Tristan Johnson is not an easy guy to get to know. He’s quiet, shy, and borderline elusive. That never stopped Samara Cavanaugh from claiming Tristan as her best friend, her tutor, her longtime crush.
She knows Tristan better than anyone. Sam was the one person that Tristan had allowed himself to get close to. But even Sam wasn’t aware of the secrets her best friend had been keeping.
When Sam’s life was in jeopardy Tristan didn’t hesitate to protect her. Now that he’s gone, Sam will do whatever it takes to get him back.
1.5 stars, maybe. I really expected more character and plot development from a second book. I feel like I simply read a series of events without a clearly defined greater purpose. The story felt short and flat. I was also really annoyed with how repetitive the beginning was, continually reiterating facts and ideas from the first book more than once.
Maybe it's just me, but this book seemed extremely short. It was also slow paced and boring. Everything was a little too convenient and a little too easy. After all the drama about Tristan and Jude's body getting possessed, I would've thought this book would be a little more entertaining. But nope. Everything worked out absolutely perfectly. And the third book will most likely be heavily focused in Tristan and his newfound family. No thanks. I don't care for Tristan at all. Maybe it's because of his lack of personality and his lack of character depth. Creating a character with family baggage does not equal character depth, people! But I can't be too hard on Tristan. Character depth is something all of them lacked.
Interesting. The story continues and the pace is a little slower. There were more politics, and reveals. A lot of worry over what others would do. I liked it, but it was definitely the in between book.
