To say I was enthralled, is an understatement of note. Riveted to my reading corner, eyeballs glued to tablet, I have been reading almost non stop since this morning till the end. It's a treacherous world where deception and power are intertwined. Kaisner desperately needs his dormant dragon powers to reinstate the former glory of the Dragon King of Drachenstein Clan. Clarissa, a gifted seer, holds the key or rather her Draken blood which she must give freely. Niamh, hands her a key to the Book of Vaelmir, a volume for seers. She faces two paths, doom or salvation. He pursued her for his own ends, but fate had other plans as she's the light to his darkness. The ritual that did not go as planned, the mating claim had me giddy, but the end is not yet in sight as it's followed by a kidnapping and so much more interesting twists. I'm not one for spoilers, so my lips are sealed, but I'll mention that the end with all the unanswered questions left me salivating for the follow up. Numerous known characters, hot as hell passionate scenes without being smutty. A long list of triggers are mentioned upfront. Absolutely brilliant book.
I received an advanced review copy and leave this review voluntary. Thank you so much

I really wanted to love this. The premise had everything I usually fall for—dragon shifters, a dark mafia backdrop, a morally gray anti-hero, and a destined love tangled in secrecy and danger. 🐉💔 But unfortunately, this book just didn’t work for me the way I hoped it would.

We’re introduced to Kaisner Drachentstein, a ruthless dragon king molded by power and pain, raised under a cruel father and dark magic. His entire life has been shaped by a single mission: awaken his dragon and reclaim his legacy—even if it means hunting down the one sacrifice that could unlock that fate. And that sacrifice? Turns out to be Clarissa Draken, a gifted seer who’s been in hiding ever since her family was massacred. She’s finally carving out a peaceful life for herself—until Kaisner storms in with secrets, shadows, and a destiny she didn’t ask for.

The tension in the setup was undeniable, and I wanted to root for this enemies-to-lovers romance. The stakes were high, the atmosphere was gritty and seductive, and the central question—Can love survive when it was never supposed to exist?—was powerful. But the execution didn’t land for me. 😞

Kaisner’s character felt emotionally inconsistent. One moment he was all fire and destiny and dominance, and the next he seemed to do a complete emotional 180 without clear reasoning. I really struggled to understand why he made certain choices or how he emotionally got there. It made it hard for me to connect or believe in the romance. 💔

Clarissa had potential—I liked the vulnerability and the strength she tried to hold onto—but her storyline felt buried under too much plot happening too fast. There was so much going on all at once: fated mates, secret legacies, visions, bloodlines, mafia deals, ancient rituals, political power struggles… I didn’t have enough time to sit with anything before the next twist hit. It left the story feeling overcrowded and a bit chaotic. 😵‍💫

I think with more breathing room and deeper emotional clarity, I could’ve been more invested. There were glimpses of great tension, and the world had a dark fairytale-meets-mythical-underground energy that I appreciated. But overall, it felt like there was too much being told and not enough being felt.

🖤🔥 This might be for you if you enjoy:
• Dragon shifter mafia romance 🐉
• Morally gray, dominant MMCs 🖤
• Fated mates + forbidden love 💫
• Seer heroine with untapped power 🔮
• Dark fantasy + romantic drama vibes 🕯️
• High-stakes destiny + ancient magic themes
• Dual POV and slow unraveling of past trauma 🪞

✨ Thank you to the author and BookSirens for the ARC opportunity! I think this will really work for readers who love layered fantasy worlds, broody alphas, and a fast-paced, high-drama romance with bite. Even though it wasn’t for me, I hope others fall for the fire in this one. 🖤🔥

Listen. When I tell you Wings of Shadow set my entire dragon-loving, dark-romance-obsessed heart ablaze—I mean full-body-soul ignition. Silvana G. Sánchez didn’t just write a story; she dropped me into the mouth of a morally gray, fire-breathing, destiny-drenched inferno and said, “Good luck, sweetheart.”
And I liked it.
Let’s talk about Kaisner Drachentstein. This man is a walking contradiction: the brutal shadow king with blood on his hands and heartbreak simmering behind those infernal eyes. He’s supposed to be the villain. The sacrifice-seeking, darkness-bred destroyer. But the moment he saw Clarissa? Baby, I was already lighting candles for their doomed love.
And Clarissa? My fierce, intuitive seer queen who’s got just enough sass to poke the dragon and just enough heart to tether him to the last shred of humanity he has left. Her pain, her confusion, her slow-burning craving for a man she knows might ruin her? I felt it in my chest. She’s not some trembling waif—she’s a survivor with layers, strength, and a destiny she never asked for.
This book gave me:
🔥 Fated mates with the weight of worlds between them
🖤 A hero who straddles the line between protector and destroyer
💔 Forbidden magic, ancient legacies, and a past soaked in tragedy
🫠 Sizzling tension so intense, I practically short-circuited
⚔️ And a slow, aching trust-building romance that made me want to scream, cry, and kiss someone all at once
And let me just say—when Kaisner starts slipping, when that cold armor cracks and you glimpse the man underneath the king? Oh. My. Dragon gods. I melted. He’s brutal, but when he cares? It’s full throttle. Clarissa’s not just a means to an end—she becomes his end, his beginning, and his undoing.
Final thoughts?
If you like your fantasy dark, your love stories complicated, and your heroes with claws and trauma, Wings of Shadow is your next obsession. I came for the dragons. I stayed for the emotional destruction. And now? I need the next book yesterday.
5 out of 5 destiny-forged stars. And one very scorched heart.

✨🔥 Elegance Level: High | Sass Level: Righteously Shaken 🔥✨

Silvana G. Sánchez, queen of delicious literary torment and master puppeteer of the Unnatural Brethren universe, has once again graced us with a novel that is less “oh, a nice read” and more “someone hold me, I may never emotionally recover.” Wings of Shadow is not a book—it’s a full-body experience. Think dark chocolate laced with venom and prophecy.

Let’s start with this: I thought I was emotionally prepared. Silvana’s previous books gave me chills, thrills, and the occasional breakdown. But this? This is a whole other level of “What in the name of unholy plot twists just happened?”

The central thread between Kaisner and Clarissa is molten. It's not just hot—it’s thermonuclear. Their chemistry? Devastating. Their trauma? Mutually assured destruction. Their story peels back layer after layer of pain, desire, and unexpected tenderness. You will sweat. You will scream into a pillow. You may text your therapist.

And just when you think you’re grounded—WHAM!—Silvana yanks the rug out from under you with a twist that not only hijacks the narrative but dares to steal the entire damn spotlight. Honestly? Bold. Rude. Iconic.

The cast expands, the stakes skyrocket, and something ancient and sinister starts slithering through the seams of this beautifully ruined universe. The prophecy? Oh, it’s here. And it’s not playing nice.

By the end, I wasn’t reading. I was clutching the book like it owed me rent and answers. And Silvana? She left me hanging. Speechless. Mind spinning. Dignity? Gone. Probably sacrificed in chapter nineteen.

So now what?
We wait. Impatient. Obsessed. Slightly traumatized.
And ready for whatever dark brilliance she conjures next.

🖤 Proceed with caution. And wine.

Wings of Shadow completely swept me away. From the very first chapter, the tension between danger, prophecy, and desire had me hooked, and I didn’t want to put it down. The world is dark, treacherous, and full of shifting loyalties, and the author weaves those elements together so well that every twist feels both surprising and inevitable.

Kaisner is the perfect morally grey hero—equal parts ruthless determination and aching vulnerability—and watching his walls crack whenever Clarissa enters the picture was addictive. Clarissa herself is a fantastic heroine: powerful without realising it, compassionate without being naïve, and far stronger than anyone gives her credit for. Their connection is electric, from the wary first encounters to the intense, fated pull neither of them can escape.

The story balances high-stakes fantasy with a deeply emotional romance, and the revelations about their pasts, their powers, and the forces manipulating them kept the momentum sharp throughout. The ritual, the bond, and everything that follows had me turning pages at full speed. And that ending—full of unanswered questions and rising danger—has me absolutely desperate for the next instalment.

A seductive, dangerous, beautifully written romantasy. I loved every moment.

“I will love her with every breath in my body, with every beat of my blackened, brutal heart.”

If you’re looking for a paranormal romance that takes place in the modern world, I highly suggest reading Wings of Shadow by Silvana G. Sanchez! This book is apart of a series, but could be read as a standalone! The world- building was fantastic (and as someone who only read this book, it was easy to follow along and understand)!

Kaisner and Clarissa were perfect for each other. I absolutely adore fated mates and instant connection! Silvana did an incredible job bringing these tropes to life in this book! Kaisner and Clarissa’s chemistry was outstanding and the level of trust/ understanding of each other developed so quickly between the two of them! It becomes clear that they care deeply for one another.

The side characters were extremely interesting and the plot was well-written. I’m excited to see what happens next in the series and will definitely be reading the first few books that came before this one! I highly recommend reading!

The story is really quite simple - boy (Kay) meets girl (Clarissa), tries to kill her to gain power but she forgives him with no real drama (!) and they become mates. The story is intriguing and has so much potential however i felt the passion and excitement was a bit hazy- was always expecting to get more but was left a bit disappointed. Example is when they have their first romp in his office - so much build up but really bit underwhelming; another example is when she is taken and Kai and her brother rescue her - again we have her brother build to be an uncontrollable force guided by anger however there is a very weak confrontation between the two dragons - so much angst and sneaking around for nothing…

The story gets complicated at the end but the side characters and hints to what is coming are bit uncalled for and detract from the main characters romance, leaving reader confused.

Part of the Bad Boy Shifters of The Unnatural Brethren series, Wings of Shadow is in Silvana’s words “the darkest installment of the series so far”. She wasn’t joking, so if you need to, check those warnings. Spicy romantasy with all the trimmings. This one explodes right from the beginning. Kaisner, has made a vow to his father to restore the Drachenstein name and power back to its former glory. Clarissa, is coming close to her ascension as a witch, she is also the sister of the last dragon shifter. When these two meet for the first time he’s instantly pulled into her orbit. Violence, danger, revenge, magic, prophecies, politics, forbidden enemies to lovers, and shifters oh my! Best to read this world in order for clarity, but you can still open this up and be immersed into the Brethren world.

Wings of Shadow is a contemporary dragon shifter romance that checked all the boxes for a darkly intoxicating story.

Kaisner Drachenstein made a vow at his father’s gravesite to restore their families power and with unbridled ruthlessness he has years later succeeded but the one thing which still eludes him is the sacrifice that will awaken his dragon.

Loved this intensely written story of steamy passion, drama, danger, family dynamics, magic, intrigue, subterfuge, and secrets.

When fate entwines that of Clarissa Draken with Kaisner’s will the love that grows flourish or be burned to cinders, the world will be holding its breath!

After reading all about the Unnatural Brethren, I had to accept a copy of this one.

I would like to preface this by saying that I KNEW this was going to be a stand alone story, but was still upset that it didn't tie up something else for me. That's on me.

I did end up enjoying this story. It lost one star for me because I did NOT appreciate Kaisner's ambitions throughout. That said, he did end up making the right choice, and things worked out better for it. It was tricky for me to see Clarissa as anything other than the sweet, little sister, but I figured it out, eventually.

The story ended perfectly, and it even gives the promise of maybe finally answering my questions in the future.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The spicy scenes were on point and the emotions conveyed by the characters kept me locked in. The tension and angst between characters was great.

I did struggle a bit with Kaisner's thought process/emotions at certain points. One minute he's all about claiming his destiny and then the next it feels like he flips a switch without a lot of explanation or reason. It made it hard for me to accept and get behind initially.

Still highly recommend and am eager to see where the story goes from here. The ending has me excited for what may happen next.

Kaisner has been willing to sacrifice anything for his power all his life, until he sees her. Clarissa is something Kaisner had never even allowed himself to dream of. She is the light in the darkness that now surrounds him.

Can Clarissa be stronger that the darkness? Can Kaisner release his desire for power in search of love? All these questions and so much more can be answered inside the pages of this story.

The characters are absolutely amazing and the world building is wonderful. There are some amazing twists and turns that take you on a journey within these pages.

I am just so in love with this author. I came across her a few a weeks ago in booksprout, and since then I’ve been devouring everything I can get my hands on. And this was no exception. I was so pulled into this one. I am loving the dragon shifter. This one was intense. The world building was amazing as always. And the characters just invite you into the story to go right alongside the story with them. The description spoils you. It brings you into it so well it’s like reading a movie in your mind. I absolutely loved this one. It was intense and romantic. Sweet and steamy. It came with everything needed for a good story.

I thoroughly devoured this Dark Dragon Shifter Romance story. This story is very well written and I enjoyed all the characters. Kaisner and Clarissa's destinies were written in time before they even meet. Their chemistry is electric, steamy and strong enough to withstand time. Changing them both for the better. The stakes are high and the ending leaves you wanting more. I highly recommend this book and this series. Silvana is a very gifted author you don't want to miss. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

I did enjoy this book. But not as much as the previous ones. Cuz I found some things confusing. Kaisner Drachentstein total switch and character from wanting to sacrifice Clarissa Draken to complete devotion from one breath to the next was a bit confusing. And I felt like there was so much going on all at once that I had a hard time focusing on just one thing. Plus she got on my nerves a little bit on how naive she was and the fact that she was keeping secrets from her brother.

I loved diving into the world of Kaisner and Clarissa. Who doesn't love a spicy dragon? It built a great connection of the characters. I had not read the previous books of the seroes, choosing to read it as a standalone, but now after finishing the book, I will be going to seek them out as well. Loved it!.

This was an excellent story on Kaisner and Clarissa’s love, and how it changed them both for the better. There was darkness, but also love. There’s always that shadow of something bad that’s going to happen in the future, which keeps the story alluring. I truly enjoyed this book and can think of many characters in the book that I want to learn more about!

I found the main characters in this story so interesting. The FMC is a seer and the MMC is trying to find a way to unleash his dragon and she may be the path to doing so. They have chemistry that’s off the charts. I have fallen away from mafia type books but this was an entertaining and fun one to read.

Doomed Fate

Kaisner is a grumpy dragon shifter with the weight of the kingdom at risk. Clarissa is a gift seeker whose entire family has been killed. Their attraction while instant is fraught with so many complications dooming them to an unknown fate. This story intense and entertaining. I found this story to be very enjoyable.

Each book in this series has their own pole. The main characters become real within the story. There is so much tension between Clans, loyalties being tested. But through all of it fate, fate is the only thing that's true. I look forward to seeing how she goes with the next book.

This story brings in additional characters not yet introduced. The audiobook does not explain any jump to next characters and doesn’t revisit some of the prior characters and where they stand. But aside from a little confusion in the beginning, the story itself is good.
