Sedekah bukan sahaja berbentuk kewangan dan harta benda. Bahkan sedekah mencakupi aspek tenaga, usaha, tindakan, ketelusan dan ketulusan dalam usaha melebarkan manfaat buat diri, masyarakat serta umat manusia.
Sabda Rasulullah SAW yang bermaksud, “Setiap kebaikan dan kebajikan itu adalah sedekah.” Inilah prinsip yang mesti dipegang oleh setiap Muslim agar setiap detik kehidupan itu terus-menerus diberi ganjaran pahala yang besar di sisi Allah. Ingatlah, derma daripada seorang yang sedikit hartanya lebih besar ganjarannya daripada derma individu yang banyak hartanya. Lalu, apa lagi alasan kita sebagai Muslim? Bersedekahlah sebelum sampai nyawa di kerongkong.…Adakah si kaya ini gila kerana mendermakan wang yang begitu banyak? Ataupun kita yang mabuk dengan pencarian wang secara mementingkan diri tanpa sebarang pemberian?
Ustaz Zaharuddin Abdul Rahman obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Usul-ad Din from Malaya University, Malaysia and Master's Degree in Fiqh and Usul al Fiqh from University of Yarmouk, Jordan. He graduated as one of the top students from the master's program. In the past, he used to serve the nation in various positions: as a Shari'ah Executive at Ingress Corporation Berhad, a research Fellow in one of the academic research centers, the Senior Shari'ah Compliance Manager at RHB Islamic Bank Berhad, as well as the Head of Shari'ah at Asian Finance Islamic Bank Investment, Trinidad, Deutsche Islamic Bank Berhad,Malaysia, Yasmin Holdings and many more.
In the beginning of October 2007, he joined the College of Economics and Management of the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) as one of the teaching staff. He is currently (2008-2011) pursuing his doctorate degree in Syariah and Islamic Finance at Unversity of Wales, UK under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mawill Izzidien, a Muslim scholar from Iraq.
As for his writing development, he is one of the columnists of Sunday Metro, Solusi, and the i-Magazine, as well as the editor of the Iktisad magazine. Furthermore, he used to reach out to the public in discussing various issues on Shari'ah, economics and Islamic banking through different channels such as the Ikim.fm, TV9 and RTM.
