I thought my life was finished when I was taken from my home with chains shackled around my ankles and dragged into the depths of the dark realm monster market.
I was a human woman, alone, terrified, and surrounded by fanged monsters with hungry, gleaming eyes.
I was also prey, a fragile little thing to be bought and sold.
I knew my life was over, but then an unlikely savior took me as his.
Blaylock. Ruler of the kingdom of the dark realm of Shadow Vale.
He was a hulking beast with gray skin, thick, curling horns, and eyes as black as the void.
I should have been afraid of him. I should have recoiled from his very visage.
But his glare–although fiercely terrifying–was filled with possessive heat whenever he looked at me.
He didn’t save me because he was good.
He saved me because I was his.
And when he whisked me to his kingdom, when he showed me not all beasts were monsters I was to fear, the more I felt myself warming and softening to him.
And the longer I stayed with him, the more I realized I didn’t want to leave.

Katrina was taken from her home to be sold at an auction. Blaylock showed up at the said event to put an end to it since he didn't sanction it. It was his kingdom after all, and he should know and approve everything going on in it.

Anyway, once all the humans were free, Kat accidentally blurted out that she didn't want to go home, so he decided to take her to his castle instead.

Apparently he felt something the moment he saw her, so he was curious to find out if there was more to that feeling.

And with the forced proximity and Blaylock being all gentle and patient, Katrina eventually started to feel at ease with him and her new surroundings.

Obviously, they end up together leading that kingdom. Still happily in love even after years later. 😄

Book info:
- Monster x Human
- Abuse
- Violence, death
- Kidnapping of humans
- Forced proximity
- No cheating, OM/OW, separation
- V FMC, No info on MMC
- HEA (yrs later, blissfully in love)

“Feral” is the story of Katrina and Blaylock.

I really enjoyed this novellla- scarred heroine, OTT protective beast hero, good sex scenes, a well bred HEA and the fact that the hero respected consent.

mini blurb — ✍🏻
Katrina is abducted from her home and when she's about to be sold at flesh-market in the Dark Realm of Shadow Vale, Blaylock, the King, rescues her and keeps her under his protection.

//

A hundred times so much better that the first 👀

It was cute AF, not really much plot but the story I felt it was developed better.
The slow burn, Katrina slowly healing from the wounds of her past, both physical and psychological, Blaylock being always near for her, WATCHING HER 🤌🤌THE YEARNING OF THIS MAN (demon/monster?)🤌🤌 that scene in the dark garden will play forever on my mind 🫦

oh did I mention he's also a fire daddy? 🔥😏🫦

it’s not 1 star, because i hated it, it’s one star, because i didn’t care about a single thing. characters had no depth, no chemistry and basically nothing happened. i did not feel a single emotion. i just think some authors can’t write novellas. i understand that it’s a bit more difficult to write an engaging story with a limited numer of pages, but maybe stick to the longer format then.

Mejoró con respecto al libro anterior. Ya no es solo un PWP sino que hay desarrollo de personajes, aunque mínimo, se agradece. También se menciona algo más del Worldbuilding qué parece interesante, pero no está desarrollado.

This is book two in the "Beastly Romance" series and a standalone. Our MMC and FMC, Katrina and Blaylock, are mentioned in the first book, and this one is all about them! YAS!

We appreciate a big, scary monster who's really a gentle soul just for you on the inside!

I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first, to be honest - it was rather cute! I do like sweet stories that are short and to the point sometimes. Anyways, there's yearning and a HAWT AZZ MMC WITH DEMON HORNS who saves our lovely little FMC and is super protective of her. I love how patient he was with her, and the spice is so good! MUST I SAY MORE?

We learn how Blaylock and Katrina come together in this story. If you read Mated, you know about meeting these two. Katrina just wanted the abuse to end. Having to deal with a father that treated her like dirt and abusing her was her last straw. But what should have been her freedom is taken from her. Blaylock, Ruler of Shadow Vale does not allow for auctions to happen in his area. When he frees those that are taken he certainly didn’t expect to find a human that endeared him. Blaylock didn’t show any harm to anyone. He never pushed Kat. He gave her time and even was honest with her about his feelings for her. These two found a happily ever after. Who will be next in the Beastly series? I hope we get more. There show that even a beast can find love.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The second book in Snow’s Beastly series follows the relationship of two characters mentioned in the previous book: Katrina and Blaylock.

In this book, readers learn more about the history of Katrina prior to meeting Blaylock as well as the weeks following. Through this, you can see why these two formed the connection they did—making the ending they received so worth it for them.

I also liked how this story, as well as many others written by Jenika Snow, are used to exemplify (in one way or another) that kindness and respect can come from those you least expect.

The only thing I could say I was really bummed out about there being no male main character pov, which is quite unusual for a Jenika Snow story. Would have loved to read about Blaylock’s perspective about finding and falling in love with Katrina.

Jenika Snow’s Feral: A Monster Romance is a visceral, erotic fantasy tale that melds dark fairy tale aesthetics with monster romance in a story that is both brutal and intimate. Set in a grotesque but richly imagined world, it centers on Katrina, a young woman abducted from a life of poverty and abuse and thrust into a literal monster market—only to be saved by Blaylock, the monstrous ruler of Shadow Vale, who claims her as his own.

Blaylock is massive, horned, gray-skinned, and entirely not human. But he treats Katrina with intense protectiveness, reverence and patience. He doesn’t want a prisoner, he wants a partner, a queen, mate. What follows is part healing, part seduction and part chaotic monster-lust bonanza.

Review of Feral by Jenika Snow

Second enstallment of this monster series by a fabulous author. Less crazy and twistedness, more on the sweet side!

Katrina has been suffering with pain and fear most of her life, and after the worst night of her life, she is about to face an even worse fate...that is until Blaylock and his knights save the day.
Instead of letting her go home, live her human life, he decides to keep her.
Make her his queen.
In a palace that should scare her, filled with monster from nightmares, overrulled by a king who should be everything she fear...she finally feels like she is home.

Loving this series. Eager to find out what Jenika has coming next. Instant attraction, even in the fear, and the connections are fantastic.

This book was the second in an interconnected standalone series. Book one was focused more on “insta love” and finding inner strength. Feral’s pacing allowed for more of a relationship and true connection between the MONSTER KING :) and the human Katrina who he supports and protect while she heals from her past. I think this one of the best paced novellas of Jenika’s.

My only negative was there were a few point where I felt like a paragraph repeated the previous one so it seemed liked redundant sentences. Otherwise, I loved it and it didn’t detract from my rating at all. I’m not an editor by any means.

Sometimes you just need a monster romance & Jenika Snow just knows how to do it every time! Katrina finally stands up to her awful father, just to be taken prisoner but before she can be sold off her monster king Blaylock comes to the rescue. He isn’t like other monsters whom would take & not care about your feelings, he sees something in his little bird. Like any other monster he is well off in the downstairs area & he really does make her see stars multiple times in one night cause the man has the stigma of a god. This was a very quick read & just what I needed in my in between reads, has a perfect ending as well & I definitely recommend if you like a good monster romance.

This is the story about Blaylock and Katrina which we are introduced to them in book one so I do recommend reading Mated first before this one. Katrina was horribly treated by her father and finally took a stand against him only to be taken and lose her freedom all over again which is how she meets Blaylock who frees those who are taken. Blaylock finds Katrina in the midst and shows her patience and kindness. Blaylock was so sweet and upfront to her about his feelings. I definitely recommend if you love a monster romance with an over the top mmc and the “you’re mine” trope.

Loved it!!! My only complaint is that it's only told from Katrina's POV which is beyond frustrating. What confuses me the most is that the first book had both the FMC & MMC's POV, so why in the world would this one not have the same? Also, why do the MMCs always get the complete physical descriptions but the FMCs don't? How did Blaylock know Katrina's name when she never gave it to him? The same thing happened in the first book. I wish there were some kind of rule where authors have to write both the male & female POV.

Blaylock is the King of The Dark Realm of Shadow Vale. What happens when the Kind says he wants you as his the Queen of Shadow Vale? You don’t want to miss it.

This was just ok. It was a bit bland if I'm being honest though. It's pretty much insta-love and it felt like there were no stakes at all. The heroine is saved by the hero right away and he's overly loving and sweet despite him being a huge vicious monster king. There's little to no bonding and then they have some ok sex / smut and it's over. It wasn't terrible or anything but the spark and, smut and connection just wasn't there for me.

Wow! Suprisingly Great!

Okay, the first book in this series…I hated it! I had already saved this one in my library so I decided to give it a try and whoa! It’s pretty good. My only complaint is sometimes this author is crazy repetitive and overly descriptive. Like, describe something once and let’s move on. But wow, the characters and development were so much better in this one. I actually loved it. I highly recommend this one! 🖤

Stolen

Katrina is stolen from the human realm and brought to the shadow realm as a slave but when it is her turn on the auction block, Blaylock, King of the Shadow Realm sweeps in and slaughters the slavers and claiming Katrina as his own in this dirty, dark but strangely sweet tale.

Short but sweet

I find this authors books to be very short stories of sweet love stories. There are lusty elements of sex with other worldly creatures. However, if you like a longer read, you will be disappointed. These should be a compilation of short stories instead of standalone texts.

Blaylock and Katrina

This was a very good book. Katrina had no life at all, and when she was captured by the monsters, she figured she was doomed and out of the darkness came the king of monsters, and she somehow felt safe and comforted. Blaylock was gentle with Katrina and made her his queen. This is a very good short fantasy book about love between a human and a monster.

Feral is a quick read about Blaylock and Katrina. Blaylock is the king of Vale and he falls first for Katrina. Katrina has had rough life and is unsure of what’s going to follow her in this realm. Cute love story with just enough spice.

Strength ~

I did not like the beginning. So much pain, but it was an integral part to the story. Even through he was a beast, it was his honesty and kindness that won her heart. Loved the twists and turns they took to their own happily forever.

I ended up DNFing the first book, so wasn’t sure if I’d like this one, but it was incredible. The world building that somehow happens in less than 70 pages is stellar.
