Book III
After listening to the first three stories, I have to say I liked them. On the other hand, maybe I really didn't. You’re not wrong, but then again I'm not sure. But like other books I’ve read there were parts I liked and parts I didn’t. So does that mean I liked it more than I didn’t? On the other hand, it could mean just the opposite. Alternatively, maybe because I listened to the book with my ears rather than reading with my eyes, may have had more of an influence on my like or dislike than I could have imagined. By the same token, maybe reading the text may have a different effect overall?

Knowledge about Those Who Came Before expands as exploration and events occur...
Drake and company have much to do as events conspire to take them in unexpected directions. While the priority is to get the 3 million or so humans down to Atlantis safely, the Authority and the other cities, led by the wife of the incarcerated mobster, attempt to derail the rescue. Drake ponders how they will govern themselves, and how they will protect themselves, though the military of the Grant Hemogeny and some mercanaries may help with some of that...
At the same time, they seek to investigate the artifacts of Those Who Came Before beneath their mansion, as well as beneath the city of Atlantis and some surprises are revealed...
An intriguing tale full of discussion, politics, twists, suspense, action, and more as the race to save those in orbit continues....

Slow and Tedious
Lots and lots of useless introspection by Drake. Pages and pages of descriptive minutia that can just be skimmed over without losing any of the plot line. By far, it is the worst of the series. Maybe 3 stars is too good of a rating. The MCs and supporting characters are still great, so there is that.

A great story
This is the third book in the series and it does not disappoint. It continues to define the main characterizes while adding new personalities. It continues to follow the main theme while adding multiple plots and subplots to hold your interest. It would make a good TV series.

multi-faceted SciFi/whodunnit
Another reviewer complained that the first book contained too much politics and not enough SciFi, and to a certain very small extent he/she had a point, but the non-SciFi stuff still made good reading. This is excellent world building with intriguing non-standard characters. I’m looking forward to keep reading.

I didn't think at the outset that I would enjoy the building of a society. But there are a lot of themes here, pretty much non-political, which are so intriguing. The building of a city is a complicated thing. I still like the characters and there's just enough wry humor to keep me listening.

Not disappointed
Once again, I am not disappointed. The novel was exceptional, and I only caught one misspelled word I can remember. That means a lot for ones like myself that get irked at laziness in writing or editing. Altogether, a fun, exciting, and well written novel. On to the next TWCB mystery and political intrigue. Jess

Which sure beats watching Sci-Fi Movies so much is lost in story telling.

Great new series
I why J N Chaney and Terry Nixon receive the accolades that have. This is one of the best new productions on which they have collaborated .

A great mix of situations where Mixon's writing shines: space opera, military sci-fi, and aliens! Faster paced than book 2. I look forward to the sequel.
