THE COMPLETE DAYLIGHT SERIES three captivating and emotional historical sagas

Rate this book
Three powerful and emotional historical sagas. Step into famine-stricken Ireland in the 1840s — a land scarred by hunger, injustice and rebellion.

These deeply moving and atmospheric sagas are perfect for fans of Dilly Court, Chrissie Walsh, AnneMarie Brear, Lindsey Hutchinson, Anna Jacobs, Rosie Goodwin or Tania Crosse.

Nineteen-year-old Gráinne MacDermott returns to Ireland after losing her work in England — only to find her homeland ravaged by hunger. As her family struggles to stay alive, Gráinne fights for dignity and survival in a society teetering on collapse. But even in the darkest of days, she refuses to lose her compassion — or her courage.

Con Shonley, the son of a proud but broken family, works brutal hours on the government roadworks. As he watches his father waste away and his siblings starve, Con is drawn into the growing flames of the Irish rebellion. But what price will he pay for freedom — and can hope still bloom in a land gripped by despair?

As their paths cross in the shadow of famine and unrest, Gráinne and Con are drawn together by shared hardship and a fierce desire for something more — justice, freedom and . . . love. But in a country where trust is fragile and loyalties can be deadly, their bond will be tested like never before.

From the windswept bogs of Skibbereen to the desperate market squares of Clonakilty, The Daylight Saga is an epic tale of resilience, love and survival amid Ireland’s famine that shattered a nation and reshaped its people.

Crazy lives

This series could have been a great recounting of Irish history in those years, along with a sweet love story of two young Irish people. Sadly the filthy language used so freely ruined all that for me.

Overall, the book was a good read. Was disappointed with the ending. It was weak and not believable.
