⭐️ 3 ⭐️ She’s a reporter, he’s her assignment. From heartbreak to blurred lines, Connors writes a messy and complicated second chance romance full of emo music and millennial nostalgia, real conversation and relatable concerns. It’s great in a sense that it’s light with a HEA but it also shows how sometimes we have to put ourselves before others.
Sloane Donovan is a journalist/writer in the music industry. Dax Nakamura is half Black, half Japanese and 6 feet tall (OBVIOUSLY). They dated only for a month but Sloane broke it off because she put herself and her career first. She didn’t want to give up her big life plans and her future for a guy. She knew her mother gave up her life plans when she married her father, so Sloane didn’t want to follow in her mother’s footsteps. But Sloane was never able to get over Dax, he was it for her. Even after three years, he was everything to her and they were both pinning after each other.
MySpace and Mapquest!!? Hello 2010s when life was all about a good time. I remember those days so clearly—the culture of that era, the music, the friends, just so many references brought back so many memories. That was probably the best and my most favorite part of the book.
The romancing aspect? Not my favorite & nothing we haven’t read. It’s just not how I envision second chances. They were like alley cats, sizing each other up the first 30% but then they gave into their feelings and tension too quickly for my liking. I wanted more build up, more yearning, more shameless flirting. I did however enjoy their dense and very open conversation. I particularly liked how driven Sloane was despite being young. She carried that “head on her shoulders” vibe and if you know me, there is nothing more that will please me than a STRONG female character.
I also felt that the book lacked insight into Dax’s development/character because we never get to see their past. We get a lot of info from interview style chapters but never see their story from a different lens. This created a bit of a gap for me in their relationship and I had a hard time understanding his side of things.

Still Into You feels like those beautiful lyrics you just can’t stop thinking about. Like a song with searing guitars and pounding drums that you can’t get out of your head. Like a mind-blowing concert that keeps you awake at night, adrenaline still rushing through your veins. This story is so good it earned a spot on my most favorite 2025 shelf.
It’s a romance, a rockstar one, and it feels like we’re right there at the gigs, watching the love story between Sloane and Dax unfold. I smiled so much while reading, even during the angstier parts. The way Sloane and Dax fell for each other a second time and the chemistry that jumped off the page? Top-notch.
And can we talk about Dax, the frontman of Final Revelations? Think Måneskin, only in 2010, with a Black-Asian heartthrob who could make anyone forget their wedding vows. I know I’m happily married, but oh boy, did I love Dax.
I don’t want to say a lot more, just that if you love a second-chance romance without a third-act breakup, full of swooning, yearning, and so much chemistry, this story is for you.

Let me start by saying this book is Fernanda catnip. Second chance romance, the music industry, a rockstar mmc that is in a band, a fmc on the asexual spectrum(demi), excerpts of interviews AND talk of trauma and mental health. It’s like Erin Connor took a trip inside my brain and gave me exactly my type of book.
If you like music I can’t stress this enough you NEED to read this book.
I love Still Into You so much that I can’t write a good review because I have nothing to say except this is fantastic. The writing? Great. The characters? Love them all. The romance? Couldn’t get enough of it. The music industry stuff? Perfect. Give me 500 more pages and I’ll read it.
Long story short just read this book and thank me later.

∞⭐ -- Erin Connor might have delivered one of my favorite romances ever. It’s a pitch perfect rom-com on the surface, but underneath that swoony exterior it’s an exploration of music, ambition, and what it actually costs to chase your dreams.
At its core, this story isn’t just about romantic love. In many ways, the central love story is about devotion to art. The romance between Sloane and Dax is powerful, but it’s fueled by something deeper, a shared, all consuming love of music. Connor digs into what it means to be an artist, the sacrifices you justify, the compromises you regret, and the resilience it takes to build the life you want. The highs feel euphoric. The lows feel earned.
Sloane is one of the most likable FMCs I’ve read in a long time. She is sharp, self aware, joyful, and vulnerable in a way that feels real. Dax could have easily been reduced to the tortured musician stereotype, but Connor gives him depth. He is not just a broody love interest. He is a layered character wrestling with very real demons, and his growth feels intentional and hard won.
You can feel Connor’s deep love for music, especially the metal scene, on every page, and weaving that through the journalism angle makes the story even stronger. Watching the band’s history unfold through Sloane’s article and seeing how her journey mirrors Dax’s through different wounds and pressures is just as compelling as the romance itself. Their relationship feels like the natural result of two artists learning to fight for themselves first, which ultimately makes their love story even more powerful.

Still Into You follows Sloane, a freelance music journalist who is hoping her next assignment will land her a full-time position, and Dax, her ex-boyfriend and the lead singer of the popular metal band, Final Revelations. When Sloane is offered the chance to interview the band for the first time in almost a decade, she knows she has to take up the job even if it puts her in danger of falling for Dax again.
This was such a beautifully written romance! The story is absolutely swimming in nostalgia and yearning. I loved how Dax and Sloane came together, and their romance was steeped around friendship and mutual respect. Their connection was so bone deep and just perfectly layered in pining and all the emotion one could want. Aside from the romance, all the interview excerpts and music industry scenes were completely fleshed out and added the perfect amount of depth to the plot. With its tender moments, all the found family, and so much 2000s nostalgia, this second chance romance is well worth the read.

In some ways, this felt like a second chance romance that was written exactly for me and what I love. It centers on Sloane, an aspiring music journalist, and Dax, a rockstar, who had a hot and heavy summer three years ago, but broke up so that Sloane could follow her career dreams. Now, three years later, they are both in Cleveland and trying to figure out what they can and should be.
You will probably like this book if you like:

I am a stickler with second romances. I feel like 1) the reason they broke up can’t be silly or insurmountable and 2) when they get back together, I have to believe things have changed enough that they won’t just be repeating old partners. And this one passed both tests for me! The reason they broke up was legit and they both are different enough people three years later that I was genuinely rooting for them to get back together.
The first third of the book was filled with so much tension that I felt it VISCERALLY. They are circling each other, trying to figure out if there are feelings there and if they should rehash the past. And I felt like I was going to EXPLODE. It takes a lot for me to actually feel my heart in my stomach so kudos to the writing. From there, they did start to figure things out (even if they are still kind of nebulous) and it was so juicy and steamy and fun. That being said, there isn’t a ton of conflict until well into the third act. That worked perfectly for me because again, I thought I was going to keel over from the first third and needed that reprieve. I also love an MMC who knows what he wants and isn’t going to waste time. This wasn’t a “will they or won’t they” for too long. It was a “HOW will they” which my little brain that loves certainty loved.
And I am a certified dual timeline hater. I think it is super hard to do well because if you spend half the time in the past, you are getting less time in the present to show why their relationship would work now. This book did not have a dual timeline. Any descriptions of their past relationship was briefly alluded to. But even as a dual timeline hater, I would have loved a few longer allusions to what happened in the past (what I wouldn't give to see their first kiss).
I loved the interview transcript aspects. The book is through Sloane’s POV so the transcripts were a nice way to get to know Dax and the band. And I just love texts, emails, transcripts, anything like that in a book.
There were a few phrases or parts that felt repetitive (I beg Sloane to do anything beyond touching the scar on her ring finger - think about the scar, look down on it, remember tasting the blood from the scar in her mouth, truly anything else). It became a tad distracting at times.
All of that being said, I really enjoyed this book and Erin Connor is now an autoread author for me. And Dax is a new fave book boyfriend.

Nothing upsets me more than not liking a book that many of my friends love—and unfortunately, this is exactly one of those cases.
I’ve read almost half of the book and felt nothing toward the characters. More than that, I didn’t feel any strong romantic connection between them either. We’re only told that they were together for one month three years ago, but why didn’t the author show us those moments? Second chance is one of my favorite tropes, but I really need a dual timeline to believe that the love between the characters actually existed.
The book also felt chaotic to me. I kept getting confused about the years, the time jumps were constant, and there were so many side characters from different bands that I kept mixing up who was who. It felt like the bands and the music were more in the foreground than the relationship between the main characters.

Sloan and Dax were adorable, full-stop. They met and had a summer fling three years prior during a summer festival tour and haven't seen or spoken to each other since. That changes when Dax's very big metal band chooses Sloan to write their first interview in eight years. Soon the two are 'forced' to spend time together and not only hide their past history, but hide their reconciling relationship.
Dax was so cute. He's this tattooed and pierced metal front-man but is so soft when he's with Sloan. I loved how even when he was trying to take things slow and not spook her off he wasn't shy about his affection or feelings. He constantly feeds and takes care of her! He still has a heart next to her name in his phone! I really loved how open they both were with each other, about their struggles and insecurities. They just understood each other so well
I also thought the relationship was just fleshed out so well. We're not given any flashbacks to their prior summer romance, it's only ever really seen in Sloan's recollections. But it feels like we're given enough- mentions of how they grew so close and quickly became all-consuming. The tension and angst are also so evident when they start to reconnect in the present, that you can just feel the unfinished history between these two.

here's the thing, if you give me a forced proximity, second chance, musician romance, there's absolutely no way i'm not going to love it. truly erin connor hit it out of the park with her sophomore novel!! the yearning in this !!! the pining!!! the emotion!! it's toooooo good. dax & sloane are so perfect for each other it's not even funny. i could feel their chemistry & their connection with each other even after everything that happened. i thought the way they came to love each other again was SO PRECIOUS!!
another thing i adored about this book is the found family !!! the way the band found each other, supported each other through it all and became each other's rock? the way sloane fits into that? 🥹🥹🥹🥹
i really enjoyed learning about dax's band and how everything came to be -- definitely gave elements of daisy jones & the six but in it's own unique way. sloane being a journalist and finding her voice was so well captured. as a former journalist, i can testify that there truly are some stories that you struggle to write after holding interviews because there are a million different directions you could go and how are you supposed to decide???? erin did an incredible job capturing that back and forth until the epiphany hits you.

They have a history and though she broke his heart, he trusts her to tell the story. Sloane knows her editor wants gossip and secrets. She will have to juggle the expectations of both her boss and Dax as well as make decisions on her own future.
🎧 I read both an ebook and audiobook. The narration is full cast performances by Karissa Vacker, William DeMerritt, Donald Chang, James Fouhey, Robb Moreira, and Greg Chun. While the past is clearly posted under a bold headline with the year in the ebook, it’s a little harder to follow in the audiobook. The full cast did make it easy to track the different characters as the story progressed. The audiobook has a liveliness that is a bonus.
Second chance to fall back in love. Maybe with time, it’s easier to identify and act on the important things you really want.
A bit of angst and nostalgia through the music scene of a devotee.

🎧 I read both an ebook and audiobook. The narration is full cast performances by Karissa Vacker, William DeMerritt, Donald Chang, James Fouhey, Robb Moreira, and Greg Chun. While the past is clearly posted under a bold headline with the year in the ebook, it’s a little harder to follow in the audiobook. The full cast did make it easy to track the different characters as the story progressed. The audiobook has a liveliness that is a bonus.
Second chance to fall back in love. Maybe with time, it’s easier to identify and act on the important things you really want.
A bit of angst and nostalgia through the music scene of a devotee.

This book is every emo kid’s romantic anthem. This book gave me so many deep emotional resonances, like it hit so many of my own lived memories!

Erin poured so much love into this book about the hardcore music scene, and it shows! As someone who has been in the scene since I was a middle schooler, I felt every bit of this beautiful story. From the moments spent in a circle pit or a wall of death, to the feeling you get standing in the middle of a crowd of people at a show screaming the lyrics to your favorite song while being shoved by the person next to you. To the nights spent in underground basements watching your favorite band perform in such an intimate, grungy setting! It all felt so authentic.
And the way Erin wrote those moments is a huge reason why I fell in love with this book so quickly. She captures every feeling so perfectly. The adrenaline. The chaos. The belonging. The healing that somehow only loud music and shared lyrics can bring.
Dax is such a heartbreaking reflection of so many incredible artists who have battled so much within the hardcore music scene. And Sloane giving him a voice, when other news articles only captured the negative parts of him was so beautifully done. Watching her see the man behind the headlines and reputation was just so well done!!

The banter between these two was absolutely my favorite part. It felt effortless and familiar. And getting to read this book in single POV only added to the level of angst felt between these two! These characters are raw! And so well written! Each battling their own challenges while finding their place in the world's they have fought to be in! Dax with his music career and Sloane with her journalist career! I loved how human these two felt! Dax was every music crush I've ever had brought life! When Sloane says... "My competency kink is thriving." My gosh did I feel that!
I will be recommending this book to every person I can! I adored this book! And it will forever be branded on my heart! It honestly feels like a soul book for me! If you were an early-2000s alternative rock fangirl with a Tumblr account, a dramatic side part, and at least one pair of striped tights in your closet… this romance is basically written for you. Still Into You by Erin Connor feels like a love letter to that era of music, fandom, and messy, emotional nostalgia. Even the title feels like a wink to Paramore fans - i.e., their latest song release after nearly a decade hiatus, 'Still Into You'!!
One of the most fun aspects of the book is the storytelling style. It blends interviews and storytelling in a way that feels similar to the documentary-style format of Daisy Jones & the Six. It almost reads like a modern epistolary novel, and it gives the story a layered, reflective feel that works especially well for a second-chance romance.
The overall vibe felt very young, nostalgic, and emotional in the best way. There’s something so compelling about the idea of seeing someone again after years apart and realizing those feelings never really left. That emotional “twin flame” energy - intense but less toxic than a Megan Fox/MGK relationship - is really what makes the story work.

Still, if you love nostalgic music culture, emotional reconnections, and a story that feels like flipping through old band photos and Tumblr posts, this one is a really fun ride.

Still Into You by Erin Conner felt like it was written for the girls who built their entire personalities around music. As an elder emo who spent every extra dollar and free moment on concert and festival tickets, I knew I had to read this. I drove across the country for shows, slept in cars at rest stops because hotel money meant fewer tickets, and followed one of my favorite bands around for a summer. Music wasn’t a hobby. It was the point.
I never wanted to be a music journalist like Sloane, but I understood her instantly. Music meant everything to me and my friends too. We skipped meals to buy CDs. We recorded songs off the radio onto cassette tapes and begged the DJ not to talk over the intro. We were band and choir nerds, so music wasn’t just something we listened to… it was something we lived. I can still tie specific songs and albums to exact moments in my life, and this book nails that feeling.
My only hesitation going in was the second-chance romance trope, which usually isn’t my thing. But Erin absolutely made it work. And most importantly: no cheating (thank god). This was about timing, growth, and real life getting in the way. Any millennial will recognize Sloane’s grind of having to “pay your dues” while living through all the ways our timelines got shoved back. Dream jobs, houses, stability… delayed, at best. But it built a truly resilient generation of people.
I loved Sloane’s relationship with her band friends and I loved finally meeting her brothers. As someone with only brothers, that dynamic felt painfully accurate. I also appreciated that Erin didn’t spell it out, but it’s clear both Sloane and Dax waited for each other. She needed space to finish college and start her journalism career. Dax needed time to clean up his act. Neither was perfect, but they were absolutely perfect for each other.
The ending sealed it for me. No babies. No wedding. No engagement. Just Dax singing to Sloane at his band’s last show. She was under a spotlight in the pit she hated because “it might break her nose”. Intimate. Emotional. Completely on brand.
“And we’ll keep doing things together and building a life because the details of it don’t really matter to me as long as it’s us.”
This isn’t just a romance. It’s a love letter to music, missed timing, and the dreams that take way longer than promised. I loved every second of it and cannot wait for the audiobook on release day.

First off, this was a really cute story, and high school/college Afton would have absolutely eaten this up. Second-chance romances are usually tough for me, but I appreciated the way this one was handled.
That said, I never quite felt the chemistry between the characters, either romantically or within their individual storylines, which made it harder for me to fully connect. One highlight for me was the audiobook experience - I loved the moments where the band breaks in with little tidbits, which added a fun and unique layer to the storytelling.
Overall, a sweet read with some charming elements, even if it didn’t completely click for me.

Still Into You by author Erin Connor is the second chance romance of my dreams which offers the perfect amount of nostalgia that will leave you yearning for an era that has long since passed. The way this book has made me feel should be criminal in the way that I found myself checking my period tracking app to verify if I’m emotionally stable enough to carry on reading. This story is written with nothing but heart with its exploration into emotional depth, vulnerability and authenticity in a way that will that will leave you reeling in the aftermath. The uncertainty and fear that is at the root of our two main characters offers enough stakes to grip you into their clutches and an unwillingness to accept nothing less than a well-earned happily ever after. The exploration of mental illness, imposter syndrome, burn out and the demisexuality representation brought tears to my eyes on multiple occasions in my shock at how seen, heard and understood that it has made me feel. The hard-hitting topics addressed throughout this book are written beautifully in a manner that masterfully highlights their significance without feeling too heavy to handle. The found family elements were strong and added the perfect opening to explore deeper into the depths of our two main characters in a way that felt natural, and ultimately there is not a single thing that I could nitpick about this book. Okay, maybe one thing and that would have been a Dax POV… but that’s just me being greedy in that it would have elevated an already perfect book even higher for me.
Sloane Donovan was such a wonderful narrator to follow throughout her uncertain journey towards love as she learns to overcome the heartbreaking doubt and insecurity that plagues her brilliant mind. I really enjoyed getting to see a fierce woman such as Sloane learn how to command a space and learn how to utilise her authoritative voice in a male-dominated workspace. Her unwillingness to sacrifice her integrity and the determination she showcases to write the article that feels like a true and honest reflection to the band (and friends) that she loves was admirable. I loved getting to see these little snippets to her personality be revealed in fragments that helped to create a clearer picture as time continued to progress. Her openness and recognition of her sexuality was such a delight to me that I will yearn to see time and again in the books that I read. Part of what makes Sloane such a rich character for me was the wonderful groups of people that she surrounds herself with as we get the chance to see something new to her every single time. Her friendship group and their banter-filled dynamics was such a delight to witness and I adored the way that we got to witness a lighter Sloane who felt less burdened. Her closeness with her family, her father and one brother in particular, had me feeling emotional and I loved getting to see the trust that Sloane places in confiding to them when she’s struggling. Sloane is a character who feels deeply to the point that she almost seems to overwhelm herself so I was really glad to see that she’s never short of people to open herself up to. Her fears and insecurities felt relatable to me as a reader, and I really appreciate the way that she refused to abandon her ambition in her pursuit for love. Her ambitions are a fundamental part to her character and it felt empowering to see a woman do everything she can to attain the life that she yearns for, even if that involves some deep self-reflection and a shift in priorities. I adored Sloane’s journey of self-discovery as she learns how to chase for the life that she truly wants as opposed to the life that she thinks she’s supposed to have.
Dax Nakamura is the ultimate textbook boyfriend that will leave you swooning (and devastated that he’s not real) with his tough exterior and a gentle soul that I suspect will capture the heart of many readers alike myself. My heart broke in the process of getting to know the depths of his struggles and the weight that he carries on his shoulders after the events of his past. His honestly surrounding his battle with depression and addiction felt raw and honest in a way that brings tears to your eyes whilst also rendering you incapable of speech in its magnitude. I really felt for Dax as he undergoes the process in learning how to appreciate the triumph in overcoming whilst also managing the fear in the unknown of what comes after. His soft nature that is only on display for the people that he loves offered insight into a side of Dax that felt overwhelming in its sweetness and I couldn’t love this wonderful man more if I tried. It felt fundamental in the way that he yearned to understand Sloane wholly whilst being accommodating in the need to go at the pace that she was comfortable with. I adored the way that Dax remained unapologetic in his feelings and the way that he continued to show affection in every manner possible; secretive touches, cooking for her, remembering all of her favourite things, his willingness to love her in secret and how loudly he yearned to love her in public… all of it was perfection and felt so utterly befitting for a man who feels as intensely as Dax. Dax Nakamura is a lover boy through and through for one woman only and I had the absolute best time getting to witness him fight for the love that he refuses to miss out on a second time.
The exploration between Sloane and Dax was written with absolute perfection as they found themselves on once opposing paths with the end destination unexpectedly being the same — each other. Their romantic development felt authentic and honest in their determination to get it right the second time around without sacrificing fundamental pieces of themselves in the process. Their commitment to growing and evolving throughout life in a partnership that does not become stifled and stagnant, but instead supports and encourages the best from each other was beautiful to witness in its complexities. I adored the way that Sloane and Dax managed to communicate to the best of their ability at every turn and the way that this further strengthened their relationship. The sense of safety and security that they found in one-another brought tears to my eyes on several occasions alongside the many ways that they managed to communicate their love without fully needing to say the words. Sloane and Dax’s relationship felt truly earned and worked towards through to the end whilst also carrying a sense of ease that isn’t always easy to portray. I love these two with every piece of my heart, and I couldn’t be ending their story with anything but hope and a giddiness in my chest.
Still Into You is one of those unexpected gems that you expect to love whilst still being taken by surprise at how deeply you connected to the characters and the compelling journey that we get to follow them on. This is one of those stories that I’ve struggled to formulate my muddled thoughts into words in a way that could truly present it with the justice that it deserves. I couldn’t be happier with the conclusion of this book and the strong sense of hope that the reader is left with upon reaching the end. This is not a happily ever after story… it’s a ‘happy for now’ with the best still yet to come off-page. It’s a reminder to not look so far into the future that you forget to stop living within the present. I’m going to be thinking about this book for a very long time with it securing author Erin Connor on my list of authors to watch in the future. Still Into You was my first read by Connor and it will most definitely not be my last, so if you’re a fan of second-chance romances written with a lot of grit and heart… this is a book you’re going to want to keep an eye out for upon its February 2026 release.

Part of what makes Sloane such a rich character for me was the wonderful groups of people that she surrounds herself with as we get the chance to see something new to her every single time. Her friendship group and their banter-filled dynamics was such a delight to witness and I adored the way that we got to witness a lighter Sloane who felt less burdened. Her closeness with her family, her father and one brother in particular, had me feeling emotional and I loved getting to see the trust that Sloane places in confiding to them when she’s struggling. Sloane is a character who feels deeply to the point that she almost seems to overwhelm herself so I was really glad to see that she’s never short of people to open herself up to. Her fears and insecurities felt relatable to me as a reader, and I really appreciate the way that she refused to abandon her ambition in her pursuit for love. Her ambitions are a fundamental part to her character and it felt empowering to see a woman do everything she can to attain the life that she yearns for, even if that involves some deep self-reflection and a shift in priorities. I adored Sloane’s journey of self-discovery as she learns how to chase for the life that she truly wants as opposed to the life that she thinks she’s supposed to have.
Dax Nakamura is the ultimate textbook boyfriend that will leave you swooning (and devastated that he’s not real) with his tough exterior and a gentle soul that I suspect will capture the heart of many readers alike myself. My heart broke in the process of getting to know the depths of his struggles and the weight that he carries on his shoulders after the events of his past. His honestly surrounding his battle with depression and addiction felt raw and honest in a way that brings tears to your eyes whilst also rendering you incapable of speech in its magnitude. I really felt for Dax as he undergoes the process in learning how to appreciate the triumph in overcoming whilst also managing the fear in the unknown of what comes after. His soft nature that is only on display for the people that he loves offered insight into a side of Dax that felt overwhelming in its sweetness and I couldn’t love this wonderful man more if I tried. It felt fundamental in the way that he yearned to understand Sloane wholly whilst being accommodating in the need to go at the pace that she was comfortable with. I adored the way that Dax remained unapologetic in his feelings and the way that he continued to show affection in every manner possible; secretive touches, cooking for her, remembering all of her favourite things, his willingness to love her in secret and how loudly he yearned to love her in public… all of it was perfection and felt so utterly befitting for a man who feels as intensely as Dax. Dax Nakamura is a lover boy through and through for one woman only and I had the absolute best time getting to witness him fight for the love that he refuses to miss out on a second time.
The exploration between Sloane and Dax was written with absolute perfection as they found themselves on once opposing paths with the end destination unexpectedly being the same — each other. Their romantic development felt authentic and honest in their determination to get it right the second time around without sacrificing fundamental pieces of themselves in the process. Their commitment to growing and evolving throughout life in a partnership that does not become stifled and stagnant, but instead supports and encourages the best from each other was beautiful to witness in its complexities. I adored the way that Sloane and Dax managed to communicate to the best of their ability at every turn and the way that this further strengthened their relationship. The sense of safety and security that they found in one-another brought tears to my eyes on several occasions alongside the many ways that they managed to communicate their love without fully needing to say the words. Sloane and Dax’s relationship felt truly earned and worked towards through to the end whilst also carrying a sense of ease that isn’t always easy to portray. I love these two with every piece of my heart, and I couldn’t be ending their story with anything but hope and a giddiness in my chest.
Still Into You is one of those unexpected gems that you expect to love whilst still being taken by surprise at how deeply you connected to the characters and the compelling journey that we get to follow them on. This is one of those stories that I’ve struggled to formulate my muddled thoughts into words in a way that could truly present it with the justice that it deserves. I couldn’t be happier with the conclusion of this book and the strong sense of hope that the reader is left with upon reaching the end. This is not a happily ever after story… it’s a ‘happy for now’ with the best still yet to come off-page. It’s a reminder to not look so far into the future that you forget to stop living within the present. I’m going to be thinking about this book for a very long time with it securing author Erin Connor on my list of authors to watch in the future. Still Into You was my first read by Connor and it will most definitely not be my last, so if you’re a fan of second-chance romances written with a lot of grit and heart… this is a book you’re going to want to keep an eye out for upon its February 2026 release.

Still Into You is the perfect second chance rockstar romance for my fellow elder emos. I felt so nostalgic for my younger show-going self and that feeling of being a part of something that Erin describes so perfectly. Sloane was basically living my teenage dream. The frontman of an iconic rock band only having eyes for you? I’ll take one, please.
Second chance is honestly the best trope and I loved how Sloane & Dax’s story unfolded through glimpses of the past intertwined with their reconnection three years later. They had such great chemistry and the perfect mix of banter and heavier moments. Loved the spicy bits as well, 10/10 will swoon when Dax says “baby”. The interview transcripts were also really fun! Definitely recommend this one to the millennials and the music lovers.

I think this is my own fault for requesting this book when I didn’t like unromance but here we are. This book was not for me, at all. I see why people would like it bc it’s angsty and nostalgic but it was too repetitive for me. Like I felt like we were constantly told the same things over and over? I wasn’t very invested in their relationship bc I just don’t believe their romance that last like a month 3 years ago really ruined them for everyone else. This is an unfortunate situation where I’m a fan of the author but not her books.

This book was the PERFECT example of what a rockstar romance that’s traditionally published SHOULD BE. It’s delicious, sexy and well written. If you are a fan of 2010’s pop punk you will love this. It brought me back to highschool listening to Sleeping with Sirens and All Time Low.

First impressions 💭
Ohh the nostalgia!! Instantly I was reminded of one of my favourite movies (almost famous) but if it was set at the time I was a young adult. An immediate transportation back to being young, hopeful, ambitious, and a little bit reckless.
Straight away I was able to sink into the dual narration of the audiobook with Karissa Vacker setting the tone of the story to perfection!
What I Loved ❤️
- Right person wrong time, second Chance romance. Whichever way you want to spin it, I am WEAK for it.
Sloane and Dax had me GIDDY! With their playful banter, palpable tension, stolen touches, all of things left unsaid, and the yearning - oh how that man YEARNS.
- The FMC Sloane was such a fantastic character that I WANTED to be in her head. She is vibrant and has such a strong voice. She has taken the time to learn who she is and what she wants. But there’s still room for her growth as she navigates to balance her passions.
- THE VIBES!!! The atmosphere is electric, transporting me into a buzzing crowd waiting for the music to start. I can’t even put words to how it truly made me feel.
- Karissa Vackers performance of not only Sloan but the many other characters was exceptional. And I really enjoyed the interview excerpt chapters that gave a voice to Dax and his bandmates!

Normally I stay away from rockstar romances because of the tendency for these main characters to over indulge in the rockstar life, but that wasn’t the case with Still Into You. It’s so clear from the start that Sloane and Dax have unfinished business and that they only have eyes for each other. Their chemistry and sexual tension was perfection and I was rooting so hard for these two to get the timing right this time.
I would have loved a few more scenes focused on Dax and Sloane reconnecting. They’ve been apart for 3 years and aren’t the same people they used to be. The band interviews were a fun addition though, and really came to life with the audiobook.

oh this was just so much fun!!!!! as a girl who loves her music and reading album/artist reviews, this rockstar x journalist romance was everything i could have hoped for.
this book is an ode to the early 2000s in the best way (i say as someone born in 2004 LOL). but seriously, this nostalgic throwback to off the shoulder concert tees and bodycon dresses and colorful everything was just perfect.
a moment for dax nakimura. A MAN!!!!!!!!! king of respecting his girl and being so down bad. i love him so much. he treats sloane the way every girl dreams of being treated, and then there’s the fun addition of him being the frontman for basically the biggest metal band in the world. hello! hot!
i also adored sloane. this woman went after her dreams and never gave them up for anyone’s comfort. she pursued the truth and the best story, but she most importantly never lost her integrity. i loved the way she stood up for herself always, but also found a way to let in the softness of good love. she and dax both deserve that joy.
i truly ate this up. shoutout to my girl dana for telling me to read this, i am officially obsessed.

Still Into You is a dream! It was nostalgic, romantic, and hopeful. Hopeful in that we can get our paths right one day. Romantic in that we can find the right person to share it all with. And nostalgic in that this book…this book is a millennial’s cherished yearbook to a golden age. The 2010s, with touches of early 2000s, the rise of social media takes place and connections are made in ways we never thought possible. If you’re a millennial, this book will transport you back to then, and if you’re younger, this book is a perfect, inviting window to that era. Either way, either or any generation, you will find something to connect with in this book. And I am so sure you will love it the way I did.
Sloane is a freelance music journalist looking to make her current work permanent, and hopes to do just that with her next assignment. What she doesn’t expect is that her next assignment features Dax the metal frontman who won her heart three years back but whose heart she in turn had to leave behind to follow her still unmade dreams.
Sloane and Dax are everything! Their love is so beautiful. They begin this tale reuniting yet still so deeply in love. And it’s clear from the start. This isn’t a story about falling in love, or even back into love, it’s about love always being there but now deciding if they can make space for it in their life’s path. If they’re each willing to prioritize love in a way they once didn’t. I’m used to reading romances where it's about actively falling in love, but that’s not how I’d describe this love story. I’d consider the main part of this love story, the beating heart, to be the individual journeys deciding whether their journeys can be shared. Although we do not get Dax’s POV, through Sloane we come to know his journey, including his past struggles and his unknown but welcoming future he must set. We watch Dax set out to move away from all he has known for years– leading a metal band– into being able to lay down roots and find a much quieter future ahead. And then we have our POV protagonist Sloane who is living many unknowns. She does not have a permanent position at her job yet and with that it makes her future Dax a question mark. But she once gave up love for the promise of a dream career, so now she has to decide if she should take a different path, or perhaps reshape to fit it all. I admired Sloane so much. She has so much investment in Dax’s band, because they were all friends to her, she loves their music because she loves who they are as people, and she will not cross any lines in ever betraying their trust in some salacious story. She leads with integrity and heart, even if that means never being first in the race. And even if that means the shape of her dreams may change. She’s left with choices, and one of my favorite things about her and Dax is they do talk things out. Their love is undeniable, the question is, can it be attainable alongside their dreams?
I felt so invested as this journey unfolded to find out exactly that. If I'd want anything more, is I wished for a clearer resolution to a certain mole on the loose. Otherwise? Perfection!
I smiled so much throughout this book, but the type of smile that makes me wish I could go back in time. To growing up in the 2000s, to finding my place in the world in 2010s, to wishing I could do it all over again. Maybe differently, maybe the same, but always listening to the same music. Over and over. Those were the golden days.

Friends, this book was not for me. I find a second chance romance a little tough when it doesn't go back to the earlier timeline. I found these characters to be a bit tedious, the plot to be very repetitive and the rock and roll setting failed to grab me. I loved Erin Connor's former novel Unromance so I was excited for this, but it just didn't land for me. I do think others might enjoy it!

Angsty second chance romance between the reformed bad boy frontman of the biggest emo metal band and the music journalist he could never forget if he tried. The tension?! Palpable. Delicious.
My favorite thing about this reading experience is probably the pacing. It kept me feral, and I couldn’t get enough.
I think Erin has outdone herself and I don’t even know how she’s gonna top this, but I am very much looking forward to finding out how. Cause we all know she will.

Having adored Erin Connor's 2025 debut, I was incredibly excited for this one and I'm happy to say I adored this one too.
An emotional, charming and fun second-chance romance, Sloane and Dax's love story stole my heart. I loved the deeper discussions surrounding Dax's struggled with mental health and addiction, as well as Sloane's journey with demisexuality.
