*I was given an ARC for an honest review*

This review may contain spoilers

There was that dimpled smile again. God it was cute. "What kind of Boyfriend would i be if i abandoned you when you needed me most?" "B-Boyfriend?" The air left me, and I swayed a little to the side. Cooper circled his arms around my waist. "Yeah. That's what it's called, you know? When your'e seeing someone and you really like them, and you don't want them seeing anyone else, are you, London?" I shook my head. "Do you want to see someone else?" Again, I shook my head. He lifted his hand, his fingers skimming my cheek. "Then I think that makes you my girlfriend." Girlfriend, I caught the word in my hands and hid
it in my heart. No one had ever wanted to by my boyfriend before. And I never thought when someone did it would by Cooper Montgomery.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I am so excited I had the chance to read it. It was absolutely beautiful. I loved every single second of it. This book was so much more than I expected. The heroine London is shy, unbelievably smart and beautiful from the inside out. She is very guarded and doesn't trust easily. After what happened with her mom, who could blame her. She is raised by her dad, and he is such an amazing dad. He is always there for his daughter. They have very strong father daughter relationship that is so beautiful to read.
London pretty much keeps to herself, but her best friend Skylar keeps her life interesting. She is there for her when she needs someone to talk to. Then in walks Cooper. Charming, Smart and Sexy, in a wonderfully delightful package. How could you not love him?! He comes off as cocky and arrogant when London first meets him while interviewing him for their school paper, that she was forced into doing. But it turns out to be the best thing to ever happen to her.

This book is told from both London and Coopers POV'S. Which I absolutely love in books. I loved reading Coppers POV. He had me cheering for him from page one. As Cooper and London grow closer together, they both fight their attraction knowing that getting close to someone means opening up your heart and being at risk of getting it completely shattered again by the ones you love. They both decide to take that leap and see where it leads them, and the road they are headed down is full of ex's out for revenge, heartbreak, love and hope. Along the way they both struggle with the strength to hold on with everything they have, and fight for the future they both desperately want. After a couples weeks of being together, London receives news that shatters her whole world. Just when things are looking up for her, her life takes a nose dive. Life happens. But when that revelation is revealed, my heart was shattered. I literally cried. Even though I kind of suspected it, but I was still hoping that I was wrong. After London tells her devastating news to Cooper, she is afraid that he will leave her. But guess what?! He doesn't, he proves to her that he is with her for the long haul. He reassures her time and time again that he isn't going anywhere. Throughout this whole ordeal, Cooper continues to keep London's spirits up. He gives London the best thing you could ever give the person you love, HOPE and the Courage to FIGHT.

These two were so freaking adorable. There were so many times between them that I was swooning over what was said that I couldn't help but have an awww moment. They never took each other granted. They both grew tremendously throughout the book, both as a person and a couple. Towards the end of the book London finally gets the good news that she was praying for. She finally gets to live her life they way she wants, or so she thinks. Doubt and fear are always in the back of her mind. Then just when you think you know what's going to happen, you would be wrong. Coming to the books end, Tragedy strikes the couple once again. At this point I couldn't handle it no more. Seriously?! My thoughts were as follows, Why oh why did this have to happen?! After all they have both been through why them?! They deserve to love and be loved. They deserve the future they both didn't dream about until they entered each other's lives. Then Cooper goes and says this to London "I win, London. It's what I do. And we're going to fight until we win." "Were going to beat this. Together." By that quote and that quote alone, I was holding out hope that they would Win this Fight. But I kept thinking, with the odds stacked against them, how?! Then the epilogue comes. By the way, that is may favorite part of a book for me. It was Absolutely, Amazingly Beautiful. If that makes any since.

I bet your wondering what happened. Well I can't tell you that, you have to read the book yourself. But trust me when I say, it is a must read that you don't want to miss. This book makes you feel. You will feel anger towards the circumstances, your heart will break when hear the news, you will laugh, you will most definitely cry and last but not least you will feel hope. That no matter the circumstances you are given in life, never give up. Without darkness there can be no light, right?! Never let opportunities pass you by, grab onto them and don't let go.

Thank you Amber Garza for allowing me to read London and Cooper's story. It is a story I will never forget. I am hoping there is a sequel in the near, near future. Wink, Wink.

By some tricky step of fate, London Miller finds herself on assignment to interview hot stuff-Cooper Montgomery, a rising star of the baseball team, for the school newspaper.

London is easy to like, if you like a bookishly cute heroine who speaks her mind, but is still just as vulnerable to mean girls as she is a champion of all girls who have to survive the charms of boys like Cooper.
Sometimes the hardest person in the world to be is yourself.
Cooper comes into his own when he meets London. He involuntarily connects with her and starts to figure out that she's a person who has a lot in common with him; she's a person he wants to protect. Cooper also matches London's strength of character, outwardly, as he forms a bond with London despite the judgmental looks and ulterior motives of his peers.

This couple's bond gets tested in an unsurprising and rather morbid way. Previously, they both suffered loss; therefore, they were used to guarding a part of themselves. Yet circumstances test their mettle.

Two hang-ups: The story didn't contain anything new. The plot was predictable and elements presented were typical of your regular YA novel. Also, when you look at the amount of grief in this book, it could potentially make the mood too sad.

Why the 4 stars?
I don't mind reading YA, but when I read it, most of the time it's too cliché or repetitive and/or unoriginal.

Sure, the unoriginal happened in the story, but it was saved from being cliché due to the characterization of the hero and heroine. It was also saved from being too repetitive because there was an almost tangible reality following through the pacing, dialogue and events in the story.

This story was satisfactory and if the author were willing to go on with the story, to what happens between Cooper and London in the next phase of their young adult-to-twenty-something year old lives, I'd be willing to dive in.

For the Win is another excellent, well written, novel from Amber Garza. While Engraved, The Prowl Trilogy and Cuts Run Deep are amongst my favorite books, For the Win is different. I usually do not read novels like For the Win. While I love YA sports stories, For the Win has a twist I think is overwritten. Yet, I could not stop thinking about this story. Here's why.

London is a likeable teen heroine. She's strong, intelligent, mature beyond her years - in a good way, and a bookworm.

Cooper is every girl's favorite teen hero. He will win awards like "Favorite Book Boyfriend". He's intelligent, an athlete, and good looking. His growth in this novel is nothing short of remarkable. :)

Together this teen couple will steal hearts.

The surprising climax I did not see coming. It made this astonishing.

For the Win is perfect for movie screens RIGHT NOW.

So, while I rarely read novels like For the Win, I must admit I absolutely love it.

What a sweet, sweet book. I don't usually ever read YA, but I went into this not realizing it was, and I am glad that I read it. Cooper was one of those perfect heroes, he was so lovable and he made this book so enjoyable. I am a sucker for the books where the "it" guy falls for the nerd girl...and London was a nerd. This book definitely had a "Walk to Remember" vibe going on and at times I was scared in what direction this book would take. This was not a cliff hanger, but there is a continuation in "For the Game". I will read more by this author.

This started off as a sweet story of two teens, each resistant to romantic relationships because of tragedy in their pasts. Cooper, a baseball phenom, is the quintessential player, although he hates that label. The death of his parents at a young age makes him afraid to get close to anyone again. London is the shy girl with journalism on her mind who has suffered such a tragic loss that she tries to hide herself from the world. But London's ambitions throw her into Cooper's path when she's assigned to interview him for the school paper.

A quick interview and follow-up turns into something more when each sees something in the other they never expected to -- understanding. Their individual losses allow them to relate to each other in a way no one has before, and before long, both are breaking all their own rules about relationships. Life throws them a curve ball, though and what should be the happiest time of their lives is suddenly marred by uncertainty, and they'll have to find out if they have what it takes to win.

Plot
The main plot centers on the romance between London and Cooper, but there is a subplot I won't spoil that is well done. I thought the romance was stronger earlier in the book. Lots of angst, but it quickly resolved when the subplot came into play. I would have liked more of that throughout the story, but all-in-all, the plot worked.

Characters
The two main characters were really well developed, as was London's father. I didn't get much of a sense of the other characters, though.

Writing
The author seems to have done her homework on all points. The dual first-person points of view are balanced and don't recover the same territory from different perspectives, keeping the story flowing.

Ending
The ending was a logical conclusion to the story, but it did leave me wanting more, so it's a good thing there's another book in the series.

Top Five Things I enjoyed about For the Win:
1. London. She has such a sense of who she is, but still manages to come across as an authentic teen.

2. Cooper. He may be a player, but he's not a jerk about it. He's open and honest about what he wants and what he doesn't want from girls.

3. London and Cooper. They are beyond adorable together.

4. Dexter. London's dad is great as the single father trying to raise a teen daughter. There's appropriate awkward discomfort over female stuff and just general doting-dad thing that makes him one of my favorite fictional fathers.

5. Baseball Caps. Cooper's feelings about his caps and who he lets wear them lays the groundwork for one of the book's sweetest moments.

Bottom Line
For the Win is a sweet teen romance starring a couple of flawed but really likable characters.

I liked this book and give it a solid three stars. This book had the chance to be really amazing but it just never really went there. The characters were great and likeable. I particularly liked London, she reminded me of me when I was younger. I didn't really warm up to Cooper, he seemed a bit immature to me, even at the end. But you can't love everybody ;)
There were really few though. London had only one friend and Cooper despite being popular only had one good friend too. And of course the annoying (ex)-girlfriend. But you never see them hanging out together. I haven't counted but there can't be more than 20 lines of dialogue between the so called best friends.
In short the novel lacked depth. The romance happened way too quickly for my taste. London really disliked Cooper and suddenly he was okay because he helped her. It felt a bit forced and I would have liked to see Cooper really winning London over.
But everything else could have used a bit more depth too. The description really makes it seem like it's a baseball romance, but you only see two practices and two games.
And I have to talk about I don't feel like the characters really grew at all while reading.
It feels as if you're reading the first draft of a novel (a really well written first draft but still). There is so much stuff still missing. The book is great when you're looking for a light read with a sweet romance. But if you're looking for a bit more serious novel, this isn't the book for you.

1.5 stars rounded to 2.

To be honest, I didn't really like this book. I didn't like London. She was weak and scared. Cooper wasn't very likable either. Hearing about the way he uses girls made me remember why I don't like YA. I'd rather not hear about that- the casual sex, jealousy over stupid crap, cheating, etc. Not to say that all of those things happened in this book, I just don't want to read about it. Let it stay in the hazy, ambiguous past of NA characters. That's fine with me.

This book is about the insta-love a popular jock has for a nerdy bookworm. It's not anything new. The way it's written, with an alternating first person pov makes it not as monotonous as it could be, but isn't written that well. The MCs tell me a lot about the way they feel, instead of letting me learn it for myself through their dialogue with others or through their actions. I also have a hard time believing a guy who goes from sleeping around one day, to being mesmerized and smitten by a bookworm the next, a little hard to swallow. If this book had a build up of a friendship that develops into more, it would be more believable.

This was a pretty great read. Amber Garza's books usually are. This book is about two people who find each other and help them become better people. London learns to trust in people again and to come out of the shell her past put her in. She learned to live life to the fullest instead of being scared of it.

Cooper was a little harder for me to like. In the beginning he was immature and kind of a jerk. Once he met London and really let her in he became more likable. Cooper really grew up and realized there is more to life than baseball. He also learned that there is more to a person than what you see.

After everything there is another twist thrown into this book that just punches you in the gut. Twice. This book was more than just a sports romance. It showed you things about life and two teenagers that had to deal with more than they ever should. There is lots of emotions running throughout this book but it's worth it. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone that loves those ugly cry books.

Received a complimentary copy for an honest review. I knew it was gonna be good. Amber's books are always good. This story was about 2 people who help change each other for the better. One becomes more aware of his surroundings and grows up and the other comes out of her shell and learns to trust and live...But, then let's throw in the gut punch. All I'm going to say is have a BIG box of kleenex handy to wipe the tears & blow the nose. Because you want to be proactive in being able to see and finish reading this amazing book.

I know I was supposed to write a full review... but I procrastinated :(

And during my big cleanup in prep for the holidays, I misplaced my notes :'(

So it's just a quickie review this time around...

For the Win was fairly easy to get into and held my attention for the most-part. Although it didn't wow me, I wasn't bored and I liked the characters, however I did find the story a little predictable overall.

Considering I'm not a huge sports fan, I liked this baseball themed read. 3.5 stars :)

This was pretty predictable. I wanted to like London-I love bookish characters-but I just didn't love her. I didn't really love Cooper either. The story was predictable and I don't usually mind that when I love the characters. So, this book fell really flat for me. I skimmed from about 50% until the end and I didn't miss much apparently.

That was the fastest I’ve ever read a physical book, less than 12 hours! When I first started read I didn’t see the page that says part one: before so I was really shocked when I saw this page that said part two: after and oh my lanta that second part was no where near what I was expecting from this book. But unlike topics like this in other books i didn’t cry. Idk I just felt like it was rushed.

Heartfelt

This book was on my recommended list from amazon and as a huge baseball fan I instantly downloaded it. What I did not expect was to fall in love with Cooper and London. To cry sad tears as they struggled with life decisions and happy tears when they triumphed. I would recommend this in a second.

I don’t typically like YA books about kids in high school. But this one was really good. It was emotional and they were dealing with some really heavy stuff. Cooper was so sweet with London, always wanting to take care of her and doing what he could to protect her. Definitely recommend and I can’t wait to read the next.

Sensitive Subject Matter For Some Readers

There are 'aha' moments in books that just shouldn't be ruined in reviews and blurbs; I mean you don't really want to know that it was Scarlet with the pipe in the study before the read, right?

BUT, then there are elements in books, which may be shockers for the plot, but that can also be potential triggers for readers. The latter deserves a fair warning from the author, which this book's blurb in no way provided!

I know that I highly doubt I would've read this book if I knew the subject matter beforehand, and that's just because I wasn't in the mindset for the sad subject matter, not because it had impacted my life personally and was a trigger. I had to prep myself to read books like "The Fault in our Stars" because such books stay with me and make me an emotional wreck.

If you don't want warning... Skip my review!

~~Beware Spoiler!!~~

The main character in this book is a young girl that battles cancer for the last half of the story. So imagine a reader that's lost a child to cancer who's reading along expecting a typical jock:nerd high school romance and is instead hit with a cancer plot. Not good, and not fair to that reader!

Nothing Really Bad To Say

There's not anything particular that is bad about this book.

I didn't like the somewhat Pollyanna spin that was put on bullying. She's a kind and sweet girl... So I didn't expect her to go Rambo on bullies, but neither did I like that she always chooses to ignore it and even defends what she views as the mistreatment of one of her tormentors.

Still....

It's fairly well written.

It brings about a lot of feels- anger, sadness, happiness, swoony first love, sweet innocence, loyalty, bravery, fear, etc.

The characters are fleshed out well. Readers are given both POVS.

Misunderstandings are cleared up fairly quickly and are devoid of the prolonged angst and silent treatment tactics.

There's light at the end of the tunnel.

It's PG-13 and safe for young readers. A couple of kissing scenes and mentions of "making out" and "hooking up" is as graphic as this gets sexually.

While Not Bad, It's Too Similar To Others

While it's not a "bad book," I feel like I've read versions of it already and wouldn't have tortured myself again with the sadness of the story's content. "A Walk To Remember" comes to mind. This book is very similar (geek girl and popular player guy have very sweet love in the face of bullies and heartbreaking medical issues.) This book does have a very different ending than Sparks's book, however.

The Ending

I wasn't impressed. The author went with the HEA for now route, and I think that's very unfair to readers given the cancer subject - give me death or give me HEA! I'm okay with either, but I do need closure. I feel like this book stops just short of being finished. She's had a two month remission already. So, when the book ends just a few weeks into a second remission, ehhh, I just feel cheated and forced to buy another book to get an ending to a story. When the romance is so tender & sweet and the book exits on a long-term, long-distance 'we shall see' note, it's not very fulfilling to the reader. Of course, that's the point - buy the sequel .

I just don't feel like I need another 189 pages for me to move on from this 276 page story. IMHO an epilogue would've been more appropriate than another book!

Bottom line

The blurb is misleading. This isn't a typical jock:nerd high school romance. Readers should be warned for the cancer trigger. This is sweetly done first love romance wrapped tightly in a sad cancer plot with a side of bullying. It wasn't my cup of tea, but for what it is, I'd give it a solid 3 stars.

This is a great YA book that will take a reader through emotions you won't see coming. I mean, WOW! Amber Garza had me laughing then crying and just swiping page after page to know what would happen to London and Cooper. This story did not go the way you would shall i say expect the story line to proceed and I'm extremely satisfied with the way Garza took this book. Not wanting to reveal anything so you can be as taken with this book as I was, let's just say sometimes life throws you lemons and you can either break down or make lemonade, and the characters here sure fight to make some sweet lemonade.

London is a girl who hides away from the world amidst the pages of her books, wanting only to make it through high school and move onto better things in life. Which for London is college and the chance to be a reporter, but first she has to make it through high school where no one really understand her.

Cooper put simple the jock, the main star pitcher of the high school baseball team, one look from him and the ladies melt. All his popularity status means hardly anything to him, but is a side benefit to Cooper as he has only one love and its baseball; he lives, eats, breathes baseball and knows that his goal in life is to play professionally.

That's where this story springs from these two opposites coming into contact when London does an interview on Cooper for the school paper. Their story is not your typical girl meets boy or starstruck weak female needs a knight in shining armor. No instead Cooper is more of a player when he is introduced and London, she might seem weak on the outside to others, but she is strong, knows herself and is strong in character. It's her personal character that ends up changing Cooper when he begins to notice her and becomes a dark knight of sorts one could say. That's when their story really takes off and you can't help but be caught up in their relationship from beginning to the very end. And Oh there are so many sweet moments that will make you just want to cry and say "Aawww!!" I'd share some quotes but it would just spoil it for you, so I'll refrain, but trust me keep the tissues handy.

Overall, this book was great in that it was sweet, heartwarming, heart breaking at times and yet encouraging, as this is an example of the kind of books that should be written for YA. More YA books should be about faithful love, love that endures all, not fleeting and questioning, but understanding and steadfast. Granted it, the situation her may be a bit deep for a couple 17 year olds, but the point is one should admire and want a love like that instead a wish-washy love that flees when crap happens. Life is hard and things do happen and when you have family and friends to be there no matter what, you come to know those are your true loved ones.

For The Win was a fantastic YA book that immediately grabbed me from the very first page. I couldn't help but fall in love with London and Copper. With the dual POVs, I was able to connect with both characters on a deeper level. Amber always seems to do such a wonderful job with that. She always creates characters I love. I even loved Dexter, London's dad!!!! I adored these characters and wanted all of them to get their happy endings. The character development was spot on. They make huge changes by the end of the book. What I also loved was how realistic this book was. I could see London and Cooper as my friends. They were just so real and raw. I felt as if I was pulled into their world, and I loved that.

I adored Cooper and London. Even their relationship. I was rooting for them since the very beginning. London saw something when she was very little that traumatized her at such an early age. Therefore, she wears baggy clothes and pretty much keeps hidden. Then all that shatters when she has to interview the one and only Cooper Montgomery. That one interview changes everything. Cooper finally sees London. Finally sees himself and how he treats others. Thankfully that all changes. I loved watching them both change individually as well as together. I loved how Cooper really cared for her and wanted to take care of her all the time. Wanted to save her in any way he could. And he did. He was her savior.

For The Win definitely left me wanting more after that ending. I am hoping that there is a sequel to this story. I want to see what happens next with Cooper and London while he is away at college. The only minor issue I had with the story was the illness that was involved. I relate to London in so many ways, but like her, I read to escape sometimes. I don't want to escape in a sad story or a story about this illness that stinks on so many levels. I didn't know what to expect from this book, but at the beginning when she started talking about being extremely tired, I knew then. It was very predictable for me in that way. I have come across so many books about that illness, that I knew right then and there what I got myself into, But thankfully, Amber doesn't leave this story on a sour note. With her story there is hope along with a happy ending. This is a book I definitely recommend everyone to read. Great job Amber!!!

She needed me. And more than that, I needed her. I'd connected with her more than I'd ever connected with anyone else. Even if what we had didn't last forever, I knew I'd never regret the time I spent with her.

I loved this one! So so love it! It is not going in my favorites list but Amber Garza did a really good job in this one. This kind of reminded me of A Walk To Remember without the dying part. For The Win is a sweet, mature, and touching story. I did not expect the turn of events at all. It feels good to read a book with a cliche theme but unexpected twist. After the said "twist", I did not know what to expect. I wasn't able to predict the ending and I liked that so much. It is rare to read cliche books with unexpected endings.

London and Cooper are such amazing heroine and hero, respectively. Despite being in high school, they act mature enough. They are normal - not perfect teenagers, with normal flaws. From the moment they talked, I felt the spark and chemistry there.

Cooper is so going to be in my book boyfriend list. Gosh, London is so lucky to have Cooper in her life. He is simply amazing. I cannot wait to read more of them in the next books because I felt like they weren't developed that much here as individual characters but rather as a couple. It's not a bad thing but I want to know them more as two individuals.

The doctor assured me we could fight, but it wasn't a fight I was sure to win. If anything, winning would be kind of a miracle.

And I'd never been one to believe in miracles.

I was a bit going crazy while turning the pages of this book after the twist. I thought everything was going normal until...... BAM! Like I said, I did not know how things will go. I was crying already when London and Dexter were talking and when London was talking to her mother. Her words touched my heart.

I don't want to spoil anything so I am gonna stop my review right here and continue with the second book. Before I finished this book, I was contemplating whether I should read the blurb of the second book so I could have clues as to what's gonna happen with London and Cooper but I just couldn't do it. I wanted this book to surprise me. And it did.

First off let me say, Amber Garza holds my heart. Every novel of hers leaves me satisfied and a tale I’ll never forget and I received this for a completely honest review. This is a fantastic YA novel that will bring out emotions that other novels can’t. I couldn’t stop reading, even though I knew I had to get up early the next morning and have two rambunctious kids to take care of! I didn’t know what to expect going into this novel and I love that Garza is so unexpected.

London hides worlds away in books, only wanting to get through school and move on with her life. She wants to be a reporter, but first she has to get through the dreaded high school where no one understands her. And I’m sure many of us can related to that growing up. I can.
Cooper is the hot shot, star pitcher of the baseball team, all around jock. Ladies man. You name it. But his popularity doesn’t seem to mean anything to him, he only loves baseball. Literally. He wants to play professionally.

That’s where the novel gets fun, two opposites come together when London has to interview Cooper. This isn’t your average cliché, nerd girl gets stunned by jock. Cooper is a playboy and London sees through that, she might seem weak, but she is strong and her character is portrayed as that and I loved it. We finally have a strong female character who knows who she is and what she wants. You can’t help but flip page after page, reading about how their relationship progresses from start to finish. You cry, you awe, you laugh, you will need tissues. But you will love it.

This novel was superb, it was everything you’d want in a novel. Heart breaking yet heartwarming. Faithful love that knows no bounds, true love that can withstand anything. The love that everyone wants. This was a very heart felt tale that has left an imprint in my heart and I can’t wait to read the next novel by Amber Garza, she always manages to leave an everlasting impression in my heart, even as an adult. Good job Amber. You deserve way more than 5 stars. Don’t ever give up writing, you have true talent!

My Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.

An Overview of the Novel: I'm not going to give anything away, but that is going to be really hard.

London wants to be a writer, that's it. She's dreamed of nothing else for years. And so when she gets assigned to cover an article on Cooper, she has no choice but to accept and to write a good article.

Cooper is an incredible baseball players and everybody knows it, including all the girls. London doesn't like how he treats them and is determined to stay away from him.

Cooper loves baseball. It's what he dreams about and he's not looking to get serious about anything else.

And yet, somehow life keeps throwing them together again and again. Now both of them are reconsidering their stances. But neither of them could have prepared for what comes next. It leaves them questioning everything.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: A cute book. I've been reading a lot of stories about baseball lately. I'm not really sure why, but I'm just into them.

This book was unexpected. I picked it up on a whim, but I actually really enjoyed it. It felt a little A Walk to Remember-ish to me. Bad boy who isn't really a bad boy with the good girl who's facing hard times that bad boy doesn't know about. Bad boy's ex getting mad and making school miserable for her.

However, despite those brief similarities, the book took on a life of its own for me. I actually really did enjoy the novel. I liked the characters.

There was not a lot of baseball talk in this novel, so you certainly don't have to be a fan of baseball to watch it.

If you love cute, realistic contemporary, then check this one out. It's a cute, quick read.

So why 3 stars? It just felt similar to many other books I've read. I was just expecting a little bit more, but I really did love it.

Warnings/Side-notes: Acceptable to all readers.

The Wrap-up: A cute read that I really enjoyed. Definitely recommend for fans of the genre.

Love,

You know when you start a book and the first page catches your mind and heart? Well that is this book. Automatically I knew I would love it and I did. There is always something with Amber Garza's books that grab not only attention but your entire being. You feel every emotion with the character. When their hearts break, you feel it, when there is happiness, you enjoy the ride with them, and when there is turmoil you know for a fact your stomach is in knots with anxiety.

The love in this portrayed is true and wholehearted. Going through the things these characters did myself, I understand the pain and loss. The heartbreak of not knowing if tomorrow is your last day, but during everything they were so strong together. They were the better parts of each other and they brought the things out in each other that was missing all along.

The hope and strength that was shown was heartwarming and something we would all love to grasp. Going through life changes and heartbreak is hard but when you got someone like Coop, you know it is something you will make it through. London was your average bookworm, she was the girl I was in high school but the difference is that I wasn't bullied. I made sure of that, I even protected people like London because I hate bullies.

Seeing them grow was like a beautiful calla lily finally blooming. You hope for it, you want the beauty, and even though you know what happens next you still are amazed at how beautiful it turns out. One thing everyone can take from this book is that love is unconditional and worth every sacrifice. You may put yourself and your heart on the line but the beauty of love can overpower you, it can be the best thing out there, and it can make you a better you. It can change your entire outlook on life, just let it happen and you will be surprised at how well it turns out.

For the Win is a YA. The characters, Cooper and London are two very different people, experiencing high school in very different ways. Cooper is your typical "Jock". He is super focused on his baseball because he knows that he has what it takes to make it to the pros. Yet, Cooper is still that typical boy who is easily taken by a pretty girl and a serious relationship is no where on his radar. London is the shy bookworm who just wants to blend into the background, survive high school, and escape to college. After interviewing Cooper for the school newspaper, London's life is changed. I really loved the dynamics of these two characters when they are pulled together by fate and realize that there is no fighting it, they are meant to be together. The author does a great job of introducing these characters, their struggles, and their fears/insecurities. I easily read this book in one day because once I started, I had to finish. The story moves along quickly and there is not a lot of useless drama. My only complaint would be that I felt, after I read the story, that I would have liked to have seen these two characters older. I know the reality of what they experienced is applicable to high school, but I felt that the maturity they exhibited was more conducive to college age. I really wanted the epilogue to include them at an older age. I wanted to know if these two made it past college but that's just me being curious because I become so invested in these characters and wanted to see them happy. Steamy-ness is light, but very realistic and will still give you plenty of butterflies.

Amber has quickky gone from "who is that?", to "Oh my God, I have to read everything she has ever written!!!". I was thrilled to receive an ARC of this book to review. NA is my favorite genre, and when you add in the aspect of baseball, I will devour the book. Like, literally sit down and read every. single. word, DEVOUR it. This is a beautiful story of two teens finding that everything they thought they knew about one another isn't quite what it seems. It is a story of finding love and acceptance in places you wouldn't usually look. London is a beautifully written character who knows what she wants, but who is struggling in her social settings. Cooper is the All American baseball player who doesn't think he has time for love, and quite frankly has zero interest in looking for or finding anything more than casual "friendships" with girls that he feels zero attachments to.

This book is beautifully written, and one of my favorite reads this year. I laughed, I cried, and I wanted to yell at times....and I want to read it again and again. Cooper has made the list as one of my BBFs of 2014, and I don't see him leaving that spot anytime soon.

This book gets 5 brilliant stars from me, I'd give it more if I could. Thank you, Amber, for sharing London and Coooer with us. I need more!!!! Get to work on that sequel I've been asking for!!! (That's just me being greedy....the story is not a cliffhanger and it is a standalone).
