This books main couple is a retired combat veteran struggling with PTSD while helping on a ranch that's main focus is to rescue and rehabilitate horses. She took over her dad's vet office but is struggling between doing what was expected of her and what she has always dreamed of doing. Several heavy topics are discussed. This is the first book in the new series by Debra Chapoton, and a great start indeed. Another family, not blood related, but based on respect and friendship. At Broken Spur Ranch, guarded cowboy Logan McCrae vows to heal Cisco, a skeletal rescue horse—and maybe himself—in just two months. Driven newcomer Tessa Malone isn’t looking for love, but Logan’s devotion stirs something deep. When a ruthless investor threatens the ranch, they must fight for Cisco, the sanctuary, and a chance at love.
Logan is focused on saving Cisco that he isn't quite sure what to do with Tessa. This is a great story of how our attitude can be seen right through by the right person. This is a great story. I loved Logan and Tessa.
