At first, Jonny is just a handsome, older stranger that my body burns for. The perfect fling.
But one night becomes two then three, and I catch myself wondering what the rest of our lives might look like together.
Then my ex shows up, and everything comes crashing down. He’s not just my ex-boyfriend, he’s Jonny’s son. I know that Jonny would never risk his relationship with his son to be with me, and our romance is over.
We both know we need to stay away from each other, but our chemistry is irresistible, and sometimes rules are meant to be broken.
Falling for My Ex’s Dad is a short and steamy standalone age-gap novella with no cheating and a happily ever after.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Forbidden. Fiery. Freakin’ fantastic. Okay listen—I knew I was in for some heat with Falling for My Ex’s Dad by Ava Hawkes, but I didn’t expect to catch feelings along the way. And yet… here I am. Blushing, swooning, and absolutely cheering for Jonny and all his sexy, silver-fox swagger. From my point of view? I went in looking for a spicy little fling between a curvy, confident woman and the last man she should be undressing—but what I got was so much more. There’s something intoxicating about that moment when Jonny is just a handsome stranger, dripping with that smooth, grown-man energy. And oh honey, when the slow-burn turns into a wildfire? I needed to set the book down and go hydrate. Then the bomb drops. That ex we’ve all mentally set on fire? Yeah. That’s Jonny’s son. Cue the gasp, the angst, the gut-punch realization—and yet, I was still rooting for them. Because their connection? It’s not just steamy. It’s deep. It’s emotional. It’s earned. This novella doesn’t drag out drama just to make you squirm. It lets you feel the ache of wanting someone you shouldn’t, the panic of being caught, and the pure, undeniable truth of falling for the one person who gets you. It’s a rollercoaster—but the kind you ride twice. Jonny is grown, sexy, respectful, and knows what he’s doing. The main character is smart, grounded, and so easy to connect with (girl, I felt those conflicted emotions in my soul). The steam is A+, the pacing is tight, and that HEA? So satisfying. Five stars for breaking the rules, embracing the risk, and giving into the kind of love that might just be crazy enough to work. Ex’s dad? More like dream daddy. And yes, I’d do it all over again. ❤️🔥.
Falling for My Ex's Dad is a short and steamy, instalove, OTT, one night stand to more, opposites-attract, age-gap, curvy bartender gets her ex's dad romance. Bree is a sweet and curvy bartender. Jonny is a hunky silver fox who has worked on an oil rig for the past 20 years. Now he is home for a new job and to spend time with his son. When he walks into the bar and sees Bree, he is drawn to the curvy beauty. They have a hot one-night stand that leads to more...unfortunately, unbeknownst yet to either of them, Jonny is her ex's (Tyler) dad. When they find out, both are shocked and know they should pull back. But they have hot chemistry and a deep emotional connection. Can they make it work? Tyler surprised me and the ending was so happy. I loved it.

What a story this is. And it’s my first time reading Ava Hawkes and I’m disappointed at all.
Jonny went bar called The Badger’s Den and that’s where he met Bree where she work as bartender. They quickly get attracted to each other. Their flirting and funny banter had me laughing. Their instant chemistry. There was a slight awkwardness when Bree and Jonny discovered that Tyler was Bree’s ex bf and was Jonny’s son but at the end they got together. I’m so happy to see that Tyler didn’t make it difficult for them. He accepted them happily. It was a quick good read.

This is my first book by this author and I'm hooked! It takes a special person to be able to write a 70 something page book and have it be better than some full length books I've been reading lately. I could have read hundreds of more pages about Bree and Jonny because their chemistry, bond and banter were EVERYTHING. I wholeheartedly believe you can fall in love in a few weeks of knowing someone if the connection is there. Sometimes if you know you just know and they both make me believe that even more. When Jonny walked into the bar and saw the beautiful Bree behind the counter after him being away for decades working on a rig the most he expected to come out of their flirting was a one night stand given the age gap and him just coming home to settle down and build a family as well as better his relationship with his son. What he got was a soumate instead. Bree didn't expect her hot one night stand with the gorgeous buff tattooed Jonny to turn into two nights and then three and so much more. They were having fun but that fun started turning into them looking into the future and seeing each other. The only thing standing in their way? Jonny's son who they find out casually dated Bree for six months ages ago. Both feel guilty and realize what they had may be over before it could even fully begin. Except the chemistry they have makes it hard to keep their hands to themselves and their hearts from feeling more. The author did so well showing how deep their bond got and how bad they felt about how Tyler, Jonny's son, would react. Tyler surprised me with how amazing he was and I really loved him and how he handled Bree and Jonny together so much so I'd love for him to have his own story. This was a beautiful, steamy and passionate short story that had me hooked from the beginning and ready to read more of this author's books!.

This novella was sweet, sexy, and surprisingly tender. From the very first scene, the chemistry between Bree and Jonny felt natural—flirty without being forced, intimate without rushing. What stood out most was the emotional safety woven throughout their connection. Both characters were mature, thoughtful, and honest in ways that made their forbidden romance feel grounded instead of chaotic.
The story had a steady, satisfying pace, and the dual POV added depth to their growing bond. While it’s a shorter read, it doesn’t skimp on heart or heat. The scenes between them are steamy but also meaningful, showing how desire and emotional connection can build together.
I especially appreciated how the book handled the complexities of their situation with care, never sensationalizing it, but honoring the risks and respect involved. Both Bree's and Jonny's reflections on being seen, safe, and chosen were some of the most touching parts of the story.
Perfect for readers who enjoy age-gap romance, low drama, and emotionally mature characters navigating love with sweetness and steam.
Tender, Steamy, & HEA Confirmed ✅.

This book is the ultimate guilty pleasure—dripping with tension, forbidden heat, and just the right touch of emotional depth. Bree and Jonny’s connection is instant and undeniable, and what starts as a steamy fling quickly turns into something much more complicated… and much more meaningful.
The twist? That perfect older man Bree can’t get out of her system turns out to be her ex’s father. Cue the drama, the emotional tug-of-war, and the delicious angst that had me flipping pages like mad. The chemistry between them is electric, and even when the stakes get high, their feelings feel so real.
I loved how Ava Hawkes handled the age gap and taboo setup with sensitivity and passion. This story isn’t just about the steam (though there’s plenty of that)—it’s also about second chances, finding real love in the most unexpected place, and having the courage to fight for it.

Falling for my Ex's Dad by Ava Hawkes is a new-to-me-Author. This is an ägë-gäp (15 years), slice-of-life casual romance that spans over a few weeks. There is a bit of family drama, ṣėxƴ times getting-to-know-you times. Jonny & Bree's meet-cute is in the bar that Bree works. Jonny is ending 20 years working on the oil rigs for a different job in the city. Jonny & Bree enjoy a one night stand and they both realize they want to continue it further. Unbeknownst to each other, they realize pretty much at the same time - they want to be serious in their relationship... Jonny's son Tyler walks into the bar who also happens to be Bree's ex. Shocking to both, emotions churning... (I do have to say Jonny was a bit overly dramatic saying Bree broke his heart on pg. 53 - she dated Tyler before she even knew Jonny.) Will Jonny & Bree get their HEA? You will have to read to find out!
Jonny has spent twenty years working on an oil rig, he made a lot of money and now he wants something more, like a wife and kids. He walks into a familiar dive bar and finds something more than he expected. She is younger than him, but both do not seem to care. One-night turns into two, both miss the other when they are separated. One night he is at his usual spot in the bar, when in comes Bree’s ex, which also happens to be his son.
It looks like their time together is over, his son's relationship means a lot to him. How will they be able to stay apart?
This was a great story and well worth the read.

The book series I’m reviewing today is titled, Falling for My Ex's Dad which is written by Ava Hawkes. This is my first story that I read by this author and I throughly enjoyed it! This story was sweet, sexy, and charmingly tender. While it’s a shorter story , it doesn’t have any shortage on heart or heat. Solid trying up the story with a perfect happily ever after.

New to me author Ava Hawkes did not disappoint. Age gap romance about a soon to be college graduate and a man who just wants a calmer life after a career in an oil rig. Well written and interesting. I can’t wait to see what else Ava puts out.
When Bree and Jonny met it was instant fireworks. They have a blissful couple of weeks until they find out that Bree dated Jonny's son. Oops. Steamy age gap.

Bree thinks she’s found the perfect fling in Jonny—a rugged, older stranger—until she discovers he’s actually her ex’s father. What starts as a sizzling connection quickly turns complicated, but the chemistry between them is undeniable. Will Bree and Jonny give what they feel a chance?
This was a very down to earth story. I actually felt pulled into it experiencing the daily challenges, struggles, life… of the characters as they fell in love. This is one I’ll be reading over again.
I really enjoyed this short novel. The characters were realistic, and the intimate scenes were spicy but not over the top. Looking forward to reading more stories from this author!
