Green Water Lilies, is a Black and African American Christian Fiction Romance with Suspense of courage, a mother’s sacrifice, and love in the face of adversity. As with all the books in Flower Series, it can be read as a standalone.
Tope Omotosho is passionate about impacting the world through timeless wisdom and knowledge found in her thought-provoking stories and writing that applies to all ages. Her stories and articles cut across love, relationship and romance in a way that does not deny the relevance of God in our everyday life. She is a devoted Christian passionate about bringing people to the knowledge of God’s true and unfailing love.
this book is a 5/5 for me. Words I could use to describe it would be superb, splendid, exciting, exhilarating and unputdownable. Mosadi's character was such a delight to experience. How God could change a life that was full of revenge to a life of total surrender to God and his divine timing. I so much loved Sade's disposition to all that was happening and how she still believed in God's divine working power,, even though I didn't like her Miss independence attitude sometimes😏😁. GWL is a romantic-suspense book and Tope made sure it lived up to its expectation. I was held spellbound from start to finish, through the maze of past and present days and the different POVs. I also loved that this story was well crafted with different terms used to describe military operations which showed expertise with which it was written.👏👏💯.
In all, I learnt absolute surrender to God and to know that His ways are not our ways. I also learnt that ,no matter the number of years evil prevails, the light of the truth is bound to shine.
Tope Omotosho did an extraordinary job with the flower series, ohmyyyyyyyyy, GWL (book five of the flower series) is nothing short of GOODNESS!
First, the cover is givinggggggggg everything minus nothing! Second, GWL is different from every other books written by Tope Omotosho, this is giving ACTION MOVIES plus dramassss. The suspense is 🔥🔥🔥
If I have to describe GWL in a word, it will be MASTERPIECE. Every single page of this book makes my heart burn, despite addressing grief and other emotional themes, it’s refreshing to read. GWL feels like a cold water being poured over a hot situation , it resonates with my current season despite it being a ACTION PACKED and Romance novel.
Mosadioluwa and Sade’s love story shows how God can turn things around when we totally submit. I love their healing journey, their sweet banter and love story. Their story wasn’t rushed, it just feels so good to read about. The multiple POVs did justice to the story. The chemistry was on point and awwnnnn moments are so satisfying 🥰🥰🥰
Tope Omotosho did a fantastic job with GWL, I could literally feel her emotions on every single page.
I’ve read several “Marriage of convenience” tropes but this is EVERYTHING. A blessing, entertaining, lesson packed, suspenseful, intriguing and interesting.
GWL is a story of hope, beauty for ashes, redemption, total dependence on God and God’s leading.
Binge-worthy! Tope Omotosho's Flower series are some of my favorite Christian contemporary romance but I think the newest, Green Water Lilies, is the first that really embraces the romantic suspense genre - and she ROCKED it.
It took me a minute to wrap my mind around the different POV characters and then we were off in a story of duty, trusting God, uncovering the past, secret organizations, crooked politicians, a boss babe in a mission to shelter vulnerable women, Nigerian military, brother's best friend, age gap romance...
The faith is always woven in so well, never preachy but always convicting; characters I want to spend time with; prose that keeps me engaged; tension that made me unable to see a way out for the characters.
If you haven't picked up a Tope Omotosho book yet, I highly recommend them and I think you'll fall in love as fast as I did. This one is a great place to start, even though the side characters are from the other books in the series, it's possible to read each book on its own. If you want to start the series at the beginning, Brown Roses is just as good!
Big kudos to Tope Omotosho! I’ve been reading her books for a long time, and it’s inspiring to see how she continues to grow as a writer. The plot and characters in Water Lilies are strong, with a beautiful blend of suspense, faith, and romance. Mosadi’s journey navigating the weight of his past, the moral challenges of undercover work, and the struggle to trust God in the unknown was so compelling. Once again, Tope showcases her gift for tackling overlooked but important topics. And of course, she delivered on the romance, giving us not just one but two love stories to enjoy. All in all, another well-deserved applause for her!
I'm so late with this review, but GWL is honestly one of the best Christian suspense novels I've read. My friend and I were reading it together, and we'd constantly be like, "Aunty Tope is so smart!" The writing is top notch, and you can tell she put her heart and effort into the storyline. The suspense is so good I had to make mind maps to figure out who was clean and who wasn't. The late night reads? Worth it! Don't get me started with the PLOT TWISTS. Goodness! GWL gave me a whole feast with the two love stories, especially Sade and Mosadi's romance. It was so sweet, but I really wanted a chance to shake some sense into them at times😂. I also really loved seeing old characters.I will definitely reread this some time.
I read at least two other books in this series, Sade and Mosadi were introduced to me in one of the earlier books! This book developed their character revealed their deeply rooted love and their faith in God! I love watching nollywood movies so I was able to follow along on much of the pidgin talk but the author did a great job explaining any pidgin talk at the end of the chapter! It was full of suspense and full of God!He was in the fabric of the book! This book was complex and eye opening at the same time suspenseful and romantic! I recommend you read it! You will burn the midnight oil because you will want to finish one more chapter before going to bed!
I love this book so much! My favourite out of the 5books in the series I read. I loved the thrills and the suspense, it wasn’t just romance but loved spelt in action. I loved the development of the characters and their stories. Their constant reliance on God even when everything around them seemed to be crumbling. The plot twists, the books by Tope Omotosho are the only Nigeria CF I have read and they were really amazing. This book will keep you awake all night. Just a tiny bit of errors that escaped editing if not it’s perfect!
Ma'am Tope Omotosho, you did a great job writing GWL. The time and effort you put into this book was really worthwhile. From the plot to the themes and characters, everything was well planned out.
🌹The suspense and action was exciting. I got a lot of unexpected surprises, twists and secrets. I found myself gasping on different occasions 😂. The biggest puzzle for me in this book was Jenaiah's story because the more I read about her life, the more I wanted to know what really happened to her.
🌹The romance part was of course both swoon-worthy and toe-curling.🤭😅. I loved Jenaiah and Danladi's love story. It was everything beautiful😍. Mosadi and Sade's romance was so cute too even though Mosadi's mixed signals was pretty annoying and funny really 🤭🤭 but it also added to their drama and banter.
🌹I loved having to feel all the characters' emotions. It felt real. I loved how faith played a role in the lives of the main characters; how they connected with God to guide them and how His faithfulness and grace was at work🙏. I really learned a lot from this novel.
So, thank you so much ma'am for this wonderful book. This was my first action-packed, suspense-filled Christian romance 🌚and I really enjoyed it❤️. I look forward to picking up more of the books in the flower series and your other books to read💃
P.S: This was a five ⭐ star read and a 100/10🌹. I highly recommend. Plus, I almost cried when I finished this book two nights ago 😭
This is the fifth book in the Flower Series, and honestly, I didn’t expect it to have so much depth. You know when someone pours their whole heart into a story and you can feel it in every word? That’s exactly what Tope Omotosho did here. The story follows Mosadioluwa, a military officer on a mission to uncover a ring of corrupt leaders/politicians. What he doesn’t know is that this mission will lead him to the truth about his parents’ deaths and their tragic love story. And while all of this is unfolding, he’s nursing feelings for Sade who happens to be an Ondo princess, a shelter founder for domestic violence victims, and his best friend’s younger sister who has also secretly loved him for years. It felt like watching an action-packed movie with a mix of murder mystery, crime thriller, and faith-based romance. I didn’t sleep for two nights. You will almost fall of your seat in anticipation of the next series of events. Yes, it was that gripping. If you told me I’d get all this from one book, I wouldn’t have believed it. I got not one, but two unforgettable love stories: Mosadi and Sade’s, and Jenny and Danladi’s (Mosadi’s parents). The way both stories were woven together without losing momentum or pacing was just incredible. Surprisingly, this was my first time reading multiple POVs without feeling overwhelmed. This book made me feel a wide range of emotions like pain, anger, sadness, joy, excitement, and everything in between. It was so immersive, I felt like I was living through the characters. If I could sum up this book in two words, they would be: Brokenness and Redemption. It's about people who are broken, but not beyond repair. People reshaped by grace into who they were meant to be. You’ll meet characters broken by trauma, grief and bitterness, who’ve lost faith, but find their way back to God in the most beautiful way. This isn’t your typical faith-based romance. It's deep. I mean, really deep. One of my favorite quotes from the book is the perfect way to wrap up this review: "Water lilies grow in the filthiest waters... But they don't take nourishment from the mud. Their roots reach deeper, drawing from a hidden source... The world is corrupt, full of filth. But we don't draw from it. We draw from Christ and that is how we keep moving."
This is a masterpiece and you will be doing yourself a huge disservice if you don't read it.
Oh wow! I thought I loved book 4, but reading book 5 was amazing. This is storytelling at its best. I mean, where do I even begin? Is it the way the story connected, the characters, or the twist in the plot? I mean, this is the first Christian thriller novel I've read in a long time, and I absolutely loved it. I found myself truly reliving the story and the characters, and I loved how we were transported from the past to the present and vice versa. I loved how the writer connected the dots in this story about Mosadi, Shade and the people around them. It was a beautiful journey reading this novel, and I loved it. I believe the Holy Spirit inspired this story. This was my favourite book, and I hope to read more novels by the author.
I really enjoyed this book, it was intriguing and I would have given it 5 stars if we had closure with some of the the characters. Like who is actually black samba? What happened to Farouq's second wife and why did he want to marry Ari? And some others!
Wow, this was easily my best book in the Flower series. Maybe it’s because I am a suspense and thriller lover From the kidnap to every part of the book. I enjoyed the story and the plot and twists Glad to see that Mosadi found true love!

Anybody who knows me knows my love for suspense and service men. GWL delivered that effortlessly. I love the characters, their journey, their love, how it grows amidst individual struggles. In all, this story was delivered seamlessly. Love it
A very clean Christian romance book that had me on the edge. The slow-burn romance, development of Mosadi's belief into God, suspense etc made Green Water Lilies worth it.
I loved that the main characters faced real life issue. These issues triggered their faith in God to grow stronger.
Tope Omotosho tied up the knots so tightly that you would hardly guess the outcome till the last page of the book.
