Credits include: COMEBACK, SHELTERED, THE FIELD (Image Comics), SECRET AVENGERS (Marvel), ROBOCOP, SONS OF ANARCHY, HELLRAISER (BOOM!) and X-FILES/TMNT: CONSPIRACY (IDW). Plus, you know, a bunch of stuff I can’t talk about yet.
Holy shit Wild Animals goes in a WILD direction. And I'm here for it.
It starts off very much a revenge tale, centering on Neil, who is at rock bottom. His world is crumbling: his mother is on her deathbed, he's facing eviction, and he's been haunted for fifteen years by the murder of his father by corrupt cops. A young guy who's had enough in life, being shitted on, and wanting vengeance for his father's murder that happened years ago.
So it's a revenge tale, but around halfway things shift, and the perspective and truth come out, shit goes into a wild and fucked up direction.
Ed Brisson masterfully pulls off a crime drama in the best way possible. Brutal, hooking its teeth into me, watching murder and mayhem. I'd say the only weaker part is the ending felt very rushed, but everything else was fun, brutal, and a blast to read. A 4 out of 5.
