A great chic lit read! A real page turner that you’ll find difficult to put down. It’s the second in the Marrying Mr Darcy series published by Carina UK.

Gemma has married her rock star- but can he really overcome his old ways? She sees photographs of him catching a plane with a young pop star and thinks he’s back to cheating again. So she feels justified in a flirtation of her own with an ex boyfriend Jack. Will it be easy to walk away?

I enjoyed the character portrayals and different perspectives. It was a really fun read and can’t wait for the next one in the series.

Many thanks to Carina Uk and Net Galley for a copy of this book.

Having read all of Katie's other books, I was looking forward to this one and what a surprise, a good one, it was. Whereas Ms. Oliver's books are mainly mainstream chicklit, as the titles suggest, this had more the feel of a newly invented genre - chicklit meets thriller. Not many chicklit books feature arms dealers and mafia bosses! It was fantastic to visit old friends again, although I did find Gemma's inability to see the good in her husband a little bit irritating, even if he was a rock star with a terrible track record and is cosying up to a sexy pop starlet. The sub plots were good, with several red herrings. I was surprised at the presence of Turkish gangs in the novel and there were a few huge shocks, not least who Jack's family were, and there was even a bit of gang related violence. That said, there was plenty for the chicklit lover to enjoy, but this book seemed more women's fiction to me than the others, rather than pure chicklit, and it wasn't a bad thing. It dealt with some serious issues, from how to deal with an errant teenage daughter to blended families, from abusive partners to gambling and abduction. The relationships between all of the various characters were well described and multi-layered and the novel was all the richer for it. Jools in particular was very well drawn, and the panic she induced in her parents, I'm sure could be envisaged by any parent. Looking forward to the next in the series.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Carina UK for allowing me to have a review copy of this book. This is my honest review.

Love, Lies and Louboutins picks up where And The Bride Wore Prada leaves off. Gemma is still married to Dominic, and wants a baby, however when she sees headlines suggesting that Dominic has fallen into old patterns, with the latest pop starlet, she reacts badly.

This book sees the reintroduction of Jack Hawkins, as well as his family and their relationships.

The main storyline in Love, Lies and Louboutins, is about Jools and Adesh's kidnapping, and also the story between Gemma, Dominic and Christa (the new popstar).

Jools, is the teenage daughter of Oliver, who is seeing a teacher at Jools school, and Felicity (who is the editor of BritTeen, originally featured in Love and Liability) who is now dating chef Marco Russo.

It was fantastic to see characters that had only been perhaps 1 or 2 books so far, back, and to learn more about them. I loved the plots in this book, and found everything to be incredibly fast paced.

I was so hooked, that I finished this fantastic story in only a few hours. Would have loved there to be more, and I'm really looking forward to book 3 in this fantastic series.

Love, Lies and Louboutins is another brilliant book by Katie Oliver, and I loved reading every second of it.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series - ‘And the Bride Wore Prada’ - in which Gemma married her rockstar husband. Now she is finding it difficult to trust him and is very worried about his relationship with a female rock singer with whom he's recorded a successful duet. Why is he jetting off without his wife and why won't he explain what is happening? When others start making unwanted suggestions her suspicions are fuelled but the truth is much more complicated than she'd ever imagined!

So, I was looking forward to reading this sequel - and I wasn’t disappointed! Katie Oliver writes a brilliant story, blending mystery, rock idols, murder, kidnapping, extortion, arms dealing gangs and, of course, romance into an exhilarating concoction to delight her readers. Whilst it was great to reconnect with many of the characters from the first book, I don’t think it is essential to have read that to enjoy this one, though it may help understand more about Gemma’s relationship to many of the other characters.

Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Love, Lies, and Louboutins, by Katie Oliver, is the second book in the Marrying Mr. Darcy series, picking up right where the first book left off and taking readers on a wild ride.

One thing I really like about Katie Oliver’s books is that there is a large cast of characters and we keep meeting new characters with each book. But, Katie doesn’t use every character in every book so we never feel overwhelmed by plot lines, nor do we get tired of the same characters.

This book is very different from the first book in the series, much in the same way as Oliver’s previous series, Dating Mr. Darcy. There is a lot more fast-paced action, a bit of danger, intrigue, and mystery in the second book, while the first is more about the characters. This is a book that will be difficult to put down (it was for me, I devoted my entire morning to the book, reading from first page to last.)

I love, loved this book and for me it is the best of Oliver's books so far - which is saying something, as I really enjoyed the others. Romance, kidnapping, death threats, temptation, scary scenes, hot moments - this book really has it all. Plus the pace is fast, due to Oliver switching from one character's story to another. This could be tricky to achieve successfully, but Oliver pulls it off seamlessly which means she delivers cliffhanger after cliffhanger. There is an array of likeable and downright despicable characters, each drawn skilfully so that you have a clear image of them in your mind. A fantastic beach read guaranteed to keep you under your parasol, next to your cocktail and sunglasses. Don't go on holiday without it!
