The evening the man who had all the power, control and wealth heard her sweet laugh was the evening he offered up $100,000 to have dinner with the woman who shattered his stereo-typical idea of the perfect woman. Sebastian Kane needs to control and it all goes back to the time he gave up control for love. Now, this Dom has contracts as he takes submissives to his playroom and they know the score…when he says leave, they do. But sweet and spicy Belle has thrown him for a loop with her kind heart, her feisty attitude and her own need to feel independent.
Belle is shell-shocked that anyone like Sebastian would even notice her, let alone pay to have dinner with her, even if it was for charity. She carries that poor body image women have had scarred into their brains. Belle is not tall and willowy, she is short, overweight and as she thinks, lacks anything a man could want, so she avoids the pain of rejection by cultivating a mass of “friends” who are male, hot and will come to her aid in a flash. How? Her personality.
What she wasn’t prepared for was Sebastian’s proposition, to be his sub, to obey his commands and bow to his whims and to avoid all emotional ties deeper than the D/s arraignment goes. Then there is Sebastian, 100% control freak with a Neanderthal need to possess and control every second of his life and those around him. As devastatingly handsome as he is, I wanted to take him aside and tell him to keep it in the playroom.
Searing scenes, explicit eroticism and a plot that shares moments of fun, teasing, humor and darkness, G.J. Cox has done a remarkable job of making a sensitive scene that is not for all into a razor-sharp romance with a touch of gentleness. Sometimes you just need to step out of your comfort zone, just like Sebastian and Belle.

An erotically pleasing read.
In the beginning of The Unexpected Submissive many parallels could be made to 50 Shades of Grey. Note I said parallels, not duplication. Still it had me questioning the direction the story was going to go in. Then the story took amazing deviations into territory that kept me glued to the page. While the hero, Sebastian Kane is a controlling billionaire who proclaims to only participate in D/s relationships with no strings and most definitely no romance, that is where the resemblance ends. And Belle... this is not your sweet, meek and virginal submissive. At times, I wondered if Ms. Cox decided to take the basis of the one story and see where she could take it and make it her own. Well, she certainly put her stamp all over Sebastian and Belle's story. This is no simple story of a woman coming to terms with a man's need to control and live the lifestyle.
Belle Anderson had a rough upbringing and a violent introduction to sex. She hasn't been with a man since. She left behind the terror of that night in Texas and moved to Seattle. She forged a career as a personal assistant and manager of a charity organization and she's damned good at what she does. She's independent and quite successful. Belle is a stout champion of her causes. She's a mama bear to those she holds dear. Just a few of which are the widower of her late mentor, her mentor's son and young grandson and an ex-special ops vet. Harm any of them and watch the smiling, lovable sprite with an engaging laugh turn into a growling she-beast with claws bared and ready to shred. It's very easy to fall under the spell of Belle's persona and Mr. Always in Control Kane has no defense against the spell she wraps around him from the moment he hears her tinkling laughter from across a ballroom.
Sebastian Kane was married once upon a time. To say that the relationship didn't end on a favorable note would be putting things mildly. Now he's just a bit gun shy when it comes to relationships. Always in control, Sebastian doesn't allow women to get close to him. He conducts his relationships by contract... with a healthy payout to the lucky submissive when things invariably end. He has a definite type, tall, slim, blonde and obedient... So what is he doing chasing this short, plump, brunette with a stubborn streak a mile wide? Oh yeah, he's chasing that elusive laugh that turns his world upside down with longing for something he gave up on long ago. Something he'll do everything to protect and keep. When a stalker rears his ugly head and threatens Belle, Sebastian will pull out all the stops to see her safe. Somewhere along the way he'll find himself throwing his control to the winds and falling irrevocably and deeply in love with his stubborn minx of a submissive.
The Unexpected Submissive not only has hot steamy erotic BDSM scenes but it also has engaging secondary characters and an unknown stalker. It ends on an HFN moment with the stalker at large leaving the reader on a minor cliffhanger... thus leading to book two which I hope won't be too long in coming.

I made notes while reading this book so I wouldn't forget most of what I wanted to say.
This book captured me completely from line one! The rest was history.
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE Belle! The female lead in this book is feminine GREATNESS! The Author somehow wrote a sassy ass, realistic, independent woman that balanced being the sizzling and flawless submissive in the bedroom! All hail G.J. Cox! She has written the queen of bondage romance!!!!!!!!! A strong lady with no "what does this mean" crap. So secure In herself EVEN while fighting typical and relatable insecurities!
Now for Sebastian Kane. Where does one begin on that male God of Sex??? This is no ordinary Dom! Forceful, sexy, intelligent, blunt, in charge, and yet trustworthy!! The man radiated charm, class and Alpha blood!
Yes he's aggressive, yes he's demanding and yes he's possessive but I'm sorry, it's Sebastian Kane, he can be what he wants and if he's not for you, that's okay, he's MY book boyfriend anyway.
Obviously this book just like the kind of sex in it is not for everybody, but I trust that if you bought a book with a title such as this you know what you are in for. Either way, I personally find this type of sexual relationship to be very profound. It's a shared experience that strives solely on trust.
To trust your partner so throughly that you release your will to them...to trust That they respect your boundaries and your limits...
For a Dom to take control but also share it by honoring the word "stop"
I think it's utterly romantic and G.J.Cox has done an incredibly artistic job describing and sharing this.
The sizzle and chemistry between these two people is stunning!!!! Yes the sex is over the top hottness! My mind was already dirty but now it's going to need a car wash. However, the romance that's built around it and the bone chilling thriller subplot makes this book a Grade A winner! A majestic bestseller that I WILL be re-reading.
My only honest complaint and the thing that left me dissatisfied..........

Oh my gosh! G.J. Cox never disappoints her readers. This new title, The Unexpected Submissive is everything a reader wants plus more. Instantly, I was taken deep inside, the world, as realistic as our own...only that it took me on a wild and heated ride. The dominant male and a woman who yields to his every word is an exciting read. Belle Anderson is soon led on a date with a man who just donated more money than she could count to her favorite rescue donation center. But in return, he wants a dinner with her. After waiting so long she finally has him coming to her and opening her up to his world of dominace. At first Belle hesistates but it turned on by what she expperiences. She thinks she has no affect on men and has little confidence until Sebastian Kane steps up to the challenge. Unlike any other woman he has met and had

I was immediately taken with these new characters and their journey. Hot, sexy, and one that won't be forgotten...Overall, I highly recommend The Unexpected Submissive to readers everywhere.
