’t get the full effect as reading all the books would have, but it’s still enough to clue you in on what’s happening and also it’s a great refresher for those of us who have forgotten some details. Even then, scattered throughout the books are details that will help guide you so although it can be daunting to try because each book is almost always above 500 pages, Koch makes it easy to follow along.

The other thing I want to mention is Jeff. It’s quite likely that Jeff might be my favorite character in this series. I love Kitty, but I love her even more when Jeff is around. Although he is President, he hasn’t really lost what makes me love him. So despite all the politics and the worldbuilding in this book, there’s also a really good romance as well. Kitty and Jeff might actually be one of my fave couples of the year. I just love reading their interactions with one another and I don’t see as many people talking about them which is why I wanted to shed some more light on them as a couple.

Once again, Gini Koch has surpassed my expectations. Authors, if you want a lesson in worldbuilding and complex politics, Koch’s books are the ones you need to read up on. She does it flawlessly and the execution is spot on every time. There’s a reason why this series is so popular and it’s because there’s nothing else out there in the universe like it.

There coming, there coming, the aliens are coming. Kitty, once again, finds herself saving the world and those she loves with a team of the most unusual characters around. Called into help an old adversary, Kitty is pulled into another one of the Mastermind’s plot that includes enhanced new clones.

If that isn’t too much for her to handle…the aliens are coming or maybe running for their lives to the only one, they know has a chance…Kitty. Are they friend or foe? Are they bringing an even bigger threat in their wake and what’s with the turtle statues showing up all around?

Outrageous antics and side splitting fun, Koch has once again managed to combine politics, aliens, amazing world building and hysterical situations that you couldn’t even dream of. Alien Nation has more twists and turns than a world class rollercoaster and keeps you clinging onto your seat for the entire ride.

If you love a complex and ever growing tale with outlandish, funny characters and the action to back them up then Alien Nation is the book for you.

I received this ARC copy of Alien Nation from Berkley Publishing Group- DAW in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication December 6, 2016.

Fourteenth in the Katherine "Kitty" Katt comical science fiction romance series and revolving around a human woman who became enhanced over the past twelve stories and is in love with an alien who is now president of the United States. Hmmmm…

My Take
Well, this is a different kind of back history. We finally learn a lot more about the Ancients and the Z'porrah. Turns out they both used to be friendly with the same aims. Until the usual falling-out. But there is quite a bit of promise in this one as well, even if Koch takes one of her twisty paths to get there. It'll keep you on your toes, flipping pages to find out what happens next. Sigh…and now I'm panting for the next one in the series, Alien Education .
Alien Nation uses first-person protagonist point-of-view using Kitty's perspective, which is perfect since the story is so completely flavored with her Kittyisms, but not as much music…

I dunno. Koch, er, Muddy, claims that worlds ruled by royalty do better against enemy aliens than worlds ruled by a democracy. I don't see America as being much of a democracy anymore, ruled as we are by lobbyists, corporations, and politicians out for themselves, and I can't see us faring that well against the bad guys.

I guess it's why it is such fun — in Kitty's world — to discover someone willing to step up and take charge. To put themselves on the line for the good of a world.

Huh, turns out it's all true. Area 51 really is a popular landing site for aliens, Koch certainly puts forward a good reasoning for it. It also turns out that the children are so much more powerful than any of us thought. Ooh-wee, this oughta be fun!

The Story
It’s a typical day of bureaucracy and stress for President Jeff and First Lady Kitty Katt-Martini, made more stressful when alien spacecraft are spotted making a beeline for Earth, none of them from the Alpha Centauri system.

And, just to make things a little more challenging, those alien spacecraft are coming to ask Kitty for protection — and asylum on Earth, for they are fleeing an enemy so terrifying that even a Z’porrah ship is trying to get to Earth for safety and protection!

Then a cryptic request from an old adversary pulls Kitty out of the White House and into an explosion—and an even more explosive situation. Not only is the Mastermind back in the game, but he’s created some frightening new cloning abilities.

If Earth isn’t able to stop either of these threats, there may not be anything left of humanity.

Or, as Kitty calls it, Thursday.

The Characters
There's a more complete cast of characters on my upcoming blog, if you're interested.

Katherine "Kitty" Katt Martini used to be completely human. Now she's a mom and married to Jeff. Well, and she has some powers of her own including that Dr. Doolittle thing ( Alien Proliferation , 4). Bruno and Lola are the Head Peregrine Birds and have attached themselves to Kitty. Poofikins is Kitty's official Poof. They have two children: Jamie who holds ACE, a collective superconsciousness ( Alien Research , 8), and Charlie. Mous-Mous is Jamie's Poof.

Jeff Martini is from Alpha Centauri (A-C) and happens to be the president of the United Staes ( Alien in Chief , 12) and king of the world. Murphy is Jeff's favorite Poof, although Harlie is the Head Poof and Jeff's first Poof. Joseph and Rob are first- and second-in-command of Jeff's Secret Service detail. Craig Rossi is Jeff's double.

Charles “Chuckie” Reynolds, the director of the CIA, has been Kitty's best guy friend since 9th grade and widowed after events in Alien Research when his wife, Naomi Gower, "died".

Kitty's mom, Angela Katt, is the head of the Presidential Terrorism Control Unit (PTCU). Kevin Lewis is her second-in-command. Denise is his gorgeous wife and in charge of the embassy daycare for the A-Cs. Raymond and Rachel are their gorgeous children. Malcolm Buchanan was assigned as one of Kitty's bodyguards ( Alien Diplomacy , 5); he may be human, but he has some Dr. Strange powers. Len Parker and Kyle Constantine are officially Kitty's driver and bodyguard who also report to Chuck for the CIA ( Alien in the Family , 3). Manfred, a troubadour, is the head of Kitty's A-C protection detail. Evalyne is the head of Kitty's Secret Service detail; Phoebe is her second-in-command. Francine Alexis is Colette's eldest sister, one of the most experienced troubadours, and Kitty's body double.

Jeff's parents, the science-oriented Alfred Martini and Lucinda White, were born on Alpha Four of the Alpha Centauri system. Elizabeth "Lizzie" Vrabel (she was Elizabeth Jackson) is now Kitty's ward (the bad guys hate her because she schooled the Junior Skulls on not being bullies in Alien in Chief ); she had been adopted by Benjamin Siler, the first human-alien hybrid and the son of Ronald Yates and Madeline Siler Cartwright. He can "blend" and ages very slowly besides a slew of other powers.

The White House
Rahnish Singh, a Troubadour, is the Chief of Staff. Fritz Hochberg is the new vice-president. Natalie Gagnon-Brewer is now the Secretary of Transportation ( Alien Diplomacy ). Elaine Armstrong, the widow of the previous president, is now Jeff's Secretary of State. Walter Ward is now head of security at the White House (Teddy is his Poof while George and Gracie are his Peregrines) while his older brother William is in charge of worldwide security for the A-Cs. Nancy "Squeaky" Maurer has come over to our side after the A-Cs rescued her son, a now in-control android, Cameron. She's the White House Social Secretary for the First Lady. Abner Schnedkedy is the Chief Floral Designer and Chief Decorator. (His wife, Lilian Culver, is the top lobbyist for the defense industry). Vance Beaumont is Kitty's Chief of Staff; Guy Galoire, the head lobbyist for Big Tobacco, is Vance's husband ( Alien Diplomacy ). Colette Alexis is Kitty's Press Secretary and a troubadour. Antoinette Reilly is the Chief Usher.

General Mortimer "Uncle Mort" Katt, a Marine and Sol's brother, is the current Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Colonel Arthur Franklin is in charge of Andrews Air Force Base. Colonel Marvin Hamlin. Captain Gil Morgan. Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Gonzalez is based at Area 51 along with Colonel John Butler, an in-control android.

The A-C Embassy is…
…where a number of the series-critical A-Cs live. Richard White is Christopher's father, the former Supreme Pontifex of Centaurion religion, Kitty's field partner, and now the Public Relations Minister for the A-Cs. Christopher White, an imageer, is Jeff's cousin. Amy Gaultier-White, a lawyer and Kitty's best girl friend since high school, has inherited her father's corporation but still doesn't have control of it, and is Christopher's wife. They have a child: Becky ( Alien in Chief ). Missy is the head of security at the A-C embassy. Dr. Tito Hernandez is in charge of all things medical ( Alien in the Family ).

Algar is a refugee from the Black Hole whom Kitty had dubbed the Operations team.

Hacker International is the unofficial name for the computer geniuses who live over at the Zoo, part of the Embassy Complex. Stryker Dane is an old friend of Kitty's and is the head of the group that includes Yuri, Big George, Ravi Gaekwad (he's married to Jennifer), and Henry. Chernobog had been the world's greatest hacker. And now she works with the A-Cs ( Alien Collective , 9).

Serene Dwyer, a troubadour and an imageer, is Head of Imageering for Centaurion Division. She's also in charge of the very secret Centaurion CIA. She's married to Brian Dwyer, an astronaut, and they have a son, Patrick. Doreen Coleman-Weisman is the current American Centaurian ambassador. Paul Gower, a powerful dream and memory reader, is the current Supreme Pontifex and is married to James Reader, a former international supermodel, who is Head of Field. Abigail Gower, his sister, is a reverse empath who feels thoughts as emotions; she came back from Beta Eight with Naomi's powers, her own, and more ( Alien Separation ). Jennifer Barone-Gaekwad (imageer) and Jeremy Barone (empath) are a sister-brother team of field agents. Mahin Sherazi is a hybrid with earth bender power. Camilla is one of the very few A-Cs who can lie.

Caliente Base is…
…located in Arizona. Viola Sciacca is in overall command with Romeo Ruggero in charge of the military and Carmine Giordano in charge of the gates.

Airborne for Centaurion Division is…
…a squad of Navy Top Guns assigned to A-C defense. Tim Crawford is in charge ( Alien in the Family ). Captains Lorraine and Claudia are two of Kitty's best Dazzler friends. They're married to Joe Billings and Randy Muir, two of the flyboys who were forcibly enhanced by Stephanie. Jerry Tucker (Kitty's favorite), Matt Hughes, and Chip Walker are more flyboys.

Mister Joel Oliver and Bruce "the Tastemaker" Jenkins ( Alien Collective ) are journalists who have unlimited access to the A-Cs. Olga Dalca is the wheelchair-bound wife of the Romanian ambassador; Adriana is her granddaughter to whom she is teaching everything she knew as a KGB spy.

Prince is a German shepherd police dog along with Riley and Duke; their handlers are Officers Herman Melville, "Curly", and "Larry". Jane "Star", Rhonda, and the Czech Meriel are hookers while Barnaby "Brad" Ramsey and Carlton "Cujo" Shepherd are in the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at Florida State and Mickey and Garfield are homeless guys; all seven are caught up in it all.

Thomas Kendrick, head of Titan Security, is one of the new additions to Team Alien. Senator Donald McMillan is the senior senator from Arizona and a former war hero.

The Planetary Council is…
…filled with representatives from the friendly planets around earth. Jareen the Reptilian from Beta 13; King Benny from Beta Eight; Lakin is a Hawkman; and, the Cleophese. The Shantanu are colorful penguin people with Bettini as the Head Spokespenguin with Rohini as Bettini's second. Felicia and Arup are Feliniads while Wahoa, Wrolf, and Willem are Canus Majorans. Queen Renata leads the Amazons from Beta Twelve. Her daughters, Rahmi and Rhee, have been working with Kitty and company for some time now.

The Ancients are…
…an ancient race of shapeshifters, a.k.a., the Old Ones, who've been meddling with everyone's evolution. Rudolph "John" Wruck is an Ancient and the only survivor from LaRue's attack on her own crew. LaRue Demorte Gaultier turned out to be a traitorous Ancient and Z'porrah spy.

The Incoming Aliens
The Vrierst are a manta-ray-like people. The Yggethnia System people look like golden lemurs. …an ancient race of dino-bird boogeymen from a galaxy far, far away who hate humans. La'fean is one of their leaders.

The Aicirtap look like large beetles and were uplifted by the Z'porrah. Six-foot ones from Tau Ceti who used to be happy and loving. Ulzax is a female.

The Cover and Title
The cover is a combination of turquoises and browns. The focus is on Kitty with her long hair curling around her shoulders and wearing her signature blue. Behind her, the background is a close-up of that blue ball, earth, as seen from space, for aliens ships are speeding toward us. It's a collage of characters sharing that cover with Kitty, from the police dogs, Prince, Riley, and Duke, to the hawkman, lemur-like critters, and the sea mammals mixing it up with spaceships and Z'porrah power cubes. The first part of the title is a lighter turquoise and the second half in white at the top with the author's name in white at the bottom.

The title is more all-encompassing than you can imagine, for it will be an Alien Nation in so many, many ways.

14 books in and this series is stronger than ever! Once again Gini Koch has managed to up the stakes, this time bringing in a whole host of new alien species who are all headed to earth seeking sanctuary from a terrifying new enemy. I don't know where Gini gets her ideas from but you can look forward to meeting some fun new characters in Alien Nation.

This series never has a chance to grow stale because it's constantly evolving and I honestly don't know how Gini manages to create such intricate plots that have spanned over so many books. We've known who the Mastermind is for a couple of books now but Kitty and co finally get a chance to take out their enemy once and for all, if only they can stop him before he kills Jeff and the rest of the world leaders in one fell swoop that is.

I'm so glad we're back to seeing Kitty do what she does best, she has a unique way of looking at every situation and she's brilliant at finding new allies but more than anything she is able to kick ass with the best of them. There is just no stopping our girl when people she cares about are in danger and since she has such a huge heart that includes a massive circle of friends and adopted family members. This series has such a huge cast of characters but they're all so well drawn out that I never have any problems keeping track of who everyone is and I just have so many favourites whose stories I'm invested in.

None more than Kitty and Jeff though, they're such a brilliant couple and I love spending time with them. I'm so pleased that this series is still going strong and I'm looking forward to lots more future adventures in this world.

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales

Quick & Dirty: Many types of aliens flock to earth seeking help and mission accomplished, Kitty gets some major storylines wrapped up.

Opening Sentence: “Don’t Tread on Me” is a great rock song by Metallica.

The Review:

Alien Nation is the fourteenth novel in the Alien/Katherine “Kitty” Katt series. This science fiction/urban fantasy series continues the conflict with the Mastermind that Kitty and her gang have been fighting for quite some books. Gini Koch’s writing continues to be true to the character of Kitty while advancing the story.

Only about two weeks have passed since the events of Camp Alien. Kitty and Jeff are still having to piece together their Cabinet. Kitty is having a fun time reassigning people’s job after that apparently went so well the first time… But life is never boring for Kitty, so during one of the job meetings, Kitty is called away to deal with an issue. There are a bunch of aliens heading toward earth and they are not all the same type of creature. Kitty has to use her diplomatic skills in order to assure these new aliens are not killed or captured when landing on earth.

One of the ways Kitty wants to ensure that the aliens aren’t captured for evil is to finally take down the Mastermind and the Crazy Eights. In order to do that, she has to find out where he is now hiding. Also, Kitty uncovers some new but terrible creations by the Mastermind. He is desperate to take over and is resorting to some really unscrupulous acts. He even has some crazy equipment that has some terrible consequences for those around Kitty.

There are some really interesting creatures/aliens that show up on earth and I am really excited to see how they will factor in to the rest of the series. I like how they play a lot into mythology.

I think Kitty is one of the strongest female characters out there. She goes into the action, she does it all in the hopes of protecting all her friends and family. She makes the tough decisions and she does not dwell on the outcomes. In the beginning of the series she would take time to cry but she hasn’t done that in some time and I think it is because she knows that if she doesn’t stop the bad guys now then they can come back to haunt her and her community.

This series is still action-packed but I do think this one was more focused on all the decision making, between who to confirm for each cabinet position, what to do with the new aliens, how to tell all the countries aliens are coming, where the aliens should land, how to treat these new aliens, and how to take down the Mastermind. I will say again that this series is dialogue heavy between all the many characters chiming in and all the decision making in the mean time.

Overall, Alien Nation was quite the wrap up of all the things that have been true to Kitty while wrapping up major storylines. Honestly, this book did feel like it could have been the end of the series if need be but thankfully there are several more books to come. There is something that needs to be addressed but it isn’t a complete cliffhanger. I will say this series has been a bit hit or miss but in the end I really liked this series. I think Kitty is one of the strongest female characters out there.

Notable Scene:

“What the hell?” Jeff asked the room in general and me in particular.

“Do you think we’re infiltrated?” Chuckie asked, before I could reply. “Because this doesn’t seem like Walter but it does seem suspicious.”

“It does seem suspiciuos, but I don’t think Walter would willingly or knowingly ask me to walk into a trap. I think he’s completely unsure of the correct protocol for whatever situation he thinks he or we are in and is, therefore, asking for the one person he knows doesn’t give a crap about protocol at all.”

“I agree,” Buchanan said. He drew back my chair and helped me up. Jeff glared at him but it was only about a three on his jealousy scale, or, as I thought of it, Jeff’s base reaction to any man doing anything with me that Jeff felt he should be the one doing. “If we’re infiltrated, we’ll let you know.”

“How?” Chuckie asked flatly.

“I’ll run through the White House complex screaming.”

FTC Advisory: DAW/Penguin provided me with a copy of Alien Nation. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.

This is yet another fun and adventure-filled addition to an awesome series.

Fourteen books into this series Koch has developed a couple of 'go to' moves to keep the story going, but she knows this and makes fun of it, which makes that it's more a fun moment of recognition than anything else.

There's a lot going on and I was entertained throughout. There are new aliens, new allies, and more. Some longer running story lines are resolved, but others hint at much more to come. Kitty will need a long vacation once things calm down.

All in all this book is yet another rollicking ride and this piggy will stay on board of this SF train of wackiness and awesomeness for more.

This series only gets better and better. This is a MUST READ book. One of my favourite books showing up end of 2016, Ms. Koch delivers another stunning winner. Kitty is once again in the thick of things as subplots within subplots develop at the rate of rabbits copulating. This book is a page turner which should only be started earlier in the day. Forewarning for readers who think they will only read just a few chapters before bed. It is not going to happen. Do not say you were not warned when day breaks and you are still reading this book.

With all that has happened to Kitty, what new development can occur? With the Mastermind cut off at his knees, is he really that much of a threat? Apparently he still has a little power to wreak havoc. What is new in this book is the latest Big Bad coming to Earth. For those who loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer, you might get a similar vibe off of Kitty who is the Alien Saver. It appears that other aliens are looking to Kitty to protect them from this new threat. I am very intrigued.

This fast paced story is more than Kitty figuring out what is going on, it also continues to build out this world. This world is starting to reveal some ugly truths. Truths such as how allies become enemies and how those striving to be better or enlightened may not turn out the way they expected. The horrific atrocities committed due to a change to enlightenment is a social commentary in some ways. I enjoy books that have a deeper mean which makes readers think. Ms. Koch sneakily inserts some socio-political philosophies in an entertaining book. I wonder how many readers will catch it and discuss it in book clubs. Thought provoking and compelling, this sci-fi/fantasy may blow your mind.

Kitty is the ultimate out of the box thinker. I love how Ms. Koch keeps this consistent with her character. Kitty's ability to figure things out through things she's seen in movies and read in books is remarkable. It shows high cogitative skills which just tickles me to no end. Her ability to relate to those who don't look like humanoids is also impressive. I like how Ms. Koch doesn't make it easy for her characters. She uses different body types and crosses lines just to make it more difficult for her heroine. The latest batch of aliens bring in a wide range of body types. I must confess, the turtle like ones keep appearing in my mind like Squirtles from Pokémon.

Once again, Ms. Koch delivers a high quality story with strong characters, excellent world building and an in-depth plot. This story has it all. One can only hope this series can be turned into a TV series or movie. This hilarious and fast paced story is highly recommended to everyone.

There are fourteen books in this series and despite how long these books are, the series doesn’t feel very long and I think this is mainly due to the fun personalities that this book has. So obviously this review is filled with spoilers, it is book 14 after all. That is a lot of books! Kitty is now the first lady and Martini is the president. Yup, stuff happened and that came to play. She is of course the most kick.ass first lady that there ever has been. She has lots of other alien buddies, she has her animals and she has her enemies.

Earth is, well we suck. We are pretty evil and we can fight. And now lots of aliens are coming. And not at the best of times since well duh an ALIEN is the president of the USA! Everyone is now cheering, some are pretty pissed. Humans are petty things. But hey I get it, if an alien as the president is a lot to take in. We do not even like our neighbours, how can we like people from space now too?!

But I must say, there is still a lot of talking in these books. Maybe there always was, but these days I am just, get to the action! They talk, think and talk for ages, and then finally action, and that was over pretty quickly. And then we are left with...well I can not say that, cos that was a real spoiler, all these other things I have mentioned were just a reminder to read all those 13 books before this one. Oh and the music thing, it is also getting a bit too much, I do not need to know every song she is listening too. More like the highlights.

A brave new world, with hot aliens (and some not so hot *coughs*). A kick-ass series with a smart heroine that knows how to handle things, and does not need a man to save her or the day.

Another Kitt Katt-Martini adventure and I'm more in love then ever! Kitty's world has changed and evolved so much, That my enjoyment can't help but evolve too. Kitty has also evolved and grown, but at the same time, at her core, she is still the same kick-ass, strong, smart and fearless heroine I adore.
In Alien Nation, Gini takes this world to the next level and what a fantastic ride it is!
Yes, it important to have read the previous books, but I wasn't as overwhelmed with not remembering everyone in Alien Nation, as I was in a few previous novels.
There's so much going on in Alien Nation that it's impossible to be bored for even a second and I loved catching up with some of my favorite fictional characters ever!
I truly do hope Gini keeps writing this series for a long time, I can't imagine my life without some ACs, Kitty and Martini new adventures in it.
If you have yet to check out this series, what the heck are you waiting for?
If you are a fan, you will not be disappointed! :)

*My Thoughts*

Alien Nation, by author Gini Koch, is the 14th installment in the Katherine "Kitty" Katt science fiction series that has been at the top of my list for some time now. Alien Nation picks up 6 weeks after the ending of Camp Alien. This book has everything you can expect from Gini Koch. It has new aliens who have fled their home worlds and are apparently seeking asylum from the most interesting and well known person in several galaxies; Kitty.

Jeff and Kitty Martini, the new President and First Lady are busy trying to do some damage control in politics, when Kitty is called away to tend to some new crisis. A new alien invasion is coming to Earth! Are they hostile, or friendly? But before they get to Earth, Kitty’s help is wanted by the K9 squad and a strange prisoner they have arrested a while ago. Is it really one of the Crazy Eight? Or is it a ploy to lure Kitty outside the White House and its protection? The possibility to find out the whereabouts of the new lair of the Mastermind if it really is Casey and she has truly defected, is enough to make Kitty come to the police station.
Even when weird turtle statues keep popping up in her vicinity…

While Jeff is busy being President, Kitty is fighting home grown terrorists to defend Caliente base with the help of her surprising new alien friends.

The mastermind keeps plotting and planning the downfall of Alpha Centaurian though, and especially that of his nemesis, Kitty’s best friend Chucky. And he just might succeed in that, if Kitty can’t unite all of Earth’s governments and religions to stand and defend Earth against this new threat from outer space… Will he get the last laugh this time, or is he still no match for the awesomeness and resourcefulness that is Kitty?

The 14th book in the series, and it is still going strong, never predictable or boring. I enjoyed this latest instalment a lot. It is filled with action and intrigue and new alien friends to get to know. There is also time for romance for some of her friends and allies and it is very nice as new couples are forming. I do love Kitty’s strength, compassion and sense of humor, not so much her taste in music, although it sure helps her out of tough situations.

I do wonder if Gini watched the movie “Guardians of the Galaxy”, and got some ideas for the looks of some of those new aliens.

10 stars.

Another fun adventure with Kitty and Jeff. More aliens are coming to earth--this time as refugees fleeing a greater threat. I was very happy that Jeff got to participate in the action instead of being shuffled off to a bunker (since he's now the President).

Quibble: By this point in the series the size of Kitty's entourage and the number of villains is getting ridiculous. I wish the author had focused down a little instead of including everyone in every book. Or at least included an index of characters.

I absolutely LOVED IT!!!!!!! Just when you think Gini Koch is at the top of her game, she will go on to become impossibly better. She is one of the best at combining humorous with a nail bitting action-packed adventure story that keeps you guessing until the very last page.

I can't wait to read the next book.

Kitty Katt-Martini's day started out quite normal - well, normal for her as being the FLOTUS and all that. She's in a meeting with her husband Jeff Martini and most of her staff and officials and the Planetary Council when Walter, who supervises security in the White House asks for her personally to come and see her. This is when things go downhill - new aliens friendly and unfriendly are heading for earth. The first seeking refugee from the latter.. but before Kitty can do anything she is called to another situation, one involving a "bot" and soon it's business as usual for Kitty with saving the world and figuring out who and where the crazy evil is..

Wow, this time Gini has outdone herself! This is the best book so far in the series and I really love how Gini is constantly developing the series so there is no boring same-same. In this book, the action starts immediately and doesn't stop until the end. And a lot happens! It also seems as though Kitty and the team grew up in relation to enemy treatment. While they hesitated to eliminate anybody in the past, there was no hesitation in this book and I loved ruthless Kitty very much and best of all during the showdown .

And don't get me started on the potential new love interests!! Oh my God, Gini Koch, I think I'm in love with you!!! I was waiting so long for new couples and finally I got at least one confirmed and it made me kiss my book :-) I really hope Gini does something for Chuck soon - either bring Naomi back or give him a new chance for love. We all need to see him happy again.

The developments with all those new aliens on earth and out there in space keep me guessing on if we are going out in space again as well as if we are getting to see the other Kitty from Operation Bizarro World again. However - and whatever Gini has in store for us - I've already started the next book. This series is hands down my favorite series ever!! And I know I'm repeating myself but seriously!! If you haven't started this series yet, I can only ask: What is freaking keeping you?????

I've always said that for a series to grow this long, the main character has to grow, change, develop, and respond to the events in his or her life.

Now, I've been enjoying this series for a while. I particularly liked "Universal Alien" and "Alien Separation" which took us off of Earth as we know it and into alternate realities or alien worlds. They added something, if not exactly to the character, then at least to the universe.

But both in Camp Alien and now in Alien Nation, I found myself bored, only half listening to the usual high-energy fast-paced blitz of suspense and action. Or, as Kitty and pals like to call it, "Routine."

I'm afraid whenever I hear that line anymore, I think, "Routine is exactly the problem."

Kitty hasn't grown or moved in several books now. I suppose the last change was when she began the FLOTUS, but let's face it -- that was a change in title, not in personality or even position. She's still the same person doing the same thing, leading the team the way she's been doing since book one. She doesn't even have any doubts anymore. She's got godlike entities whispering into her ears, removing all the tensions, and taglines like "Go with the crazy" suggesting that it shouldn't work but of course, wink wink, we all know it will so why are we even reading this?

Obviously, I'm disillusioned. I was hesitant over the first book in this series but warmed to it immensely over the next few volumes. It hit a high point, like I said, when we brought in other universes and other worlds. But now ... where's it going? What's the point? Is it ever going to be more than it is right now, or will kitty simply to the same off-the-cuff, god-whispered things until we stop buying books?

"Alien Nation" by Gini Koch is part of the genre-twisting ‘Alien’ series, this story combines science fiction, fantasy, paranormal romance, and adventure elements into another suspenseful tale as mostly human Katherine (Kitty) Katt-Martini and her hunky Alpha Centauri hubby Jeff marshal friends, family, and allies to deal with an alien invasion that is fleeing an horrific menace that will literally change every being it comes into contact with. Finding a way to cozy up to those who definitely look different from what she is used to will be only one thing that Kitty needs to conquer but she’s never backed down from a challenge yet and she is definitely not going to start now…when EVERYONE’s life is at stake.

This book features another delightful and exciting adventure with First Lady Kitty Katt-Martini and the rest of the larger-than-life folks in her circle. The FLOTUS is learning the ‘power of the paw’ in addition to a few other perks of the office, but the crises are still arriving fast and furious, and problems are increasing astronomically. With her usual inimitable style and aplomb, Kitty kicks butt with enthusiasm accompanied by an impressive playlist that represent not-so-subtle clues from one of her allies, working around constraints imposed.

It’s always amazing to me how this author can address current issues with such flair and provide a wondrously entertaining story with her portrait of the dangers of bigotry and the importance of acceptance and appreciation for the contributions that can be made by those who are very different from us. I am always vastly entertained by the creatures who populate these stories, and wow, the images of the Turleens swooping around doing their Gamera imitation while helping Kitty save the day had me laughing out loud. The amazing thing about Gini’s stories is that they are SO outlandish and chock-full of pop culture references and musical clues that one can spend hours captivated by the imagery. Add in an exciting story…who can help being nervous when the BAD GUYS are FLEEING something…plus a few puzzles (like who is Patricia and what did she do to be featured as such a horrible alien race, lol), cameos by some of one’s favorite characters, and the ongoing love affair between the main characters, and one can disappear into one of these hefty books for days.

Those who are unfamiliar with the series should definitely start at the beginning (one of these days, these thick books need to be made even thicker by a list of characters to help us keep track of who’s who) but be advised that only those who love sarcastic wit and wonderfully exciting larger-than-life adventures will appreciate these comic-book-on-steroids tomes that combine humor, self-honesty, loyalty, and the excitement of an ongoing struggle for identity in a world that is getting smaller but no less important in terms of the universe. I have to wonder how the author is able to keep raising the bar in her ability to combine wacky with relevant but I definitely appreciate her talents and look forward to more tales in this fantastic series even though it apparently has a planned endpoint that is rapidly approaching.

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4
Book 14!!! Crazy to think that we are 14 books into this series. Ms. Koch does an amazing job of keeping each story fresh and new even when/if the storyline carries over to another book. About the only bad thing I can say is that the cast of characters is so vast that I sometimes get confused on who and where we meet some of the side characters. But Ms. Koch does a pretty good job of reminding us as to when-ish we met said characters.
I really liked this book. I like that Kitty finally got someone to see that she is indeed “nuts” and the one in charge of everyone. My favorite part of this book was Kitty freaking out on Christopher (who is my favorite). I think I might have died laughing a little bit here. I also really liked the Chuck-a-Lowes!!! All in all another great story by Ms. Koch. I can’t wait to see what is next for Kitty, Jeff and crew.
And yes, this is book 14. While I think you should start from the beginning because, you will get to know Kitty, Jeff, Christopher and Chuckie so much better. But you could possible pick up one of the books and kinda know what is happening. But I say start at the beginning and experience all of Kitty and her awesomeness

Alien Nation by Gini Koch hits all the right notes. This is the fourteenth installment in the Katherine "Kitty" Kat Series and it continues to be fresh and sparkly. Humorous and stand out characters make this book and series a very unique read. Kitty is now the First Lady and her darling Jeff, President. These two will have to deal with the most dangerous of situations as fanatics want to destroy all. Thank goodness we have the most amazing First Lady ever and her extraordinary gang of bad-asses the Earth has ever seen. Alien Nation was a wonderful read. If your interest is pique-ted, it would be a great place to take up the series if you have not had the opportunity. Kitty continues to be one of my all time fave science fiction heroines.

Fun ride and the crew hasn't overstayed their welcome. I have some issues with the series, but it's so fun that I can forgive them. Everyone seems to have accepted that Kitty is the greatest, will do what she wants, and she's always right (or as we call it, routine--I'm really sick of that phrase). So there's less fighting about what Kitty does and more support so it can get done. This is good because there are so many characters now that we can't waste time arguing about Kitty being in danger.

If you're a fan, stop reading this and go get the book. You'll love it. If you're new to the series, stop reading this and pick up Touched by an Alien.

Really good, too bad I couldn't read it in one setting but over small reading periods.. but Cliff was finally dealt with and Earth joined the intergalactic world so cool!! Kitty kicks ass as usual ❤️ and has found her own FLOTUS power aka put up the paw and silence follows again cool! Cool how she handled the world leaders and now apparently is Big Queenie 😂 / Queen regent of Earth 🌏 again so COOL 😎
Really liked it but my interest was on and off due to my studies so couldn't deep read it in one setting sadly. Perhaps I need to re-read it..

So many twists, so many turns, so many aliens and so many hotties! I loved this book as much as all the others and enjoyed seeing how much the world has and is changing since Kitty joined Alpha Centaurion. I some concerns for the next book simply because so many lose ends were tied up in this book it gives me a little trepidation over what is going to be thrown at Kitty and the gang next. And by the way, can we make Jeff our president?

Love this series!

Kitty has come a long way since book one, and she’s grabbed the AC’s along for the ride. Can’t give any specifics without spoiling previous books, but sufficed to say, this sci-fi (urban) fantasy series has been so much fun. Their adventures have been out of this world at times, and even when stuck on good ol’ terra firma, it been fast paced and action packed.

Never disappoints

I love her stories and this is no exception. She lets her imagination run rampant and takes her readers along for the ride. Every story is an exciting thrill ride with unexpected turns and twists, like a literary roller coaster. Gini Koch is my favorite theme park engineer.
