The Identity Project

Rate this book
Most people know just enough of their identity to get by. College degrees, jobs and even relationships are decided upon with with only a slight notion of who we are. Patrick Dodson thinks we need to paint a better picture of our future with a much broader pallet. The Identity Project is a guide / journal designed to enlarge your understanding of the spiritual, social and personal identity you possess. Instead of narrowing you down to a few letters on a quadrant, or a few more strengths, The Identity Project builds on whatever you've learned so far and adds a totally different approach to personal development. As you go through the practical set of ideas and questions inside, The Identity Project acts as a journal to gather your own wide-ranging list of identity statements and values. It also provides a structure for you to build on this list by writing a whole new story about your future. This book works best with a friend or two who are keen to focus on identity and the future you can create with it.

Content was great, thought-provoking, and in the end, life changing. However, the material could have been seriously condensed into a much more concise book. The length and redundancy made it difficult to trudge through at the end, which is unfortunate, as the later sections of the book provided a great deal of application. Overall, the book may be closer to four starts, but I just can't get over my aforementioned complaints.
