Nummi has written and directed several films. His book Kadonnut pariisi was awarded the J. H. Erkko prize for the best debut novel in 1995 and was also shortlisted for other awards. His later novel Käräjät was also very well received.
Nummi has also written articles, short stories, essays, columns, and film reviews for several magazines and other publications.
