WOW This is fucking awesome. 5 out of 5!
I've been a huge fan of Ryan Parrott's work. His runs on Rogue and Power Rangers were amazing, so I was excited for his take on horror, and he absolutely did not disappoint. This new series is a chilling, high-concept masterpiece.
It Killed Everyone But Me feels like a perfectly executed mix of Something Is Killing the Children, Supernatural, and Freddy Krueger, but with its own distinct, brutal voice. It's dark, twisted, brutal, features plenty of shocking deaths, and offers a killer hook for an ending that leaves you desperately craving more.

This series is a bit of a let-down. It openly borrows from SIKTC – even going so far as to use a Dell’Edera-style art style – without really pulling it off.
The protagonists are barely sketched out – and already rather unlikable – with a villain who’s already getting on my nerves with his pompous attitude. The narrative is generally unclear, with flashbacks that aren’t fully mastered and huge gaps – how does the heroine know how to control the creature? Magic candles and her sister’s hair in a necklace. You’d have to guess or set off on the adventure with a master’s degree in demonology!
That said, I didn’t exactly have a bad time reading it; it just felt like drinking sugar-free Coke compared to the original.

This was an interesting read following the main character who lost her sister and her friends to an entity that leaves her behind...or does he? The illustrations were good, the gorey parts were definitely creepy, and the plot leads to more in the series. It was a quick read and I'm definitely interested to see where the series leads.

Sutton is trying to bury her past, but what happens when her past comes rushing up to her? In 1996, Reed witnessed a murder spree, and it has been haunting her ever since.
I really absolutely loved this one! It had all the horror elements I enjoy, it had a good amount of gore and the story moved in a very comfortable pace. It has 5 chapters, all nicely paced out and with just enough detail to keep me thoroughly entertained.
The art-style was right up my alley. It felt mature enough for the theme and plot of this graphic novel. The characters are worked out just enough to answer the questions you might have, but leave enough open to interpretation for a more mysterious atmosphere. I would love to read more from Ryan Parrott, if his other graphic novels are also like this!

I’ve been really enjoying these horror graphic novels lately. The only downside to grabbing them as eARCs from NetGalley is… now I want the physical copies, and of course I want to keep reading immediately… but I have to wait for more. The struggle is real.
This one definitely kept my interest. My curiosity is fully piqued and I need to know where this plot is headed next. I really enjoyed the storyline; it has that demon-hunter vibe that’s enjoyable to sink into. The art style wasn’t my personal favourite, but it still fit the tone of the story and worked well for what it was trying to do.
If you’re into demon-hunting, dark vibes, and horror graphic novels with lots of blood shed, I’d recommend giving this one a try. Solid 3.5 stars from me!

This was a really good graphic novel. It honestly surprised me, given how short it was, how much I enjoyed it! I love the lore, the plotline, the characters (even if they are not exceptionally developed because it’s a short graphic novel after all). I don’t have a lot else to say except that this was great! I liked the way they juggled the past and present timeline, which can sometimes be tricky to accomplish effectively. The ending was particularly satisfying and did not go the direction that I had expected.
I’m glad that I had the full series all together because this would have been disappointing to be forced to read one section at a time.

A trip to a cabin turns deadly for a group of young adults when a candle is lit and an uninvited guest shows up. In the present, the lone survivor is now a divorced mom trying to forget her past but when a PI shows up asking questions about a recent death and missing young man she must dig up the past to help save the missing man.
This is told through a dual timeline the past and the present. I like how we don't have all the answers of what happened that night years ago until we get the last flashback. I enjoy the original bad guy and the back and forth between the FMC and him. The way their relationship turned at the end was perfect.

I really loved the art style in this, and the colours were absolutely beautiful. It was pretty gory, which I expected and didn’t mind at all. I did find it a bit hard to follow at times with the jumping between past and present, but I still enjoyed it for what it was. Fun, fast, and full of action.

i enjoyed the violence and gore in the graphic novel, not shying away from the gruesome nature of greed and deceit. parrott flipped the idea of the final girl, putting the weight of the monster on her shoulders, a weight alone for her to bear. no one is safe, barring sutton, as you explore the depths of the horror and what she tried to bury.
however, i felt that it missed the mark on the true horror aspects, and the characters, especially sutton, felt flat and underdeveloped. also, in her relationship with her demon, i was hoping for more sexual or romantic tension. it felt hinted at, but the author clearly was not willing to go far enough into this dynamic. i did love the illustrartive style, and that was able to buoy some of the aspects i did not enjoy.
this was a short read, with a lot of room for development. if you want an atmospheric, dark final girl story with a nuanced look at the monstrous, you might love this graphic novel.

The art is gorgeous. The demons are genuinely creepy. It’s a done to death plotline, but it’s so well executed, I don’t think you’ll have any complaints. I think it’s really all you can ask for in a horror graphic novel. I will definitely be picking up more by this artist.

A slightly over-dramatic title for an otherwise intriguing read. It makes me wonder if we'll be seeing more of these descriptive titles, with the surge in danmei popularity and their own long titles....
We open on the scene expected after the credits of a teen slasher movie: the final girl, covered in blood, traumatized but triumphant. But, 25 years later, it's more of the "traumatized" winning through, as Sutton Reed deals with the unending notoriety of being the only survivor--or perhaps perpetrator?--of the murder of all her friends and her sister.
And then...the murders start again.
Sutton let's the investigating detective in on the supernatural origins of the killings, in the hopes he will take over and leave her out of this.
Lushly bloody and full of gore, but I was pleasantly surprised that this doesn't rely on titillation or the exposure of any women characters to draw in the audience. The author promises carnage, and that's what we're given. Not busty co-eds tripping in stiletto heels. Sutton is competent and vicious, as much of a threat as the monsters surrounding her.
The ending of the book tries to set up a possible sequel or even a longer series, but I don't see any announcement on Mad Cave's website that more is coming beyond the standard 5-issue trial run. I also, while I did enjoy the read, don't see myself seeking out a second volume in search for what happens next. Overall, this is a good library pickup, and perhaps a purchase for avid readers of horror.

I'm not really a horror fan when it comes to movies, but I really enjoy YA horror – mostly in comics and short novels – and this one was great. I really liked how it was set out, the progression of the plot and pacing, and the characters.
For me, the only real downside was that the title felt too on the nose and isn't all that appealing. I mean, it's pretty much the basis of most horror / final girl stories – that everyone else was killed and only one person survived. I feel like there were many other better options for a title that would really draw people in, such as naming it after one of the two creatures involved, or even just going with Final Girl or The Riverton Massacre.
Anyway, other than that, I loved everything else about this. The art was perfect for the mood, the story and the characters. The characters all felt authentic, original with enough of a backstory that they were interesting, even for secondary characters. It felt like both the plot and the characters were really well fleshed out. I loved how detailed the “horror” aspects were, such as the bad guys and their motives.
This was a truly original, clever story with a great concept that kept my guessing as each twist came along. It was creepy but interesting, and kept me hooked throughout.

I'm not really a horror fan when it comes to movies, but I really enjoy YA horror – mostly in comics and short novels – and this one was great. I really liked how it was set out, the progression of the plot and pacing, and the characters.
For me, the only real downside was that the title felt too on the nose and isn't all that appealing. I mean, it's pretty much the basis of most horror / final girl stories – that everyone else was killed and only one person survived. I feel like there were many other better options for a title that would really draw people in, such as naming it after one of the two creatures involved, or even just going with Final Girl or The Riverton Massacre.
Anyway, other than that, I loved everything else about this. The art was perfect for the mood, the story and the characters. I requested "It Killed Everyone But Me" without many expectations, and I devoured it in the middle of the night. All I want now are several sequels and an adaptation because this was great.
This is a horror story in the vein of Jordan Peele, delivering chills as well as social commentary, as good horror should. The story follows Sutton, 25 years after being the only survivor of a massacre committed by her boyfriend, when she is roped into helping solve a similar crime by a PI.
The art took a bit to grow on me initially, but I absolutely love the contrast between the pastels and childish style and all the young characters with the gore and psychological terror of what we know is happening to those kids; the Heathen being drawn so beautiful and angelic, and the monstrous things we see him do were a stroke of genius.
The only thing I can't understand about this is why it's being released in the Spring, because this is the perfect Halloween read. The plot and plot twists are great, the supernatural aspect is original and reminded me of Capital Sins, and even the smallest characters had an arc of their own.
My favourite aspect of this book was that not only were we following a middle-aged divorced mother, and seeing the consequences of being the "Final Girl" in her life and psyche, even after all those years, but that all the men in her life were great and supportive of her.

This story instantly reminded me of "Something is Killing the Children" in the best way. This story follows a "final girl", but 30 years after the initial "accident". This graphic novel follows Sutton, the only girl who survived a massacre in 1996, where supposedly her boyfriend went insane and killed all of their friends, then himself. 30 years later, several teens start dying again, in the exact same way they did in 1996. Sutton finds herself dragged back to Riverton and back into the gory mess that was left in her wake. This graphic novel manages to balance the time hops between the present day and 1996, while cleverly revealing what really happened back in 1996 and how it connects to the events in the present day. The plot is paced out pretty well, though the ending seemed kinda like it wanted the series to continue, but it just stopped? I really enjoyed the lore behind the monsters in this world and where they come from. The monsters were also truly horrific, but also very interesting. The art style also reminded me a lot of "Something is Killing the Children", but it completely matches the tone of the story.

This was a solid 4.5 stars for me. It was a great quick read - something you can finish in a sitting. The story and art reminded me of Hellboy and Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.
This graphic novel centres around Sutton Reed - both present and 25 years in the past and how one innocent weekend getaway turned into a lifetime of shame and misery.
I liked the pacing in this, it felt like the “pauses” and flashbacks were timed just right when feeding context to the reader. Seeing Sutton as a character grow and the events that led her to make the decisions that she did make you feel for her. A lot of her suffering is self inflicted because of the things she can and can’t say.
The ending was slightly predictable. In a sense that you know somethings going to change and she’s given something else up but it’s not till the last pages that you understand what’s happening. There is a cliffhanger but the ending is definite enough that you won’t fill empty inside when you get to the last page.
I really enjoyed the art at the end of the novel too - too be honest if the art style was more like the bonus art, I feel like I would’ve been too scared to read it. Really great and eerie way to end it!

En realidad son 4.5 estrellas, la historia es muy buena, slasher + demonios + Final Girl. En mi opinión es una exploración muy original de un género que durante mucho tiempo se caracterizó por ser muy poco original, los slasher siguen el mismo patrón desde hace mucho tiempo: Asesino sobrenatural (o aparentemente sobrenatural) comienza una cadena de asesinatos hasta que es detenido por la “Final Girl”, la cual queda viva para sufrir las consecuencias del trauma de haber estado en una situación así, para luego en las secuelas tener que revivirlo una y otra vez, porque de una u otra forma el asesino “vuelve”. Y pues bueno aquí también, pero de una manera en la que subvierte toda esta estructura con ideas propias, sin romperla sino dirigiéndola hacia otro camino.
Eso si, no se si no querían ser demasiado gráficos o es que no hubo presupuesto para que la parte sangrienta fuera más detallada, pero gran parte sucede más en forma de “sugerencia” donde tienes que rellenar tu lo que pasó, o solo vez las consecuencias ya de forma estática. Se podría decir que se usa el espacio disponible para avanzar la historia y no para violencia gratuita que no aporta nada más allá del shock o el morbo.

If you like Silence of the Lambs you'll love this. Relatively solid but feels a bit lacking in something in its craft. Maybe it was the slow frequent flashbacks? I think the back and forth was ok but after a point it felt like dragging especially when you're reading the flashbacks for a few key things. The rest was already alluded to enough for what we needed to know for the story.
This was a neat murder mystery thriller against demonic beings. Sort of like a supernatural Silence of the Lambs, except the heroes work with a demon to stop another demon instead of a serial killer. The demons seem to represent what our hatred, resentment, and bitterness can drive us to do and to note how well off first world nations are and yet we stay greedy and resentful over little things. That and be very dramatic and ooze atmosphere. The hot Heathen demon is a real spotlight in this whole thing. Slightly camp and dangerous in a way that reminds me of the guy from The Labyrinth for some reason.
The dynamic Sutton, the lead, has with her serial killer demon is a fun one. It plays with trauma in an interesting way and is also a real highlight.
The art is really good. I know this artist from The Neighbors but they shine here more. The horror isn't super detailed or gory (in fact I'm not sure there is even one pool of blood even though multiple limbs are cut off and eaten here) but it works. It's never drawn in a very obscene or lurid manner. It's always done with a bit of atmosphere that grounds it which I enjoy.

I’m a huge fan of 80s slasher movies and from the description of this graphic novel, that is what I was in for. So with a devilish grin and rubbing my hands together, I dove in to “It Killed Everyone but Me”. Welp. My grin wasn’t the only devilish thing.
Ultimately, this is a tale of not being able to bury your demons. Doesn’t work. They have be dealt with. And that is the lesson that Sutton is learning.

Think knocked one out of the park for Mad Cave and Ryan Parrott.
This horror graphic novel was done extremely well and was super enjoyable. This trope of the final girl was handled beautifully. You couldn't really guess how this was going to end, which made me race to finish it.
I felt sad, scared, and excited while reading it, which hits all the good horror movie feels. My favorite part of this story was our main character. Sut is kind of unlikeable, and she feels real. It felt like she was really just done with everything the world threw at her and was ready to end it once and for all. This is definitely my favorite horror comic I've read this year. It was reminiscent of old movies but with a supernatural twist.
The timing was perfect, the length did the story justice, and I would absolutely pick up another of Parrott's works. Cadonici and Santoro did a great job bringing this to life and giving an eerie vibe to our horrifying entities. I hope we get to see Sutton slaying more demons in another installment.

"It killed everyone but me" describes the teenhood of our protagonist after confronting a demonic serial killer. Years later, a reminiscent murder dares to uncover the true events of that night and the present.
The story is told using dual timelines: While one tells the past events leading up to the massacre, the other explores the modern events. This allowed an interesting development of the relationship between the protagonist and the original killer, which was my highlight of the graphic novel. I feared the past storyline would just be a massacre of lackluster side characters (fortunately untrue), even if I thought the true reason for the protagonist surviving this otherworldly creature and his subsequent obsession for her was lacking.
The art is good. I wished it went more crazy sometimes, but it had some enjoyable shocking moments.

I’m still not sure how the main girl manages to work alongside a demon who murdered all her friends, but the story makes her motivation understandable enough that I’m intrigued to see where it goes.

This one was unfortunately not for me, I liked the art style of this graphic novel. It looks nice and the horror/graphic scenes are drawn very well but aside from that I just didn’t care or particularly like any of these characters. I feel like the story jumps around just a bit too much for my liking plot wise plus I do feel like I’m missing context for some important scenes/bits in here. The demon creatures things made for an interesting antagonist but I would have liked to learn more about them and their motives, I really don’t feel that we get enough information about any of these creatures. I kind of liked the direction that it went in towards the end, it was definitely a bit unexpected but I still just wanted a bit more from this novel. Thank you to the publisher for giving me a complimentary review copy.

After surviving a demonic massacre as a teenager, single mom Sutton is dragged back into that world by a PI trying to recover some missing kids in a case pretty similar to hers. Turns out these demons are summonsed by humans, but for sure aren't ever controlled by them. Or are they?
This is actually pretty competent – a touch on the slight side, but drawn well, and suitably maintaining its dark mood. It's weird without getting too OTT, and the body horror imagery works better than a lot of similar titles. OK, the story jumps to and fro like a frog on a griddle, but apart from one montage of conversations we can certainly follow things. Also, it's probably fair to say that any book where a baddy is a demon with a levitating cannibalistic baby on the end of a chain for a familiar is a good one. On this evidence it is – a four-star goodness, too.
