Earthbound: Poems

Rate this book
Whether drawing on observations in the garden, discoveries about the universe, stories told in paintings, or the lore of minerals and gems, the poems in this volume remain meditations on what it means to be human. They are bittersweet and subtle, conveying as much between the lines as within them. Named to Kirkus Reviews' Best Books of 2015.

Pardon me! I obviously clicked on something that put me through as reading my own poetry collection -- and I can't seem to reverse it. That said, I have indeed read it and am taking this unexpected opportunity to invite you to do the same -- kindle or paperback. I hope you will find these poems easy to understand and yet with the surprises, depth, and imagery that stay in heart and mind after the book is closed. In my case, I appreciate many kinds of poetry, from the strange to the simple, but the books I keep at bedside are those that feel like companions in my life. I hope my own collection is such a book.

What a beautiful collection! I know I will revisit these poems. The beauty of the natural world adeptly captured in verse. Unity in diversity, and the complexity of human existence eloquently expressed are central to this collection.

I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of poems. I was drawn in by thematic title, thinking that Earthbound poems would somehow be liberating: I often would like to go out into nature but am unable to because of circumstances. Enjoying this book allowed me to at least mentally travel. When my body remains behind a desk, at least my imagination can roam the realms of vicarious experience and explore introspectively the landscape of my own infrastructure. I found it somehow freeing.

This wasn't my normal preferred poetry style, but I was here for the ride! Dee Leroy writes in a way that has a visual effect. As you may tell from the name, there are a lot of nature based poems, and they are just beautiful ❤️✨️

Not entirely what I thought it’d be based on the title and description, but there are some gems in here! 2.5 rounded up
