After I finished That Someday, my first thought was, can we get more Damon and Ainsley books? I mean, their story ended perfectly, but I still want more of them! I’m hoping we get more of them in future books. I never want the ‘That Boy’ series to end. I love this world and the Mackenzie/Diamond families.
Damon and Ainsley have had a connection from the start. They’ve been through a lot in the short time they’ve been together, but over and over again, it’s obvious that they are meant to be. I loved that the big secret that was in the first two books was out the entire time, and we could just bask in their romance. Sigh. Damon Diamond might be my favorite Dodd hero. I just adored him! He loved Ainsley so much.
Honestly, this book was perfect for me. There was nothing in it I didn’t love. It kept a smile on my face from start to finish, and that is what I want in a romance. I want to feel good, feel happy, and feel the love between the main characters. Jillian Dodd brought out all those happy feels with just a bit of drama and angst to keep it interesting! This book was fantastic for me, and I highly recommend it!

I really enjoyed the final installment of Damon and Ainsley’s story. It was heartwarming to see how much Damon’s friends cared about him and were willing to protect and support him. Ainsley is truly fortunate to have someone as devoted, caring, and protective as Damon by her side.

This book made me laugh and cry so much!! It was a beautiful continuation of Ainsley and Damon’s love story as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives, a baby! The love and support, and family and friends written into this story make it worthwhile! The descriptions of the food and places made it feel like I was tight there with them too! Highly recommend taking a chance on this love story come full circle. And the epilogue is the cherry on top!

That opening? Damon walking into graduation ready to celebrate and instead getting hit with the kind of news that changes everything? I felt that shock in my bones. Ainsley being seven months pregnant—and him having no idea—immediately set the tone for something intense, emotional, and impossible to put down.
But what made this hit even harder was the reason behind it. Ainsley didn’t keep this from him to be cruel—she did it because she loves him so much she was willing to carry that weight alone. And that kind of sacrifice? It hurts. In the best, most gut-wrenching way.
And Damon? OBSESSED.
The way he goes from blindsided to completely locked in on her and their daughter… the protectiveness, the tension, the need to be close to her after everything he missed—it was giving mine, always mine energy and I ate it up. Every look, every touch, every moment between them felt charged.

I LOVE sports romances and a few years ago I came across the That Boy series by Jillian Dodd. I devoured That Boy, the first book in the series, and eagerly got my paws on the next books in the series as soon as I could! These books are typically classified in the New Adult and College or sports romance genres because most of the main characters are college students and several of them are usually athletes. I love Jillian Dodd’s writing style in these books because she makes most of her characters likable and funny, not to mention relatable. That being said, when I saw that The Someday was being released this summer, I couldn't wait to dive back into the world of the athletes and their girls! When I started reading The Someday, it felt a lot like the other books in the That Boy series. They take place in a small Midwestern town,, full of good-hearted football players and their girlfriends, and are written in a fast-paced manner because of the hilarious dialogue between the characters. In the beginning of this book, there is a dramatic turn of events which cause (I believe) a shift in the typical feel of these books. No longer was the book about college athletes and their comical antics, it was about college students who have to make real-life choices that greatly affect themselves and others. I think That Someday starts out as a typical New Adult book but finishes with more of a mature feel to it, given the circumstances Damon and Ainsley now have, though there are still elements of the New Adult genre in the second half of the book. There were times when I wanted to shout at Ainsley and tell her to stop being so stubborn but that's just her character and in the end, she realizes what she really wants. In summary, I loved That Someday and it made my heart happy to see how the development of the characters unfolds and what they choose to do in their lives. Those familiar with the other That Boy books and who are looking to read The Someday may just want a bit of advanced warning that this book is a bit more serious and mature as the characters deal with some serious life events. Personally, I loved it but I also love books about love and family so That Someday satisfied my desires to read about college life, sports, as well as family. This book can be read as a standalone but I feel you will get more out of it if you read the other books first. I am eager for more! I loved That Someday and recommend reading it, especially if you have read and enjoyed the other books!

Arc review - Jillian Dodd delivered another happily ever with That Someday. As the final book in Damon’s trilogy and the latest book in this incredible series, it gave us romance, growth, family, and a satisfying conclusion while reminding us why we’ve fallen in love with these characters over the years.
What I appreciated most was that Damon and Ainsley found a way forward together without any more secrets between them and while forging a future where they don’t have to lose sight of who they are as individuals. I loved that neither of them had to sacrifice their own dreams and aspirations to be together. Instead, they found a way to support one another while continuing to pursue the futures they each envisioned. That’s the kind of love story I enjoy reading.
Sidebar, I also have to give Chase some credit. Yes, he acted a little immature, but underneath it all, his actions came from a place of genuine concern for his best friend. His protectiveness over Damon showed just how deep their friendship runs, and I appreciated seeing that loyalty, even when it wasn’t expressed perfectly. Their brotherhood has always been one of my favorite parts of this series.
I loved the glimpse into the lives of some of our past beloved characters and hope the story of these families continue, especially since this book introduces the first of the next, next generation!
While this beautifully wraps up Damon’s trilogy, I’m sincerely hoping it isn’t the end of this universe. I would absolutely love a future book where we get to see Damon and Ainsley, along with Chase and Dani, raising their kids together the way their own parents did. Watching those lifelong friendships continue into the next generation would be the perfect continuation of a series that’s always been about love, family, friendship, and finding your people.

You guys!! I have loved all of Jillian Dodd's books and I have been so excited to finish Damon and Ainsley's story. There is something so wholesome about the That Boy series that I've read it a couple of times because I love it so much.
Ainsley is older than Damon by a couple of years but that doesn't stop this Golden Retriever of a man going after what he wants. When Damon first saw Ainsley around the age of 15, he knew that she was his forever. Flash forward to now, they've been dating but Damon is starting his first year of Collegiate football. He is warned to stay focused and have no scandals.
After the best summer of their lives and Ainsley finds out she's pregnant. She doesn't want to distract Damon from football, especially after what his coach said. She decides to keep her pregnancy a secret until after she graduates from college. Thinking Damon can't make it to her graduation, she plans to drive to him after and tell him. Damon ends up surprising her and also get a surprise of his own. Ainsley with a pregnant belly and being 7 months along.
I love that Damon takes the time to listen to Ainsley and talk her through the situation. Most men around the age of 18 would fly off the handle and make some serious accusations. It goes to show that Damon is wise beyond his years and is ready for what lies ahead of them. Damon and Ainsley have to deal with long distance for the remainder of her pregnancy and work on their relationship from a distance. I love that when Jillian Dodds characters commit, they are committed to their significant other!

That Someday by Jillian Dodd picks up right where That Girl left off, with Damon and Ainsley finally having their pregnancy out in the open. I really liked that Damon wasn’t angry or hurt that Ainsley kept it from him for eight months. Instead, he just accepted it and focused on being there for her and their baby. Most of the conflict came from their family and friends reacting to the secret, which added a lot of tension.
I really enjoyed this book and loved seeing Damon step up the way he did. His support for Ainsley was one of my favorite parts, and it made their relationship feel stronger even with everything they were facing.
My biggest issue was the pacing. Most of the book takes place over about two and a half weeks in December, and because this is the last book for Damon and Ainsley, the ending felt rushed to me. I really wanted to see more of what happened after the baby was born—how they handled living apart, Damon balancing school and football, and how they made their relationship and family work through all of that.
The ending makes it clear that their time apart wasn’t easy, but we don’t actually get to see much of it. I just wish there had been more of their life after those two and a half weeks because I feel like that would have made their ending feel more complete.

Damon was never more right when he first told Ainsley that she would be the mother of his kids and his future wife. This book picks up right where we left off and the first part is true but Damon will make sure the second part comes true someday. We have it all from love and laughter to drama and tears.

So we have reached the end of Damon's and Ainsley's story. Damon found out the big secret that Ainsley was keeping from him in Book 2, so this book picks up from there. He is understandably upset, but I felt the confrontation was realistic and they were both able to express their feelings.
Overall, love prevails as it should. Ainsley gets ready for her dream job while Damon prepares for his college playoffs. They work hard along with their families to make things work. Although they will logistically be living separate lives, they do remain committed and active in each other. I did like the world building as these characters live a lifestyle that I can only dream about.
"I realize someday isn't ahead of me anymore. It's officially arrived."
Overall an entertaining story and a sweet ending.

Damon and Ainsley have to figure out what they want. Ainsley is older than him but that doesn't stop him when he knows what he wants is her. He has always wanted her from the first time he saw her as a teenager.
Ainsley finds out she is expecting a baby. Damon is a football player and needs to focus on his game. She decides to keep the baby a secret until after his graduation. They will have to navigate how the baby will affect their future.

This is the third book of a trilogy. Ainsley and Damon continue to grow and figure out life while navigating having a baby. Damon and Ainsley have to juggle many things such as as living apart to get to the ultimate end goal-being together at the end of everything. Ainsley does not want Damon to give up his dream of playing football, but she also has her own goals in mind. Their focus and dedication to each other and their career goals is evident throughout the novel. It is so amazing to see how Damon treats Ainsley with respect and such care. He truly loves her. You can just feel it in Jillian Dodd's words. This is what people dream about in real life. I am looking forward to seeing Damon and Ainsley's relationship grow in future books in the That Boy Series. I am already waiting for the next book/couple! I can never get enough!

🦋 💕 Oh my gosh, I can’t believe this is the end of Damon and Ainsley’s story! From the moment I set foot in this captivating world of That Boy Series, I have been in love. It always feels like “coming home.” It’s definitely one of my comfort series. I feel like I am part of the Diamond and Mackenzie’s family after reading all of the different characters’ life stories, and Jillian does such an amazing job of creating the most memorable storylines.
Damon is so madly in love with Ainsley that he would do anything to make their relationship work while both going to different schools, playing football, and having an unexpected pregnancy.
I truly wish this would become a TV adaptation; it is so easy to instantly fall in love with these characters!

I truly can't get enough of this series. Every time a new book in the series comes out, I can't wait to read where the next two characters are going with their lives and how things will pan out. There is always some small struggles in the characters' lives and I always wonder what they will do to get through it, and this was no different. The journey that Damon and Ainsley are ones not easy, but their relationship holds strong (even against the small backlash from friends/family when they don't approve of how long Ainsley waited to tell Damon about the pregnancy). I really feel like I am part of this family with watching how things continue to develop. Main characters from That Boy are still mentioned and appearances are made, which I find to be amazing. The author truly makes sure to not leave behind the three that started this whole journey for us readers.

Ainsley goes to a doctor's appointment and he sends her to the hospital. Jayden sends the jet to get Damon and Chase and Dani leave with him.Summer is born after a worrisome labor. Damon and Ainsley's house is built and they are doing a walk through where Damon is showing her some of the "tweaks" he has made. This book was so cute! I absolutely loved the ending, and as you know, we will be getting more books in the series, but I am not sure if Damon and Ainsley are getting another book or not. This one was wrapped up pretty well; I am love that the baby was born on my birthday! I love all of the talk of Kansas City as that is where I am from! I definitely thought it was nice that Ainsley's dad is seeking the help that he needs.
Haley and Daine? Are they the next couple or is she destined for someone else?

This is the third and final book in this amazing trilogy, and this story continues straight on from the ending in the second book.
Damon a college football star, heads out to surprise Ainsley, but he is the one that is surprised, as he finds her 7-months pregnant, which she kept to herself as she knew he would have sacrificed everything for her.
This is a well written easy to read story, with family, friendships, emotions, making choices, sacrifices, secrets, trust, revelations, humour, witty banter, soulmates, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, college romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Oh what an end to a beautiful love story with definitely a whole lots of turns! I really enjoyed Damon and Ainsley’s story right from the start with That Crush then That Girl and now with That Someday, we see the culminating moments and build up of love, sacrifice and acceptance. When you make a decision out of selflessness and just want to see the other person do well and the joy of seeing it being reciprocated back to you 🥹 ooh so sweet! I definitely recommend reading from book 1 if you haven’t already but yes That Someday is a well written addition to the series. 💯 This book made me realize that sometimes mistakes can turn into blessings if we just give it a chance 🥰

Friends! @jilliandodd has a new book! That Someday is out now and is book 3 of Damon and Ainsley’s story! I have loved this series (this is the series that really got me back into reading romance a few years ago) and I love that we are getting the kids books now. This is a standalone but you are going to want to have read the other books in the series so you can fully appreciate these fun characters! Damon is such a good guy..you will fall right in love with him. Ainsley is definitely his soulmate and their universe is very fun. Of course it’s always fun to see all the other characters we love. This is a great ending to their trilogy. Read it!

I have always loved all of Jillian's books and this one was no different. However, this was not my favorite of her books. For me, there was just something missing and I can't quite put my finger on it.
This was the final book in Damon and Ainsley's chapter and it left off right where the last book ended. I love Damon and Ainsley and their relationship. I love how supportive everyone around them is. I have been reading Jillian's books since the Keatyn Chronicles and Damon is my favorite MMC that she has ever written. He handles everything so maturely and with so much grace and poise which contributes to him having very good people in his life.

I have read all the other books in this series and they’ve all been solid 3 stars for me. Easy reads, cute stories, good writing. I was excited for this one especially with the cliffhanger at the end of the last book. I’m literally 36 pages into this and I’m truly just like wtf. The dialogue is awful. It literally sounds like AI wrote it (I’m not accusing any one of anything) but it’s literally so clinical and uninspired and I couldn’t see a single person actually having a conversation like the ones on this book. I am trying so hard to not DNF but I’m already about to pull my hair out with how bad it is.

July 9, 2026That Someday was such an enjoyable read! Jillian Dodd created characters that were easy to connect with, and I found myself invested in their journey from beginning to end. The romance felt heartfelt, the pacing kept me turning the pages, and the emotional moments were balanced beautifully with lighter ones.
Without giving anything away, I was completely satisfied with the story overall. My only wish is that there had been a little more of an epilogue or glimpse into the couple's future. After becoming so attached to them, I would have loved to spend a bit more time seeing what life looked like for them beyond the ending.

That Someday was the perfect conclusion to Damon and Ainsley's story. Damon is one of the most devoted, caring, and protective heroes I've read, and seeing the love and support from his family and friends made this story even more meaningful.
Jillian Dodd does a wonderful job balancing romance, humor, and just enough drama to keep the pages turning.
