Mom of two rockin' girls, Reader of everything, Author of The Dragon Guards series and many more surprises to come!

I am a sarcastic, sometimes foul-mouthed, not afraid to drink a beer, always southern woman with 2 of the most amazing teenage daughters,
a menagerie of animals and a voracious appetite for reading who recently decided to write the storied running through her brain. I read my first book, Dr Suess' Cat in The Hat by myself at 4 and was hooked.
I believe a good book along with shoes, makeup and purses will never let a girl down and that all heroes of all the books
I have ever read or will ever write pale in comparison to my daddy! I am a sucker for a happy ending and love some hot sweaty sex with a healthy dose of romance.
I am still working on my story but believe it will contain all of the above with as much SPICE as I can work into it. CHEERS!

This is the story of how the Dragon Guard started. Manus is a knight, Abigail is his wife. I was so excited to read this book, I knew why the kinights and dragons combined into one, but didn't know how exactly. Well, this story tells you how it all happened. We get characters that fill in the spaces and bring the story to life.

Manus does not disappoint with his personality, he is just like the Dragon Guard members that we know and love. Abigail, is very independent and not like other women of her time. She had me laughing at some parts of the story.

"Your Abigail has the power to love, to heal, to uplift, and to rebuild. She is the perfect complement for you and for me. The one woman destined for you, joined for all times in this life and the next. She provides us both with love, light and hope. I have been given a second miracle in the form of your mate. She is now mine to protect, as well. Together, you and she shall provide heirs that will allow our great race to continue for all eternity."

I can't wait to read more!

In the beginning there was Lord Manus O'Brien, a highly decorated Knight of the Round Table. He falls in love with the fiery Lady Abigail Donovan. She in turn, falls in love with Manus and they marry. There is a meeting in the Cave of Dragons with King Alarick, last King of the Dragon Kin. Then there are 12 Knights (at the request of King Arthur) and the mage Goldwin. Experience the creation of the Dragon Guards and the fantastic saga begins!

"There are no coincidences. The Universe does not make mistakes. Fate will not be Denied!"

A short and engrossing story from start to finish and it explains the Dragon Shifter's beginning. I just love this Dragon Guard Series and can't wait for the next one!!

A wonderfully entertaining prequel to the author's Dragon Guards series

"I've known from the moment you plucked me from the sky that I loved you. It was just that quick."
"But you punched me in the stomach."
She giggled and the last of his nerves unfurled. The wicked little glint returned to her eyes while she teased," And I may just do it again."

HER LOVE, HER DRAGON: THE SAGA BEGINS by Julia Mills was a wonderfully entertaining prequel to the author's Dragon Guards series. I have heard such good things about this series featuring dragons and I was not disappointed! This quick read is the story of how the Dragon Guards began. It is the story of Abigail Donovan, a spirited young maiden, and Manus O'Brien, a renowned Knight of the Round Table, and is a romance set in a world with a dying species of dragons.

I loved both Manus O'Brien and his intended, Abigail. Magnus was a wonderfully handsome and gallant hero who also had a good chivalrous heart. Abigail knew her own mind and was determined not to be relegated to the sidelines with her peers. I laughed, swooned and was intrigued by their story which intertwined with the dragons.

This was my first foray into Julia's Dragon Guards series and I'm already hooked. I would recommend HER LOVE, HER DRAGON: THE SAGA BEGINS to anyone who enjoys paranormal romances. If you also love dragons, you will be in heaven! I can't wait to delve into more of this series.

This is a very quick little prologue to the Dragon Guard series that sets up how the Dragon Guard came to be. This story not only explains how the dragon shifters were created but also gives a bit of insight into the first true mates.

It has been an absolute pleasure to read this heart stopping and romantic account of how our beloved Dragon Guard came to be.
We meet Lord Manus O'Brien, who is also a knight of the realm. We also meet Abigail Donovan, a woman ahead of her time, strong willed and independent. Manus has loved her from childhood and now goes about wooing her, wins her heart and marries her....these are very romantic and very detailed scenes, such as what he sees in her eyes is "hope, attraction, but most of all their future."
When he proclaimed his love and asks for her hand, is a truly heart felt moment. Their first night together as man & wife is pure & honest love that just sizzles! and as the years pass they form a bond that is so close and loving that there are never secrets, they tell each other everything. So, when Manus is called upon for a royal mission and learns the unbelievable details, he goes to fetch Abigail and leads her through the passageway, toward "THE GROTO" in the middle of "THE CAVE" where she too meets Alarick, A large silver dragon. The one remaining King of the dragons.
Here we learn, along with Abigail, the sad story of how the dragons were hunted & destroyed in the past and fought beside the Knights of the realm.... So to protect the remaining dragons and humans, the King along with the universe has given their blessing for a mage, (Goldwin) who has the power to merge the soul of a dragon to the soul of a Knight, so they will become one....this is also where we learn how the universe creates the perfect mate for each dragon Knight so the line will continue.
Twelve Knights accepted the soul of a dragon, one for each of the remaining clans...they received their mark and spent three days learning their new state of being........And the magnificent Dragon Guard is born.
This is a fast moving read, pure enjoyment that I do recommend to readers 15+
Thanks a Million Julia....DRAGONS ROCK!

Any fan of the Dragon Guard series would enjoy this sneak peek into the beginning and where it all started. I highly suggest that this is read after you start the series because there may be a sense of "what is she talking about?". This is not a full in detail story but a short and sweet back ground of how things came to be.

I enjoy Julia's imagination and words as they magically bring everything to life as I read. I could totally see Abigail and Manus's connection come to life and the excitement Manus had for being selected to become a Dragon Guardsman.

I only wished it was slightly longer with just a bit more detail and info. I also had various mistakes that cut into my flow and normally don't bother me but with such a short read and the number encountered I was thrown off my reading mojo a bit more than I like.

So, although you may see "The Saga Begins" and .99 but I will let you in on a secret...Most of her books are .99 *wink* and I would say read at least book one and two (Her Dragon to Slay and Her Draqon's Fire). Because reading them will make you fall in love and want to read this and you will have a better understanding of what to expect.

4 *WINK* READ

Abigail Donovan is a head strong and independent young woman. She has wishes far beyond what her generation typically allows. Her parents finally allow her to travel to the 'city' with dad to sell their fare. Wouldn't you know on her very first trip danger would encase her. Manus O'Brien is a Knight of the Round Table who is unfairly sexy and strong. He has kept his feelings hidden for so many years that they are part of his soul. Aside from the love he holds deep for Abby, he has a strong devotion to honor and country.
The dragon elders have to come up with a solution to what appears to be the end of their race. Will Abby and Manus agree to fulfill their destiny?
Julia Mills does it again. Although this is a short novella, it reads like a full length story. If you have had the privilege of reading the rest of the Dragon Guard Novels, this one definitely ties the story together even more. We get the history behind the Dragon Guard and what they mean to the world. We learn a little more about the originating Clans and feel the love between the characters. I hope this series never ends because with each new release, I fall in love with a new dragon! 5 fangs.

Meh

Instalove at its most banal describes this story with historical inacuracies. In Arthurian days, people did not eat cookies, a word derived from the French for "little cakes." Our heroine would not have gone to bed with a book to read as though anyone had paperbacks. Few people had books of any sort and even fewer could read, certainly not a skill one might expect a woman to have, because education wasn't something wasted on females.

It is lovely to get this story telling us how the wonderful Dragon Guards came to be.
What a great short tale telling how the dragon guards came to be.
I loved Abigail, she was smart, feisty and perfect for Manus.
It was also sweet how Manus had been in love with her since they were children.
Sad that the dragons were dying out but a great idea to become what they are.
Fitting that Manus shared with King Alaric.

Finally! A story of the origin of the Dragon Guard. Manus is chosen to join with the King, marking him as the first Leader of a clan. Abigail is a strong woman, suited to be the mate to the first leader.

Heartwarming beginning

A cute, short, and sweet romance. The dragons enter near the end. The Kindle book had some repeated word errors and grammatical issues but nothing too severe.

INTERESTING SERIES, BUT BECAME REPETITIVE AFTER A FEW BOOKS
After reading a few of these, I decided to write one review for all of them. I found these books to be pretty good, if somewhat formulaic. If a reader is looking for a good story with some drama & where the main characters go through some terrible things, but ultimately end up together, I think they will enjoy this series of books. It is sometimes nice to read a "happily ever after" story.

In the beginning

I am so glad that I took the time to read this story before I started the Dragon Guard series. Abigail and Manus Give a brief insight into How this came to be. Their love and devotion for each other and the trust that Abigail has in Manus make them the perfect couple to start the Dragon Guard series. I would advise this be read before anyone starts the series.

New Beginnings

How appropriate that one of the first Dragon Guardsmen would already be married to his true love and that he would be joined to King Alarick who would accept her as his second chance for a mate.
Very glad that this Prequel was written, adds depth to the tale of the Dragon Guard. We learn who the human ancestors to "today's" silver dragons are. Quelle surprise that the first wife/mate is just as feisty as the others in the saga! 😉❤👍👌

Anyone who has been a fan of Dragon Guards would adore this short story prequel. It's crisp and funny, we get to know about the origin and the missing dots that makes the jist of the entire series. Definitely a fan favourite to the series lover! But she keeps us hanging for more, should have been much more visualised as has been the entire series, which is why I have deducted that one star.

Snipit?

Way too short, why weren't more of these combined? Seems a bit of a waste, unless your reasoning was to sell it chapter by chapter.
