Building, maintaining, and thriving in a relationship takes a lot of hard work, not in terms of physical labor but in terms of mental, emotional, and psychological tasks. I recently read this book Anxious Attachment Workbook by Gerald Confienza in which the author explains the concept of anxious attachment and how to overcome it to build strong, sustaining, and secure relationships. Anxious attachment is the feeling of constant insecurity and fear of abandonment. Like when one is starting a new relationship and is always eager to hear from their mate immediately and gets anxious if there is a delay in messaging/ response.
Often times we blame ourselves for failures/ problems in relationships and this ends up with us questioning our intrinsic worth, among others. But when one is trained to identify these patterns of behavior and modify them it is possible to build healthy relationships. The Anxious Attachment Workbook is a guide to do exactly that. Divided into five sub-books this compilation starts off with an introductory book about anxious attachment that helps readers understand, identify triggers, breaking negative patterns, and move to the path of secure attachment.
The other books titled Healing from Childhood Trauma and its role in anxious attachment; Cultivating secure attachment and healthy relationships; anxiety in relationships – managing emotional triggers; and finally a section on Breaking free from emotional dependency will guide readers through the complexities of attachments and how to build healthy secure relationships. Indeed this book is a must read for those with unresolved childhood problems, those getting married, those in relationships, and those looking for one too.

Anxiety and attachments are very trendy and popular issues that people are dealing with nowadays. The book is therapeutic and digs into psychological issues like childhood trauma. This psychological book is more theoretical than practical. It does offer practical guides, methods, and strategies, but it will give explanational information that makes you think, evaluate, and connect to your life. This book is divided into 5 parts and each part has pros and cons.Book1 and 2 give you theoretical knowledge, it will explain what anxious attachment is, how it is shown in your daily life or how to identify it. It explains it in a simple manner, that after reading it for the 1st time, you will get it right away. Book 3 talks mainly about attachments and your relationship. Book 4 is a practical guide full of techniques and practices. Finally, book 5 is general about how being lonely is about being free, instead of feeling anxious. I definitely recommend to read a book 1,2 and 4 - since it covers the basics and if you understand the basics you can apply to any part of your life and not just your partner, because attachments could be related to everyone or everything - that is why I am not really focusing my attention on book 3 and book 5 that covers relationship with partner and relationship with yourself. Also, this is a WORKBOOK, so throughout the book, you will find exercise pages where you can practice and complete writing exercises - helpful. But for me, I enjoyed the context way more than the workbook itself.
