Having read most of Tony Lindsay's substantial output of books of all types, this reader comes back to the same thought shared with those who pick up his books: `The stories have a great deal of flavor because of the polished gift Tony Lindsay has in writing in the vernacular: he adds pepper and spices in the lingo of the characters without impinging on the flow of his well-rafted stories.' Said once, said again. There are few writers who can create the entire atmosphere of a story - descriptions of place, time, characters, motivations, and street talk - as well as Tony Lindsay.
ONE DEAD PREACHER is the first in Tony’s David Price Mystery Thriller series, and was initially published in 2000. This new edition is the 20th Anniversary one and what a welcome return to the scene this is! For those new to the work, the plot is quickly summarized: ‘Smooth operator and security CEO David Price sets out to protect the sexy, smart, and saucy Sugar Owens from her husband, who happens to be a powerful religious leader. But Sugar may not be as sweet and innocent as she appears. And when the preacher turns up dead, Price becomes the prime suspect.’ Murder, mystery and above all `flava' color this tense little thriller delivered once again in the style of writing that keeps it real, keeps it pointed and poignant, and keeps it fascinating. This was the start of it all for the David Price popular series of mysteries, and solid one it is. Tony Lindsay has it down pat.
This is a bright writer whose books truly appeal to everyone.
One Dead Preacher is a great mystery that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.
Sugar Greer is a sexy, smart and mysterious that is married to the preacher that turns up dead.
David is a smooth operator and security ceo that is hired to be Sugar body guard. He falls for Sugar and let her lead him into danger.
Ricky and David is best friends but as Sugar works her magic on both. She has both of them tripping out on each other. One is accusing the other of killing the preacher.
What I like about the book the most is the way Tony Lindsay crafted his style by keeping the mystery going without giving the suspect away. All the twists and turns keeping the characters alive. He brings you into the world of David,Sugar,Ricky,Brother Yazz(Preacher),mother Owens (mother of the preacher),Regina(ex-wife of David)and Martha(wife of Ricky). There is lies, secrets, truth, drugs, sex, murder and jealousy. I'm really looking forward to his next book.
