This is a very powerful story of a deaf man, in his young life, went in search for his true identity in the Mod's/Scooter world. Only to find out that in the world of mods, as colourful and exciting as it was, he couldn't find himself. He was lost. Years later, he found his true identity in a Person, which has changed his entire life. He's still a mod, but most importantly, a Christian and a follower of Jesus Christ. He doesn't claim to be perfect, just forgiven and better off than he was. "The Changing Man is a raw and bracingly honest account of Phil’s journey to faith in Jesus and how that faith transformed his life. Phil does not shy away from difficult and painful aspects of his journey. His story is one of hope against difficult and challenging circumstances. What shines through in this account of his life is the providence and love of God working on his behalf even in the face of seemingly insurmountable circumstances. I have known Phil and his wife Caroline since my mid teens when we attended the same church. Phil and Caroline showed me kindness and love when I faced very challenging circumstances in my own life. What I did not realise then was how much Phil had to overcome to become the person he is today and the passionate minister of the gospel he has become. What struck me particularly reading ‘The Changing Man’, is the obstacles and challenges Phil had to overcome particularly in relation to his deafness and difficult family circumstances. Phil’s story could have turned out very different had it not been for the grace of God. I am truly grateful to call Phil my friend and I believe anyone who undertakes to read this account of his life will be challenged and inspired to believe that God is with us and for us no matter what we may face."
