Sanggupkah Meredith menerima apa pun keputusan Geirolf?

4 Stars!! Laugh out loud funny...a rollicking good time!
Sandra Hill gives Viking lore a whole new spin in the 20th century!
Love this author's sense of humor and quirky characters. Rolf's perspective on "modern times", Oreos, his obsession with the picture box,(Home Improvement & Martha Stewart) and his companion the voluptuous Ingrid...the wooden woman who saved him *snicker*...had me in stitches. Ingrid might have saved him, but Meredith, "Merry-Death", stole his heart.
A lighthearted time-travel romance with a sweet sexy manly Viking, sizzling character chemistry, and hysterical dialogue. Just roll with it and have a good time!
The scrumptious Geirolf Ericsson

This book was hilarious! I was laughing out loud at times, and although I was a little wary of it, what with the whole "macho man from the past" storyline, I found it sweet, funny, and a 5* read for pure entertainment value:-) This was my first Sandra Hill read, but will not be my last!:-)
2020 bk 46. Jorund is a Viking sent on a mission by his father - go and find your missing brother, Rolf. In the seafaring voyage, Jorund, his brother Magnus, and the crew quickly realize that they are being followed by a killer whale - quickly named Flora. Flora has a mission of her own, kidnap Jorund and take him into the future to a land known as Texas, to meet Maggie and her twin daughters (who are spittin' images of his own deceased daughters). The dialog is quick, witty, and designed to make the reader chuckle.
4.5/5 stars This was my first book by author Sandra Hill. It was a cheese-tastic book. One of those books which I both love to hate and hate to love simultaneously. The concept is an overdone fish-out-of-water time-travel theme, but it had enough humor that it had me giggling outloud numerous times.
The feminist inside of me (the uber-crazy one from my women's college past) is saddened by my enjoying the book. However, the giddy teenager side of me is all a-flitter with estrogen happiness.
What is wrong with me? *rolls her eyes at herself*
I came very close to awarding The Last Viking two whole stars, because to be fair to the book, it brought a lot of joy to my life, just not in the way the author probably intended...
My cynical flatmate frequently delights in laughing at the books I read and a few months back, she stumbled across Sandra Hill's works and became fixated. I bought her a copy of The Last Viking all for herself and she gamely embraced her first ever romance novel and insisted I read it too. So, here are my thoughts:
I can forgive a lot of crimes in fluffy romance books. I can cope with cheesiness. I can cope with plot contrivances that would never happen in real life. I can even cope with magical elements/destinies/soulmates, etc. What I cannot abide is stupidity. Meredith and Geirolf are perfectly suited for one another, in that they are both remarkably idiotic throughout this book. The awful dialogue, the unbelievable 'motivations' and the horrendously paper-thin supporting cast all succeeded in infuriating me, yanking me out of the story because I couldn't suspend my disbelief and invest in these characters as living creations. And don't even get me started on the chapter break titles (that's right - every chapter BREAK had a title - usually involving an awful pun).
I could write an essay about why this book didn't work for me, but you get the drift. The romance genre is so easy to ridicule and books such as this do it a disservice.
Shipwrecked and lost, six-feet, four inch Geirolf finds himself thrown into the 20th century. The medieval historian, Meredith can't fall in love with the arrogant, chauvinistic viking because of his blood oath to full-fill his destiny and return to the 10th century. Yet all in love they do.
This action packed novel is filled with laughter, tears (and I shed plenty of 'em), and, by Odin- a hearty good time!
I found The Last Viking a hard book to put down and read it all in 2 days! Bestselling author, Sandra Hill, wins my vote for best book I've read yet this year. You fall in love with the characters and root for their love to last, all admist chaos, tension, and obnoxious family members.
Terminado.
Oke, mungkin covernya “agak” bikin shock, tapi never ever judge a book by its cover :)) (walapun setelah re-release covernya jadi agak mendingan, tapi tetep prefer yang ini =)) )
Norsemandy 997, AD
Maine, 1997
Who is Calf in Shore Bow? =)) ).
My favorite Quote , balasan Geirolf saat Meredith berkali2 menolaknya untuk menikah : “What’ever you say dearling :))”
I'm not sure why I had hopes for this book. I suppose it had potential for an interesting story with a Viking displaced into modern times and finding romance with a modern woman. Unfortunately, the author threw way too many convenient circumstances into the plot to make it stick for me. A convenient artifact provides magical fluency in English. Geirolf has a convenient hankering for middle-aged, mousy women (an odd trait to find in a Viking, you have to admit). A middle-aged mousy woman is conveniently a professor of history with a sabbatical to build a real Viking longship despite being completely passive in pretty much all aspects of her life. You get the drift.
Unfortunately, the author also makes very simple mistakes with Geirolf's background—like why would he need an alphabet primer if he once studied Latin with medieval monks? Seriously, that's beyond basic. In all, there's simply no way to take this story seriously. And the sexy bits weren't any better. Sadly.
In the end, I couldn't make it past the half-way mark. I don't have a lot of patience with domineering men to begin with and when nothing else about the story draws me in, that's enough to kill my desire to continue dead, dead, dead.
Sandra Hill memang paling sukses bikin gw ngakak!!! Viking heromaker tiada taranya....hohohoho...
Inti masalah mulai terjadi.
The Last Viking merupakan bacaan ringan dan sangat menghibur.
Tapi seperti biasa ini kan romance, they will fall in love eventually.
3.75⭐️- This was honestly a very entertaining book. The concept of a Viking trying to survive in the 90s was hilarious, and I loved his fixation on things, especially Oreos. Meredith was a strong woman and she held out for a while. The research done into Vikings was also quite extensive. I did find myself getting a little bored at points and I feel like it was just slightly too long. It was exactly what I needed though and made me laugh.
I told myself I needed to take a break from all the heavy reading I've been doing lately. I think I went too light. Rolf did not act like a Viking. He acts like someone's fantasy of what a Viking would be. He repeatedly says that he was into the pillaging, but not the raping. Of course. How realistic. (Please note the sarcasm) Pfft. Give me Khal Drogo any day. He tells his wife, he swears an oath in front of all his people that he's going to rape women for his wife, which is disgusting but much better and more believable than this pansy of a romantic Viking. Also, he feeds a dog Oreos. But it's okay, because the dog loved the Oreos as much as he does. That's great Rolf. (Again, please note) I'm sure that dog will eat as many Oreos as it can in doggie heaven, because that's where you just sent him. And then the dialogue was just the same thing back and forth, back and forth. Gah! Maybe I need to go back to the heavy. Stupid GRRM is ruining every other book for me.
klo mw ngilangin stres n butuh ketawa disarankan baca iniiii sumpaaaahh lucuuu... >,<
;p n ad juga time travel plus rainkarnasi (kek the reluctant viking n prince of dream x LK)...
lebih heboh time travel yg tokohx mendarat d masa depan...ekspresi mereka liat barang2 moderen itu menggemaaaaskaan... ;p
geirolf setelah mendarat d masa depan dy tergila2 sangat dengan Oreo...hehe... n suka sekali nonton Home improvement acara ttg pertukangan...sampai2 pembawa acarax dianggap dewa oleh geirolf... ;p geirolf suka sekali belanja k swalayan n klo meredith tidak mengajakx belanja dy bakal snewen...hihi...
I was soo curious about this writer, so I tried one of her books when I found one in a second hand shop.
The first half was absolutely wonderful. Meredith was a little too prim and proper, but Geirolf was so unbelievably funny, I kept devouring the pages. I was thinking I had found a new treasure.
But after the midpoint, Geirolf still was funny, but I found Meredith so very annoying and besides that the story felt like it was going in circles, the drama and conflict that kept them apart just didn't feel real. So after trying for a while and fast forwarding, I ended up just flipping to the last pages.
So how to rate? I decided on a 3 star, rounded up from the average between 4 (1st half) and 1 (second half) just for the amazingly funny character of Geirolf. Will I read the next books in this series? Don't know. Maybe if I find one on sale or second hand.
And for those having doubts: this story does have time travel, so if you hate that, don't read it.
Sometimes you just gotten veer off the beaten trail a bit. This was so not a book I would not usually read, but it was a fun little romance novel.
Geirolf is a Viking, caught in a whirlpool through time, he finds himself on the shore of modern day Maine (1997) - 1000 years after his time. He makes his way to the "keep" of Meredith Foster - a professor of Medieval history who is working to complete the building of a Viking boat with her students as a final tribute to her grandfather. While Rolf would be the perfect addition to her staff, the chemistry between them is intense. As Rolf figures out his destiny, he must adapt to the rudiments of the 20th century.
Yeah, not much literature here. But it was a fun weekend read and a nice break from my usual routine.
Its an admiral skill to be able to tell a story of an h&h from vastly different centuries and pull it off with humour.
He gave Ingrid's left nipple - the size of a fat, sundrenched grape - a quick lick of salty appreciation. And hoped belatedly that he didn't get a splinter in his tongue.
It's so silly, I'm laughing already and I'm only at page two. The author is referring to the busty wooden ship prow that timetravelled from 997 to 1997 with the last viking Geirolf Ericsson.
Lots of laughs that barely balanced the uptight stiff necked professor Meredith Foster. Memories of ET rose to the fore and I wanted him to go home.
meet a hero,a time traveller viking indeed who adore n worship a mall n home improvement's host like a Norse god=) declare oreo, peanut butter, beer as a food made in heaven. meet a heroine a dock whore name merry death (actually Dr.Merridith,as He hear it wrong from the first time haha) as he called his beloved professor. He's stranded in the future and acted as a shipbuilder to help merry death. Would he go back to the past alone or bring Merridith with him or choose others solution for their love, you have to read it by yourself;) an enjoyable story, really.try this one^^
It was fun and I actually liked the guy - a real man that makes bad decisions and overrides his woman's will sometimes, but he has a good heart. It was also very funny in places and I swooned several times :)
we've got a Norse Viking from 997 cuddling Ingrid's breasts from his ship wreck only for him to wake up in 1997 present time. Time traveling Viking.
then we've got Meredith a professor of medieval times whose on sabbatical building her grandpas old boat he never finished. she comes home to naked geirolf Viking. He tells her he can repair her longship, that it will break once it hits waters because he is a professional back from his time. He asks her at some point also to teach him how to read, so he can go home maybe. They go shopping at the mall for clothing. He convinces her to get a lacy pink bra from vicotria secret (they've already had some happy, happy fun times, at that point). they run into her aunt thea & her sister jillie. that's pretty much the 1st 100pgs or so
200pgs or so in, it's getting really sweet & really funny, but first there's some struggles. Rolf is still pretending to be a time traveler, to which meredith doesn't believe. He's now working on building 2 longships rather than fixing her grandfathers and stealing it from her once she explained the story behind it. They do get into a fight of whose in charge. she's in charge because these ships are used for funding from the school. and Rolf is in charge well because his technique is far superior to hers, even though hers comes from a failing of professionals. Rolf ends up demanded to be the one in charge and saying to her "lets end this game, I'm the one in charge, I take no more orders from you" which ended up with them basically breaking up & him sleeping out in her yard in a sleeping bag. She does apologize for some of her harsh words, they do end up having some happy, happy fun time, but right after, which is kind of shitty, she tells him he cannot be in charge because of the schools involvement of her project to which he takes his sleeping bag & pouts off by himself.
then some time goes by, he enlists the use of her friends and family to help him get around while they are in their "fighting" phase - this happens till she finally has to confront about something from her office. he gets distracted by her pretty hosiary she's wearing, they have some happy happy fun time there in her office. later that evening, Rolf explains his many journeys & how he spoke to Sharon Stone, Mike (her assistant and orig dude who was going to build the longship for her but wanted to put a naked woman on the boat to symbolize the boat, but what would have been better in his opinion would have been a liking of sharon stone instead, because she's his dream girl) so thankfully, that didn't happen. but app. rolf spent some time on the phone & got ahold of sharon stone to meet mike but told him she wouldn't be able to because she was shooting another film elsewhere. as for the other people he contacted, app. he contacted tim the toolman taylor and al borlnad from home improvement. It's funny to see those references esp. since I'm aware i'm reading a present day 90s book in 2023. lol
her sister jillie ends up propositioning Rolf. he declines her advances. jillie accuses him of being in love with meredith. it takes him some time, but then finally admits he's in love with her. he goes upstairs to see her in the tub, they talk, she flicks her toe on the faucet, he gets all hot and bothered from it, joins her, then admits that he's in love with her.
the last 300pgs (307), we've got a few things going on - he proposes marriage, not a real one but a norse viking one. she keeps refusing, he keeps up with his "whatever you say, darling" placating her - he prepares the entire civil ceremony wedding, she keeps deflecting. he has rings & a belt buckle that cost a fortune. he sold one ring for a 100k, but refused to part with the 2nd, he knew he could get more for it, but decided against it since he had to make the wedding preparations, he refuses to make love with her until they are wed.
Jeffery (her cheating ex husband) & Jillie (her sister) burglarize them trying to to get his last ring & belt so they can sell it for themselves - jillie tried the diplomatic way first, you know, constantly asking about them, to her propositioning him repeatedly, they decided to steal them instead. this was of course after jeffery called meredith up seeking a "catch up" meeting, long time no see, wich she refused because "duh", which rightly pissed him off because it was how was going to try to get the ring & belt for himself. his 2nd wife is pregnant for the 2nd time and is due in 3wks. meredith chastises him for living his wife to speak to another women when she's that close to labor.
Rolf & meredith deal w/Jefferey & jillie, then they get married.

(Explícito). Me gustó mucho.
Meredith Foster is a professor of medieval (Norse) history in Maine. Her grandfather was also and his uncompleted project at his death, was building a Norse longboat. Meredith is trying to complete it. When she comes home one night, she finds a 10th century Viking in her house. Geirolf Ericsson has gone through a time warp from 997 to 1997 and doesn't quite know what to do. He was on a quest to return a holy relic to England to stop a Norse famine. Meredith and Rolf fall in love, but he's committed to returning to stop the famine. Very funny story with lots of word plays as Rolf tries to adapt to the 20th century.
